Ice/dark/mu. Hands down
Two pets and power sink to fix blizzard crash
Dark has tons of control and debuff auto hitmag 2 stun stout self/pbaoe heal, mine haels for 444 about every r secs -
Without seeing the entire build, well, combat jumping is a good mule for recharge or even to push defenses a bit higher at min end cost.
Ialmost never take patrons on brutes unless it's astoner. -
I'd be worried it was the Solid State Drive. Depending on the brand and the technology SLC/MLC they have problems with writing and reading files and can be strange. I think Win 7 does a better job of recognizing SSD drives, but you should make sure Windows isn''t attempting to defrag your drive.
Like they were recommending download Everest and maybe Coretemp and see what kind of temperatures your graphics and cpu are getting. Check with the manufacturer on the max operating temperatures on those components. -
For Arch/Kin I'd say get RoA up as fast as possible. I plan on getting my recharge on RoA down to about 17-19 secs. Recharge and Accuracy bonuses will make sure you can fill up blue and green bars often. Redraw is kind of a ***** with the archery and kin, though.
-
One trick I use with defense bonuses is to use 2 of the Gift of the Ancients in the two toggles on /Shield. I'd take one slot out of hasten and put it in True Grit. Then take that slot and put it in True Grit In TG I"d use Two Miracles and Two Harmonized healing for more hit points. I started ignoring buffing the Resistance effect of True Grit and just using the hit point/recovery as it's benefit.
check out the extra recovery I squeezed out and see if you like it

Anyone explain to me how to get the datalink that you can click to load builds in mid's?
I'd rather post that instead of the clunky characters list. -
Yeah I realize what you mean about being malefactored. But let's be honest am I really to expect good defense at low levels on a shield defense. Shield sucks until you're almost 50 to finish set bonuses.
Yeah I am over softcap but I mostly do the ITF and once they hit you, they keep hitting you as they stack -def on you.
I'm talking about people doing 2 of a set and then Hami enhancements in the same power. I've seen it in builds.I don't even use those, don't see the point with Inventions around.
Ok, if I remove the slots from Stamina there goes another 3ish% AoE def bonus From Performance Shifter. AoE defense set bonuses are hard to come by.
Multi Strike? really they only give 1.8% albeit in two categories of Positonal but the other bonuses in MultiStrike are kinda weak, too.
To be honest I was swapping out touch of death and such and realized that taking the Grant Cover was a good team move and a good IO mule in one. Didn't have another power to put in place as I was balancing the build.
Another question: I've seen people slot a Highly-Positional defensive build such as this for regeneration bonuses.
What is the clear benefit from doing that. I just push the Positionals to 45ish% and call it a day, then get my recovery above 3 % and I'm usually good.
Thanks for responding. -
Really? No one has the time to look at this build?
-
Just looking around at how a lot of people are building brutes. I see quite a few NOT finishing set bonuses and sticking Hamidon type enhancements in random places.
Just like to know if anyone sees where I could improve or am going wrong in how I like to build brutes..here is one of my many /shield builds.

Try using the Windows Key as opposed to Alt Tab. I have to use the windows key to make it stop freezing when switching between my dual instances of the game. Try using the windows key while left clicking in the game..been doing that since July now.
-
I know how to use gaussian's, makos, touch of death, blessing of the zephr, six slotted performance shifter, obliteration's, steadfast unique and aegis to push very high positionals. I've already done so with Fire/SR
The SS/SR build I made is more for killing fast and not getting my *** handed to me. The /SR is so easy to softcap, I've put 57% global accuracy and 127% global recharge in this build. Not really shooting for overkill on positionals..this time All my /shield brutes are in that arena with set bonuses, they need it to be viable. Hell if you even NEED Elude it's back every 330ish seconds.
This is just an attempt at a VERY fast footstomp and knockout blow recharge and not gimping the secondary OR primary for it.
I like your end usage and recovery but if you need aid self on a Super Reflex then something is wrong. Why not take fighting? No Steadfast +3% def? That's a great way to push up numbers. Electrifying Fences...? the Immobilize will negate all the knockdown and Mitigation that Super Strength does, bad idea unless it's just a mule for bonuses. -
I'm just wondering am I the only /Shield Brute that DOESN'T throw shield charge from range? I ALWAYS run in with the damage/taunt Against all Odds toggled on, let that stack up and fury, then from melee once they're stacked and the mobs are tight throw Shield Charge. This just seemed the best way to get more bang for my buck. Comments?
-
Here is a very high recharge build for SS/SR. I guess you could substitute rage for combat jumping, but I prefer to get just over softcap.

Just like the stock market and investing: past performance doesn't guarantee future results, but look at the trend AFTER City of Villains was released in this graph from
http://www.mmogchart.com/Chart2.html
I'll probably be in City until they shut it down but I am hopeful this dedicated player base will be disenchanted by Champions Online as I am.
Here's something they also said on this page:
http://www.mmogchart.com/analysis-and-conclusions/
City of Heroes / Villains (Accuracy Rating: A)
Launched on April 28, 2004, City of Heroes is proof that a well-executed MMOG can still garner substantial numbers even in the currently very competitive climate. CoH quickly reached an initial peak of over 180,000 subscribers in July 2004, and then declined, only to recover again in 2005. In October 2005, a companion product, City of Villains, was released as both an expansion and a standalone game, helping to boost the games popularity to new heights. As of December 2007, the number of subscribers worldwide was 136,250. http://www.cityofheroes.com/ or http://www.cityofvillains.com/
For me, personally it means if they come strong as with the last issue (imo) this game should continue going strong. With the new SSK system and power customization (and seeing how broken CO is making me appreciate what we have here) I'm having more fun that I ever have in the "City". -
That's the defender. It's not a blaster.
Guess what: the Corruptor trades buff/debuff strength for slightly more damage
Defenders have higher values on their heals, debuffs/buffs AND secondary effects.
This is called balance. Welcome to a MMORPG -
What if....the new Gray/Neutral zone is Serverless?
What would you think about that? What would the advantages and implications be? -
I'd Suggest Fire/Storm for AoE madness and great scourge from Freezing Rain, Rain of Fire and Fireball. There is a -range, -to hit, knockback in Hurricane, plus a pet in Lightning storm. I also fit the heal into my build. It is end heavy so you'll probably want the Performance Shifter and the Miracle to keep it pumping.
-
I've actually been using build 7077 of Windows 7 x64. It gave me the 181.71 Nvidia drivers. This is also a GTX 260. This by far has been the most stable setup/build/driver combination I've used in all of the 6 win 7 builds I've tried. From what I understand the "7100" or release candidate build are very similar to the 7077. I hear that the 7088 was artificially bumped up to make it the 7100 build.
Anyway..Turn off that physx and try the 181.71 driver it should yield much more stable results.
Short of a server problem I have NOT crashed one time since using this setup. -
I've always used an underscore between powexec_name when binding teleport. I use the F button for teleport. like this:
/bind f "powexec_name teleport"
This makes the F button bring up the reticle and then all I have to do is click the destination of the Teleport.
hope that is helpful

Content is what we Need
Not only do I want more Zones..Give us more Giant Monsters and Zone Events Please..I love all the unique GMs heroside.
Can't be that hard to make new Giant Monsters in existing zones. Anyone here actually SEEN Caleb? How about that Arachnos Flyer...come on...something we can actually find and kill lol
