Bloody Bay: I like this zone, its a pity that higher lvl chars cannot use it though
I like the fact that you have plenty of room to move around and a nice mix of environment...But to much water (damn water bug).
Sirens Call: My favourite. Even though the broken part is a pain to fight in "ooh im stuck under some rubble", it is the zone I like best and the pvp zone I spend most time in.
Warburg: Meh..If you could cross team it would be much better.
RV: terrible zone. They might as well just make it a pve zone.Far to many mobs, and the stupid weapons emplacements are pointless and a bad idea.
If they were proper forts it might be better.
I want a pvp zone with a mix of interior and exterior areas.. -
Glad other people are having to struggle to think up relevent reasons
For Mercy Knight my villain it will just be a result of his recovering from the insidious power nullifying drugs/tech that Longbow used on him in the Zig...Though Im not sure I want to lose the cloak
Damselfly saddly would need insecty wingsso at the moment none of my heroes would have wings .

TP can be an amasing tool in pvp if used well, it can be end heavy though so I would not use it for a prolonged chase.
But as this is a stalker build it should be ok,it does give a great escape option but you will have to keep an eye out for assorted types of lag/slowness.
Get the handy tp bind too, to speed up its use. -
Ok In my sleep deprived state, I started thinking about the role of superpowers in the CoX universe and I have a few questions....
1:Sports/competition. Are "supers" allowed to compete? I am assuming they are not allowed to compete, but it does raise some other questions.
2:Equal rights. Do "supers" have the same rights as normal humans or are they prevented from taking certain cereers due to their abilities?
Example: Would an empathic defender be allowed to practise as a "healer" or work as a Doctor?
Example: Would Captain Super brain "the living giant brain", be allowed to enter chess competitions?
Example: Would DocTechnogeek be allowed to market his inventions even though no one else on the planet could replicate them orr understand how they worked?
Example: Would a spines or Dark type hero be allowed to work with normal people at all..Given that one oozes toxin coated spines and the other eats souls?
Or are all "supers" coerced/encouraged into working in the "hero" proffession either as a hero or support staff or do they get "de-powered"?
Are supers allowed to join the military/run for government/work in financial institutions? -
I've noticed this a few times when I have been stalking with my DM/SR, and when my heroes get stalked.
Its not the most harmful bug around, I still dislike the way hide does not work at long range. -
Ah the perils of pvp bases, perhaps one day the devs will realise that the reactionary dropping of drones everywhere does not help at all.
-
Sounds like the life of the scrapper to me, and pretty much matches up to my experiences with the DA set.
-
It should not be to hard to get things that only apply to pvp/pve, perhaps even PvP only characters/costumes.
-
If I did not have to grind the annoying low lvls to get to pvp, Id live in the pvp zones.
As it is Im having a break at the moment just so I can buckle down and get some other chars to pvp lvls(lvl 20+)...That and trying other games (RFonline is such a tedious grind fest and sooo out of date tech wise).

was in RV ealier fighting a brute, all going well, fairly slow, regen vs respites. suddenly im getting double teamed by another brute and a heavy.
This is when i hit MoG, 13 seconds later i was dead anyway and the first brute complained that by using MoG i had violated Duel Rules.
ermmm what exactly are the duel rules? as far as i know its 1 on 1, posibly with no buffs beforehand
[/ QUOTE ]
Duel rules?
Hehehe.
Well according to some "people" I think they're like this.
1: No inspirations (For the use of inspirations is evil).
2:No stealth powers (For stealth kills kittens).
3: Melee characters are not allowed to use any form of armour/resistance power as this is not fair on squishies.
4: No use of healing powers.
5:No allies or buffs.
7:No running away.
8: No moving at all.
9: You must not defeat your opponenet, to do so would upset the other player and destroy their delusions of greatness.
10: The above rules do not apply to your opponent, who in fact MUST do the opposite while whinging about even the slightest thing that may make things hard for them (planetary alignments, cats, cake, disease) and blaming the other party for them.
--
Seriously as others have said, there are no rules.
Just try to have fun and dont take things to seriously -
By that I mean before they started messing around with the debt in pvp and sticking random drones everywhere.
-
Hmm isnt this like how it used to be? Except now with scaling?
-
At least its not something limited to the villain base.
It is very easy for a villain to do the same thing to heroes (easier in fact). You can get right above the hospitol door and attack heroes as they leave the hos/enter the zone. -

aaah, its so hard to get a definitive answer
if ice is better for pvp, how does it do in pve? I do like to solo quite alot, coming from other games where grinding has been paramount leveling the pvp missions solo is where I got most of my levels.. but I fear as a blaster I may end up with more debt than levels
[/ QUOTE ]
Again it depends on your play style, just on paper Ice has two major advantages...
1: A snipe power.
2:faster animations.
3:Oh and it slows people. (yes I know thats 3).
I took sonic as it seemed to have a nice mix of powers that I thought would help a newplayer quiet well (attacks, stuns, sleep). -
The problem with my combo gens was annoying, asfor the duration of their "invisibility" they were not producing any control or energy. I bugged it.
-
I shall try to get back to the CT farily soonish, im taking a bit of a break from cov at the moment due to loosing all my shine for it
I know more people from my VG will be back online soon, assorted busy life stuff and computer issues.
Edit: Though I am moving house soon so wil be losing connection to cox for a few weeks. -
rooting times are a problem, but it is a fun set to play with.
Shockwave: I think this power is underrated by many, when I respeced my powers, this was one power I made sure I kept(dropping Howl instead), in pve it is a godsend.
In pvp its my mastermind killer, scatter the pets away from the MM,maybe use a KB melee attack as well. Then finish the MM off.
It does very low damage though, and tends to not KB most players, but it is handy to move mobs out of a pvp combat(like a leaf blower). -

lol, well noticed MQ!
I presume you have the tp prompt on? Good lad!
Right, rant on...
Hate duellers. I will attack you and I will not give a monkey's if I'm sent to the hosp for the 504th time, I couldn't care less what I'm called over any channel.
The behavior noted in the OP will reinforce my resolve ten fold.
HOWEVER, I have nothing against duelling in a PvP zone, I like to do it, I like to watch it and on occasion I quite happily let people get on with it. ( by crikey, that could sound so wrong...)
My point is, it's a PvP zone and serves that purpose, so when I or anyone else is 'duelling', it is done under threat of attack from people there to PvP and that's the way of the land. What I do not condone is the self righteous, self appointed 'rule makers' of a zone and particularly those that would enforce in such a fashion as stated in the OP. That type of play disgusts me and a whole host of other players; you should hold yourselves responsible for potentially putting people off PvP and address your actions accordingly. Any action seen by myself or, heaven forbid, against me, will result in a petition being sent for grieving.
Rant over, still loving PvP, loving PvP action the PvP zones and look forward to plenty more of where that came from.
Cue argument nearly as old as time!

I agree its getting silly now. People getting angry and threatening players over the use of inspirations, accusations of cheating...
I took my Tank into BB and was accused of "cheating by using inspirations " by a villain..Its not my fault if my Ice armour allows me to ignore his silly calptrops and then mace his head into a pulp
Despite that the majority of pvp for me is fun and good, though I guess we are due another "silly" period again where the fools gain in numbers. -
[ QUOTE ]
Indeed.
I'm regularly quoted as saying: "Actions are not evil, intentions are"
[/ QUOTE ]
I thought you it was waffles you most quoted as saying -
As an aside this did remind me of my first empath/rad defender I made. It was my second character and I pretty much geared it up to be nothing more than a combat medic.. All the green powers and as many attacks as I could get.
So I probably contributed to the stereotype there
At the time my reasoning was sound..I was petrified of being a buff/debuffer as it looked fairly complex and something that if you sucked at the whole team would dieeeee.
Heh, I even respeced out CM to take the /rad snipe power and tactics. At the time that made sense too , I solo'd a lot as I had 250M RAM (ten minute zone loading times) and CM was a pretty pointless power for me.
It worked for quite a while too, but then I was teaming with a fairly regular group of people and our sets complimented each other quite well..Then I tried a Grav/Kin troller and have not looked back at that empath sinceThroqing out the buffs and holds is much more fun and when it works really does feel like a job well done
So I wonder if Empaths are the "starter" set for defenders, and if that explains some of the misunderstanding about defenders generely. (Though I still say borking the game by using the standard AT pattern of "warrior" "Ranger" "Mage" "thief""cleric" "wibbly" does not help). -
Usualy its a view held by people who are poor team players and suffer from the "Me" syndrome. This game is about "Me" this team exists for "Me", you will all support "Me" so "I" can have fun.

If it was frosty I would understand the need for more healersBut Atta is just a big green baby :P
All I could do was healing aura and heal other...Two buttons over..and over..and over again.
[/ QUOTE ]
Are you kidding me about Frosy being tougher than Atta? I managed to Solo Frostie with my Empathy'Psionic Defender (or should that be healer?)
As far as an empath being boring to play "pre buff" with "only two buttons" I have had some of my most frantic game play in those situations! I was racing around like a scalded jack rabbit trying to reach players whos health bars I could see going into the red.
Finally, if everything is under control and there is no healing actully needed in a fight (rare in most PUGs I concede!) then Empaths do have a secondary that can do bit of blasting.
I do feel that there is a particular attitude or mindset you need to relly enjoy the Defender AT and the Empath in particular. This boils down to the fact that they contribute "indirectly" to the fights in most cases.
I also think that those posters that diss on the Defenders/Healers are often those who cannot enjoy them or fail to appreciate their subtlety.
Still each to their own. We Champions of the AT will keep on bailing 'em out with nary a crumb of recognition for our eforts. LOL
[/ QUOTE ]
I've never found Atta to be much of a problem, though frosty allways makes me aware of any mistakes I make, and allways highlights the weakness of any PUG.
I did not have to do any racing around, the pugs I got into were brutaly efficient. I only had to use my secondaries a couple of times to draw aggro from a fellow squishy.
Though a couple of smaller groups I was with recently were much more frenetic (all blaster but me) :P
Secondary powersets? Lies I tell you! Lies!!
((thats a joke)) -
It was really nice to see other people having fun and showing enthusiasm over the hunt
Though I have to say after the second Lusca got dropped it did get kinda creepy, with the swarm of spandex clad heroes swarming accross IP like bloodthirsty locusts
The poor GMs did not stand a chance.
So whens the next one? -
Poison is king !
Holds,slows,-regens,-damage ,sleep,-end
Can get end heavy, I swear my char must of dislocated a spleen gobbing out all the goo in some fights against AVs -
Combo-generator: I had a problem with this in two bases(coh and cov) where it vanished, but was still there just invisible and un targetable and non-functional. I loged out and then back in and all was back to normal.
Energy room:
A bit more info could be handy. If a generator is built , and visible, and targetable then it should be producing energy.
