Quote:DM is actually one of the better Tanker secondaries, y'know.I haveto ask...while those sets like SS getting ported over to Scrappers is good.
You have to feel sorry for the tanks! They don't change up the numbers! They need to change them up from the scrapper numbers.
Yeah, suuuure, Dark Melee for tanks makes them more survivable...so what?! It's so weak on a tank! -
Quote:As others have said, the "one shot" rule applies to attacks on players (but can be bypassed via things such as DoT or procs if the attacker is another player), not player attacks on NPCs. However it should be noted that mob health starts to scale upward relative to your damage output as you gain levels, so those minions you were killing in one shot with Fire Blast when you were a lowbie will take a few more attacks to take out when you're in your 30s or 40s. It's fairly easy, even then, to one-shot single targets with some attacks, though it's substantially harder to one-shot entire groups without using something like a Blaster tier 9.Hey guys. I thought I remembered there was some special rule that made one-shotting enemies of your level really hard to do. Something like if a player or mob is at full health, any damage will leave them with at least 1 hp. Is this true? I feel like there's been changes to this at some point as well.
Also, I seem to remember something about a few powers having an extra tick of 5 damage or something like that so as to get around the rule and truly "one-shot". Is this true? If so, which powers? -
Quote:Using transactions that literally cannot be completed on the market because they exceed the amount of inf one character can carry at a time is a very surefire way to undermine your own argument. The only reason people make more on that particular transaction is because there is essentially a price cap on that item, when sold via the market, which disappears when you remove the market from the equation. Please show how the OP's suggestion would cause such price caps to appear and I'll gladly believe you. Until then, you're spouting nonsense.Even with them selling at the inf cap of 2 billion inf ON the market there are ALREADY NUMEROUS people selling off market for 3-4 billion. Why? Because they discovered they could simply MAKE more by selling off market.
All that common salvage that routinely sells for 10 inf, or 100 inf, but could be sold to a vendor for 2.5 times more (or 25 times more)? That's proof that people will use the market even if they're not getting the best sale price for their goods, simply because it's more convenient. -
This. While the new email system will mean I won't need to use server transfers to move items between characters on a different server (the alternative is to sell the item I have and buy it on the other server), the ability to move characters freely as the need arises has been nothing short of wonderful.

RAFTW v dUmb (D6)
1. 14-0 dUmb
2. 8-6 dUmb
3. 22-0 dUmb
gg guys. No PvP IOs reported from dUmb.
EDIT: 1 IO in an 8v8 scrimmage, score was 10-8. -
Lots and lots of HP, so you don't die in half a second when you're out of BG range or you have your pets on the other team's Stalker.

Elk Talker, you should probably just shut up and read the initial post, which said D6 matches would be 6v6 from the very beginning.
-
Yep. Only things that reliably hit me through it are Tanks running Rage or Blasters if they catch me in an Aim/BU window (most zone Blasters are tards and will just see me out of hide and start slinging attacks). It's obviously weak against defense debuffs but that's where Invis and Phase come in.
-
The only power(s) that will instantly drop you out of Hover are webnades and their kin. Almost everything else will need to be stacked 2-3 times (i.e. Snowstorm, Spirit Shark Jaws). Don't want to get grounded right away? Use Hover instead of Fly. Sure, it's slower, but that's the price you pay for taking a really bad travel power.

Quote:You forget, this isn't feudal Japan. This is a videogame. There is win or lose, therefore I will do everything in my power outside of exploits to win and not lose. Regarding the permadom bit: I'm not sure where it all came from but I am kind of chuckling that you'd bring up permadoms wrecking face and then go off on a tangent about not using inspirations. Of course you'll get wrecked by something if you don't use the counters you have available.Obviously you all think that bringing break frees is the end all argument to beat Doms. (I don't really see how we got off track of the original discussion, but I'll roll with it.) It's a valid tactic. I don't have a problem with that. However, it's a tactic I personally find dishonorable. You guys go ahead and spam inspirations, I'd rather let the better build/player win the fight--sans inspirations, unless I see that they're eating them up.

Quote:40% base resistance gets DR'd to something like 26-28%. Adding a resist-based epic shield on top of that changes it into 38-40%. That's like having an orange up all the time... while you can get higher than that, it takes a lot of buff stacking to do so and isn't really worth a spot on a team just for it.For AT's that don't get high pvp base resists (mostly the non-squishies) resist buffs still have a lot of value. These also tend to be the AT's that have a more generous DR curve for resists.
For AT's that do get high base resists and have an epic shield stacked on top of it, they're already at or so close to their resist cap that resist buffs are basically wasted. -
The ability to pool cash isn't really an issue, unless you're spending it off-market where there is no inf being destroyed. Since there are only one or two items that regularly sell for above the inf cap, I don't think this is as big a concern as some people are making it out to be.
-
Less damage, smaller radius, double the recharge. Hits more targets, but that's not really relevant (I'd rather be able to kill a good number of targets very quickly than a slightly larger number of targets slower).

Quote:Or you just aren't reading what he's written, as he's never said any of the things you listed.Smurphy hasn't posted in this thread. Unless you are implying that Smurphy is posting on a secondary account or has changed his forum name. And if that's the case it means Chriffer is merely trolling the thread because if Criffer=Smurphy then he's been lying about
1. Not knowing how you can use the market as a bank to store influence over 2 billion on a character.
2. That players often do personal trades outside the market. (in fact I think Smurphy is someone that actually offers those services to help players with cross faction inf problems)
3. Not understanding that if fewer items get put up for sale on the market the prices for those items will go up. -
This is my (somewhat modified) adaptation of Con's first post-I13 Elec/WP build. I know he's moved on to a more expensive one that crams in more recovery and damage, but this one can handle running all the toggles at once and not bottoming out on end unless I try to get into a scrap-type fight (I don't). I usually drop SJ and turn on CJ when phase is up, as phase eats end like crazy.

Yeah, but people saying "this build was unbeatable" more likely than not didn't invest the time in figuring out how to counter that build. I mean, yeah, there were some really good builds (Ice/Rad and Rad/Psi come to mind), but someone could beat them if they were better than you.
-
Brutes have Fury. This alone is enough reason to pick a Brute over a Tank.
-

Well, ability to send to global names all but confirms that this will be cross-server. Huzzah! No more losing 10% of my inf to market fees when I want to transfer it.
(Yes, I'm sure someone will say "but that's 10% that would've been destroyed, so you're actually causing inflation." I'm not, because that inf is going to get spent, probably on the market, regardless of what server it's on. All I'm doing is making sure I don't lose another 10% getting the inf where I want it.) -
Quote:The solution, if you were dueling or in a 2v2 or something, was to kill them before they could stack enough mezzes to shut you down; or in a team match, have a good Emp/Therm/Kin/whatever to keep mez protection on you. Was it tough? Yes. Getting good at it was part of the fun, but apparently some people just wanted everything handed to them (yay, entitlement) so we got what we have now.Yes, bringing break frees was part of the strategy to defeat that problem, but the problem is, sometimes (with the way people could stack that stuff to high heaven) it just didn't help. However, I don't agree with the extent that they nerfed mezzes. Now it's basically pointless to bring a mezzer to a fight.
Mezzes? You've got to be kidding me. I much prefer the old mez system over the new one, and I didn't even think the old one was that good. Before, you could at least do something when you got tagged by a mez. These days you get tagged, your offensive toggles drop (gogo Rad and Storm), you say "I'm the spike target," and you're dead before the mez wears off because there's nothing you nor your teammates can do about it. -
Same thing that's wrong with every other slow. People were too retarded to bring Kins or Therms so they just removed -max run speed (but Super Speed still has +max run speed, wtf).
-
Quote:Elec does have Thunderstrike, which is basically a second AS when it crits (hello, 1000 damage crits on undebuffed Regens), therefore having a strong ranged attack isn't as necessary. However, there are times when I wish I'd had sharks to catch a runner (Dark Blast does at most 200-ish damage before procs against squishies and is really only useful as a finisher).Leviathan is preferred as you have no ranged attacks on an Elec/.
If I get tagged by an immob, I turn on CJ until it wears off, and then switch back to SJ. Regarding mitigation: your stealth is your mitigation on a WP, as you don't really have a lot of resistance to anything other than smash/lethal/psi and no real defense to speak of. You've got a solid self-heal up every 20-30 seconds, but it's usually used as more of an "oh ****" button to buy you a precious second or two to get off phase after you've been targeted. I find that between Phase, Shadow Meld, Reconstruction, and Invisibility (I'll toggle invis on if I need a getaway from a distance, as its stealth does not suppress) I rarely die unless I get mez spiked.
