I hav a ice/rad. respecced into CJ/SJ. never looked back
But i am almost purely a team troller - so keeping standing and mob management are my main aims rather than damage output.

following recent discussions with high level empaths - I now continue to 6-slot recovery hasten and RA. RA really doesnt need End Recov.
I hav noticed a difference, albeit not great.

sonic/devices going well so far - up to lvl 14 now I definately see a differenc ein damage output already. Although I really come into my own in a team!! Esp.ly with the sonics debuffs.

Jackie is ok - when used right.

Slick is amzing power. And holds are not bad. MOst Teams I hav played with hav really appreciated me. Must say that ice/rad is prob best played in team though, were slows and slicks keep mobs off balance. Damage output is relatively low; and hav found soloing difficult

didnt realise that cloaking device is part of the device range. Does have CD make taking Stealth from the pools not necessary? or do the 2 stack up??

Alos - does slotting targetting device enough - or does furhter 1-slot in each primary still necessary?

been following this thread rather closely - as i have recently returned to my empath.
I esp.ly like the 'brown stuff' hitting the swirling thingy device reference. - cos i feel that is compeltely accurate. In a gd team - a healer is more or less icing on a cake rather than, well, flour or sugar or eggs (ie essential ingredients).
I am beginning to see the whole diff - ie healing to buffing change in the game. The 1st 10 lvls are really hard going. Esp.ly with the ever growing tribes of 'wot is debt' noobs. Lvl 10 - lvl 25 - very gd time, but your primary duty is mostly healing, and boy do they need it.
At 30 and above - I am constantly CMing, Forting, ABing and RAing. Now - for every1 who has had the nice blue stuff - aint it gd? I guess the prob is - when an empath is doign his job right - well - results arent spectacular, just less people die. The effects are mostly in the backgrd.
I am hoping there is much more left for the empath to do, as I am now on the cusps of lvl 40! And hav rediscovered the joy of empathising
Is the empath necessary? prob not. But then again - can u say any AT is truly necessary? The empath adds a nice boost to a team. Think of us as high octane fuel. It keeps your car running more efficiently and smoother. Nice for your car; but not ultimately necessary all the time.

Now here is my plug - I am mostly a reasonable healer (except when I occasionaly, accidently invis the team tank - oops ) all invites apprecaited - as I am (finally) trying to go for a 50!

hey lode - long thread!
therea a lot of changes taking place in CoH. I prob feel it more acutely as I take long breaks and come back. And even in the space of a few weeks - huge changes take place. I'm not talking abt in game developments; but to the 'feel' of the community.
But in essesnce - that is wot makes any MMORPG so gd isnt it? The dynamism of it all (be it for the better or the worst). Many a time - I hav felt the way u hav, but I hav yet to give up on CoH; cos I find the game fun. So a few people annoy u - hey, thats life And just chalk it up to experience.
If people are forming cliques - so wot? Do u want in such a grp anyways?
I spend as much time with my SG mates as well as PUG. SG -mate teaming is far more efficient, and can be loads of fun, but if u just do that exclusively; well - u are contributing to the whole elitism thing urself then. PUG can be a gamble- but u get to meet new people! And IMHO - its teaching/showing people how u can play this game with courtesy and friendliness by ur own actions - is the way for teh community to grow and to improve.
Play the game. Play the game the way u like to play it. Dont let the bad apples spoil ur fun, cos then - they win. And if good poeple like u leave the game, whose gonna help change the game for the better?

never been a big fan. but there are defiantely 2 camps when it comes to AW!
Has me too close (same argument could be used for glacier though, but i love that!)

hmmmm... never really though regen aura was much use.
but i am a big fan of AP. Animation time is a lot quicker; and yes, a bit dangerous but useful.
Regen aura + AP . interesting - i respecced out regen; but must give this a go!
Why no adrenaline boost?

I am a lvl 37 empath.
I certainly have not seen any severe drop-offs in invites - whether PUG or coalition members. However, I have noticed a severe drop in my necessity in a team.
I often feel that 'it would be nice' to have me a long; but ultimately not necessary.
Was in an exceptional team last nite - kudos to Phobos of the Femmes - with buffs; the team was just going from one mob to the other. But to be honest; they could hav coped with it even w/o me; albeit a little slower.
But empaths - like all other support ATs - are never essential. But then again - CoH is abt the teaming (for me anyways) - its abt the mix, not the indiv content which makes for a fun evening!

btw travel power is individual choice! u can use the tp friend to self tp route (still 2 power choices as it were)

I sort of forced myself into super spd - ok at low lvls, but lack of vertical options is a prob.

hey there. Individual builds unfortuantely suit different play styles. I am a real team troller, and I like to keep out of melee range. Almost never solo. I am also not a big fan of artic wind.

Thats where I am at the moment. I skipped Frosbite - find its too heavy on End and not much use in teams anyways. Single immob more end efficient and better control (ie i can choose targets)
Instead of the Fitness pool; i had taken frostbite and grant invis - but started to have End problems is sustained battles. Respecced to above.

Gratz to u hedges! and to the rest of the team - that was an awesome nites teaming. Hope to do it again sometime (but hopefully more at my level!)

dont know the numbers, but i guess part of the problem is that the radiation powers are less obvious

oh well.....

i use the mid pot for : (i) hold aggro (ii) minion killer. So i guess it isnt gonna make much of a difference. Cos t0hit's for minions must be pretty low anyways.
Wish they could tweek it so that damage is better - i think its possibly one of the lowest AoE effects in the AT!

I'm mostly a healer, so dont know much abt tankers; think some of the info might be a bit out of date. But as a whole coldfront has good guides.

i wouldnt recommend it mate.
I only have lvl 22 stone/fire tank - and recently had to rethink him following I6; and the major change was to swap out SS for TP. Just had him on a few mish's, and it makes a HUGE difference. Also this bind makes TP a lot easier to use = /bind LSHIFT+LBUTTON "powexec_name teleport"
Depends on the type of player u are i guess - ie best build, or the build that u like. If u really hate TP, SS is the other obvious choice. SS doesnt make that much of an impact to the speed penalties unfortunately; but that opinion is pre-granite armor only.

again - its play style me thinks. I hav always played the tank as the meat shield ie protect the grp. Therefore, i cant really play him faster (cos he doesnt really do that much damage)
But then again, i hav almost never solo'd, more of a team player - so damaging not so impt, as i rely on on team-mates (esp.ly blasters and scrappers) to do the damaging. ED has almost made team working more impt.
This, i think equally applies to the blaster set. Just means u hav to change tactics. Still workable and fun to play !

welll..... i dont think so. i agree with the last post. ED has only shaken up the way peeps play; thats why peeps are [censored] off. My main is a tank - want to talk abt nerfed?!
But what i enjoy is; essentially playing the AT, ie in my case, trying to absorb the dam and keep aggro. If anything, ED has made this more of a challenge, which is, after all, teh point of playing - right?
I dont want to sail through my progress to 50; i wanna to enjoy the trip!

I hav played with Lui and his alts several times. i like CoH (still) and give every1 a chance. Repeatedly; i hav been nothing but civil to him; and hav always had abuse. Eventhough he considers me a friend (cpt Chicken). Dont think he means it; but it does make for an unpleasant playing experience. And gameplay, if not for anything else - is abt the fun.
Like I said though, I hav a lot of latitude for peeps; and hav not put him on ignore, but he is certainly pushing hard!
I am all for 2nd chances TG; but i hav given him repeated chances, IMHO i think peeps will hav to accept him for who he is, or just ignore him.
