  1. I skipped the rest of the thread when I saw the words "I don't want KB" (paraphrased)

Well, i'm in the extreme other camp. I, personally, would prefer KB on more powers. Why? Well, to me, nothing screams "POWERFUL" or "HEAVY DAMAGE" or "CRITICAL HIT" more than blasting an opponent from their feet and sending them across the room. But that'll never happen, and all I can do is dream ...

    Just my two pennies.

    Paragon prepared!

At roughly lunchtime yesterday, the long-lost Harold Simmons, also known as Aerial Assault, a PPD captain with prestigious honours, gave a small speech to journalists today, urging the authorities and local heroes to be ready for an imminent attack.

"A meta-crime group known as the Forged Conclave have been preparing for a large scale and co-ordinated strike on Paragon City. We have reason to believe they will be attacking with some force, so we are urging authority groups and heroes to lend a hand when the time is at hand."

Simmons went on to explain the dangers and goals of the meta-group.

"The Conclave are powerful tech-smiths with many dangerous tools at their disposal. We have reason to believe that they are using repurposed Praetorian WarWorks among their ranks, in addition to a sizable amount of highly advanced war machines. Their ultimate goal is to summon their patron demigod known only as the King. At this time we are not aware of the full extent of their abilities, only that they pose a significant threat to Paragon City and perhaps, we reckon, the rest of the planet."

This news doesn't rest easy for many Paragonians, however, the threat of invasion isn't a new one. Nevertheless, several heroes have already pledged their support, and the PPD has commented saying that "They are always ready to protect Paragon City." No official comment from Longbow or Vanguard, though they have commented that they will "Watch the situation as it unfolds."

Finally, PPD officials have made it clear that looting of Conclave materials will be classed as evidence tampering and will be treated as such. Whether this is enough to deter other crime groups getting involved is to be seen.
  3. Like anything else in the world that involves business, the game (So to speak) is changing. The old model of Pay-To-Play will slowly die out, then Free-to-Play will take it's place.

Will a MMO ever has as much popularity or success as WoW? Probably not, but in this economic climate anything over 100k is good. If Blizzard were smart (And I have no doubt that they are), they should seriously contemplate a F2P model.

Now, if WAR ever becomes F2P, or just popular again, i'll be leaving very swiftly
  4. A while ago I suggested the option to have Bright AND Dark in the same customization.

We already know how this looks in-game, if you observe the Dark Astoria Banished Pantheon Ravagers/Banespawn/Defilers. If we had that option for our powers, well that would just be grand.

However, I believe (From my own speculation) that said BP powers are made from the ground up and coloured uniquely. Doing that for existing powers might be more trouble than it's worth.

Anyway, I'll /sign this because more customization is always fun.
  5. I was going to take a break from CoH ...

    ... Then I saw this.

Cryptics space game - Klingon Mission to kill Tribbles. As everyone knows Tribbles ae born pregnant so not only is the player killing babies he is killing unborn babies as well.

So that's two games off the shelf with babies, and one where the babies get killed.

No one but you seems to be taking the OP seriously. You might want to get that sense of humor checked.

    Edit: fixed typos
I'm aware it's a joke. However, looking at the OP's most recent posts, there seems to be a sort of conflict between "quirky humour/trolling" and "Ermergerd gers, like mer idea"

So my default response is to act super srs.

Edit: Forgot about Baby New Year, but honestly ... I wouldn't really count it. I mean, i'm not a big fan of babies or children in general, but Baby New Year is .... euch ..
  8. Oh.

    Your.

    GOD.

    *imagines ALL the possibilities!*

Now all we need is more character slots and we're good
  9. The writing of this game has it's ups and downs for me.

After having given Praetoria a proper chance, I played a character who did as many missions as he could for either side. All of them were good stories and, thanks to a turned down difficulty meter, I could do without frothing at the mouth about game mechanics (Except for missions with Seers. Seriously, PANCAKING Seers).

Now all I need to do is give the Blueside Arcs a try, if only the oldest ones weren't so dull.
  10. Right .. uh, okay.

How many games are there where there are children in them? At all?

Out of all of them, how many are there where you can attack (and damage/kill) said child?

    Hint: None.

Or at least, none you'll find on a shelf.

    Ergo, this suggestion won't happen.

Personally, I don't really like the idea, due to the fact that there's lots of other costume pieces out there i'd rather be worked on and that I have no to few ideas on how i'd use such a costume piece (Perhaps a mutant with a little man growing out of his back)

If the Developers had infinite time and money and no restrictions, then let the floodgates open, otherwise i'll have to /unsign this.

    ZIG REPUTATION PLUMMETS AGAIN

The reputation of the Ziggursky prison took another hit as several high-profile meta criminals known as the Sinister Squad broke out.

What adds salt to the wound is that at no point was there escape stopped. No alarms were raised and no guards were scrambled. Infact, the alarm was only raised an hour AFTER the criminals had escaped.

The meta-criminals, known as Blackwell, Miss Rad and Cesspit are infamous for their robbing of a bank dressed as famous and beloved heroes, and the kidnapping of a notable hero's daughter (Who has been reclaimed)

This latest breakout brings questions to the legitimacy of the prison.

"The tax payer spends too much money on this crumbling, monolithic sham of a prison." said Rob Denber, founder of the No More Zig group of 10,000 followers. "For too long this prison has stood and failed to do it's basic job; keep criminals inside. This event just shows how woefully under-equipped the Zig is for today's meta crimes."

Ziggursky authorities have re-assured that the event is being looked into, and appropriate action is being taken to make sure that something like this never happens again.
  12. If I want to buy an enhancement off the Market, i'll do so. I don't need a pop-up saying "Hey guess what?! Something you already know, but we're going to tell you anyway!"

This game already has enough pop-ups as it is.
  13. Even though there is literally no way this isn't a troll thread .. a part of me dreads to think ...

    MAYBE IT ISN'T ...
  14. Even though I often spend a lot of money on Bases and a lot of time, I'd throw my lot in with the "Legacy Bases and New Bases" idea, so that I can keep the ones i've worked and spent money on and then move onto the new builder.

Of course, there has to be something that'll appeal to everyone, but i'll leave that for others to figure out, but placeable NPCs or just wandering NPCs would be awesome, as well as a 'Training Room' with test dummies.

    That is all.
  15. Praetoria would've made a good 20-30 zone, but not a starter zone.

To review the enemies in starting areas, starting with heroes:

Hellions - Have a single melee and a single ranged attack each. LT's have one attack.

Skulls - Uh .. same as Hellions

Vahzilok - Euch .. at least you can choose not to fight them

That's heroes. Nice and easy, sets a nice, somewhat relxaed pace to get a feel for your powers.

    Villains you get uh ..

Longbow - Once again, minions with only one ranged attack and one melee attack. The LT's, however, have two ranged attacks, one of which does KD and a melee attack which does a surprising amount of damage. It's very possible to get beaten by a single LT.

Legacy Chain - Nothing much to speak of here.

Infected - .. Same here as well.

None of these groups (Including the hero ones) have any sort of proper DeBuff effects. Maybe -Def, but that's about it.

    Now, Praetoria ..

Resistance - We got Energy damage left right and centre. Basic minions can Stun and have several attacks. The LTs aren't as bad by comparison, and the Bosses are just stupid. Oh, and they can all Stun in melee. Stunlock anyone?

PPD - Actually pretty easy if you can keep out of melee, but all their ranged attacks can KD so easier said than done.

Destroyers - Can remove themselves and die. Blast Masters with high-damage fire patches (Ruins MMs), LTs that are .. eh, quite tough, but manageable on their own, but can become stupid resistant to Mez effects. And Bosses that cheat by using Hurl and Boulder and use Foot Stomp. I mean, really guys?

Clockwork - Regen/Recovery DeBuffs for everyone! Energy damage for all!

Syndicate - Only ones of note are the psychics whose Mez powers have about two seconds between you breaking free and them Mezzing you again.

Seers - Psionic damage. ALL the Psionic damage. All of it. At low levels. Yeah ...

Now, the Praetorian mobs on their own can be a challenge, but can be overcome. The problem arises when AMBUSHAMBUSHAMBUSHAMBUSH or if the game decides to spawn everything at one level higher, where, in Praetoria, one level can be the difference between winning or losing, or if all the mobs decide to group together, making it hard to pull them apart one by one.

It's the reasons mentioned above that prevent me from making a Praetorian character. Villains I can do, since content is run somewhat regularly, or I can just get a boost. Heroes ... uh .. heroes .. nothing needs to be said there.
  16. This has been something i've been thinking on for a while.

We have Bright and Dark options for powers, and it's great, really. Then, when I see new enemies like the Banished Pantheon whose powers have Bright and Dark elements, it shows how limited the colours can be.

As it stands, if you choose a grey/black colour in the Bright option, you either get piercing white or nigh-invisible. If you choose white in the Dark option, you end up with a dirty grey-ish sort of colour.

I suggest a new option(s), Bright&Dark (And Dark&Bright). Say for example you choose Bright&Dark on say, Fire Ball. The inner 'ball' part of the power would be Bright, whilst the trail and explosion would be Dark (Or, vice versa with Dark&Bright)

I understand that this would likely take a huge amount of work, and probably won't be implemented, but just throwing this out there because reasons.
  17. The technical issues make this all but impossible.
    • What happens to the rest of the supergroup?
    • What happens if there's a name clash? Who keeps the name?
    • How could a supergroup base be feasibly 'transferred'? Considering some bases are exceedingly complex
    • Who is allowed to use the token? The group leader?

If all of these can be solved and overcome without devoting several months of work to where other things (Like powersets) could be worked on, then i'll /sign it.

    Until then, consider this unsigned.
  18. It's times like this I firmly believe i'm the only person who likes knockback*

    *when used responsibly
  19. There's no powersets which I "hate" as such, but some, for me, are unbearable.
    1. Illusion - God, do I dislike Illusion. I've even tried for the Illusion/Rad combo and still found it abysmmal to play. Just really, really boring.
    2. Force Field - Outclassed by pretty much any other Support set. Even worse on a Defender unless you picked a good attacking powerset.
    3. Infact, Thermal and Cold Domination, or anything which requires me to keep a buff active on more than two people. Because the only time the whole time stands in a neat little group is right at the beginning of a mission, and i'm not shouting out every 2 minutes.
    4. Super Reflexes - I have a lot of SR characters, and I like the set, but A) Scrappers get the AoE defence toggle far too late B) Motherchuffin RNG
    5. Titan Weapons - Higher levels, it destroys everything. Pre-SOs? You'll be lucky to have any hair left.
    6. Stone Melee - Hits hard, but it hits your endurance harder

That's all I can think of at the moment. I've tried most sets and like nearly all of them, some are just more/less fun than others.

All games are getting easier these days. Simple fact. They're trying to appeal to more casual gamers and younger/less experienced gamers.

But that's an argument for another thread.

    ----

Anywho, on topic, my response would be:

"Let people spend money how they want. After all, it's their money and they can waste it how they want."

Paragon Studios offers services in exchange for money (Laugh and you die). This is the basic business idea of just about everything.

They want to make this game profitable to keep it afloat, whilst also keeping their playerbase happy. I believe, despite all the gnashing and wailing you see around here, that they do.

The Paragon Market is still a new thing. These Amplifiers have never been seen before on the Market. I'm not sure how they're selling, but by the forum response it should, at least, give the Developers a few ideas on what to do and what not to do if they want to sell performance enhancing items on the Market (Laugh and you're also dead).

The game won't become Play-to-win at any point, because that would tip the profit to happiness scale into dangerous territory. Some may argue that it's already happening, what with XP Boosters, Team Inspirations and IO Sets on the Market. These are items that (In order) only provide a modest boost and isn't 100% necessary, is a situation item and finally, isn't 100% required to play the game and can be earned in-game rather easily through a variety of methods.

Now, if the scenario appears that a "Insta-level 50!" item appears on the Market, I will gladly post a picture of me eating a hat.

    That is all.
  21. Whilst I think Super Packs are a great idea, I do think that releasing the costume parts somewhere down the line at an extended price would be better for the community.

That's all I have to add.
  22. Freakshow Heavy Gunner - Tank with Miniguns for arms. I mean, why haven't the Freaks thought of this yet?!

Crey Prototype - This could either be a fancy looking Tank, or a Scientist with a fancy gun, where his attacks have a chance to do A LOT of damage, or completely backfire.

Hellion Firebomber - Boss-level non-magic Hellion that basically uses the Molotovs.

Council/5th Column Mortar - A special enemy that could be mission-specific (Outdoors) that can hit you at any range, provided you're in an unobstructed field of vision.

Vahzilok Zombie Tank - A boss-level zombie that's just really big. And explodes on death.

Malta Controller - Like a Sapper, except applies a liberal dose of Slow DeBuffs, because we all hate those. Likely from a Cryo Gun.

Rikti Guard - Personal guards of the Lord of War, sometimes they are sent out personally to fight his foes. They could use TW or Staff, or some other powerset that makes sense, but I imagine them being specialized for melee, or ranged with bubble support

Rikti Heavy Drone - Like the Drones, except bigger and nastier with more guns. Like a Heavy Assault Suit if it didn't have a pilot.

Warrior Champion - Boss-level Warrior clad in armour, uses a variety of 'shouts' as buffs for himself and his allies.

Circle of Thorns Summoner - One of the Portals on legs, basically.

Vahzilok Butcher - He doesn't care for surgery, he just likes chopping things. Uses a big meat cleaver.

Tsoo Ancestor Spirit - I know, they have these. But perhaps we could have boss-level versions that look like the Ancestral Wardens, except ghost-y.

Devouring Earth Dryad - A female lieutenant/boss class that uses Plant Control/Nature Affinity.

Hydra Evolver - Uses Bio Armor. That's about it. Could become gradually more resistant to attacks, meaning quick, decisive blows are in order, and heavy AoE's only.

Re-purposed War Walker/WarWorks - For Vanguard/5th/Council/Crey/Malta/Longbow. Is what it says it is, but perhaps with some new additions and a new paint job.

Rularuu Avatar - An Avatar of one of the aspects of Rularuu. Either EB or Boss class.

PPD Anti-Metahuman Division (AMD) - Like SWAT, only with state-of-the-art gear (A bit like Malta). Basically so we can have non-Kheldians at levels 40+. Perhaps throw in some Hard Suits here as well.

Sky Raider Demolitions - Uses a variety of grenades and placed mines. Has a grenade launcher.

Gold/Platinum/Impervium/Adamantium/Whatever tough metal Strongman - Boss-level Strongman. Fancier helmet and mallet. That's about it.
  23. Seriously, the movement buff is negligible, ever since Fitness was an inherent.

The main gripe is the fact that, where I could have something -actually- useful, like say, Pain Tolerance or Quick Reflexes, I get twenty minutes of ever so slightly faster running.

It annoys me that a power I -paid for- can, in some cases, be completely useless and unusable for twenty minutes.

I actually get excited when I get Devolution.

A tiny, tiny buff to some other area isn't going to invalidate all the other mutations and shatter the game in half.

Edit: To see exactly how faster Heightened Speed makes you, I decided to do a short test.

Starting on the road next to the AE building that leads up to Blue Steel in Kings Row.

The results are, that Heightened Speed gets you to a destination three seconds faster. This isn't a great deal. Infact, looking at the numbers Heightened Speed grants, a measly 2-4 mph aren't going to be breaking any speed records any time soon.
