Dual Purple Build
I could see purpling a dual build crab/bane or widow/fortune since they would play so differently. But what do I know, I don't have any purples
For melee characters, I generally run a purple build in slot one, and a Smashing/Lethal soft capped build in slot 2. For ranged characters, I also run a purple build in slot 1, and a build with hover and soft-capped ranged defense in slot 2. I will often have one or two purple sets in the second slot if it makes sense.
Two fully purpled builds, maximizing recharge and accuracy and recovery, is a bit redundant no matter how I look at it. My Fortunata/Widow is the only build that runs two fully purpled builds, but that's because she's effectively two very different characters.
I've used purples on both builds on a few characters. That was back in I13 where prices were lower and I didn't know much about defense, nowadays I hardly use purples.
The only one of my characters I've even considered it for is my Fort (alt NW build).
My personal take is that if I'm willing to invest purples in a build, I'm willing to invest the time into tweaking the build so it can team and solo effectively. Also that if I'm putting IOs as powerful as purples into a build, it damn well better be able to do both

I suppose you could, if you had the time and money.....but WHY?
I build my characters to be effective both teamed and solo, so for me something lke this would just be a huge waste of money.
Especially if I ever decided to scrap that character. I'd need twice as many respecs in order not to throw away billions.

I don't see why you'd purple two builds on the same character unless they were a VEAT and less so a HEAT.
Using the purple sets is pushing a build towards recharge, and that's about it. So with an AR blaster, for instance. Build 1 with purples is massive recharge, and build 2 is ... massive... recharge. What's the point?
No, if you've got the time/inf, make one purple focused, and the other focused on something else (probably defense).
Where to now?

I have learned that amassing purples if just another form of badge collecting. I find that there are ways to make a character efficient and fun using non-purple IOs. Personally, I almost never use purples. On a couple of builds, I might have one set slotted, but I don't get the fad. I certainly don't see the merit in dual purpling a build unless you just have a massive amount of inf. to waste and a lot of people that you want to show off for. My most durable toons don't even use them.
Words to the wise aren't necessary- it's the stupid ones that need them.
"You're right...I forgot...being constantly at or the near the damage cap is a big turn off. Definitely not worth it."

I have a AR/Trap corruptor that is "near-purpled out" for team play.
I've been considering spending the time to purple-out a solo version as my alternate build.
I've heard some folks TALK about maximizing both builds, but I have never seen anyone actually claim to own a Dual-Purple Build (DPB).
So. Thats the question. Does anyone out there have a Dual-Purpled-out Build? Seems like this would be the "New 50"
