Game crashes when loading

Hi I've just returned to try out Freedom with a fresh install. Upon loading the game I get the splash screen but nothing else, I can see the CoH mouse cursor but then after about 15 seconds it changes to the Windows loading cursor. It will just sit there unless I go to the Task Manager and end it. So I tried starting in safe mode and could log into my character (for the time in hundreds of days :*P), I changed the resolution successfully but upon trying to change any other settings the game freezes just like the splash screen freeze. After some digging I found a post about tablet drivers affecting the game so I uninstalled my Wacom drivers and rebooted, upon starting without safe mode I could hear the login screen music but it crashed after about 10 seconds. Reinstalling drivers didn't affect anything either. Now I'm not sure what else to do and I'd like to get back into playing so any help would be nice.

I managed to get to the login screen while not in safe mode, but now whenever I try to enter a character (even in safe mode) the game crashes on the loading screen. I'm still looking for help and about to reinstall again.

Edit: I upgraded to some beta Nvidia drivers and can now run the game out of safe mode. I can change the screen resolution and things like texture and shader level, but as soon as I try to change any of the shadow, reflection, or anti-aliasing settings my game freezes.

Edit 2: I downgraded to earlier drivers (280) and can now load the game out of safe mode. I changed all my texture/resolution settings but still can't change settings like above. Opening windows also causes the game to crash such as the contact, costume, personal info window etc.

I've tried multiple graphics drivers with no change, I found a thing on the NCSoft support page talking about freezing when opening the contacts window. My game freezes when opening the contacts or any other window but the article says to downgrade to drivers in the 190 series which isn't possible for me, so I'm completely lost.

I'm going to say this:

Run MSConfig (should just be start orb, type in msconfig, hit [Enter])

Go to the Startup and Services tabs and turn off all the extraneous *crud* that you've got running. Too much to try to figure it out. There's a switch in the Services tabs to hide Microsoft services, click that, then turn off everything else. Turn off all startups. Get it simple so that it's as much as possible just the OS and the Game.

Then start adding things back in slowly.

It sounds more like bad memory, bad hard drive, bad video card, bad drivers and/or bad motherboard... a little to 'not specific' enough to really nail down, which is why the KISS in turning off the extraneous softwares is the next step.

Well... perhaps I was premature about that whole 'signing off' thing... - 11-9-2012

I think I got it to work, sadly I didn't change things one at a time to troubleshoot so I'm not exactly sure which one I did to fix it. But I closed multiple background processes, explicitly added the game to my anti-virus (I doubt it was this one), and set it to compatibility mode (Windows XP SP2, I think this is what solved it). But I was able to log in and open windows, I've never opened so many windows out of joy. And now I'm running everything maxed out with 32x anti-aliasing at ~40+ fps
