Retailers have been warned recently that in-store gift cards (ones branded specifically for the store, not the actual V/MC/Amex style ones) will not be usable for any online time card purchases due to (insert cryptic reason [no pun intended]) and said time card will not correctly activate.
The only thing you could do in this case would be to use your in-store gift card to purchase one of those V/MC/Amex style gift cards and then turn around and use it to purchase the time card. Keep in mind that there are normally $4-$10 activation fees to cover what used to be administration fees (back when the fees were simply taken out of the card if it wasn't used, etc within a year). -
From the initial sounds of it I would point to the power supply overheating if just simply "shut off without warning". If it were the GPU overheating, then I'd expect a bluescreen crash.

Setting up a game to load without opening the launcher each time:
1) Open Launcher;
2) Right Click the game you wish to play;
3) Click "Create Desktop Shortcut";
Now the game will load as before the launcher was introduced, but I'm not sure about game updates. Most likely it'll tell you that it needs to download the patch when there is a new one. -
The "short-short-version" is to simply ignore the message unless you have an actual graphics issue.

Oh God yes, that's tough nomatter what toon you have. Well, maybe if you've downed the dif and are +2 w/ lots of incarnate powers or something, btu still.

Quote:Not that I'm the guru on ingame stuff, but from my understanding of the mechanics (and some general testing) of the costume editor everything that you change in the character file when loaded onto a character shows up exactly how edited..costume files are just a saved-to-disk text file that lists what your character is wearing from the bajillion parts in the character creator. It has absolutely no bearing on what is seen in the game.
Note: the character creator will only accept the file if: a) your account has the pieces listed in the file Unlocked; b) the pieces are all of the same gender; c) the pieces match existing costume choices for the version of game you are playing (IE: Beta pieces may not be available in Live).
I've yet to hear of any True costume modding, but such mods would likely only show on your end and require being loaded from the same sub-folder that the custom maps are read from. -
Quote:What Tex said, but take a peek at my links for some help too.Hmmm not sure what im doing wrong since when i cancel the ncsoft client deletes the folder
EDIT: Ok i copied everything again into the folder. Ran the ncsoft client as admin did repair and it still wants do redownload everything. Tried deleting the checksum and repairing again. Still have to redownload everything. -
I haven't been on in a day, but I did remember seeing their FB post. It'd be nice if they'd update here before anywhere else ya think?

This as the odds of somebody creating a toon at the same moment with the same name are rather off the wall. Just make sure to reserve the name at the beginning of your character creation!

Quote:This'll likely result in the best coverage just in case, but pestering an apology definitely won't help your case. Never know, they may have been having a bad day, see this, and take you off the list with an apology of their own in email format.Yeah, I've been told "please take so-and-so off your ignore list." It happens sometimes that someone gets a little under our skin, and we need a break. If you're nice and not consistently mean, then it'll work itself out. No worries.
You could also just apologize to "so-and-so" on X server here too, they might see it, and might some other folks from that server, who might be willing to help you out. -

Not installing in the Default location seems to eliminate most game issues that are software/install related. Beyond that, the OS has a bigger memory footprint so lots of ram is helpful.

Any recent connection changes, firewall reset, etc? hidden bugs you're not aware of even...

Quote:That all said, a work around (except for parts that don't have cross-gender matches) to make a matching set costume for male/female/huge is to change the gender name within the files. I've done that before when I made something in one gender, but realized it'd look cooler in another. Trying to do this in the character creator (even With the super editor function) tends to result in a blank slate.As Aggelakis said there has never been a way to edit a .costume file to get it load a costume item option that the game itself can't support.
But as an historical FYI when the .costume files first came out people quickly started to figure out how to edit them to get different things. For instance people did figure out that you could tinker with the RGB values and get the game to display costume item colors that were not possible with the standard costume editor.
But within a few weeks the Devs patched the game up with file checking so that it became fairly impossible for any "edited" .costume file to be loaded back into the game. I understand why they did that because they didn't want anybody to do anything that might have broken the game somehow. But it's sad because it shows that the game could actually support colors of any RBG value, not just the few dozen or so the GUI editor limits us to. -
Quote:Heh, so I'm not the only one with molasses racing my pings?The last time I had to fully dl and patch coh when I came back for freedom it was something like a 50+ hour download, no joke, but that's mostly because of the unfortunate circumstance of where I live.
But yeah basically as Lothic said, the staged download let's you start playing sooner, instead of having to wait for the entire thing to finish. -
While I haven't heard about a cooldown period I have heard about a bug where somebody tries to use two in a row (for whatever reason) and the second one burns with no effect.

I know it was mentioned before, but hit up a global channel or send a request in broadcast and someone's bound to come help. Holds work wonders on him when stacked!

This brings back memories of the early discussions of the impending increase cap from 40 --> 50. I forget the details of what had happened back then for this to occur, but from a logistical standpoint this would probably be a nightmare if it ever happened again (especially a 40% increase like that).

Search is your friend, but in event of search-fail there are links. Mine are in my sig, but of course there are others.

Unless they're some sort of paired DIMMs I'd try yanking the second one (I'm assuming it's two sticks) to drop you down to 4Gb and see what that does. You have an 'interesting' mix of internet/AV protection going on there too, but I've never used those programs so I'm not sure how well they play with others.
If you haven't done it in a while, then I'd look into defraging the HDD as well just in case. Even if the files checkout there's a chance that they're still borked 'cause of that. -
See my links as they've helped some I've been told. ^.^
