Make a Dominator- with that you have the best of both worlds. Safety through controls and the punch of a blaster. Mind/psi concept Ftw.

I have been thinking about re-rolling my ill/ff as ill/cold lately. I don't have much experience with trollers, but I know it would be a good thematic match in the very least. Can anyone think of any synergy between the two?

Exxar- you just convinced me to make an elecArmor user. Great information. Very persuasive.

I have a DB/Inv that is pretty solid, but the major gripe I have with her is the lack of a dmg aura. FA has one of the best dmg auras around and burn makes things even better if you plan on taking and using sweep. DB is fun, and I am happy you are enjoying it with one of my favorite brute secondaries.
As always, with FA, build for recharge and defense. Having healing flames up often is priceless, and defense stacked on decent resists goes a long way too. -
Quote:Good advice, except Taunt is in the primary for a brute and not his secondary.Take everything but Unstoppable. Maybe skip Taunt too, unless you wanna be 'tank light'.
Early on, you want TI, Uny, DP, and Invincible. Later, take all the passives.
Slotting wise, I recommend 3 cytoskeletons in Invince if you can afford it, if not,one end reducer and two defence.
Five resist powers (you pick 'em) get five reactive armors each. The last passive gets three Aegis.
DP gets five slots, for a couple of the healing uniques, then as much recharge and heal as you can cram in. Alternately, slot the healing uniques all in health and slot DP for max recharge and heal.
All the defensive powers get LotG's, I like sets of four. Stamina gets a performance shifter + end, and I usually slot in a set of four of those for the bonuses.
Sprinkle in Steadfast + def, Kismet's, achille's, etc to taste.
Pools, I recommend leaping, fighting, health, and leadership. Pick powers for +defense and +resist.
Epic pools, ehn, the patrons mostly bore me.
For your attacks, a light End set is good, maybe claws. You want some knockdown or stun, to help with survivability.
Have fun! -
/dead horse. Scrappers will not get dual pistols. The best we can hope for is a temporary dual pistol power to match the single pistol. That actually doesn't sound like a bad idea. hmm....

I believe I paid like 20,000,000 for some Hami Goo once. I was just trying to craft something before a TF, and I hit the 0 key once too many times.

As it has already been stated, brutes are not tankers. MMs are not tankers. Tankers are tankers. If you are looking for a redside tanker- wait until Going Rogue. Brutes are brutes. I personally never have problems making Brutes survivable. The caps are the same as tankers, and assuming you are using IOs, you can do some pretty sick things.
To be brutally honest, I think sometimes people place far too much importance on survivability and not enough on damage dealing. Sure, your granite armor tank has some of the highest damage mitigation in the game, but there is reason tankers aren't known for their ability to deal damage. Brutes, on the other hand, can do both.
Don't get me wrong, I hope that GR will bring new challenges that will renew a need for supreme survivability, but in the current game, I think that tankers have levels of survivability that reach into the overkill zone. -
True enough. I hate to be too capricious in casting the set off, but it just looks silly from the video we have been given. Looks like some animations for what could be a cool control set, but I will probably end up avoiding KM like the plague.

I think SB is one of the most powerful buffs in the game. So simple and rewarding, yet so very frustrating.
I admit, I am sometimes short fused. So if I am on a team and liberally applying SB to my team and it happens to drop for a moment, and one member finds the time to complain about not getting SB, I will probably snap back.
Even more effective is just discontinuing SB altogether for that person. There are a number of powers that a kin has that are fun and powerful, so if you just happen to spend some time using your other powers, I don't think you should be held to the fire for questioning.
Teammates that I will continually SB without them asking- buffers or stone armor users. Buffers get it because buffs up more often is helpful for the whole team. Stone armor users get it because most haven't overcome the runspeed curse they inherit, and it is just pitiful watching them try to get around without it.
All others get it when I am in the mood and area. I do my best to build all of my toons to be efficient with endurance, so don't get angry at me because your toon has ED (endurance dysfunction). If I see you low on gas, I will probably try to shoot you a boost or even fill you up with a transference. But just because you are having endurance problems doesn't mean you are entitled to a SB. SB is optional, not mandatory. Get over it. -
No more visible hasten. Gawd do I hate that effect.

Quote:I agree with your post wholeheartedly. (I am an admitted redside enthusiast.) I only might make a change from the dominator to a controller to stack just a couple more buffs on, but it sounds like a dream team to me.Assuming good players, yadda yadda, my perfect team would be:
One brute
Five Corruptors
One Permadom
One Fortunata
I disregarded the hero ATs because none of them have something I want that a vill AT can't do and more.
That is to say, because a Brute will be buffed to Tanker levels of survivability and do more damage than a Scrapper or a Tanker and will hold aggro better than a Scrapper. If you've got a good Dom everything will be locked down better than a Controller could and you've got all the buffs/debuffs you need with the Corruptors. Defenders wouldn't get any vigilance damage buff on a full team and their higher buff/debuff mods wouldn't be noticeable with this level of buff/debuff stacking and Corrs would have the Scourge damage for hard targets and the possibility of going Fire Blast, something Defenders cannot hold a candle to. Blasters could be nice except with 5 Corrs and a Brute you've got stupid amounts of damage and they all bring something else as well, the Blasters would just bring damage. The Fortunata for the psy damage, defense buffing to ensure everyone is softcapped and all the rest of the shiny Fortunata stuff. -
Quote:Funny... your perfect team has completely disregarded the villain ATs.My perfect team would be...
One Tanker
Two Scrappers
Two Blasters
Two Controllers
One Defender
That being said in the end the game is made well enough that any combination of ATs should be able to do the mish. If given the choice I would always bring a tank to funnel aggro. Given that my main IS a tank, this isn't much of an issue. -
I am no mids wizz, so I will just comment on the concept and powerset selection. Out of the options mentioned, I think SS/Elec would fit the concept best. The majority of Adam's attacks are not energy/electrical based AFAIK. There are a couple of them, which is why Mu would work, but I would definitely want to get the smashiest set around to make a tribute to him.
If you wanted to stretch the concept a bit further, go SS/Inv/Mu. It might delay your concept play until you are beyond 40 obviously, but I am thinking it would be more than a little difficult to explain the whole visible electric powers from your secondary. Why not just give him a secondary that still fits with invisible gfx options? -
Even though I have been craving a SS/SR for the longest time, I wouldn't roll one based on the fact that both are pretty endurance intensive. Claws is relatively light on endurance, which helps as SR has no way to recover endurance and is a bunch of toggles.

I think a winged set would be more applicable for melee than ranged.

I have learned that amassing purples if just another form of badge collecting. I find that there are ways to make a character efficient and fun using non-purple IOs. Personally, I almost never use purples. On a couple of builds, I might have one set slotted, but I don't get the fad. I certainly don't see the merit in dual purpling a build unless you just have a massive amount of inf. to waste and a lot of people that you want to show off for. My most durable toons don't even use them.

Quote:Don't forget, there are some people that don't have bases, and some bases that don't have Flashback Crystals. Even more, there are some people that don't have Ouroboros access. I don't think asking for the bug to be fixed when entering this zone is unreasonable. What I do think to be unreasonable is someone telling another player how they should be getting around. If you're level 50, you shouldn't be using the Midnight Club to get to Cimerora unless you happen to be standing outside a university.
1. Go to Ouroboros or a Flashback Crystal in your base.
2. Chose the Daedalus or Airlia arc and teleport to contact.
3. Drop arc.
And who leaves Cimerora by way of the cave? Use the Ouroboros Portal, it's why God gave it to us!
Bottom line, this needs to be fixed. -
Fairly lame. I haven't had any severe issues since the new issue rolled out, but I am more than a little peeved at this inconvenience.

I didn't realize that Mercedes Lackey played. I LOVE M Lackey!

With two heals, decent resists, and defense at that number- you should be fine. I would even think that if you build for more defense you might even gimp yourself in one fashion or another. With that number, you are just one insp away from the softcap anyway.

I hate to say it... but suggestions forum is thataway!
This mechanic is not really needed in this game. We have respecs, earnable and buyable, that allow you to do this easily. That or just change your build to suit your mood. The thing that is so great about this game is that you can change almost anything you want with an alt you are playing. There can be constant evolution on any given alt without incorporating such a mechanic. It sounds like a cool idea for concept's sake, but I don't think it would work with the current game at all. Furthermore, I don't see the merit in devoting any development time to such a feature.
As far as testing powers out before you make a final decision- have you heard of the TEST server?
