Quote:I look at thinsg the same way JamMaster does. Yeah I have 50 level DM/SD Scrapper that just tears things apart... I soloed most of the missions required and she is the ONLY charater I own with Dimensional Warder to pounds on all 13 of the Preatorians required. Okay on one or two she pulled out a Shivan or a left over WaarWolf to assist but with most it was pure damage and self buff. You do have a point. DM kicks alot of ***!
That being said. Stylistically you might wanna try something different?
I hate repeating sets and do so as little as possible.
Maybe cuz kat/wp>dm/wp?
That said I like trying new things and just can't see having an army of DM/WP... cause WP is, sorry, better that SD scrappers and never trying anything else. I guess part of that is because I like the challenge of developing strategies that work for whatever power sets I am using. I have a good friend I have played with for most of the four years I have been in game and he's an amazing herding Tanker. He has, I think, four of five of them and can Tank for me anytime. LOL problem is he creates a Scrapper or even a Controller and wants to play them the same way he does his Tank. I usually team with him using my ILL/EMP Controller and when he isn't tanking I spend half my time, or more, healing him casue he is racin headlong into mobs with an AT that has no business RACING into mobs. I was just as guilty as he is now at one point. I started out with a Regen Scrapper back before the nerf when the running joke was "A Regen Scrapper joins an 8 man team and they head into the mission. Scrapper tells the team.. wait here a minute and then after watching all sort of XP and INF add to their totals they get a mission complete. Scrapper posts in team chat.. Okay we can move on to the next mission now!" Well along with another friend we decided to try out Blasters. We'll he was yet another Tanker at heart and back then I was in Scrapper lock... we tried and tried but just couldn't get into the builds and for a long time I was absoluetly certain sooling with a Blaster, an Blaster, was impossible. Then I creates an Arch/Ice and by then I was actually playing with my powers and discovering the way to make them work best. I was amazed at the accuracy of Archery and Ice just made her tougher. Point is I now enjoy playing all sorts of AT with a variety of power sets.
Hey if all you are ever going to build is one DM/WP Scrapper after another nd you already have one or two to level 50... may as well cancel your account and go play something else. You have accomplished everything there is to do in game so why keep repeating it over and ove exactly the same way? Try something different and have fun! -
Okay I keep seeing this thread and just have to respond. Guys this is nothing new! Back when Cryptic and NC Soft shared this game the exact same thing occured with numerous issues. Probably the closest example to this was Issue six which added, for the frst time, SuperGroup Bases. Every time I logged on the same questions kept popping up in broadcast. "Has anyone heard anything? Did they announce a release date yet?" It got so bad as time drug on and the Devs were busy fixing whatever bugs were delaying start that if a regularly schedule maintenance shut down took even five minute longer that the maximum two hours everyone was sure it was because they had loaded the Issue and it would go live in a day or two!
All the reasons for "No News" have been listed here. The Holidays just ended and while you may like to think that the Devs are just mindless geeks willing to work day and night to get out that new issue you want... fact is they were probably on vacation at home visiting relatives. We just got word of several changes in management with War Witch taking some of Positron's duties.. I've switched jobs before in the past and right now she may still be trying to figure out the shortest route to the nearest bathroom. Sending out a press release when there may or may not even be any news to release is not high on the priority list. We are talking a major new release. This is not "hey we revamped the Hollows and here's a few new powers sets" This is about the same as when the first release COV .. they are creating a whole new world to battle in and as they go along they are testing, finding, and then trying to fix the bugs.
What I do now is.. once I see it's in OPEN Beta where the players can go in and help find the "little" bugs that don't show up until you add a lot of people running around I just don't worry about it. Historically once it's in Open testing, unless they find a HUGE bug that needs to be repaired, in a few weeks to a month you will see it go live. Don't forget they also have a habit of not having two things happen at once so let's say they are all ready to release in early February. Okay what's just about to happen in game? The yearly Valentine's Day missions in Pocket D. Players live to get in there and earn those badges on any new characters they have created since last Feb and they will delay release until that ends and probably add a week or two between before even thinking of releasing it. PLEASE DO NOT READ THAT LAST STATEMENT AND START RUNNING AROUND SAYING "Wicked_Wendy says it's coming out in late February!" LOL Like most companies they are very careful not to make promises they may not be able to keep. In other word "If we don't tell them we are ready and will release in two weeks. If something bad comes up that delays things for a month they can't get angry because HEY YOU SAID IT WOULD BE OUT NOW!"
Relax a little and enjoy the game.. Go join an ITF and take out your frustration beating up Romulus or a Stateman TF and pound on Lord Recluse for a while. Soon enough we we all have the chance to start beating on Tyrant and his crew in their world. -
Okay welcome to the wonderful world of Controllers LOL Here's a few combos I use and enjoy that I have soloed with quite nicely.
ILL/EMP - Superior Invisibily coupled with Confuse and your Phantom Army and Phantasm equals mayhem in the ranks of you opponent. I have stealthed into missions cinfusing entire mobs and watching them pound each other while I fired off my attack and send in the pets to finish them off. Empathy allows you to heal yourself, along with boosting your recovery and recharge rate although I have done missions where I didn't take a single hit point of damage. With Dual Builds i even have one set to team and one for solo
Plant/Rad - a little slow soloing at first until you get enhanced and then between all those crushing holds and Immobs along with your debuffs you can handle just about anything solo. Here again I have dual builds because teams love my holds, immobs and debuffs.
I have other combos and have soloed ith them but I tend to love to team. those two I have soloed with very succesfully with and think they are worth considering Oh by the way i have a 50 level Ill/Emp that soloed off and on all the way to level 50 and even did missions against Malta and drove the Sappers and Gunslingers insane turning them against their own comrades. Hey have fun! -
Quote:I agree Okay so they came up with something new for me to do with my 50 levels (19 at the moment and 9 more in the 40s). I've never really retired any of them anyway. Sure I have plenty of lower levels I am moving toward "END GAME" but when friends get together and want to do a LGTF, ITF, STF, Hami raid, Mothership raid. or whatever I am in a situation where I ask.. "What do you need I have a 50 level in every AT?" My 50 level Taxibot recently started leading Task Forces on Friday night.. I'm talking Posi, Synapse, Siste Pstche, etc assisting other players in earning those badges. You know you don't have to do End Game content, right?
There's no way I'll even run half of my 50s through End Game stuff, but I look forward to the opportunity to revisit my favorite characters and play in some type of new, challenging content that I haven't done before.
End Game content is an unqualified good.
Hey END GAME sounds like fun and give me something new I can do with all those 50 I grew to love as I took them up from the sewers of Atlas to exploring new dimensions through Portal Corp in PI. Will getting the END GAME content on as many as 28 level 50 characters take a while? Sure but I wasn't planning on going anywhere anyway. Hey it's new content. I have been here 4 years and have always heard people screaming for NEW content.. sounds like a good idea to me.
NOW, *grins wickedly* You really want to start a panic have them announce "Oh and by the way we decided to increase the maximumlevel to 60". The dust storm created by all the 50 levels coming out of retirement will block out the sun for months and start a new ice age. Hey there's an idea .. a new zone always frozen, ice and snow, with evil Penquins (the animal NOT the Batman character) and semi friendly Polar Bears drinking Cola! We could add new costume pieces like fur lined parkas with an option for the hood up or down and Mukluk boots. We create some Eskimo contacts and a special contact you can unlock.. some fat guy that hangs out at the very northen most part of the zone. He always wears red, has a white beard and laughs way too much. LOL Okay done kidding around.. but I do see End Game as a good thing but when I complete it on a character .. its still NOT the end of the game for any of them. -
I have a ton of characters but the one that really sticks out is my first 50.. My Taxibot Ill/Emp Controller after I had Confuse and Superior Invisibility I found myself inside a mission stealthing and turning entire mobs against themselves. I'd add my attacks to help them along and then when there was one dazed, confused, and half dead villain left I'd walk up, turn off the stealth and finish them off. After a couple mission I realized that I wasn't even taking damage... OMG I am awesome!
Best part was that abilty and the rush never stopped I was able, when I felt like it, to solo with her all the way to level 50 and did all the missions from Indigo and Crimson turning Sappers and Gunslingers into my own little puppets and letting themm along with my Phantasm and Phantom Army, take out everything else. OMG.. I can make MALTA cringe!
Of course being a Taxibot I had Recall Friend so it became very easy to find task forces since I had about the best stealth available aside from a Stalker and I had my first ever Task Force Commander with her as well.
before I created her I had serious altitis and after 2 years in game had exactly zero 50s. A combination of being determined to get SOME character to the top and her ability to solo or team well lead to a 50 level in about 6 weeks.. that was with no power leveling, no farming, and only playing a few hours a night since I worked long hours including one extra weekend a month at that time. She is my serious badger with closing in on 500, yes I still play her, and after I got her to level 50 I found it a lot easier to continue and now have 19 50 levels and another 8 characters between level 47 and 40 as I post this today. I guess you could say she not only came alive for me but showed me the way to create a small army of high level characters of almost every archtype .. the only 2 AT I don't have at least one 50 level on are Warshades (have one at 43 right now) and Peacebringers (Sorry I don't have any lol). Am I still an altoholic? yeah but now I am one that when the call goes out over the globals saying "I am forming a ____ TF" I send a message back saying "Hey I'd like to do that... what do you need? Because I can bring anything you like and they are all 50 levels!" LOL -
Quote:I have to agree with Westly. The system was kind of broken from the start the idea being to keep you and a friend at the exact same level.. fine I decided to try it with a good friend I'd known and played with for quite a while. We even figured, at the time, we'd level faster since we both had a tendancy to BE on at the same times so we'd be getting a lot of Full XP or better days (with patrol XP and bonises for logging in Police stations). Then the trouble hit. His "good" compuet died and he was forced to start playing on an older slower one that kept him from teaming with more than1 or 2 players or the lag was som bad he was useless. Unortunately his finances didn't make replacing the newer faster PC anytime soon and he finally gave up for a while and went off to ply WOW. Okay I was still in the pact and kept playing my low level TANK figuring I'd get us some levels to at least 20 so he'd be able to get stamina wthout all that popping blues and rssting every other mob. Well it was gonizing teaming and watching other players dinging left and right while I slower made my way from level to level. Then I finally hit 20 and still no sign of my pal. With SSK and the opening of the hazard zones, I honestly don't even see the point of level pacts anymore.
Now I start felling really guilty if I play the character, which I liked, because my buddy is a serious badger Sure I am getting him XP and influence but now as I level I'd be forcing him to time travel and even beg lower level teams to let him join to pivk up badges he'd missed while I was moving him along while off line. And when I say serious I mean serious .. this guy didn't have ONE character that was his badge toon he went after every badge on every toon he owned. This was also before SSK so to get those Task Forces and Bank Mission badges he's be playing for NO XP.. and spending even more time NOT helping me level at all. This doesn't even begin to touch all the recipe and salvage drops he wasn't getting because he was being leveled off line and the man loved to craft and play the market.
Finally when weeks rolled into months before he returned I sent him an email and just told him I was breaking the pact. I explained why and told him I'd love to team with him when he was able to return but I had to start making better XP and NOT feeling bad about what I was making him miss out on. Fact is now with SSK my tanker, now in her early 40s, could easily team with his Controller without any leveling pact required and I could even drop back and do HIS missions and still make good XP and INF. Hey with the level restrictions gone on most zones he could even do my missions no matter where they took us and pick up some defeat and other badges he'd normally have had to wait to even think about... As proof I tested this recently since I have 2 accounts and took a 15 level blaster to Striga to team with one of my 50 levels. I wasn't looking for XP, INF, salvage or recipes.. I hunted Warwolves and Vamprii with the low level in tow and in under an hour the low level 15 LEVEL blaster had the Atlas Medallion and a 5% increase in END. who is to say I couldn't do the same thing with him in TV for Freakshow Bosses and the Shard or Fake Nemis and get that same 15 level the Freedom Phalanx Accolade as well?
Multiple Pacts? up to 8 players? Hey I don't want to be the one player that can get on line a lot and painfully slowly earn XP taking 8 times the number of missions to accomplish it while the other 7 level at the same rate doing nothing. Sure I could take say a 10 level character and hook up with a 50 level team and make decent XP but then I'd be powerleveling and not just myself but 7 other players as well. And that's if I can find a 50 level team that wants my few low level ttacks when there are 30 and 40 levels out there looking for those same 50 level teams and they offer a lot better team support than I would. No I think the Pact is a dead issue I am sure ome people made it work but with what we have in place now who needs it? I can team with anyone at any level and earn everything I want or need at a normal rate so why plug along at 50%? -
Whoa! I have a LOT of characters and all with background stories so this could take forever but a few that stand out include:
Agent M-1 who was, at time, a mutant with special powers until Crey got hold of her and used her to test variety of methods they were developing to strip supers of their abilities. Manticore convinced her to train until her "Natural" power emerged.... ANYTIME she can get a mission again Crey she is more than ready to go.
Solaris Vantu is an alien and her home work was destroyed by the Rikti so she will do anything, short of abandoning a mission, to tackle and defeat them.
Kimiko Mioshi is a college professor with an interest in ancient artifacts, sort of my female version of Indiana Jones.. Fedora included, so she is usually found battling Circle of Thorn or Banished Pantheon to take back magical artifacts they have stolen.
Ragin' Rebel is a wild Cajun with Mutant abilities and simply likes a good fight. Having earned the TAsk Force Commander title he lves nothing better than chanrging headlong into huge mobs and using his super strength to pound on minons. lieutenants and bosses until nothing is left standing. When a call goes out for help with any Giant Monster he grins happily and heads off to kick some serious butt. LOL
Taxibot Sara is an android with an emotion chip that seems to delight in driving Malta insane. Using her superior invisibility she will sneak into their bases and conuse the Sappers and Gunslingers that make some heroes cringe and confuse them. Once she turns them on their own men her Phantom Army and Phantasm rush forward to defeat all. Originally designed and built by Crey for sale to the military before the project was abandoned due to budget cuts she discovered Countess Crey planned to reprogram her to battle superheroes and escaped after a heated battle... anytime she can thwart the Countess and her evil plans she is ready to jump in and ruin the Countess' day.
Most of my characters became more active after or during the first Rikti invasion so they are all inclined to rush to battle the Rikti menace at any given time. All but a few belong to both Vanguard and the Midnighter Club so they have dedicated themselves to eliminating this menace for good. All seem to enjoy the challenge of a good Giant Monster fight.
as for DON'TS .. in a RP sense none of them really have any group they simply won't battle. -
Okay I play on Virtue too and I am curious just when are you logged on? Okay YES Baby New Year and the Winter Lord were preoccupying a lot of players when the event first started but even then I had no problem finding an AV team in PI with my Plant/Rad Troller. I ran a Sister Psyche TF on Friday and it took all of about 8 minutes to fill an 8 man team. And that was after another Sister P had JUST formed in front of me. Yesterday I spent most of my on line time crafting with numerous characters in base and had no fewer than 4 Tells asking if I wanted to join a team. All the while seeing announcements for a variety of TFs and Trials forming if I had wanted to join them. You are on Virtue so here's a suggestion.. Join the following global channels:
Virtue LFG
Virtue Alpha LFG
Virtue TF
and Virtuebadges09
There is an almost steady stream of players forming some team somewhere. My apologies to those that enjoy running and shouting DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM .. but Blue Side on Virtue is far from dead -
I love this!
"Bye Boys.. Have fun stormin the castle" .. also from Princess Bride
"It's the small room at the front of the plane where the pilot sits.. and please don't call me Shirley"... Airplane
and this one the Dev have used with numerous NPCs in game...
"The amps go to 11".... Spinal Tap -
I'm not sure if a glossary exists or not but to give you at least a bit of a heads up"
LGFT Lady Grey task Force 45+ level TF that originates in the Ritki War Zone (RWZ)
ITF Imperious Task Force 35+ level TF that origintaes in Cimerora
Both of these are also Co Op Task Forces meaning both Heores and Villains can join ans team together
Lets see already explained RWZ
STF Stateman Task Force 45+ level TF that originates in Indepnedence Port (IP)
MoSTF same task force only done with a number of limit to include NO deaths during the TF and you face a LOT of Arch Villains (AV) including Black Scorpion, Ghost Widowm Mako, Scirocco nd Lord Recluse himself in the final mission.
MoITF same sort of thing as above only during the ITF in Cimerora
a Hami Raid is short for a Hamidon Raid in the Hive .. entrance found in Eden,, usually requires about 50 heores working together to take out the big Jello man and earn either Hami-os ( Hamidon Origin enhancements) or Merits
Mothership Raid takes place in the RWZ and like the Hami requires 3-4 teams working together to take out the protective pylons so you can attack the ship and earn Vanguard Merits
IO Ivention Origin Enhancements built using salvage and recipes either found running missions or purchased at WentWorth (WW)
AE Archetect Engineer the huge buildings located in most city zones where players can write their own missions and plays one created by other plateys
TO/DO/SO Training Origin/Dual Origin/Single Origin enhancements that have been around since the game began
AT Archtype . justa short way of refering the different types of Heores available such as Tanker, Scrapper, etc
AV Arch Villain
GM Giant Monster
MA Mission Archetect see AE
then you get into the power shortcuts:
DB Dual blades
SD Shield Defense
AR Assualt Rifle
KIN Kinetics
EMP Empathy
DA Dark Armor
DM Dark Melle
SS Super Strength and also Super Speed Sorry I didnt make the abbreviations I just live with them
and the list goes on and on
Well that isn't even close to all of them but gives you a running start
Welcome back and hope you are enjoying the game -
Quote:I floated this idea a long time ago with mixed feed back. I thought I'd try it again to see if the climate has changed. I think there are certain builds where the forced selection of beginning powers is detrimental or results in powers that essentially will be lightly or never used. While I understand that there may be concerns about new players gimping themselves in the beginning of the game if pool powers were opened at character creation, I think by the time an earned respec can be had, they should know enough to avoid that pitfall. So, what do you people think about opening up power pools at level 0/1 upon an earned character respec?
I fail to see how this is in any way helpful? Pool powers open up at level 6. At level one a character can take one power from their primary and secondary. At level 2 one from either and at 4 one more from either. That is, prior to level 6, a grand total of 4 powers. Now let's take a DB/WP scrapper for an example...At level one I can pick from 2 attacks in DB Power Slice or Nimle Slash. And High Pain Tolerence from WP. WHile neither attack will eventually be my most damaging what can I possibly ick up at level one from the pool powers that helps me more? And since High Pin Tolerence increases my HP and ability to heal with NO endurence cost why would I pass on that to take anything else?
At level 2 I pick up Ablating slice as an option in DB and Mind over Body (which protects against Lethal and smashing damage) as potions. Again which POOL power can you possibly suggest that I would want to take instead of an attacj that decreases my enemies defenses or adds to my defense against close range attack (since I am building a melee character)?
At 4 level I still have the option to take which ever one of the 3 attacks I haven't already taken or add Fast Healing (which again is always on and takes little end to use.
I'm just not sure WHAT you think is more important than powers like these.. Fitness pool? I still can't take STAMINA (IMO the most useful of all the choices there) until 20. Travel Powers? I still wont be able to get FLY, Teleport, Super Speed or whatever until level 14. Leadership Pools? Hardly.. all of them are end heavy and offer no more protection until enhanced than the defenses I already outlined. I sure am not about to gimp my attack chain in the early game to take anything from the Medicine pool and I can't see wasting powers at that level to take stealth?
Frankly I don't see any need to change the way it is. I am not sure WHAT you are building but I don't care what AT or what powersets we are discussing.. I fail to see any pool power that is going to make any HUGE difference over the liited choices I have rom my own primary and secondary pools at those low levels. All I see is a chance for an uneductaed player to GIMP a build even more. I have seen Defenders that advertised themselves as PURE Healers.. with a grand total of one attack and the entire medicine pool in addition to EMP. I saw one player that had FLY, TELEPORT and SUPER SPEED....someone explain to me why anyone needs to waste that many power selections on travel? No I don't see this as a good idea at all. There is no benefit from it and all it does is allow players like that to put together even stranger " Concept" builds that do nothing to help themselves or anyone they team with. -
Kind of depends on the situation and if there was any previous notice by that player that they might be AFK a bit. I'd say always until at least end of mission.. Hey if the team you built is so fragile that one player being AFK is the difference between victory and a team wipe you have a lot more problems than just one player not moving.
If a player actually said hey guys I have a RL thing to take care of anyone mind if I go AFK? You can even kick my if mission ends and I am not back yet. I have seen numerous Team Leaders even give that player the benefit of the doubt once the mission ended for a but... Hey we all need time to level up. enhance, sell at Wentwirths and crft from time to tim e anyway so why not? Esepcailly if the player in question had been a major contributor prior to RL interrupting. So why not give him a few minutes to come out before booting him/or her out?
This does get tricky at time.. One one occasion on the Synapse TF we were all looking forward to the battle with Babbage just before the final mission. Well one player went AFK and when we all came out and waited, and waite, and hunted... No Babbage. The only thing we could figure was because that one player was still inside, technically meaning the previous mission wasn't over, Babbage NEVER spawned. Even after the that player finally dc'ed inside the mission for lack of activity. Too much time had gone by since Mission complete and the only thing we could figure was it messed up the spawn so Babbage never showed up.
But kicked after 30 seconds? No I have had mapservers that didn't actually log me off but made movement of any kind impossible last longer than that... I'd be just a bit upset if I came back and found myself outside the mission just because the game got laggy for half a minute and I couldn't move -
I'm afraid I have to agree with those saying NO to the idea. While, in theory, that sounds like an interesting idea and would allow heroes and villains a safe place to shop, sell, ect without the worry of being attacked it has definte disadvantages IF it was to become the ONLY place in game to do these things.
1. Not everyone has a VIP pass to the Tiki club and those that don't would now need to purchase one to get to a tailor. True the Tailor could be moved to a spot in the public area but this would also mean that everyone from a 1 level with Halloween salvage to a 50 level that just wants a new look would all be headed to ONE spot for their costume needs. And if you are suggesting this occur for Hero and Villains we'd be talking everyone now playing either COH or COV. Way too many potential clients for ONE tailor or even one full sized Tailor shop to accomodate.
2. Not everyone belongs to an SG. So a 50 level on Peregrine decided to get a new look or design a new outfit and now they need to Ferry to a zone with a door to Pocket D just to get to any of the many stores, etc you want to place in ONLY Pocket D. That doesn't cut travel times it increases them since on 4 zones hero side have a door to the D and only 3 on the Villains. Only other option would be to add a doorway to Pocket D in every zone on both COH and COV.
3. As you mentioned it is already a CoOp zone with missions available at Christmas and during Valentine's Day. Lag during these periods can get bad enough for people that meet the minimum requirements but don't possess the fund to have the "fastest" PC and one set up for gaming. Putting every enhancement store, Tailor shop, and Wentworths in that one spot would increase the lag daily let alone during those events.
4. Tailor Missions... Currently each tailor shop requires a hero or villain to run missions against a "Level Specific" enemy in order to earn their 20, 30 and 40 level costume. So unless you plan to have 3 Tailor shops in Pocket D, along with door ways to the zones where those enemies can be found, you know force the Devs to recode so that the Tailor hands out level appropriate missions to each hero that comes looking to earm those costumes.
What you are suggesting would require a tremendous amount fo coding along with expanding the size of Pocket D to actually make it work and I simply see no reason to do so. The system inplace now has worked for more than 5 years and in many case, while there is a bit of travel involved, most of it in in the same zone that players for that level are already in. What you suggest is doing away with ALL that and forcing every player to come to one VERY laggying spot to conduct those same details. -
Oh I wouldn't say all of those are impossible... Council troops includeoness with Sonic waepons so the tech/coding exists. Same with wands on certain magic characters. Love the body double PA and Phamtasm idea but that may take the devs some doing to code but doesn't seem impossible to do either. From what I understand cars, motorcycles, and planes are not gong to happen.. not sure why but apparently the coding would be a nightmare. LOL I like the pogo stick but no idea what it may require to code that... how about some boots with springs that pop out of the bottom.. ALA Inspector Gadget?
Overall I like the idea and woouldn't mind those as added options at all :-D -
Okay Norblasts video aside (hich is kind of cute) .. do what some of the other suggest. Form you own teams and run 8 man missions.. hey if the team is strong enough up the difficulty and take on Purples not Yellows. Look for teams advetising in PI that are running AV missions... AVs pay out an amazing amount of XP and with the new exemplar system a team leader isn't afraid to invite anyone since they all get auto leveled to 49 (if the leader is level 50).
Some other ideas you may consider.. Since I don't know what all you have done to date. Check out the Task Forces and trials.. again with the new system for Exemplaring you get full XP even doing the lowest ones and keep powers up to 5 above the maximum level of that task Force.. which means even on a Positron TF you can keep your permanent travel power and Stamina (if that's part of your build). I did the Posi with my Plant/Rad at level 36 and was a level 37 pushing 38 when it was done and without stealth we finished in just over 4 hours. Do all of the big 6 Posi, Synapes, Sister P, Citadel. Manti, and Numina and in addition to gaining quite a few levels you pick up TF Commander Adding to your total HPs. Posi takes a good deal of time even now but quite a few of the others can be completed in 2 hours of less and you also gain a bunch of Merits.
Try the 1st and 2nd Respec.. short (4 Missions), good number of bosses (High XP) and again Merits at the end you can use for whatever. Once you pass 44 you can also do the 3rd respec against the Rikti and even gain some Vanguard Merits as well.
Don't forget the higher TFs.. the ITF and LGTF offer a challenge, merits XP and with all those Bosses, EBS, AVs and the need on a couple missions to defeat 100 or even 300 Cimeroran Traitors the ITF is always a great way to earn influence. Those things seem to form day and night so you can almost always find one somewhere looking for members. Keep in mind people are speed running some of these now so it may cut the XP you gain but there is still the same need to defeat a BUNCH of villains and that means a good deal of XP.
When all else fails, and I personally don't do this often, find a farm. But look for a good farmer that actually expects you to pull your weight and help. Nothing seems more boring to me than sitting at the entrance while a Tank and a couple Fire/Kins circle a 2 block neighborhood crushing everything in sight while I fall asleep. Good farmer do exist.. ones that want you to stick with them and help take out the hordes an 8 man team creates. And these are the places people are going to mine the treasured PURPLE recipes so once your high enough you can either become VERY rich or VERY powerful as the purples drop.
There are a thousand ways to play the game and none of them is wrong it just depends on what you enjoy. Unless I can't find anything else I avoid farming and prefer good AV team. Pounding on the likes of Maurader, Black Swan, and the Tyrant beats running in ircles defeating COT Demons any day as far as I am concerned.
Well that should give you a few idea anyway.. good luck out there and HAVE FUN.. it is a game we ARE supposed to be having fun! lol -
Quote:I agree with Claws .. I have EMP Defenders. heck I have EMP controllers, but I also take ever attack power in their secondary and enhance then for damage and accuracy. No I am not going to do Blaster damage and I certainly am not rushing head first into a mob and trying to fight face to face like a scrapper or tankers but I do offer team added damage and can solo. These days with dual builds I even specialize and have on build dedicate to team play, heavy of enhancements for heals, buffs etc, and the other a solo build that eliminates things only a team benefits from and add things that enhance my ability to survive and fight... No Rez, cant use it on myself so why take it, No Fort or CM for the same reason. Add things like leadership that add to my defenses and damage output. When they get high enough I even like to pick EPIC based on soloing and teaming taking ones that add pure damage and defense for solo and ones that add holds. ect for teaming.Everyone CAN kill things.
Just some ATs are better at it.
My Rad/Sonic takes offense at the notion that he can't kill things. In the right situation he can approach blaster level damage. But what he specializes in is keeping the team safe through making it's opponents weaker.
Even the lowliest Empathy defender can kill things if you build for it. A duo of Emp/Sonics can be one of the nastiest combos in the game. Sure, if you take nothing but team support powers and skip your attack powers, never even slotting the one you HAVE to take, you're damage output is going to suck. That's a build choice and not a disadvantage inherent to the AT.
The defender's strength is keeping their team alive through making them stronger or their enemies weaker, a tanker keeps their team alive through agro management, a controller keeps their team alive by limiting their opponent's actions, blasters and scrappers keep their team alive through killing their opponent before their oponent can kill them.
All can defeat enemies, but some do it better than others. The ones who are better at defeating things are worse at other things. Blasters and Scrappers excel at killing things, but they don't bring much else to a team. You never invite a blaster for their debuffing ability, you invite them to kill stuff. Same with scrappers, except scrappers have the added bonus of being one less teammate a defender has to worry about keeping on their feet, because after level 35 almost all scrappers are self-sufficient.
I don't consider my Rad/Sonic defender to be a "support" character, because I built him to deal damage. I could have just as easily built him to buff and debuff exclusively, but I didn't.
CoH gives you much more leeway to break the mold than some other games. A defender doesn't HAVE to be a "healer" any more than a tanker has to be a pure agro magnet. You can build a scrapper to tank or a controller to deal damage, you can build a blaster to control.
They won't be as good at any of those things as the AT that was designed to do it, but it IS possible.
I ignore the idea that because I made a defender I must be a healer. I just don't like anything dictating to me how I'm going to play. If I want to build a scrapper to control, I can. It doesn't mean it will be any GOOD at it, but it is my decision.
It all depends on what you want to do in game. I enjoy soloing and teaming so I do both. If a player wants to just solo then stick with ATs that do it easily... Tanks, Scrappers, Blasters and Controllers (not all power sets but I have ILL/EMP 50 levels that not only solo well they solo MALTA). Defenders are, as the name implies designed to DEFEND but even they can solo. Myself I love Task Forces and Trials, Battling Giant Monsters, and taking on AVs in Peregrine and most of those require a good strong diverse team. Yeah there are the exceptions... There are people that battle GMs and win soloing but frankly I am not spending the Influence to enhance and the TIME to do that...not when I can earn the came badge as a member of an 8 man team in a fraction of that time and move on.
It all boils down to what does an individual player want to do. Me I like to try different things I have 40 characters I play and that includes Tankers, Scrappers, Blasters, Controllers, Defenders and Warshades. I have different powersets to see what they do and so I can devise strategies that make them all work. Some solo just fine, others thrive in a team environment while others can do both well.
The game is designed to be played by teams even though some ATs can colo nicely. There are TFs and Trials no solo artist will ever be able to do unless they break down and join a team. There are specific missions, although avoidable, that require 2, 3 or more people to click glowies at the same time.. if you don't have AT LEAST that many team mates along there is no way to succeed. If all we had was 100,000+ players running around soloing constantly they might as well have made the game something you could upload onto your PC and play offline. Now would I be hurt and dismayed if the Devs suddenly decided to give my Defenders damage like a Blaster or increased the damage resistance of my Blaster? No not a bit but I think (heck I KNOW) they purposely designed weaknesses in each AT to make teaming more appealing. -
Quote:It all depends on the strategy you plan to use Fyre and as for IOs and Accolades the point I was making is take a 50 tank and a 50 level Brute .. neither has any IOs just SOs and neither has any accolades adding end, hp , etc to boost their effectiveness... The Tanker has more HP and a better taunt. Of course if someone spent 6 months farming Purples enhancement and was buffed to almost GODLIKE level they are going to be more effective than that same exact character that is only running with SOs.I've done LGTF and ITF, and brute is never a second choice that i'll only look into if tankers arent there. When the brute can solo the 3 firsts missions alone, i much prefer to have him and his damage then the overkill protection of a tanker. So it's totally not true that everyone prefer tankers over brutes.
As for the "without IO enhnacement and Accolades boosts" that's pretty irrevelant because there is brutes and tankers with them. Picking a non-IOed tanker over an IOed brute because that brute would be less tough without them..... that's like picking a lvl 3 fire blaster over a lvl 50 elec, because if it wasn't for the level, elec would do less damage. =P
There are two basic strategies I have seen used on the ITF... run headlong at Romulus, after clearing everything in fornt of him and just outdamge him. The other involves taunting the healing Nictus far enough away so it doesn't heal Rommi and beating him repeatedly until he devours all the Nictus to REZ. I have been on teams that made each strategy work fine and I never said a BRUTE couldn't taunt and be effective in that role... a TANK is just better at it and since he's taking a ton of damage while doing so the TANK wins out if available.
All I was doing was illustrating to the OP that despite his claim Scrappers and Tankers will NOT be replaced completely by Brutes once GR hits. Both have unique skill that will always be desirable to team leaders. -
Quote:I think either of those would be great. I also think, and I already know it won't happen, that some attention should be paid to the current TFs between Level 22-30. After doing Sister Psyche above level 20 all we see until we hit 30 level is Council, Council and Council.. Moonfire, Hess, and then Citadel! Okay I get the idea Council are considered a MAJOR Villain Group in COH and even in COV, although none of those TFs are available to Villain side, but 3 straight task forces involving the same group while they completely ignore Warriors, The Family, Tsoo, Banished Pantheon, and even COT? How about a TF in that level range involving a battle between the Family and Tsoo for control of Indepence Port? Or one involving Banished Pantheon and Circle of Thorn over control of some Demon?I want a Carnie Task Force more than anything in the City of Universe.
Second would be a Malta Task Force because the history and backstory of the Malta Group is just begging to have a Task Force.
I enjoy doing the Moonfire because it helps get me the required Vamprii and Warwloves I need for the Atlas Medallion. I DO the Citadel because it's required for Task Force Commander but I think I have done Hess all of once in more than a year and on a character I have dubbed my TF Queen since at level 42 she has done every TF available to her at that level including the ITF. But I'll be honest after doing Moonfire, Hess, and Citadel almost back to back to back .. I didn't even like seeing a radio mission involing council for a while. They created all these other Villain groups why didn't? Why Don't they use them instead of the same thing over and over again?
I'd love to see something between 30-50 involving Nemesis. Supposedly everything is a Nemesis plot right? But between 30-45 All we get is Crey (Manticore), Devouring Earth (Numina and the Eden Trial) and Freakshow (if you do the second Respec). Nemesis is all over the place at those levels.. Snipers in Founders Falls, teams of them in Crey's Folly and Eden and they roam the streets of Peregrine Island. Oh they show up breifly in the Numina but we really don't see much of them at all and Fake Nemesis are one of the requirements for the Freedom Phalanx Badge (which usual leads to anyone wanting it farming them in PI or the Shadow Shard).
When the game first started we had about 1 TF per level range supposedly to help you get there faster than running contact missions. If you didn't do it in THAT range (using Posi as an example of the old system 10-15) You exemplared down and got no XP. With the new system, wish I love by the way, I did Posi at level 36 and actually made amost 38 by the time we finished. So if we have more TFs than we need to level BIG eal.. its another way to get any character for 1-50 as long as they are above that minimum skill level for that TF. -
I know this has been brought up probably a thousand times before but this year's Winter Event, along with the daily LGTFs, ITF, and the joint missions also available at Valetine's bring to focus one glaring problem anytime Heroes and Villains team together. I'm in the cave trying to defeat Snaptooth and rescue Baby New Year and a MasterMind teammate is defeated. He's the ONLY vilain on the team and none of us has rez or has the option to give him an awake. So the entire mission grinds to a halt while we wait for him to go to the hospital and come back. ????
Okay I understand they don't want us being able to, Oh My Gosh, trade salvage, recipes, influence for Infamy, etc, ect. But Villain or Hero this guy is on my team and we are trying to defeat a common enemy.... Why can't I at least give him an awake if he'd down, OR if he's the one still up and battling close enough to me while I am face down on the floor give him some of my blues and green to keep him going and avoid a team wipe? Last I checked that's called TEAM WORK and part of what the whole game is based on to begin with.
By the way and for the record please note that both of the Hypothetical situations I just used above happened to me yesterday while working on my Winter Event badges in Pocket D. At one point an MM was down, I was on my Rad/Rad but had already used my Rez on another team mate earlier and because I was the only one on the team with REZ the guy had to hit the hospital. Different team later than day I was face down on the ice with one of my Blasters while a Stalker battled Redcaps and I couldn't feed him any blues or greens I had, which at that point were useless to me, to help him stay alive and keep fighting. If we are going to have CoOp zones how about making it possible for us to Cooperate! -
Quote:I'd just be happy to see more marketing done to other people.
I'm already a subscriber and have been for near to 5 years. Please sell this great game to people that have never heard of it. Which is a huge buttload of people.
Just do something besides an occasional website interview for heaven's sake!
BUT, BUT.. if they did something so vile and disgusting as that there would be a rash of Noobs running about asking rediculous questions like... My Contact told me to go see Dave Wincott.... where the heck is Dave Wincott at? I can't find him here in Kings Row anyplace.
Imagine the horror those X Month Vets that do nothing anymore but stand around in Atlas Park showing off their 50 level and planning the next Lag infested Costume Contest would feel over someone not knowing where Dave is.. and actually caring where he was to begin with. LOL Oh wait those guys LIKE to pick on Noobs anyway... okay let's try this radical new concept and advertise the game.
Sorry I found a Tier 3 Sarcasm Inspiration and had to try it out. HAHAHA -
I'm not sure on tihs one. I PUG a lot but like the option to actually call up the leaders name in Search and see excatly ho is inviting me to PUG. What AT, What level, what zone they are in? Last thing I need is everytime I click and show Looking for Missions I wind up on a team of people that don't know me at all or that on't even know each other. Usually on any PUG there are ay least a couple people that team together on a regular basis.
And what criteria do they use to form these "Auto Teams"? Some of the best PUGS I have ever been on where almost nothng but Controllers and Defenders. We had so many Beffs, DeBuffs, Heals, Holds, Immobs, and decent Damage that nothing, including an AV, stood a chance. I've been part of an all Controller KHTF that finished, with stealth of course, in less than 19 minutes. Did a Citadel TF with a team of 6 Blasters, one Tank and one very overworked Defender.. damage output was so high I swear at one point anout half way through I saw a Council Lieutenant try to wave a white flag but we shot it off before anyone could get a good look. LOL.
I'm also in the middle of a marathon of PUGS in Pocket D getting all the badges for my numerous (34) characters on Virtue. The new exemplar system is great but a 7 leve with a grand total of 5 attacks still only has FIVE attacks when you are facing a 50 level AV in Snaptooth. So what and who decides which Tanker I get on my Auto Team? I'n in PI doing AV missions do I really want a 9 level Tanker that WAS available but hasn't even had the opportunity to take TAUNT yet?
Sure there are BAD team leaders out there.. I was on one earlier in PocketD. Come on everyone in there is out for one of two things or both Badges/costume pieces and Candy Canes. XP is just a bonus and before this year the STANDARD was find a low level whatever and select their mission then go in with a handful of 50s and wipe the map. This guy had his difficulty set so we were facing level 53s .. even most of the minions were either Red or Purple. I was on with a 26 level Rad/Rad Defender and spent most of my time healing and rezzing the team because he had a 7 level, a 12 level and a 19 level, along with me and another character in the 20s . He was the ONLY 50 on the team and frankly the team just didn't have the damage output and accuracy to get the job done.
But I have also been with, a friended, GOOD leaders that carefully build their team with what is available and we tore through missions with ease.
A PUG is a PUG and while I am not against a Auto Feature I don't think I'd use as much as I would look for a good team to join and ROCK! Hey if its a bad team there is always the I QUIT button and go find another one! -
You're joking right? Please say you are joking. Brutes will never take the place of a "good" tanker ask anyone that has done the LGTF or ITF and a BRUTE is a secopndary choice is they can't find a Tank. Tanker just have a lot better taunt and with the best HP in game, without IO enhnacement and Accolades boosts, Tanks will always have a place in the game
As for Scrappers I am not one to hit the Arena and prove ANYTHING but I'd say a Scrapper could hold his own again most Brutes and I have and do play Brutes.
I have nothing against them but basically what they did was take one part scrapper and one part tank and put together something a LITTLE different when they designed them. Are they affective? Sure But will they ever replace either Scrappers or Tankers ... No way. I have a Scrapper, level 50 now, that soloed every AV in the Marie Arc to gain Portal Jockey... Does that sound wimpy to you? -
Quote:Very true however the SG wouldn't have that prestige and all the nice TOYS it bought without the members staying in SG mode and earning it. I have 50 levels that never left SG mode from level 2 through 50 and earned the group more than 600,000 in prestige. NOW you go to Atlas Park and check the exchange rate for BUYING prestige using influence. It's 1 Million in influence to purchase 2000 prestige over or 500 in influence for every 1 prestige.. so that's like saying I donated over 300 million in influence to my base. Is there anyway I personally can use that prestige? Well aside from using the telporters, med bay, and storage items provided inside NO but 600,000 prestige is enough to have built my OWN little base with all the toys so saying it was never mine to begin with and eluding that I have no right to say NO I don't want the base to move from say Freedom to Infinity I like it here is NOT a good idea.Prestige has never belonged to the players. It belongs to the SG.
There are small SGs now with basically 4-5 members with a LOT of Alts in the same SG. If those 4-5 players all agree to move an SG fine but as mentioned above there are SGs out there now that have been around a long time and have more than 100 members. Getting 100 people to agree to one new sever would be a nightmare and it doesn't seem very fair to say well 40 people agreed to Infinity, 25 to Virtue, and 20 want to stay here so we move to Infinity. What that means is 40 people got what they wanted or were talked into it and 45 (?) were slighted? Last time I checked 45 was higher than 40 so a MINORITY got to decide the base was moving to a new sever and to which one? And now 45 members that don't like the move at all either pay to transfer their characters or leave the SG and go look for a new one that HOPEFULLY won't decide to do the same thing. And to top it off whi knows how much of that bases prestige was a direct result of those 45 players playing the game in SG mode to help build the base to begin with.
No I can see this idea causing an uproar in game and on the forums and frankly it won't work. If a base Superleader decides he doesn't like the servers his SG is on he is free to buy a transfer and move to a new one but that base belongs to ALL it's members and they have the right to keep it right where it is. Let him go and start all over again if he wants but tranferring his base with him is not fair and I really don't see NC Soft ever agreeing to it. -
Quote:I have to agree with Aett while it sounds nice there is no way to accomodate more than 100,000 players with HOW many different characters? I just hit the 48 month mark and, not bragging just using myself as an example, I currently have nineteen 50 levels and 6 more characters in their 40s on Virtue. So the Devs are supposed to look up the profile all 19 of my hereos and create and placea statue for all of them? Now I know for certain there are 60+ month vets that put those totals I just gave to shame so we'd need to create practically a whole new zone devoid of buildings just row after row of statues and that probably still wouldn't be enough. The only problem with this is the following:
While it is easy enough to recognize one hero because of their accomplishments, how do you handle that across 100K+ heroes?
If you want a statue, who gets it? Which of the 100K+ heroes is going to have that new statue built after them, and where? Do we have enough space for all of those statues? Probably not. Even if we kept it to the last 10 heroes to have hit level 50, it would likely change fast enough that you'd never know that your character got a statue. Especially because this would need to be across all of the servers to make the zones match up, most likely.
If you want a throng of adoring fans, that's fine. But what happens when 8 of you exit the same mission, only to be met by the crowd? Do they all call out to one person? Each one a different person? Does each get it's own crowd? Would the chatter fill up your chat tabs so much that you couldn't see tells and team chatter? If everybody gets their own crowd, what about the lag that would probably create for people?
Things like that need to be addressed before something like this goes in, and I'm just not sure if I think that it is worth it or not.
I certainly understand your desire to feel more appreciated within the city. I really just don't know how to do it well enough, given the number of players we have.
The crowd suggestion? Let's eliminate the roaring crowd after simple ever day missions completely and just discuss Task Forces and Trials. At any given time on Virtue there almost always seems to be someone forming a TF someplace day in and day out. That's an awful lot of code to create and an tremendous amount of lag to deal with just for a momentary rush of appreciation. When I am on a TF I have as many as 7 team mates to offer congrats and a Good Job when the final mission is complete I don't need a huge crowd of NPC citizens greeting me at the exit to cheer me on. Think about this... We are costumed heroes and yeah we are sanctioned by the local government to operate but basically, like Batman, we are still vigilanties working just a little outside the law to get the job done the Police can't. I have a "secret identity and i most cases I on on an "undercover" mission from my contact to begin with. Do I want 40 civilains showing up when I complete the last mission to cheer for me? and if it's a secret how the heck did they know exctly where to be to cheer me one to begin with? TheDevs do what they can to give us a little appreciation. I have seen NPC text uncounted times quoting my character's name and referencing some mission I just completed. And that even includes radio and safeguard misions.
Mow if they really want me to feel more appreciated... How about coming up with a way for NPCs to walk polietly around me instead of shoving me all over the map while I am standing in PI trying to train. I don't need a pat of the back how about you just stop trying to run me over with your car?
Of course the Devs official stance would be that during any mission you gain inflence which they swear in not money but an increase in how the public view me as a hero. Uh HUH and when was the last time you bought a new pair of jeans by going to the store and telling the clerk "I want to take these home wth me and everyone loves me so it's okay" My other question on this "explanation" the Devs use is Okay I have 20 million in influence.. Boy people really like me and then I hit Wentworth and buy a few pieces of salvage I need and craft some recipes to make me stronger and suddenly I only have 5 million iin influence. HEY I didn't run over the Mayor's dog Fluffy with my car I invented some things. So why all of a sudden am I 75% less popular than I was half an hour ago? It's a Nemesis plot I swear! LOL
Early on in the game if you do any street fighting and say you save the lady in Atlas who is fighting with a Hellion for her purse they will come up and say something nice after you defeat the baddie and you get a small influence boost. That does continue all the way to level 50 if you take out some villains in PI that are harassing a citizen. That about as detailed as the Dev's can get without spending weeks or even month writing new code. The REAL recognition is from team mates and friends that offer a gratz when you level or earn a new badge and add you to their friend's list so they can look you up the next time they are searching for a team mate. An NPC is nothing more than a series of code doing what it's programed to do.. a team leader sending a tell thanking you for doing a great job Tanking or Healing/Buffing during a task force.. that's another human being and player, like yourself, ackowledging your accomplishment and your skills. I'll take that over a statue I have to spend a week trying to locate.. cause I am sure they aren't going to email every 50 level and say "Congratulations on level 50... your new Statue is lotaed in STEEL CANYON at just 150 yrds NE of Wentworths. Sorry it's next to an entrance to the sewer system but it was the only spot left to place one without putting them in the street."
Oh nd here's another question for you. *Takes a deeo breath and prays this doesn't start a flame war over FARMING again. Before they nerfed AE missions we had players bragginit from level 1-50 in hours doing nothing but mission after mission filled with Rikti Comm Officers and such. They never completed a single Task Force, Trial, ran a radio mission or a safeguard, or even left the AE building in Atlas. Heck during the 5 year celebration when every Giant Monster and all of the Signature Villains from COV were attacking they were in broadcast complaining that "OUR" chatter while defeating Lord Recluse, Black Scorpion, Ghost Widow and ever GM from Kraken to the Kronos Titan was making it hard for them to find team mate to FARM! A once in life time chance to get a ton of badges and XP/INF and it was an annoyance to them. THOSE 50 levels deserve the same statue I get for earning the Task Force Commander Accolade? (including the dreaded Positron TF). I've battled and helped defeat the Hamidon in the Hive, Raided the Mothership in the RWZ, taken out Romulus in Cimerora, and defeated what used to be Hero one on the Lady Grey TF. I helped defeat all of Recluses Lieutenants and then took down the Arachnos leader himself on the Stateman TF but a guy or girl that sat in Atlas pounding on one Rikti Comm Officer after another gets a statue JUST like I do? Okay rant done I have nothing against Farmers I have said it before there are hundresm maybe thiusands of ways to get from level 1-50 and none of them is THE one way. Just illustrating a point.. what criteria do the Devs use to decide who gets a statue since there is no way they can possibly erect say 300,000 (and that's probably very conservative) so that every 50 that ever player has gets a statue someplace in game. Looking at it another way lets say they decide a 50 level MUST have all of the following badges to qualify! (HUGE list of TF, Trials, GMs, etc follows) and the very next thing you see on the forums is some poor guy saying" Hey I only get to play a few hours a week and its at times when most are in bed. I soloed my way to 50 with my Scrapper and don't have any of those badges but it took me six months of hard work to get there why am I being excluded?" and guess what? He's got a point! It doesn't matter if you soloed from level 1-50, farmed from 1-50, or ran every type of TF, Trial, and door mission imaginable to get there.. You defeated enough villains and earned enough XP to get there.. so they all deserve the exact same amount of respect.
Now I don't think this is a viable way to give a pat on the back for say completing a radio or safeguard but how about at the end of a task Force or trial they have a short film clip of your contact, Positron, Sister Pysche, Manticore, ect.. come on and give you a short "Thanks for a job well done" speach. HEY I have done numerous Positron and if anyone needs to thank me for lending them a hand after what he puts level 10-15s through it's HIM! LOL I have done one Doc Q TF in the Shard that guy needs to set up my kids with free medical for the rest of their lives after that marathon!
Want another? Okay we have numerous ways of unlocking special weapons or costume pieces in game how about this... A player complets a Task Force, Trial, takes out a GM, or completes a instance badge mission they earn a small costume piece that allows them to wear that BADGE on thier uniform in the same was that the military awards decorations to its soldiers. And here's a novel idea since we are talking a LOT of individual badges how about those are FREE at any tailor or better still FREE at from the City Rep in Atlas Park! We just saved the city from the likes of the Clockwork King, Babbage, and a host of other bad guys so you'd think the Mayor would at least be willing to srping for the cost of the medal he just gave us! Okay that would mean MORE code so the City Rep was another sort of tailor let's just keep it there at Icon but you get the idea.
How about a few more accolades that grant powers. I succesfully stopped X number of bank robberies defeating 25 or more signature villains, saved more than 20 Police Officers, stopped 10 robberies, broken up 10 arms deals, prevented 5 arson fires, and stopped 10 sets of villains from blowing up portions of 9 different neighborhoods in the city. and I get 2 worthless accolades that that grant me no added power to continue battling evil? Okay one of thoseis for touching an exploration badge in all 9 zones but the other required me to take down some bad guys and save the lives and property of the citizens of Paragon City.. can I at least get a buff/debuff/attack/defeanse/ or something for all thise good deeds? How about a NEW accolade with a power of some sort? I defeated Kraken, Babbage, Lusca, Adamastor, Jurrasic, Eochia, Jack in Irons, and the Kronos Titan (Let's not include Sally in this anything I can defeat with one hit using brawl with NO enhancements is not a REAL GM LOL) but I battles and defeated the big 8 GMs all over Paragon City.. give me an accolade. let's call it GIANT BUSTER for lack of a better idea right now, and include some sort of special use power I can add to help me later on down the road.
There are plenty of ways to get pat on the back without assigning a crowd of NPC to show up and physically PAT my back after a job well done.. so lets try creating them. A heck of a lot easier to code and research than building what is probably closer to half a million or maybe even a million statues to every 50 in game. -
I do like this idea and think it's doable. Not sure exactly how the Devs would change it and make it work but it sounds like t would be fun and create another tool I can use to enhance my game. Can't say I totally agree with your assessment of the 32+ area though. True I am waiting longer for that next power but I am also getting 3 enhancements per level between I can use to make the powers I do have shine. That's when those damage powers get a second accuacy if I need it or a Attack Rate reducer to bring them back faster. Buffs and Debuffs get stronger and more effective and so on.
I can still recall an old SG mate from my first year in game making a comment that he used to look forward to the even levels because it meant a new power. But he'd changed his view and now liked the odd ones (below 32 of course) better because that was when he could turn that new power into something special. MOre I thought about it he was right.. when you get a new power you have one slot for damage, buff, whatever so it's only so effective until you get to the next level and can start adding slots to it to make it awesome.
Oh by the way I vote against making the signature power similar to accolade ones. A power I can only use once every 30 minutes really isn't all that effective and on most characters I don't even try hard for things like the Crey Pistol. A freeze gun I can use once every 30 minutes and isn't even very efective o anything higher than a lieutenant? Immm I can pound a minion to dust in no time if it doesn't do a thing to a boss, Elite Boss or an AV why did I even bother hunting down the badges I needed to earn it? Want to give it a long recharge time like 2 minutes or something fine.. But I have enough almost useless powers now between Vet rewards I can't enhance so they are inaccurate at best and deal only so much damage while sucking down my end. Give us something we can enjoy using and use often.. for a change.
Like the idea though and hope someone is listening and makes it a reality.
