Mutation: Heightened Speed

Can we get this either changed or removed? Because at the moment, it's the real gag prize of Secondary Mutation, rather than Devolution.

I suggest adding a minor recharge boost to the power, in addition to the laughable speed increase, to make it a tiny bit less insulting.

I was doing some playthroughs of City of Heroes. Now they will serve as memories of a better time ...

Mutation's predecessor [Mystic Fortune] already has it's own gag prize of [The Fool], speed increase with increased recharge but a small ToHit penalty.

If it has a component that improves something above speed, it's likely to have a counterbalance elsewhere.

It's funny, I don't consider The Fool to be a gag prize, since it gives quite a large recharge bonus which should offset the ToHit penalty.

Heightened Speed is twenty minutes of 'you jog a bit faster'. Whoever thought Heightened Speed was something other than a gag prize clearly never picked any travel powers ever.

not exactly in defense of Heightened Speed, but.......it is noticable on my stone brute.

It's a powerful roulette self buff usable on any character.

No buff needed.

If it gets a change, I'd rather just see a larger movement buff or some slow resistance or something than a recharge buff. Helps keep it more distinct from the Quick Reflexes buff, and doesn't dilute the "roulette buff" effect.

I kinda like it. I always like moving faster without burning end. It's a minor buff, like the rest of the minor buffs in Mutation and Mystic Fortune. No biggie dealio.

I always seem to get it when I'm doing an escort mission. "Now you have a buff that makes it even easier for the NPC to lose track of you! Congratulations!"

It can be nice at times (especially, yeah, on my Stone/Stone Tanker), but it's also the only one that doesn't have any combat application. I'd rather there have been a small +Resist buff as one of the effects (to go along with the two different +Defense buffs, one of which also gives +accuracy and +perception).

Seriously, the movement buff is negligible, ever since Fitness was an inherent.

The main gripe is the fact that, where I could have something -actually- useful, like say, Pain Tolerance or Quick Reflexes, I get twenty minutes of ever so slightly faster running.

It annoys me that a power I -paid for- can, in some cases, be completely useless and unusable for twenty minutes.

I actually get excited when I get Devolution.

A tiny, tiny buff to some other area isn't going to invalidate all the other mutations and shatter the game in half.

Edit: To see exactly how faster Heightened Speed makes you, I decided to do a short test.

Starting on the road next to the AE building that leads up to Blue Steel in Kings Row.

The results are, that Heightened Speed gets you to a destination three seconds faster. This isn't a great deal. Infact, looking at the numbers Heightened Speed grants, a measly 2-4 mph aren't going to be breaking any speed records any time soon.
