You only need two people, of the same AT, to run a pentad match. For example, Blaster1 lists the pentad match. Then, Blaster2 joins, and is automatically placed on the second team (since Blaster1 is already listed on the first team). Once there is at least one person on each team, the match can be started.
Q. Just wondering Posi, where are the new dance emotes we were told would come with GR?
A. Positron: Whoops, my bad.

I run on Champion server, and recently started getting a pentad match together. By sheer luck, the 3rd person we invited was the same AT as either myself or the other person. Once he joined the team, the "Start Match" button enabled, and we started. Honestly, I'm not sure this is Working As Intended, but there it is.
For swiss draw, unfortunately you need 8 peeps.

It was sort of on the "it'll happen when it happens" level for me. I guess it was fixed some time since then so I suppose I'll give it another try. |

Are you referring to the Swiss tournament badge (requires 8 people, but not on "teams"), or the Pentad and/or Septad badge(s)?
If you actually mean the Pentad badge, then Master-Blade quoted you the patch notes that fixed that earlier this month. However, if you're referring to the Swiss tournament, that's completely different...
