I remember my 1st toon. I took hover at lvl 6 and thought I could fly all over. Damn it took me forever to get places lol

I remember the amazement at everything I saw back then. I miss the days of being a newb

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I'll never forget how cool it was getting Fly for the first time. It was the most excited I'd ever been over a power in a video game.

    [/ QUOTE ]

my first toon i got to 14 i got FLY and proceeded to zoom around the ATLAS statue broadcasting (i was a newb cut me some slack ) I CAN FLY!!!! I CAN FLY!!!!

some vet, obviously slightly annoyed with my exuberance told me he would give me 100,000inf if i would shut up so i did. but now i could fly AND i was RICH!!!! (told you i was a newb at the time )
  2. although nothing has been confirmed for Character Creator 2.0 in the expansion/i16 (which ever it comes out in) i would bet money that backpacks/jetpacks and other accessories have been added, this is a common request since the inception of thegame, and well within the ranks of "doable but takes more reasources then we can spare" that power customization fell under.

mark my words, when you get the shiney new CC v2.0 you WILL have backpacks/jetpacks/quivers etc.....
  3. it is a "seperate piece" as far as the servers consider the zone. it's almost like a shared instance. you enter like it was it's own zone, then run instances from there. this allows the devs to place different rules on the AE that won't apply to the rest of whatever zone you are in.

I dunno if this happens to anyone else, i doubt its age because even as a child movement would put me to sleep or have other affects. To this day if I'm overly tired in a car, I'll fall asleep. However, I digress, on to the real comment:

Anytime in games I fall or descend from a high point and can see the ground or anything below me looming closer and closer anticipating an impact, I get the roller coaster stomach pit feeling.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    hello my brother in vertigo
i always leave the AE building via jumping off the top balcony, and my stomach drops every time........ don't like the heights but apparently, i'm a glutten for punishment.

I heard the new powerset in I16 is the Go-Go Gadget Set. I'm not sure exactly the specs, but I've heard it's far reaching.

    Just Saying Hi !

welcome to the game, i should be on Pinnacle later tonight, so if you are on in the late night est, i can help with anything you need. global is @israck. and although Pinnacle is my, ummmmm, 6th server i've found it's agreat community (they all are actually, just a matter of what personality type you are looking for).

of course at this point, you won't have any time to play whilst looking up helpful folks from the forums

Odd thing about that. I've reupped my accounts, and was looking at my villians and heroes....
...and came to the startling realization that they are mirrors. Nearly every one came out to a 1-1 concept match, with only a few offs in the set.

    Hello there

    [ QUOTE ]
Welcome to the colonies Old boy!

The natives are pretty friendly over here so you can expect a warm welcome. I've been here for over 4 years now and can happily attest to the fun people and times that I regularly encounter.

    All that from a Brit!

    FeeFye

    [/ QUOTE ]

Holy Moly!!!! someone spiked this poor chaps tea!!! he is nowhere near snarky enough to be a brit.

kidding, kidding, we love you "over the ponders"
  11. not to start an argument with awesome up there, but i WOULD recommend /EM, here's why. the problem with the /EM changes was it slowed down the attacks that used to be super duper fast, thereby reducing the DPS in the short term. but if you pair it with WP/, and build for recharge, you can have an endless stream of good ST damage attacks and never move your blue bar. i've found in the later game it becomes quite powerful, but it is kinda sub par for the first hal of your career.

i will second the /SM though, for the same reasons as above, endless endurance to fully utilize Stone melee's awesome attacks despite it's prohibitive end costs. also, most of the attacks recharge pretty quickly out of the box, so a little recharge makes you a smashtastic monster.
  12. [ QUOTE ]
whenever I try to do TFs allI get are "sorry doing AE".... then when I can't get like lets say a brute on the team... people get pissed off and leave the TF/SF and we can't do it, just becuase people don't wana get off their butts and do something other than AE...

    [/ QUOTE ]

stop trying to tell other people how to play!! sorry YOU can't find a team, but it doesn't mean that the game is dooooomed, it means you aren't happy, and honestly, i'm so sick of these threads that i hope it makes you leave.
  13. [ QUOTE ]
When I joined the game, we had to walk all over the city to get our levels, uphill! both ways!, and dammit, we *liked* it! Not like these kids today who can level up in just one building in one zone! Kids just want things handed to them rather than put in an honest day's grinding like we did. I don't know what this world is coming to, but I can tell ya this, ole Jack never woulda put up with it, yessireebob.

    Now get off my lawn!

    [/ QUOTE ]

dammit, scooped, i completely didn't see this one before i posted my translation......

guess i can always fall back on "great minds think alike"
  14. [ QUOTE ]
As I approach my 60 month vetran reward I have begun to review my opinion of the game today compared to the previous 5 years.

My overall opinion is that the game has lost alot of the lustre and promise of the early days.

In the early days CoH was a game about creating a unique Hero and going out and thrashing the bad guys. And CoV when it was released was similar on the villian side of the equation.

The Nerf bat was weilded in more sense or perhaps with more explanation.

New issues introduced new content, new adversaries, new abilities.

All these things somehow managed to come together and create a more interesting, challenging, and improved gaming experience.

Yet now I am left cold with the release of AE and the preceeding issue, and the resulting effect on gameplay as a whole. Instead of promoting and expanding the existing gameplay issues have destroyed the continuity that once existed.

As an old Vetran I have run alot of the content out there, have learned through that content how to play the different ATs, and in general enjoyed exploring over and over the many different nuances of the zones, TFs, and challenges that different builds face in CoX.

Now, with AE in place, I find that much of the preceeding content is being skipped by "new" players and they are more and more ignoring the aspects of the game which made it unique and interesting. Instead of AE bringing a whole new level of interesting content to the playerbase, it's implementation has brought "instant leveling gratification". A new player can in very short order skip all the content of the last 6 years to achieve what goal? To become a level 50 and not know how to play it? To constantly have to ask basic questions that the typical 12mos vet knows because they actually ran content?

I shake my head every time I enter Atlas and Cap zones, so many "players" but so few Heroes and Villians. The content of the game now is just so much window dressing and wallpaper, nice to see it hangs around, but in function having no pressing effect.

What is the sense of having so many zones if there is no pressing reason to go into them?

I can recall the first time I got into Founders Falls, having SK'd my 12 Controller to a 38 Tank and joining them on one of their missions. The new zone, the different mission content, it was all exciting and had purpose and meaning.

But now AE has made such things meaningless. You simply enter the building, click, and viola you're teleported inside one of thousands of missions which weren't created as real arcs, but as power leveling methods.

Just like PvP, AE implementation was thoughtless in it's outcome. Instead of becoming shining stars of achievement in a great game, they are flawed models whose implementation does not build on the rest of the content. PvP isn't universal in access to success and AE is universal in it's access to excess.

Like the debauchery that brought Rome to it's knees, it appears that CoX has run the same course. Whoever the current Ceaser and Senators of the game are, they have lost the path and created a Colliseum to entertain the masses while the rest of the Empire collapses in disuse. Sit and watch the games, watch the slaughter of the Christians, the sea battles, etc. Don't worry about the rest of the Empire.

You young wippersnappers...GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
in MY day we had to walk uphill 5 miles to school, and 10 miles uphill to get back home!!!!!
WHY WON'T people play the way I want them to??????

i've had great fun playing the "good" user created content in AE, and i still enjoy the game and all the pre existing stuff i haven't done yet. it's hard to believe so many people can't get past their own self absorbed lives and realise that the rest of the player base is NOT here to play a "support role" in YOUR game. I'm sorry you haven't gotten what i've gotten from the new features, i'm sorry that you are too selfish to realize that others ARE enjoying it, and i'm sorry that i ever read someone actually equate the fall of rome to a video game. go cry another river you sad, emo $%&*
  15. wow, can't follow rules and submit just one

    so here's my favorite three;
    The Instigater, a corr nrg/kin
    InertialSpike, a def kin/rad
    Kid Crucible, a scrapper fire/fire

but my little brother has 3 or 4 toons on my account for when he comes over. my favorite of his is a SD/WM tank named HimMakeUGoSquish, i love hopping on this toon and running around AP "squishing" stuff

I think this round it will be color customization, however with color customization down, that means they've figured out some of the hard parts about power customization (from what I remember about BAB's FAQ from a while back) and they should be able to put in the other stuff in there a lot more easily down the road.

    [/ QUOTE ]

there's nothing hard about color customization, BABs has said it multiple times, it's just time consuming.

    [/ QUOTE ]

thank you!! it was never a "hard" change, it was a time consuming tedious change, once they quadrupled the dev staff it would almost be expected to do this as quick as possible. not that the change isn't welcomed, i'm all excited and geeked out right now, but it still is the most logical major change done to the game once the dev staff was increased.

now to make it more complicated, we can wait and see if they added and level of animation customization, even a short list of animations with the same cast time for each power. that would be a "difficult" task.

  18. ok, so i was busy house hunting all weekend, and apparently missed something, what was confirmed when? and what pictures?
  19. has there been any word on when they hit live?

seems an awfully long beta time for such a small issue is all.
  20. my deepest sympathies, i've buried way to many loved ones in my short life, and know way to well what you are going thru.

i came the same conclusion as alot of folks on this thread though, just a couple of months ago. put myself on the DASH diet, it's the AMA/AHA (american heart assoc.) diet, it's for lowering BP, Blood Sugar, and Cholesterol. basically just eat alot of whole grains/fiber, calcium, vit. D, and omega 3's, i've found if you don't even change how much you eat, just make sure you are getting alot of the above in each meal, that it works quite well (18 lbs in a month i fit in my 36's again, doubled my available wardrobe) and all my levels are down to decent levels (weren't horrible to begin with, but high enough to be worried). really not hard to do actually, was alot easier to stick with it then i thought. i'm not recommending my plan to anyone else, just that you get A plan, would like to see the players here stick around for awhile and whatnot

i've also added a rule that i MUST do 30-45 minutes of cardio before i get on the game on saturday mornings (my main play time), but as of right now i have been less then stellar with following thru......... but you keep working at it.

    Grav/Kin...

    [ QUOTE ]
Why does everyone think siphon power has no use when FS becomes available?

FS hits those in melee range of the target. Siphon power hits everyone around you even if you're not in melee range.

2 different powers.....which work very well together when used correctly.

    [/ QUOTE ]

i agree 100%, i have it on all my kins, and never respec out of it, but arguing the point is kinda pointless. i feel it's better to convince people to take it early, and by the time they have FS, they can make up their own minds. i find most keep it, unless it's a very tight build. i think it will prove itself by the time the OP has the option to drop it.
  22. DAMMIT MAN!!! i keep trying to tank with my 'Troller and i get deaded all the time!!!! stupid imob is useless, trollers are broked

so what is your problem with just about every defensive/resistance set having a weakness? isyour uber feeling hampered by having someone actually touch you?

i played strictly resistance sets for the first year or so i was playing, when i tried my first /SR i was floored by how powerful they were, heck i even have a /EA that kicks butt, defense is great in this game...... but the game is not to designed to make you feel better about yourself, it's just a game, if you can't control your nerdrage i would suggest finding another hobby.

edit: hit reply on silencer7's post, but post was directed at OP.

    Grav/Kin...

i'm gonna say after three grav trollers that Propel is awesome, you ARE a troller, you can spare the activation time, trust me. Wassabi seems to have a serious mad on for Propel, but i will have to say try it first and see if you like it.

repel, is skippable, unless you like it for concept or fun, i love it, but most people don't see the use, i think it helps mitigation greatly. and i'll agree that syphon power should be picked up early on and respeced out of later, and syphon speed is not skippable at all, get it, slot slows and recharge (or get a nice slow io set and reap the bonuses).

grav/kin is great fun, works thematically (important to me), and turns out to be a reall good troller. have fun.
  24. [ QUOTE ]
It will boost the recharge rate by 70%.

Since the recharge rate is 0.0s and since hasten reduces recharge time by 70%, the total recharge time will be down to 0.0s.

    [/ QUOTE ]

    ABSOLUTELY WRONG!!11!!eleventyone!!
your math is off, you would be at -0.70 recharge time
i don't know how that works in our linear time game, but it's gotta be some benefit
