I love I17 and UM. And you?

I got ati 4650 1gb, and performance was not good at all at test.
But today live, and with catalyst 10.4, the game looks amazing.
I turned everything on at Ultra, except AO at medium quality.
And i had a smooth performance.
I love this. Thanks devs for the great work.
I gotta say that I switched characters from blue to red, and red side UM is less noticeable... And at tailor, the metallic reflectives pieces didnt show any texture, not even the old one. But first time I logged in, everything was working perfectly.
Anyone knows how is this?

I don't really care about the Ultra mode. I turned down the water effects and shadows to improve performance.

I'm keeping busy chasing down all the new badges!

(When I'm done with that, I'll have start working on new MA story arcs, using some of the new maps.)

I hear there's new missions. Where can I pick them up?

The lag is horrible. I thought it was just an issue with test, as it had been going on throughout closed and open beta, but it's still very present on live.

This right here killed *all* of my enthusiasm for I17. Especially since I know that I personally reported the performance issues in Closed Beta, and there were ongoing mentions of it from others, without any dev response.

Missions are still playable, but it's incredibly difficult to actually make it across any zones, and it's just not worth the struggle.

As someone on an older machine who was supposed to be largely unaffected by UM, I'm very, very disappointed.

From what I remember, any character between 20 and 29 should pick up a new contact. For higher level characters, you should be able to find the starting arc in Ouroboros in the 20-24 range. You'll get access to the 25-29 arc after doing the 20-24 arc. (This applies to both heroes and villains.)

What if you are 25 and over? Oro the 20-24 one and unlock the next part?

Actually, a level 29 character of mine picked up the 20-24 contact tonight. That first contact might actually be a 20-29 contact. I didn't try to start the arc though. Too busy getting badges.

I have UM cranked all the way up on my new nvidia 480... and I can still say wow the game looks neerly the same as it did befor, I hope GR really pushes the envelope.
yep water is changed...

I really wish the characters and the powers had changed ALOT more.

other than that... see you when Gr comes out.

Either your card is broken, or you're blind as a bat. I'm on a 9800 GT, and the differences between the old visuals and UM are extremely noticeable.

I'm liking the way the reactions to it seem to be mostly negative.

Wait, I don't like that at all!

Personally, I think the new graphics are nice and all, but I was perfectly happy with the old ones. I have most settings cranked up pretty high, and I'm not seeing much lag, even though I'm not using a top of the line video card. From what I've seen of the new missions, they're fairly entertaining. The new powerset seems "all right." I haven't had much chance to go looking for badges yet.

Still, the feedback I'm seeing from most people is similar to what's coming out in this thread, about 70% negative, 30% positive. Looks as if the new issue has given even more players excuses to quit, which a six-year-old game can ill afford.

I like the shadows. I've got those cranked.

The water is really pretty for taking screenshots if you align the camera just right... otherwise it's pretty distracting that the reflections don't match the scenery. Still, really, really pretty for taking screenshots.

Demon Summoning is really fun, so far.

That's about all I've tested so far.

Realistic visuals do not a great game make. I would enjoy a few rounds of Pac-Man more than I would another instanced mission in CoX. All Paragon has done is given an old MMO a new paint job. The issues that drove me away 2 years ago remain unresolved.

Like the new graphics and they perform fine on my 9800+ GTX. Even did a RWZ raid tonight and it handled just fine.

Hate... hate... HATE the way they screwed up how enhancements look, especially in the enhancement/respec screen on a widescreen monitor. Everything is smashed into ovals with really tiny numbers. For absolutely no good reason or benefit that I can discern.

You need to re-adjust your graphics to match your monitor's native resolution. This is the respec screen and the UI as it appears on mine.

It is at its native resolution. Looking at the Tech support forum, I'm not the only one having this problem.

I hate i17, the only thing i was actually interested in with it was the animated tails since i cant run ultra mode anyway, and even that managed to break.

Cant use tailor to change costumes because i client crash, cant create a new charecter because i crash on name entry screen, which therefore means I cant use demon summoning either. The game is worse off than in it was pre i17, once again a crappy barely tested patch gets pushed to live before its ready, really not impressed at all.

I am going to operate under the assumption that it's a bug of some sort until someone says otherwise.

Oh, and as for i17, I found the new arcs to be quite interesting and full of new stuff, which makes me hopeful for the GR content.

The only problem so far? My FSAA is broken. Things very, very close and very, very far are anti-aliased properly, but everything in between has jagged edges again. Weird.

OTOH, ambient oclusion, reflections, new water, and realtime shadows more than make up for it to the point where eh, it'd be nice to have it fixed, but I ain't complaining.

I like some of the shininess of UM, but it doesn't seem to be that big of a change, really. I suppose I was expecting the shininess to extend to more of the environment than just AE's windows and the water.

There seems to be some minor issue with shiny costume pieces displaying in the character creation/tailor screen, too. They look a bit dark/muddy compared to how they look in the game world. As if the shininess is not displaying in that screen, possibly because of a lack of light source?

I like the animated tails and their seperation from belts, though.

Well, i17 appears to have bricked my Mac's ability to run outside of safe mode.

So that is pretty fun.

Any chance of a fix for this?

The new Market Interface is ugly. Really, really fugly. It's like someone looked at Steam, said "Ooh, grey makes everything look good" and then made that out of it. Not sure it's much better than the old one either to be honest.*

Ultra Modes reflections & shadows actually work on my Craptop. So I have a shiny laminated Widow now, who I'm enjoying playing.*

The Whip Animations look excellent, really good job. The tier 1 demons, less good job. The heads are too blocky and crude looking, it's like they're wearing papier-mache masks.
