  1. Usually, I set my difficulty to spawn bosses when solo as one of the first things I do as part of my "new character routine" (which also includes stuff like loading settings, claiming vet rewards, arranging power trays, etc.), but other than that, I just leave it at the default +0/x1 when soloing.

On the rare occasions when I'm on a non-TF team that I'm providing the missions for, I'll run the first mission at that setting, then adjust the level upward on each mission after that until the missions become challenging, but not overwhelming, and as Biowraith mentioned, what level that is will vary from team to team.
  2. Although I don't personally know anyone in Japan, I know from many years of Nintendo playing and anime watching that it is a country with a rich and fascinating culture, and it is sad to see such devastation there. My heart goes out to the people of Japan.
  3. My first character, Spectreblade (Broadsword/Dark Armor Scrapper), was created when I first got the game shortly after launch, and remains my main to this day, and is also my first character to reach Lv. 50. I've since created a lot more characters, but Spectreblade's still the one that I've put the most effort into developing.
  4. I've had this problem, too. I only started having this happen when I got my new computer, which was last summer, so the "wide-screen monitor" theory sounds plausible as a cause. There's also the fact that I usually use my keyboard for most of my gameplay, like powers, movement, and tabbing through targets (probably a result of growing up playing console games), which means that I don't usually have as much of an incentive to pay attention to where my cursor is, causing problems on those few occasions when I do need to use the cursor to point at something.

As for age, I'm not really that old. Today was my 28th birthday. And BTW, I do wear glasses, which I have on almost constantly (only taking them off when I'm in the shower or in bed), and I still sometimes have trouble seeing where the cursor is. I'm probably due for a new pair, though.
  5. I don't really see it too often, but a little while ago I did see someone in the RWZ demanding 200 million inf to have him on a LGTF back when it was the weekly strike target.
  6. Another factor I think might be involved here is the fact that the Assault power from the Leadership pool provides Taunt resistance. Perhaps that might be why it didn't have an effect.
  7. Spectreblade's Incarnate item would be his sword. Up until now, all his powers have come from the possessed suit of armor he wears, which was part of a collection he inherited. It wouldn't be too much of a stretch to imagine that the armor wasn't the only enchanted artifact in the collection, and in fact there have been many instances where would-be villains have tried to steal from the collection hoping to find an artifact to empower themselves with. And one sword from the collection just happened to be a link to the Well.
  8. As a long-time member of the Paragonian Knights, I'm sad to hear that we're disbanding, but I'll respect their decision. It mainly boils down to inactivity. Like BDD said in the original post, the group just hasn't been the same as it used to.

As for me, I'll still going to be playing the game, whether it's as a Knight, a member of another SG, maybe a personal SG so I can try out base building, or perhaps just independently of any group. Whatever the case, I will always have fond memories of the friends I've made and the adventures we've had.
  9. While I have been playing this game almost since launch, I'm only now really starting to seriously use the player ratings and notes system, and I'm curious about how other players use it.

Whenever I join a PuG, I give everyone on the team 3 stars out of 5 to start with, and then adjust up or down from there depending on their behavior, and add a note explaining what that person did to warrant gaining or losing stars. When teaming with my SG, fellow SG members start with 4 stars and a note that they are in my SG.

So, my ranking system is something like this:

5 stars: Real life friends, SG officers, and other especially helpful people.

4 stars: SG-mates, and other players who have been generally helpful and friendly toward me.

3 stars: Players I've been on a pick-up group with, but didn't really stand out one way or the other. This is the only rank for which I don't include a note explaining what warrants the rank, since it is my default.

2 stars: Players who do things that, while generally inconsiderate and annoying, are not things that violate any actual game rules.

1 star: Those who have commited petition-worthy offenses such as griefers, trolls, RMT spammers, cyberstalkers, and people who spew threats and abuse.

On a side note, sometimes, when I see someone being 2 or 1-star worthy over a public chat channel like Help, I'll try to set a note about them, only to find that they are hidden, which causes the note to list their local name as their global handle. Is that working as intended? And if I ever ran into such a person again on a different character on a PuG or something, would the rating and note about them still show up?

When I try to use the "get global handle" command from the menu that pops up when I click on the name, I still get the global handle (except it says "@GlobalHandle is hidden, offline, or does not exist" instead of "Local Name has the global handle, @GlobalHandle"), so I would still be able to use a slash command to create a proper note if I knew what that command was. Is there such a command?

But on the main topic, how do you use your ratings and notes? Do you rate everybody, or just those that stand out? What warrants a 1-star rating, or a 5-star, or anything in between, to you?
  10. Hello. Is there a way to make a keybind that will put two of my henchman ranks into Aggressive mode, and the third into Defensive mode?

For example, on my Ninjas/Poison MM, I usually run through missions with my Oni and Jounin in Aggressive mode, while I leave my Genin in Defensive to use as bodyguards.

    Right now I have two keybinds that I use to set up that "ready" configuration; one to put the Jounin into Aggressive, and one for the Oni. Having the bind set the Genin to Defensive if they are out of it for some reason would be nice too, but not mandatory since Defensive is the default henchman stance anyway. So basically, what I'm trying to do is;

    Genin: Defensive
    Jounin: Aggressive
    Oni: Aggressive

Is there a way I can do that with a single keybind instead of the two I use now?
  11. I've run into this problem on my Demon Summoner, too. This is more than just a cosmetic annoyance to Demon Summoners (as well as Mercs and Thugs to a lesser degree), as I learned the other day.

The other day I joined a Winter Lord team and was Malefactored to where I got the Hellfire Gargoyle, and I quickly whipped up a simple keybind to have the gargoyle attack my target. But since I'd used petcom_name in the bind, when I tried to use it to sic the Gargoyle on Lord Winter, it sent my Ember Demon after him instead since their names were swapped. Is there a command that I can use to specify that I want the Gargoyle to attack by a way other than name?
  12. While most of my characters are male like my real self, I do have some girls in my roster. When I make female characters, mine tend to be on the smaller end of the scale as far as breast size goes, but it varies with the needs of the concept, and characters who are larger as a whole will tend to have larger breasts.

But in general, I don't think I've ever made one with the breast slider moved too far to the right, since, at least to me, there comes a point with both real-life and fictional women where breasts start to look more like balloons stuck to her chest than a natual part of her body, and I just don't find that attractive.

Also, my female characters tend to be more conservatively dressed. Although my two most commonly played girls both sport the thigh-highs and miniskirt look (one of whom has flight as her travel power) they aren't too revealing when viewed from the angles other players would see them from.
  13. I only plan on making my main hero and main villain into Incarnates. My main villain, Orochi Dragon (Ninjas/Poison MM) is already the head of a clan who worships Yamata No Orochi, so making him into an incarnate of the Eight-Headed Serpent would not be that big of a stretch concept-wise.

Trying to find a way to justify Spectreblade (Broadsword/Dark Armor Scrapper) being an incarnate is a bit tougher, as the source of his power is his possessed suit of armor that he inherited along with a bunch of other medieval artifacts. But as I did the arc and read this thread, I realized that "Incarnate" does not necessarily mean "Incarnate of a specific god". In fact, the Ramiel arc casts some doubt on the previous assertions in the lore that Statesman and Lord Recluse are really the embodiments of Zeus and Tartarus, respectively. (And on a side note, isn't Tartarus a place rather than a deity?) As the Well itself stated in the arc, its sources are many.

And then there's Hero1, whose link to the Well was the sword Excalibur. Which gave me the idea. Why not have Spectreblade come across a similarly empowered sword? Perhaps not on the same level as Excalibur, but still with a trace of Incarnate power. I could simply say that the armor was not the only magical artifact in the collection, and sword had also been lying in Spectreblade's collection of medieval doodads gathering dust until it was discovered, or that the artifact from the Ramiel arc was the sword.

SO I find myself selecting certain 50's being elected to Incarnate status.

Anyone else going this way ???
I don't plan on making all of my Lv 50 characters incarnates for much the same reason. I think of my heroes as teammates, with my main hero Spectreblade as leader, and my villains as their Rogues Gallery, with my main villain Orochi Dragon as the Big Bad. So those are the only two I plan to make into Incarnates, and I'll probably be putting more effort into developing Spectreblade's incarnate abilities since he's my overall main.

Have Hardcore Joe reading through your capabilities and saying your not slotted is going too far in my opinion.
It already works that way. Only those without something in their Alpha slot will suffer the debuff. Whoever was saying that having just one team member without their Alpha slot slotted will cause the whole team to be debuffed, was wrong.

As for inherent Fitness, I'll admit that is is a lot of work respeccing my characters for it. But once I get that over with, it'll be back to playing the game as I did before, with my characters a bit stronger than before.

And so far I only have my main hero incarnate-ized, and he now has a common Cardiac Boost. I might unlock the Alpha Slot on my main villain, but I haven't really decided on that yet. But those are the only two characters I plan on making into Incarnates.
  16. When dealing with the lack of new slots to go with the new powers, I've usually taken the second option, salvaging slots from other powers.

Most of the time, they've been taken from my attacks. Before inherent fitness, my standard attack slotting was 3 Damage/2 Accuracy/1 End Reduction. But since I usually run at +0/X1 when soloing, the second accuracy was often overkill, so I've been going with 5 slots in most of my attacks. And while I'd originally planned on leaving inherent Stamina at just the slot that came with it, in the respecs I've done so far I've found that I usually still have enough slots left over to 3-slot Stamina as I did before.
  17. Spectreblade

    clock

Usually when I'm playing, I keep my wristwatch nearby so I can just look over at it when I want to know what time it is. But I'll have to try that slash command the next time I'm in game. Thanks!
  18. I've always interpreted Empathy as being a Psionic powerset. Just about all the other powersets have an underlying theme to them, and I consider Empathy to be "Psionic buff/debuff" set, like how Thermal Radiation is the "Fire buff/debuff" set or Kinetics is the "Energy buff/debuff" set. (Of course, those sets all vary in their position on the buff/debuff scale)

If Empathy weren't Psionic, it would just be the "Generic buff/debuff" set and not have any character to it.
  19. On a lot of my characters, I skipped the travel power prerequisite using my veteran reward to make room for something else, and on those characters, I'll be taking the prerequisite again.

As for others, it mostly depends on the character. I might take more of the direct attacks on my Masterminds, or some of the powers that have always been fun-looking, but of questionable usefulness.

As for slots, that kinda worries me, but I think it's a small price to pay to have an acual choice of what powers to take instead of needing that specific pool in order to have a viable character.

Right now, my standard attack power slotting is 3 damage, 2 accuracy, and 1 end discount. But I usually run +0, x1, bosses, no AV's. I was never really into the whole min/maxing thing, and at even-level, the second accuracy is more of a luxury, so if worse comes to worse, I could take those slots and use them in the new powers.
  20. The AT I've played the least are Corruptors. It's the only AT that I've never gotten out of the teen levels, outside the Epics.

As far as the Epics go, I've got a Lv. 12 Peacebringer and a Lv. 12 Arachnos Soldier. I think the main reason I never really got into those was because with them, the character's origin story's basically already been written for me, which takes a lot of the fun out of creating a character for me.

For Corruptors, I really don't have an explanation, though.
  21. NPC's that actually fight alongside you will be able to follow you even if you're stealthed, but non-combatants like hostages don't.
  22. I'm dissapointed by not having difficulty adjusters in Praetoria too. Usually the only change I make to my difficulty is to set it so that bosses spawn as bosses in solo missions, and not being able to do even that is frustrating.
  23. I'm having a similar issue. I purchased some character slots today, and last time I checked I didn't have the option to redeem them. Where the "Redeem Slot" button would be, I still have "Buy Additional Slots". On my NC Master Account page, they show up as having been paid for, but I still don't see them. I also bought some slots yesterday, and they showed up to be redeemed instantly then. I imagine it has to do with how busy the server is, but I hope that gets sorted out soon.
  24. Since a Crab Spider's extra arms are essentially hardwired into their nervous system, they will appear on all of your costumes whether you want them to or not, so you should be able to get the look you want on any of your extra costume slots.
  25. I'm making another try at a Dark Melee/Stone Armor Brute. I'm trying to decide if I should respec out of Shadow Maul, and have a few questions.

Is it true that using it results in a net loss of Fury due to its animation time? And if so, is it still worth keeping despite that drawback? Would the number of targets within its range when i use it affect the Fury I get from it (i.e. will hitting multiple targets give me any more Fury than hitting one)? Will running Rooted, and later Granite Armor, significantly affect my ability to line up enemies for Shadow Maul's cone?

    So, what do you think?
