I don't have access to my spreadsheets for the weekend, but if I recall corectly 78% global recharge and 95% enhancement gives in average global recharge of 124%. Perma-dom requires 123% recharge. At that level, I find it's easy to get domination to chain 1-2 times. It will eventually end during a low-recharge period though.

Quote:We can haz retcon plz?In physics, there is the idea of unification. There are four fundamental forces in physics: gravity, electromagnetism, the weak force, and the strong nuclear force. Each is, at a glance, a completely different force. And they are different forces. But there's a theory that they are all aspects of a single force. But not in the sense that the one creates the many. How that's possible is through a process called symmetry breaking. The idea is that at very high energies, all the four forces appear to be the same. But at lower energies, differences in how they are mediated (transmitted) mean that the forces start to look different. The important thing to note is that the four individual forces don't disappear and get replaced with something else: rather they all remain and become indistinguishable.
That would have been a wonderful model for the origins, because it would amplify the idea that in a real sense, it doesn't matter what your origin is. If you pursue it high enough in power, eventually your capabilities expand to include everything everyone else can do. Instead, the opposite occurred. Canonically, the five origins are inferior constructs of a higher power, which makes the "incarnate origin" a super-origin, and not just what happens when natural or tech superpowers become so powerful they become indistinguishable.
That sounds like a great idea for the Well, an amalgamation of all the origins. Perhaps a being that was physical, technologically, and spiritually advanced but inspired different individuals to emulate it through different means. -
Another place to check out some AR is Nintendo's 3DS. There haven't been any really great implementations of it yet, but there are a few small gimmicky games. Given the recent success of Skylanders, I think someone coulld be sitting on a gold mine if they used AR and cards for unlockable content from items to characters.

Quote:Anime is a broad category. I'm not sure how you can hate it so definitively. It's somewhat akin to saying "I hate comic books."I am sorry I have absolutely no idea what that ANIME deal has to do with anything I said.
I apologize in advance I can't stand ANIME and have no idea WTH was going on in that video and how that ties into my comments about youth and their ready acceptance of technology.
The linked series in particular deals a great deal with AR. -
Looking at other people's setups I realize I am a filthy, filthy slob.

As far as control sets, anything that isn't Fire or Plant sits around the same level of damage.
Electric is probably upper-middle in AoE damage due to Synaptic Overload's contribution (before the enemies are sapped) and the Gremlins. Its immobilizes deal the same damage as those found in Earth, Ice, Grav, and Dark with the added benefit that the damage from Chain Fences is coming in one lump some rather than the DoT of its cousins; procs and Interface can make an AoE immobilize a considerable AoE damage tool. Electric also avoids the internal conflicts found in Earth and Ice (knockdown controls vs immobilize) and the cumbersome positioning of dark. In terms of single target damage Electric is a bit lacking due to the longer activation times on Tesla Cage and Electric Fence. Of course, as a Dominator, your primary shouldn't be a major consideration in single target damage.
As for Psi Assualt, it's generally good AoE damage but average-at-best in single target. It's melee powers have moderately long activations and Telekinetic Thrust can sometimes be unwieldy to use if you don't have a source of -kb. However, the -regen from Drain Psyche is often very useful against strong single targets (some AVs and GMs).
To sum up, you happen to have selected two powersets that are weaker in single target damage. That can easily lead to feeling slow when you have to whittle down bosses after the rest of the mob is gone. -
Well, it wasn't a nuclear weapon so the damage isn't safe to assume. It was Cole calling the combined incarnate power of Zeus and Tartarus which may have had a very localized effect.

Quote:You are seeing time as too linear.
Player 1 "Hi, I am a Preatorian!"
Player 2 "How?!?!?! Cole blew it all up!!!"
Player 1 "What are you talking about? It was still there when I left, and Cole had saved us all by stopping the Hammidon!"
Player 3 "Perhaps he has hit some form of time slim in coming through the portal?" ***** Eyebrow like a Vulcan.
Really, is the scope of RP so small in Europe?
Also, chronologically events roughly lines up with our leveling. That is to say, the events that occur at level 50 are generally considered to have happened after level 20 content. -
Quote:I'd fault MMORPG.com for not assigning someone more familiar with the series to the stream or brushing up on CoX a bit before the event. What I have REALLY learned today. Letting the press play before the players is not a good idea after all.
Then there were some technical glitches that kept us from hearing from the devs. That surely would have helped feed us some better info. -
Looks interesting. I'm glad there's more magic being introduced to Praetoria.

Quote:Hey, don't insult my Pokemon. They can actually fight instead of just gawking.Personally, I'm also in the camp that has no use for vanity pets. I've never been one for the Pokemon approach to in game pets, but that's my personal preference. Perhaps I'm privileged in the fact that I can see that there is a significant portion of our Community who is excited by vanity pets and show us so. It may not be good for me, but it's good for other people who really enjoy this type of content.
Quote:I can sum up what Darth is saying with a little less rage;
It's extremely poor to release the set that had barely any testing, and hold back the set that was tested since December. On top of that, a Set people have been wanting for years is being held back versus a niche set that was, again most importantly, poorly tested.
Top it all off with Paragon Studio's lack of concrete release dates = people are pretty pissed we're getting the 5th and 6th blatant shelling of the four-legged rig niche instead of stuff MORE people want, aka Staff Fighting. -
Quote:What?Let's not forget: the wind was really sucked out of the Staff Fighting hype when someone last year did some Pigg Diving (obviously) and released a video of the set.
So you can thank your fellow players who continue to break the TOS and release information. So when a set gets exposed ahead of time (thanks, pigg divers!) and ruins all the potential marketing and hype that might have gone in to it, you'll have to learn to understand why it does't get rushed to Live
Judging from people's reactions on beta and the general desire to have staff fighting expressed in this thread, I find it hard to say that any of the hype has been lost. The leaked video showed some very nice animations and interesting powers which, if anything, has bolstered the desire for it. Withholding information (as they did with Dark Control's tier 9) doesn't generate a desire to play the set; it produces short term buzz which dissipates after the reveal and frustration as evidenced in this thread. Ultimately, any powerset the produce will stand on effort and production values behind it and not silly marketing gimmicks. -
The thing to bear in mind is that in fighting GMs regeneration debuffs go a long way. Many people overlook that Howling Twilight deals -500% regen and only use it for the rez. That coupled with -res in Tar Patch and additional damage from dark's pets means dark/dark has a lot going for it versus a GM.

This was the topic of discussion all day at work.
In no particular order, the things I would do:
- Pay off debts for myself and family members.
- Establishing savings for my nephews and niece so they can attend college.
- Instant retirement for my parents.
- Disappear.
-
Depending on the slot, the tier 4 can make a significant difference. Alpha and Lore benefit more from moving from tier 3 to tier 4 than some of the others.
With Destiny, I feel it is somewhat better to have a variety of options at tier 3 rather than having a single tier 4. With some trials favoring particular branches, Clarion for UG for example, I prefer versatility over a moderate increase in the power of effects. -
Quote:this is actually not true. when i did the first mish of mender ramiels arc with my dark dark dom (the one where your given all those stat boosts), having capped rech was more than enough to perma shades and i even had 2 pairs of shades out for about 10-20 sec
it is always possible it is not intended but the shades really dont live long enough to be that big of a deal to have 4 out for a few seconds instead of 2Quote:I thought this too at first, but I've had 4 out at once many of times. My recharge is sitting somewhere around 115% before hasten and Haunt is up most times when needed.
I've also noticed the Shades failing to spawn when the target dies or, in the case of Carnie Master Illusionists, when they are untouchable. That certainly seems like a bug when they're failing to summon on a living target. -
I would love to see the temp powers stack.
I use the recovery serum and plasmatic taser fairly often. The mark III power analyzer is somewhat useful and I've used them to collect information on particular enemies resistances and mez protection. -
Personally, I think the new Fade is much better. The old one never suited its role for a panic button. Boosting someone's defense seemed a poor option in the presence of controls and heals. It was alright as an opening strategy though, but the duration and recharge made for some pretty poor uptime. They could have preserved that role by tweaking the duration and recharge alone.
Comparing it to Farsight, I think Fade is by far a lesser offender in terms of being overpowered. Ruling out Power Boost was a good move, in my opinion. And Fade requires significantly more recharge to make permable while Farsight, even requiring less recharge, has the added bonus of having any recharge bonuses built into Time Manipulation. -
Those airbending kids are just downright adorable.

City of Data list Haunt as a non-stacking power. If correct, the second casting will kill off the first set of Shades.

Mind control specializes in aggro free control. Pets have a bad tendency to aggro mobs at inopportune times.
Quote:An enemy can deal up to 50% of the damage on a target and the player will still receive 80% of the XP; anything less than 30% of the damage won't even reduce XP by 10%. The only time the player receives no XP is when they deal no damage. Generally, the amount of XP lost is miniscule and the benefit leads to more XP/time. Consider that while the confused enemy expedites defeats by adding damage, it's also adding safety and, if Confuse is used smartly, buffs and debuffs for the player.ok i understand some people regard a confused entity as a pet, im trying to get my head around this... In my definition a confused entity is ... well a confused entity (an entity made to belive his allies are his enemy and visa-versa) and a pet is a pet (an entity casted by the owner to help the user).
Also you get full xp for a pet defeating an entity but you get either reduced or no xp from a confused entity defeating an entity, so can someone please help me here, am i wrong?
If I were to suggest any buffs to Mind Control, it would be in Telekinesis. It has the highest endurance cost of any toggle power, a poor target cap, and a long recharge. I'd change it be something like a ranged Choking Cloud. Bring the endurance cost down from 3.12 end/sec to .83 end/sec, raise the target cap from 5 to 10, change it to mag 2 7.42 second hold that can self-stack with a chance to Overpower for controllers and mag 4 for Dominators, reduce the recharge to 20 seconds. -
Quote:EBs have a base protection of 6, but AVs only have a base protection of 3. You can sleep an AV with a non-domination powered Mesmerize (mag 3.5).Nice post, Vysires. One important point is that base protection for Elite Bosses and AVs is actually 6 points. Then add the 50 for Purple Triangles of Doom, for a total of 56, which is just a little more than 6 x 9. Thus, 10 castings minimum.
To confuse, the AV you need 54 magnitude (50 PToD + 3 base) to reduce their mezz protection to -1 at which point they'll be confused. -
Quote:Right there is your answer. What's the deal? My Plant/Kin by comparison is a damage monster -- Fulcrum Shifted Roots, Stranger, and Creepers. Plus Earth APP for Seismic Smash, Fissure.
To begin, Plant's immobilizes do twice the damage of the standard immobilize; that's more bonus damage than Fire Cages. Secondly, the Shades are no comparison to Creepers in terms of damage; they cycle a single damaging attack and a damageless fear. Creepers, on the other hand, are bringing damage from two Vines attacks and the AoE immobilize in the bramble itself. To top things off, you'll have Seeds of Confusion expediting enemy defeats.
Finally, you've got Fulcrum Shift vs. Tar Patch. Though FS only buffs base damage and TP's -res will buff all damage, it doesn't take a long time for the stacks of +20% damage to overcome the -30% res that TP provides. -
Personally, I'm not committing to a build yet for my dark/dark. If the changes to Fade and Soul Absorption come through, you may want to change your slotting. With the proposed 60 second duration and 210 second recharge, Fade will be permable.
