Pocket D as Central Hub for everything
absolutely not. that is all.
No thanks, I'd rather the bidders, marketeers and everyone else not lag up my social RP zone.

Pocket D never seems to get used outside of the Christmas and valentines events. why not make it more useful??? and if not by doing this then actually make it somewhere to hang out. because if by hang out you mean stand around chatting, you can do that whilst fighting enemies, so it's kinda a waste of time and money to just stand around doing nothing in Pocket D IMO...
All other servers are wasting Pocket D as a social spot and RP place by not having it full of people every day like on Virtue.
I could still go along with your idea though since I'm not too bothered by people actually (*gasp*) playing the game when I stand around looking at roleplayers. But I understand where those who wouldn't want the place cramped up by griefers even more than it is now are coming from.

The pvp zones should all link to Pocket D and you should be able to port back to any pvp zone from Pocket D
I could always be a really strong server area, that you could fit 100 people in with no conection probs. or have different semi instances that link off of the main area.

GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Besides, I'd much *MUCH* rather they hang out and talk in Pocket D than do it during an actual mission. I *HATE* it when a couple of people on my team slow everyone else down (and sometimes get them killed) by stopping to RP chat while everyone else is fighting. As far as I'm concerned, God Bless Pocket D and the RP'ers it rode in on.
Feel free to try out my AE mission arc, # 473452: Praetorian Redemption

It gets plenty of use on my home server, Virtue. So much so that it's actually a little laggy.

I know on my home server, it is always dead until Christmas or Valentine's rolls around and people come in.
... Because, of course, EVERY nightclub has terminals devoted to ebay, a workshop (woodworking, metalworking, painting,) brokers and the like...
No, thanks. Leave Pocket D as is. It fits its role perfetly.

Salvage storage, markets, mission architect, crafting tables, merit vendors, base portals, and tailors(not talking about the tailor that can change a male character to a female character vis versa in the VIP room, just the one that changes the outfit).
For the people with the belief everything should be spread out so players have to travel to several locations to achieve a simple task rather than playing the game. If people are playing the game they'll still have travel to get there. And it'll probally be for a couple of things at a time. For the people who believe this will make architect farming more efficient. Maybe you should be happy they would be in a rarely used zone instead of in ur zon lagin ur conectshun! As for the reason suggesting this? I don't know, Pocket D has alway seem like a place to go to get things done and(And if the music was actually the music instead of a background sound; to mute just that)a place to hang out. They already have salvage storage, CoOp arena terminals, tailor(VIP room), and a base portal. I'd just thought that they might as well go all the way and make it a centralized location for getting things done. |
So, no.

I'm afraid I have to agree with those saying NO to the idea. While, in theory, that sounds like an interesting idea and would allow heroes and villains a safe place to shop, sell, ect without the worry of being attacked it has definte disadvantages IF it was to become the ONLY place in game to do these things.
1. Not everyone has a VIP pass to the Tiki club and those that don't would now need to purchase one to get to a tailor. True the Tailor could be moved to a spot in the public area but this would also mean that everyone from a 1 level with Halloween salvage to a 50 level that just wants a new look would all be headed to ONE spot for their costume needs. And if you are suggesting this occur for Hero and Villains we'd be talking everyone now playing either COH or COV. Way too many potential clients for ONE tailor or even one full sized Tailor shop to accomodate.
2. Not everyone belongs to an SG. So a 50 level on Peregrine decided to get a new look or design a new outfit and now they need to Ferry to a zone with a door to Pocket D just to get to any of the many stores, etc you want to place in ONLY Pocket D. That doesn't cut travel times it increases them since on 4 zones hero side have a door to the D and only 3 on the Villains. Only other option would be to add a doorway to Pocket D in every zone on both COH and COV.
3. As you mentioned it is already a CoOp zone with missions available at Christmas and during Valentine's Day. Lag during these periods can get bad enough for people that meet the minimum requirements but don't possess the fund to have the "fastest" PC and one set up for gaming. Putting every enhancement store, Tailor shop, and Wentworths in that one spot would increase the lag daily let alone during those events.
4. Tailor Missions... Currently each tailor shop requires a hero or villain to run missions against a "Level Specific" enemy in order to earn their 20, 30 and 40 level costume. So unless you plan to have 3 Tailor shops in Pocket D, along with door ways to the zones where those enemies can be found, you know force the Devs to recode so that the Tailor hands out level appropriate missions to each hero that comes looking to earm those costumes.
What you are suggesting would require a tremendous amount fo coding along with expanding the size of Pocket D to actually make it work and I simply see no reason to do so. The system inplace now has worked for more than 5 years and in many case, while there is a bit of travel involved, most of it in in the same zone that players for that level are already in. What you suggest is doing away with ALL that and forcing every player to come to one VERY laggying spot to conduct those same details.

Those women are prostitutes? You said they were raising money for stem cell research! Sheldon
The only thing I'd like to see added to Pocket D is access to the MA system. In a room off to one side, like the Arena terminals. So we can have mixed team Arc fun.
Because having one in RWZ is just silly.
However, it turned out that Smith was not a time-travelling Terminator

If it ain't broke set it on fire, then say it was a fault in the design.
