Maybe the passives were left with a single slot? I used to leave them like that till I did the math to see the difference 2-3 slotting the passives did to the DDR.

    Debuff resistance:
    Toggles: 13.84% x 3 = 41.52%
    Passive: 6.92% x 3 = 20.76%

    EDIT:
Assuming Toggles as 55% slotting and passives at 20%: 89.27%
    Everything up to 55%: 96.53%

Oh, and I'm not going to hit stuff with my sword. I want to hit them with my hands that are on fire! I don't want to be locked into sword melee just because I have the sword to defend myself. That wouldn't make any sense.

Waitasecond.... Broadsword melee actually has parry in it, a power that adds to your defense... imagine that.

And if I'm not mistaken, shield defense actually has an attack in it...
I would so make a Shield Melee / Broadsword defense scrapper.

Additionally an advantage of Decimations and Entropic Chaos sets is that they give 6.25% global recharge bonus.
I already used up my 5 6.25% in the control powers, so slotting Decimations and Entropic Chaos does nothing. However, if I hit 50 and choose to slot purples, I will most likely go for the sleep / confuse since they are cheaper, giving me room for those later down the road.
  4. I have a Mind/Energy on my own. Far from perma, but with a solid 63ish recharge.

    So far:
5 x 6.25 (Two Confusion, Two Sleeps, Fear)
    3 X 7.5 (Two holds, Power Bolt)
    2 x 5 (Bonesmasher, Res Armor)

Currently level 43, and 3 other blasts are slotted with Thunderstrikes, which come in handy for extra accuracy for the AoE controls. I guess I could pick up an extra 15% recharge in the blasts, but concerned how that would hurt my DPS.

Outside of purples, KB on blasts, and LoTG, and burning way too many slots on defense powers, all of which I'm unsure I want to do. Anything else I could slot for more recharge?

All I'm thinking of is Lift, Sniper, and the Patron Pet.
  5. One thing to keep in mind is that with medium to high levels of recharge you can alternate Total Domination and Mass Confusion to keep everything locked down from a third to half the time. I've been finding myself using Terrify less and less since I slotted some recharge.
  6. Sleestack has come unstuck in threads... He has seen his registration and ban many times, he says, and pays random visits to all the posts in between.
  7. Would have been cool if you could save the double, and you commit the ultimate sacrifice. Your double's last words being "I will protect your world." And from that moment on you play your double. Same enhancement, level, everything. And besides you and the contact, people around you will never know.

No technical difference whatsoever, but chilling from a storyline perspective.

  10. An empath heals the damage that hurt you.
A Force Fields heals the damage before it hurts you.
A Kinetics heals the damage before it leaves the hurter.
  11. ...would you go for them instead of +defense bonuses?

It seems that every build I make, in order to increase survivability, the question always is Positional or Typed defense?

Defense bonuses are stupidly easy to come by and stack, whereas resistance bonuses are not only tiny to the order of worthless, but are so over the place getting a decent amount all around just does not feel doable, nor worth the effort.

    For example:
3 slotted Cleaving Blow increases Energy and Negative Energy Defense by 1.25%. Three slotted Scirocco's Dervish increases Negative Energy Resistance by 3.13%. Following the loose rule that 2 res = 1 def, changing Scirocco to provide 2.5% resistance to energy and negative energy would be a start.

Likewise, place more +res bonuses around. There's plenty of room in those very low mezz protection bonuses (which also need a look at) and the debt prevention bonuses. Make them a viable option.

Assuming they made some modifications and paired the resistance bonuses on S/L, E/N, F/C, and bumped the values a bit, and made them more accessible, do you have some alts that would go after them?

If getting 30% resistance to Smashing/Lethal was as easy as it is to get 15% defense to Smashing/Lethal, would you be interested on some alts?

Or would defense prevail no matter what?

NOTE: I'm aware defense has the advantage of avoiding side effects. But there's also defense debuffs, which might make resistance attractive.
  12. Fiery Aura reply:

    1. As a loyal fan of Fierey Aura (damn you concept!!) I'd LOVE if the current suggestion of upfronting a good chunk of Burn's damage came to be. If Shields can get a PBAoE attack, letting Fiery Aura have one as well would be nice. As others have posted, prior to Shields, I accepted Fiery Aura's weak defenses as the price for damage, but it feels Shields get to have more damage and more defenses. So if we can make Fire more fragile at the expense of bigger damage output again, I'd be happy.

    2. Any chance we can make Fiery Embrace be +dmg to all for the full 20 second duration? The unfairness of this one power still makes me consider not pairing the armor with the melee. (I still do, damn you concept!!)

    3. How about renaming Temperature Protection to Burning Soul? Let it keep its current attibutes, and give it a Quickness-like +20% passive recharge. If Fiery Aura is to be good at damaging, and Shields do it by +dmg, making Fire do it by speeding the user's metabilism would be a nice perk to set it apart. (Yes, I know I'm dreaming here)

    As for Shields:

    Welcome back. Storm still sucks.
  14. Isnt the Build Up proc in Gaussian Unique?
  15. What if you are 25 and over? Oro the 20-24 one and unlock the next part?
  16. I'd reccomend looking at it from a different angle. Yes, Build Up and Aim are 'only' ten seconds long. But the base recharge is 90 seconds. With 3 Recharge IOs, its up 10 seconds out of every 45 seconds, that's 22% of your time buffed (+62.5% or +100% damage) if you are constantly fighting.
  17. Related question: Ideal slotting for Seeker Drones assuming level 30ish set IOs? Do I frankenslott for max X or Y? Or simply stack a set for the +Rech or +def? Never really tested the accuracy / stun / debuff of it, so not sure how worth it would be. Now my lowlie level 27 (I think) has 2 Rech, 1 Acc, 1 Rech/Acc.
  18. Dominators will be a mess. What Controllers get in their APP, dominators get in their secondary. Various Blasters' APP are already represented in their primary or secondary.

Still, should be interesting to see what comes up.
  19. So per the latest news, Villains that get to go heroside keep their current Patron Power Pools until they respec, in which case they'll have to pick a Epic Power Pool. Its all guesswork, but a strict copy paste would not work.

Dominators already have powers in their primary/secondary that are in Controllers' epic (Power Boost, blasts), and Blasters (control powers to begin with). So some messing around will be needed.

    So lets dream!

    Ice Mastery

Yes, yes, most likely overpowered. But in many cases, what else is there to give us? Specially with Mind and Earth.
  20. I'd like to point out that for 4-6 billion you can have +6 very awesome toons or one stuplidly mega awesome soon.

Lightning Storm and Hurricane make for a perfect "stay there" strategy. Add Gale, Energy Blast and some mobility and contrary to what the naysayers say, you can be a tank's friend. Against their own expectations, my Storm/Energy made a lot of tanks happy.

  23. I'd have no problems with the long ET if it weren't for Total Focus. Do we really need two super long ST attacks?

Had I done a nerf to the original ET, I would have given it a -DMG component to it as well. It is called "Energy Tranfer," let it keep the high damage/low animation at the expense of really draining you. You just passed your enegry unto one attack, you should be weak. I'm thinking something in the realm of Rage's massive damage crash, though maybe not as long. Would make for a good finisher, or when you really really want someone dead now. Not the one attack that saves the entire set by spamming it left and right.

Of course, too late for that now.

Also, as much as my Energy Melee tanks would love a buff to whirling hangs, it would make my stalker feel left out.
  24. People keep saying the self damage component was the tradeoff for a quick super damaging atack. Granted, I never got to 50 on my Energy Melee toon, but for the while I used it pre-nerf, I always thought that I got a bargain, the -hp was barely a problem.

For curiosity's sake: How much is it now? What % of your lifebar goes away? Is it the same in PvP?
  25. Quick calculate.
Based on 52 confessions here (me being #52 with 31 years):
    Average age is 39.8.
    Standard Deviation: 15.7
