*sigh* I do get tired of seeing threads about how 'Natural' and such origins aren't represented in power choices or power sets. Natural doesn't just mean that he has no real powers or depends on tech to fight on par with his fellow heroes/villains.

Natural can mean many things, most of which equate to said person training himself to attain such powers (for lack of a better example: Goku and such from Dragon Ball Z) or his powers come naturally to him (Superman) Natural does not just mean you're Batman or Green Arrow.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I think the issue here is that a lot of people want to make natural or tech characters like batman or green arrow (i.e. no superpowers at all, just skill, training, and/or gadgetry).

Sure, you can always come up with some kind of explanation for how a natural origin character can manipulate fire with their mind, but it's like trying to stick a square peg in a round hole. Sure, you might be able to jam it in there if you try hard enough, but it doesn't really fit.

To the OP. I agree with you on this. I would definitely like to see a new devices or gadgets themed control set. The dominator set would be cool too.

Between Guild Wars and the AI of certain NPCs already in the game, my only reply to this has to be "If I wanted to die quicker, I could do so without their help."

    [/ QUOTE ]

This. If you're not sure what we're talking about, go run any of the missions that involve Fusionette as an ally, then come back and you'll /unsign your own suggestion.
  3. Oh god no. Please...THE HORROR!!!
  4. Running task forces is (in my opinion) the best way to make money by just playing the game (i.e. no farming or playing the market). Just earn those merits and buy rare recipe rolls with them. There's lots of stuff worth several million, and a few things worth tens of millions.

Overall though, I think playing the market is the easiest way to make money. Once you know what you're doing (and have enough seed money) you can easily make 100 million per week or more spending only 10-15 minutes per day at the market.
  5. I think that what you're not taking into account here is the fact that merit awards aren't really calculated based on risk. They're based on average completion time.

Compare the STF with the Numina's TF. Not counting the merits for defeating the flier (which we're not supposed to get anyway) they give roughly the same number of merits (38 for Statesman, 36 for numina). They take roughly the same amount of time to complete, due to the large number of hunts in the middle of Numina, but overall, the Numina TF is MUCH easier than the statesman TF.

Overall though, I think your answer 1 is closest to the truth. I think that as long as we're not getting our rewards too easily (see what happened to comm officer farms), they don't really care if it's harder to get them for some things than others.

I would like to see it fixed though. Maybe for the STF and a Hami raid, if you choose a hami-o, you get some merits too, to make up the difference.
  6. The acid armor set is really underpowered. The lack of melee defense coupled with the ridiculously low fire/cold/energy/negative resistance and NO psionic resistance would make this set a nightmare to play against most enemy groups. Even in the low levels groups like the outcasts would tear you apart.

The ignore list size doesn't matter. By the time a spammer falls off your ignore list, they've been banned. The real problem is that the spammers push people that you've manually /ignored off the list.

    [/ QUOTE ]

This right here is the heart of the problem to me. I'd really like to see us have 2 ignore lists. 1 would be for if we use the standard ignore, and the other would be for if we used the ignore as spammer function.

It's sad to say, but I've actually stopped reporting the RMT spammers because I don't want them pushing people off my ignore list.

    Resurrection IO

I don't really see a need for this to be honest. We have plenty of ways to get to our feet again if we die. We have wakies (and the ability to turn other inspirations into them), we have self rez powers in some sets, we have powers that can rez an ally in other sets, we have temporary self-rez powers, etc. I can't really see why we need this. And we don't really need any more defense or resistance IO sets either, pretty much all the niches are filled. I would much rather see them give us more PBAoE sets or something else where we only have just a couple sets.

This is yet other thread that wants to take up the Flag of "farming is a legitimate play-style".
The players that follow this banner fail to understand that what they want to be "legitimate" isn't.

The DEVs don't want farmers in the game. The DEVs feel that farming is reduces the longevity of the game. The DEVs made it clear that they didn't want anyone using the AE as a farming tool and that players would be punished for doing so. The DEVs dropped the 10-ton hammer on some of those farming the AE.

Farmers cried that they were being treated unfairly. Farmers cried that they should be able to do what they want to do if they pay to play the game. Farmers still want players to think that farming is the way to play the game. Farmers try to make it appear that farming is the only way to get the things that you need in-game that you need to be able to play the game. Farmers distract players from actually playing the game.

The act of farming cause a imbalance in the game that causes others to want to farm in order to be as uber (, l337, or whatever lingo you want to use) as the other people exploiting the system. Farming feeds on itself. It is a blight of greed that self perpetuates.

Farmers lead others into the "easy way" of farming that takes them away from actually playing the game.

There is no place for farmers in the City of Heroes (either side).

It is against the EULA to promote or support an exploit.
Why would the DEVs have anything to do with "supporting and promoting farming"?
Burn down the farms and drive the farmers from the City.

And, yeah, I'm proud that I can stand up for what I believe in and take steps of my own to keep farmers out of my gaming experience involved with CoX. It has made me a target for harassment and still I stand my ground for what I believe in.

Others can help in the fight against farmers too by reporting farms in the AE, 1 staring farmers using Add Notes, turn on the option so that you can see stars over players, don't game with farmers, and put farmers on ignore in the forums and in the game.

Farmers have no place in the lower level zones - at all - ever. This worse and most recent act of blatant exploiting and bemoaning of rights to abuse the game have brought me to this final and intolerant stand against all farmers.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You're wrong on several points here actually.

    1. Farming in general is NOT an exploit. Some types of farms in the past have been considered exploits (fire tanks herding huge maps of warwolves, or outdoor hazard spawns, comm farms in the AE, etc) and the exploits have been removed.

    2. The devs aren't really against farming. They're against powerleveling (because they think it causes people to get bored and stop playing sooner), and although lots of farms are used to powerlevel, farming in general does not necessarily involve powerleveling. My wife and I frequently run lib farms for purple drops with just the two of us on the map and no lowbies at all.

    3. People farm for a reason, and it's not just because people see a farmer and say ooh, he looks powerful, I want to do that too. Granted, there are certainly people who do farm for just that reason, but there are others that have other reasons. Some people don't enjoy certain levels of the game and want to get past them quicker, and others farm because they want money faster, to buy the things that you can't get in a realistic time-frame playing the normal way. If the devs addressed these reasons somehow, maybe people would farm less.

To the OP, your suggestion isn't necessarily a bad one, but it'll never happen. The devs tolerate farming for the most part, but expecting them to embrace it is probably asking for too much.
  10. I'd get behind this, but I really don't think it goes far enough. I'd like to see the team search function completely overhauled. I'd like to add functionality so that teams who are looking for more players can be listed that way in the search window as well.
  11. Like the others said, there's no point where you CAN'T solo anymore. I think it gets a little harder once you reach about level 40 though. AVs (or EBs if you're below invincible difficulty) start showing up a lot more frequently at that point, and even as EBs a lot of them can be tough to solo. Snag a shivan, or even bring a tray full of purples to pop and you should be fine though.
  12. Okay, that's what I thought. So how does it pick them? Is it the 5 closest to you, or 5 random ones within range, or what?
  13. The game isn't really ours or theirs. It belongs to NCSoft. The Devs create the game for us to play, not themselves, so it's important for them to create something we like. So while we don't really have any control over what the devs do, it is beneficial for them to listen to us, because like any other business, this one needs to keep its customers happy, or they won't stick around.
  14. Hmmm, probably Archaeokinetic, my earth/kin troller.
  15. Okay, I have a question about how the target cap works. Let's say I'm surrounded by 10 guys, and I use an attack with a target cap of 5. It hits 4, and misses 1. Does that miss use up the 5th target in the target cap, or will it make a to-hit check against another target until I actually hit 5 targets?

The devs intent was and still is for level 1 characters starting in Atlas Park to be able to use the mission architect.

    [/ QUOTE ]

You should have no problem providing the link that shows any the devs saying that.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    Massively.com article

In the audio interview with Joe Morrissey on this page, listen approximately 9:15 into it. He specifically says toons can go from level 1 to level 50 inside the mission architect.

Combine that with the fact that the devs put an AE building in Atlas Park in the first place, and it's pretty clear that they intended for level 1 characters starting in Atlas Park to be able to use the Mission Architect. If they hadn't, there wouldn't be a building there.
  17. I second Smurphy's recommendation of a ss/fire and fire/kin. If you want a little bit easier play, and aren't willing to sacrifice a little bit of speed, I'd go with SS/WP and a fire/kin.

One thing to keep in mind is that if you ever plan on doing Lib farms, SS/Shield is not the way to go. Nemesis pretty much ignore defense altogether.
  18. [ QUOTE ]
The larger problem is simply having an AE building in Atlas in the first place. Farming or not, it is detrimental to new players experiencing the "real game". Never should have been put there to begin with...

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, that's not the larger problem. The problem (as you see it) is farming itself. The devs intent was and still is for level 1 characters starting in Atlas Park to be able to use the mission architect. Removing the building from Atlas goes against that intent. And like it or not, AE IS part of "the real game" now.

Read my previous post for what you should do if it's bothering you so much.

    Leveling sucks.

I'm right with you on this one m3lon. I don't really enjoy the game before level 22 where I can get SOs and have stamina slotted up. I do occasionally like to go do the hollows or faultline, but more and more frequently anymore, I'll just run my characters up to level 22 or so in AE farms so I can get past those levels as fast as I can.

It's not that I really enjoy farming a lot either (at least not AE farming, I am kinda fond of old-school lib farms). I actually find the AE farms fairly boring. It's just that I find ALL the pre-22 content and gameplay to be pretty boring, and at least if I play it in AE farms, it's over much quicker.
  20. I absolutely agree with Ian. Asking the farmers to move to another zone, or asking the devs to remove the AE building from Atlas solves NOTHING. All you'll be doing is moving them to another zone. Do that, and within a couple days, there will be plenty of people complaining that now the farmers are in their favorite zone.

If it really bothers you that much do one of two things.

    1. Move somewhere else.

    2. Try to reduce the actual amount of farming going on.

Wanting the farmers to move is nothing but classic NIMBY syndrome. You don't care if it goes on, you just don't want to see it.

I would like to see something done about the pre-20 endurance situation.

    [/ QUOTE ] Slot better.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I'm well aware of the necessity of slotting endurance reduction early on, as well as using blue inspirations.

Like I said in my earlier post, I feel like neither of these options is enough. Dealing with a lack of endurance does not make the game more fun for me. I also don't regard it as a challenge. It just slows things down and makes the pre-20 levels boring for me .

    [/ QUOTE ]

    fixed.

I don't find the pre-20 levels boring. I also don't seem to run out of Endurance as fast as you either.

I guess my system has a different set of physics than yours which means the Devs think I'm awesome.

    [/ QUOTE ]

I didn't add the words "for me" because I thought they would be assumed. Who else would I be talking about when I say they make the early game boring. The only person's opinion I'm qualified to give is my own.

And I'm not really sure how you'd know how quickly I run out of endurance. It's more likely that we simply have different ideas of what is an acceptable endurance recovery rate.

I like the game fast-paced. High-speed, no-stopping, constant action. Having to deal with endurance problems at any level of the game is not fun for me. I simply have more tools available to make sure it won't be a problem after level 22.

I'm not really in favor of the OPs suggestion, because I actually like taking swift on most of my characters. So his suggestion would just mean more powers for me to take if I wanted the same level of performance I have now.

  23. Honestly, he might last quite awhile. I wouldn't have petitioned him had I not read his bio. The thing he's ripping off is obscure enough that I wouldn't know it was a ripoff.
