Inv/Stj Tank...build needs guidance
Wow... yeah.
There's no circumstance where you need 62% smash/lethal defense.
Try aiming for 45-47% defense in smash/lethal, and try to bring up your Energy/Negative to 45-47% defense as well.
(45% defense is the soft cap - In normal gameplay, you don't see any advantage to building over 45%. 47% gives you a buffer for defense debuffs that you probably won't need.)

Alright first tweaks are in. Here is where I'm still lacking.
1. I'm just shy of E/N defense soft cap
2. Shin Breaker and Crushing Uppercut are underslotted
3. I dropped heavy blow for conserve energy for endurance crunch times. It seems I'll have a good attach chain without HB anyway.
4. I'm not sure about the overall end usage on this build. It seems like it'll be ok if I keep a couple blues around as needed.
Any ideas on how to fix my issues?

The Makos and Obliterations are not the most efficient way to get defenses on an Inv - they only have half values for typed defenses and are at six slots.
Put four slots of Eradication in Sweeping Cross and Spring attack, fill in other slots to taste. Switch your single attacks to a mix of Kinetic Combats (until you've got the S/L defense you need) and Crushing Impacts.
Drop an extra slot in Combat Readiness and put Rectified Reticle there.
Drop the Basilisks from Crushing Uppercut - it's a damage power, not a hold.
Your second build is looking a lot better, though.

Okay, honestly.
SCREW PERMA DP.
You're going to be putting HASTEN on auto-exec. Not DP.
Sure, you could bind DP to a couple keys you use often (like left/right/forward/back/etc). This way you're always hitting it. But that's a fairly elaborate cheat just for something like Perma DP.
Honestly, in most cases, if your defenses and resists are high enough, you're gong to forget DP most of the time anyhow. Because you won't be using it.
Note: I tend towards brute-force builds and rely on those who're more subtle in their thinking to finesse a build out.
But take a look at something like THIS for a baseline.
Here, Sweeping Cross and Spring Attack actually become viable, regularly usable powers due to actually having their endurance costs reduced decently.
You still see decent performance out of Shin Breaker and Crushing Uppercut actually becomes a real attack as well, as opposed to the slot-mule you have it as..
You're capped to S/L with one enemy in range.
You're capped to E/N with three.
You're capped to F/C with four.
Once you hit Incarnates, work for a Spiritual Radial Paragon. The Spiritual Core Paragon gives a higher recharge boost, but the Radial gives NIIIICE boosts to some ancillary things that make QOL on your build nicer.

If you've built to the S/L/E/N defense soft cap and also the 90% S/L resistance hard cap you'll almost forget your green bar even exists because it moves so seldom. Dull Pain is your "ouch, that (fill in the blank) nailed me hard, better fix it" button and little outside of the major AV's are capable of nailing you hard enough for you to notice. The little stuff that makes it's way past your defense will be put right in a few seconds by your regeneration without worrying about it.

I want to keep the spring attack for concept reasons. I'm thinking of dropping hasten if it's not needed and one other power (not sure yet).

Hi all,
I'm going to be starting an Inv/StJ tank very soon and have been toying in Mids a bit to get ready. I know that I am off base right now. I seem to be having an issue balancing the right mix of defense and resistance in the sets I'm picking. Can you please help me with determining a better way to starting these def/res sets?
Influence is not an issue (except for purples). Also, the powers in there are likely to stay for concept reasons. This means no APP/PPP, but what can you do lol (this is concept).
My main goals are to be a great tank, and to have Dull Pain perma (I'm not sure how that works with the math on non-perma hasten though).
I apologize in advance for the mess you are about to see. I know my attacks are slotted poorly, but that is because I know I am wasting slots somewhere on some of the defensive bonuses.
