I've seen some people who have avatars that change repeatedly. Every time you reset the page, the Avatar changes. How do you go about doing this?
-
I suggested something like this too. Unfortunately it was quickly shot down, as everyone said it wasn't a good idea.
I personally don't see anything wrong with it. You shouldn't be allowed to make missions that grant ungodly amounts of XP/Inf. -
This thread sums up my reasons for never suggesting anything again. Instead of offering constructive criticism, people just come in and say "ur idea suks and so do u."
Anyways, I agree that vigilance desperately needs to be changed. The Power Boost suggestion was good, now they just need to make it extend to enhancing defense/resistance. -
I should be able to join you on the Ernesto Hess TF. Sign Smash Zone up for the ride.

What the title says. I was doing a Posi TF last night, when I noticed this strange bug. Upon entering the mission, any movement of the cursor would freeze the game. At first I thought it was just a laggy mission, but it persisted throughout the whole mission. I could move and look around with the keyboard, but any movement of the mouse would freeze the game until you stopped.
This problem stayed even after the mission. I rebooted my computer, and that fixed the problem for the time being. Does anybody know what exactly was happening there? -
Welcome to Player Questions, what is your question?
-
That was probably the most fun I've ever had in this game. I did get a video on the last mission, I'd put it together now, but I'm going to be gone all day today. I'll probably have it up on youtube tomorrow.
Thanks for letting me join, Luna! Great times had by all! -
When you're playing Call of Duty 4 and losing, you think to yourself "I'll start doing better when I get SO's!"

Cold Domination bugs you, but Mental Manipulation, Energy Manipulation, Electricity Manipulation, Assault Rifle, Battle Axe, War Mace, and Mind Control don't?
It's not particularly heroic for a hero to punch the bad guys face in with Super Strength. It's also not heroic to riddle them with bullets with an Assault Rifle.
It's just a name, big deal. Just like this is just a game and it shouldn't bother you that much that something is called "Cold Domination" even though the powerset does exactly what it's called. It allows you to dominate cold. -
Where on earth did you find that? The one I'm looking at says stuff about Issue 8!
-
It's still talking about Issue 8... we've announced Issue 16! Somebody please update the Facebook page!

Well, if you combine warshades with explosions, the awesomeness can cause your computer to crash!
In all seriousness though, I would like more explosions in the game, particularly on hero side, though it wouldn't be fun if everything exploded. Maybe if all robot/tech type enemies exploded or something. Villain side gets mayhem missions with hundreds of cars and trucks to destroy, heroes get the occasional Rikti drone. -

I do think its a bit excessive in its use, since it seems to be to the point where there are no lowbie teams outside of it,

O RLY?
The team in the video was level 23-25 in Talos Island. I didn't even try, somebody just broadcasted "level 23-25ish team LFM"
and I sent them a tell. Meanwhile, in-between missions, there were atleast 3 other teams broadcasting for members. They weren't AE teams, just regular mission groups. Also, keep in mind that all of this was on FREEDOM, where non-AE teams supposedly are non-existant.
Seriously, just look around. Good teams exist, you just have to find them. Also, if you can't find them, start your own, it's not that hard. -
What are the level ranges involved? Smash Zone, my level 23 tanker would like to enter. Though by Thursday he'll probably be level 24-25.
-
O RLY?
Seriously, good teams are not hard to find. I was wandering around Talos Island, selling on WW and what-not, and I see somebody broadcasting for a team. I say "what the heck" and decide to join them. This was probably the most fun I've had in a long time. Keep in mind that this was a PuG in Talos, on FREEDOM! The so-called "farming server" where it's supposedly impossible to find regular teams anymore.
Anyways, the team started with just me, 2 controllers and a defender. In the middle of the first mission, we picked up a tanker, and continued with that. After the first mission, we happened upon a controller and scrapper, looking for a good team. They soon joined the crew, making the team count 7. We got the second mission set up, and everyone gathered by the door. Before we started, someone asked "Are we ready?" and right as he said that, we found a blaster who quickly joined the team. With that our team was complete, and we went ahead to complete our mission. Unfortunately, my teaming with them had to end after that mission, as I had to go eat Dinner. All in all, it was a very enjoyable session of City of Heroes.
Good teams exist people, you just have to look for them. -

I don't know, problems would arise over who gets what badge and when. Suppose Team A decided to get the Knight Errant and they went to to search for construction. Likewise, Team B is also hunting for the Paladin, but they want the construction to complete so they can get the [insert badge name here] badge. It could lead to fighting between teams who wanted Knight Errant, and teams who wanted the other badge, if one was introduced, and would make some players angry because they wanted Badge A instead of Badge B.

"Defeat Back Alley Brawler." "Defeat Mynx." "Defeat..." (think the name was Burning Demon, one of the VEAT arcs.)Multiple "Defeat one named person."
Quite a few missions full of one mob type, one "group" of one individual with a different type (Vindicators, Paragon Heroes, Freedom Phalanx, Rogue Isle Villains, etc.) You know, the exact same situation that I can set up with a group with one named boss to ensure we don't have a mission with multiple "unique named enemy so-and-so" spawning. (Yes, over the course of the game we see the rest of that specific group - but not that one mission. Even if there are mutliple missions like that in one arc - like the Crimson Revenant arc - they're in their own group, pulled out for one specific mission. A separate, "all boss" group.)
And of course, the devs have more tools at their disposal than we do - we get a *subset* of them. They *can* force the mission to spawn only one, say, Chief Wilkins from Crey in a map full of Crey without giving him a group of his own.
[/ QUOTE ]
AE allows you to pick a custom boss and have a different surrounding enemy group. I have an arc with a custom hero I created surrounded by longbow. You set the main enemy group to something like Longbow, and then you can set the custom boss to be surrounded by longbow, or any other villain group.
The "Chief Wilkins" example can be created with AE too. You set the enemy group as Crey, then you pick which Crey boss you want. You can rename bosses of any kind with AE. I could rename Lord Recluse "Arachnos Dude" if I wanted to.
I really don't see how this would hurt the story-tellers. If they are wanting only one boss for their group for only one mission, they can set a different surrounding group. The "Defeat Back Alley Brawler" and "Defeat Mynx" mission can easily be set up in AE by just selecting Mynx or whoever you want as a boss, then set the surrounding group to longbow. -
Reading the 2 new profiles for the Going Rogue characters, and I noticed this in Desdemona's bio.
[ QUOTE ]
Unfortunately in doing so, Statesman left himself open to attack and the demon dealt him a near fatal blow. Using the distraction, Desdemona was able to gain the upper hand and bring the demon under her sway. There she stood, with the man responsible for her mother's death lying at her feet. With one command, her new pet could easily finish what it had started. Suddenly the opportunity she had dreamed of her whole life had arrived. Whether the greatest hero in Paragon City would live or die was her choice. She raised her hand as if to send her minion to attack.and then simply turned and walked away with her emotions in a jumble.
[/ QUOTE ]
So, you're telling me that Statesman can withstand an onslaught of endless attacks from 8 super villains, but when a demon smacks him he nearly dies? What, is this the rare 'Hamidon' classed demon? How does Desdemona control something of such magnitude that it can swat Statesman down like a fly?
Here's some more...
[ QUOTE ]
Eve's mother, Amelia, was a powerful sorceress who had the ability to summon and control demons. Unbeknownst to her family, she also happened to be a super-powered villain, who called herself Desdemona. One night Brandon spied Amelia summoning a demon and flying off on its back to a heist. He followed her in his car and came upon her as she was battling Statesman over the streets of Paragon City. Brandon confronted Amelia and broke her concentration, causing her to lose control of the demon she was controlling. It grabbed her and in the ensuing struggle, flew headlong into the rotors of a nearby news helicopter.
[/ QUOTE ]
Now I know that a few people actually can solo Archvillains (or heroes in this case) but only if they bring a tray full of Break Frees and Lucks, and have IO'ed their characters to death. So obviously, Amelia is one super-powered villain to be able to stand toe-to-toe with Statesman. The same demon breaks from her control, and simply grabs her and throws her into a helicopter. What kind of demon is this?!
Anyways, my point is, how come in the game, the Heroes and Archvillains are ridiculously overpowered, able to take on 8 heroes/villains at once; but in the stories and lore, one punch usually knocks them dead?
(And if the demon is that powerful in the story, I'd hate to see it in-game!)

Ok, I'm not going to go and rant about how farming is ruining the game (even though I totally agree that it is.) But, I do have a small suggestion to slightly curb farming from AE.
Right now, people can make Custom Mobs containing only bosses, therefore making all the enemies bosses, thus providing ungodly XP gain. There should be a mandatory requirement for all custom mobs to contain at least 1 minion, 1 lieutenant, and 1 boss. This would make boss farming impossible, and make farming AE less popular, if only by a little bit.
"But what if my custom mob is only for one Archvillain?"
Well, in the event that you're making a custom mob to hold just an Archvillain or Elite Boss, then I suggest this. If you create a villain group that only contains one enemy type (like, only 1 boss, or only 1 AV) then when you press save, a prompt would appear saying:
"You are about to save a custom group that only contains 1 of [rank]! Random minions, lieutenants and bosses will be placed into your group."
This is how it would work. I create XX villain group, just for my one Archvillain guy. If I didn't make any minions and such, 5th Column enemies would fill in the blanks (Because they cover all level ranges.)
This way, Boss Farms would cease to exist, but you could still make custom groups with just AV's or EB's, with random 5th Column to fill the empty spots. If I didn't create any custom minions for my AV's, then chances are the AV is going to be alone/surrounded by a different group.
I hope this makes sense, sorry if it doesn't. I can attempt to explain better if needed. Tell me what you think, is this a good idea or not? -
[ QUOTE ]
Were I you, I would avoid the AE like the plague until you have gotten yourself familiar with everything that exists outside of it... after all, you have as long as you play the game to play in the AE, but you only get this one experience of re-learning and exploring the (new parts of the) game for the first time.
[/ QUOTE ]
I want you to drill this into your head until you start having nightmares about AE. Seriously, we don't need another AE baby on our hands (FYI, an AE baby is someone who reaches level 50 through AE farms, but knows next to nothing about the really basic stuff)
So, please take the time to read everything. Enjoy the lore of the game, and don't play with "gotta get level 50!" as your only goal. -
So I went ahead and got the CoH Splasher program. I saw that it had a randomizer for login screens, and I thought that would be really cool to use. I gathered my best screenshots from the game, and put them into one folder. I told the CoH Splasher to use all pictures in that folder for the Hero Login screen, and it went through processing the pictures. So, after all that was done, I went to go try it out!
...And it doesn't work?!
I've been trying to fix this for a while now, but I just can't get the infernal program to do its job! Anybody know how to get the randomizer to work? -
Also note that most, if not all mobs in the shadow shard can see through stealth, even super speed. So don't even think about ghosting missions there.
