Quote:Heh. Nor did I, discovered it by accident. Thanks, that's really not how I expected it to work. Any similar tricks for Swiss Draw or we still need 8 people for that?
I run on Champion server, and recently started getting a pentad match together. By sheer luck, the 3rd person we invited was the same AT as either myself or the other person. Once he joined the team, the "Start Match" button enabled, and we started. Honestly, I'm not sure this is Working As Intended, but there it is.
For swiss draw, unfortunately you need 8 peeps. -

You only need two people, of the same AT, to run a pentad match. For example, Blaster1 lists the pentad match. Then, Blaster2 joins, and is automatically placed on the second team (since Blaster1 is already listed on the first team). Once there is at least one person on each team, the match can be started. -
I've been noticing an increase of this kind of behavior lately. It's certainly not epidemic in proportion, but disturbing nonetheless.

I've never done it, but have seen it mentioned on these boards before that yes, what you suggest can be done (as opposed to a re-install and several hours of patching).

TonyV gives an excellent summary.
One small quibble: if you are playing this game on the PC, and you buy the Mac Pack upgrade code, you do not need to download the Mac client. Just apply the Mac Pack upgrade code to your account as usual, and you get the related perks.
While on the topic of the Mac Pack, the Mission Teleporter is an extremely handy feature. I was initially skeptical of the utility of this power, given the two-hour recharge time, but have since come to love this power. Very, very much! -
Personally, I like to take a napzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Since I started this game 5 years ago, Champion's been my main server. It has a decent population, and a good friendly community for the most part. If you come to Champion, I recommend joining the global chat channel, BMT of Champion. It's a popular channel dedicated to players looking for (B)adges, (M)onster Hunting, and running (T)ask forces.
Welcome to the game. Hope you stick around awhile. -
Quote:Heh. Didn't know what the heck you were talking about until your second-to-last sentence where you spell "pact" correctly for the first time. Didn't know what the heck a "lvl pack" was.Hey do lvl packs automatically break if you let your account lapse for a couple months and then come back. I have many packs between my two accouts and let them both lapse less than 90 days. Now I re-upped and all the pacts are broken. Guess I will just have to do some work to log people back in.
You might want to edit to correct, although LL has answered the question. -

Quote:Welcome. I hope you stick around awhile. Thanks for the kind and informative response I'll take take a close look at all the perks and go from there. I will stick for a while and play this along Side Aion when it gets released
I definitely recommend you upgrade with the GvE edition. You can upgrade with the regular retail versions of CoH or CoV, but GvE comes with some perks that you'll find come in handy. Also, do make sure you UPGRADE your existing trial account. If you "ADD" a new account, then you won't have access to your original characters. The game is also already fully installed on your computer, so simply apply the upgrade code, and you're good to go. No further downloading of the client is required.
The additional expansion packs are just perks, such as temporary powers, and costume pieces. Not having them, at least right away, will not in any way restrict you from playing the full game. You can buy serial codes later to add these packs if you feel so inclined. I personally have them all, but some are more useful than others.
Welcome, and enjoy the game! -

Quote:Howdy. So just did a Rikti Raid tonight.
First question: When doing these raids we took down the pylons and the shields dropped. Then everyone is fighting on top the saucer and then people are planting bombs. We then move to the center of the saucer and fight and die some more. With that being said, is there an ultimate objective in this or can there be an ultimate objective such as blowing up the ship or planting a certain number of bombs or is there no ultimate win and you just get Vanguard Merits? And as for these bombs, who can plant them or how can you plant them? Is there a guide for these kinds of raids to walk you through?
Second question: What can Vanguard Merits get me? It seems you cannot redeem for enhancements or can you maybe at Wentworths? Again would paragonwiki mention anything on this? Thanks in advance to all who replied.
To your specific questions, the objectives are as follows:
1. Badges. You get a badge when you (and/or your team) plants a bomb 25 times, and when you (and/or your team) contributes to the defeat of the Giant Monster 10 times.
2. Vanguard Merits. You can redeem these at the work stations in the Vanguard base for a variety of items, such as a salvage sack (ability to hold up to 10 extra salvage items), Vanguard Heavy (temp ally power), Vanguard Uniform costume items, Vanguard Sigil costume change emote, and much more.
Definitely check the wiki, the info is there.
The raids themselves are full of chaotic fun as well, and I enjoy running them when they form. -

Quote:I would advise not to give up your SG. By "work[ing] hard soloing to get what I have" you mean a highly functional base, I say keep things as-is. My hero-side SG is pretty much my own solo SG -- I have many online friends, and a few of their lesser-played alts are in my SG, but for all intents and purposes, my SG and base are for my own, primary use (crafting station, porters, storage bins, etc.).Oh darn ok, well I tried, I may just give my SG up, I worked hard soloing to get what I have, but my members are so inactive. only few on every now and then. I hate to give it up but...I wanted more interaction... oh well
Honestly, the SG name can't be that bad, to the point it cannot be ignored, can it? -
[QUOTE=Lemur_Lad;2077903]A short guide with a link in your sig would be less inflammatory. Even better would be to open a discussion in the City Life section and get a broader sample of people's feelings through the community ...[QUOTE]
And even better would be to initiate a Royal Commission into the matter, empowered with the ability to subpoena witnesses to testify, and ensure a report, complete with recommendations to the forum moderators, is presented by the end of the calendar year.

Quote:Ignore it.I know this is kind of an odd question, but how do you (generic) deal with people who give negative rep without signing their name?
Just today, for example, I had a positive reputation from someone who signed their name (thank you), and a negative reputation for THE EXACT SAME THING, with no name.
It bothers me because I feel like it's an attack I can't defend against.
How should I deal with it? Ignore it entirely? Change what they didn't like so I don't get further negative rep? Do what they suggest in hopes they will come back and give me positive rep?
Oh, and disable your reputation in your user options. I gather folks can still "rate" you, but nobody can see your reputation. -
Quote:LOL I remember hitting 14 for the first time beating on Hydra in Perez Park, sometime mid-July 2004. I ran immediately to Ms. Liberty and selected Fly, and spent the next half hour flying around AP. I was so dissapointed when I found out I could not land, and stand on the AP Blimp.Shoot, on my first character I was in Perez knocking the stuffing out of Hydra

This is a good point, and dovetails with my point above about "teaming up." I should have mentioned it to the OP, but yes, being in teams does provide a bonus to xp (i.e. being in a team of 8, for example, doesn't just dole out the same xp, times eight, that a player running solo would gain).

Quote:Hi there.Whats the best way to lvl up I know its AE But, What do i do, Join higher lvl partys? Etc.. im lvl 6
Plz dont flame =/ its just a simple question.
I'm going to move forward on the assumption, based on your forum join date and post count, that you're new to the game.
As a 5+ year vet of this game, I'm happy to provide some advice:
1. Ignore the AE. There's nothing wrong with AE per se, but it is currently largely being used for power leveling and farming. A new player really ought to have no interest in these activities. IMO.
2. Team up (not in AE). There's some great content out there in terms of story arcs, task forces, trials, giant monster spawns, etc. There's a great big city out there to explore, stories to read, etc., that you'll miss out on if you stick in the AE building.
3. Read the content. Read clues. Read the mission text. Read the souvenirs.
4. You have a level 6 character now. Try rolling another character. If your existing character is, for example, a scrapper, try something completely different, like a controller.
5. Find a heavily used (non farming, non AE) global chat channel on your server. For example, on Champion server it is BMT of Champion. It is a channel devoted to players wanting (B)adges, (M)onster hunting, and running (T)ask forces. I understand similar types of channels pretty much exist on all servers.
Welcome to the game! Enjoy the content, enjoy your characters, and the leveling will take care of itself. -

Quote:No plans for the e-mail system have been announced by the devs since they added the Spam button several issues back. Sadly, for most players (I believe), the e-mail system is little more than a spam in-box.
Any plots and plans to make the in-game email system do anything OTHER THAN deliver SPAM?
Many players do use the existing system quite legitimately, so I don't think removing it is a viable option.
Personally, I'd like to see an option to disable e-mail altogether. -
Quote:You missed:1) Send someone an e-mail that compels them to respond.
2) Wait for a response.
3) Get a response.
Voila.
And by the way, the Spam button *does* work. The RMTers are just making new accounts after the ones that are reported as spamming are banned.
4) ........
5) Profit!
