Give the Paladin a Badge
I don't know, problems would arise over who gets what badge and when. Suppose Team A decided to get the Knight Errant and they went to to search for construction. Likewise, Team B is also hunting for the Paladin, but they want the construction to complete so they can get the [insert badge name here] badge. It could lead to fighting between teams who wanted Knight Errant, and teams who wanted the other badge, if one was introduced, and would make some players angry because they wanted Badge A instead of Badge B.

This is a poor excuse for a good idea. It's all but uncommon to see two or more unloved Paladins roaming Kings Row at almost any given time.

It's similarly all but uncommon to see a lonely Lusca or a cranky Kraken. What's your point?
Adding another badge to Paladin will give him a spike in popularity for about a month, and then we'll be back to square one. Give Giant Monster rewards a boost and maybe we'll get somewhere.

It's two easy merits. Take down the pally because people weren't there when it's being built (for the badge). Heck it's 6 easy merits when there are 3 of them wandering around their favorite High Park park...

/this.
Really, all the GMs need more of a reward. I remember when we'd have 2-3 teams around Lusca on Pinnacle (and multiple luscas) because, sure, it caused debt, but was generally worth the time ... even for those that had the badge already (and this was pre-merits.)
Now, the rewards are a joke. Admittedly, debt's a joke as well, but who wants to burn their patrol XP on that killer ink attack or another tentacle smackdown?
More badges aren't the answer for anyone but badgers - and that only for a short period of time as they rush to get it on their badge collector characters. And when it comes to the Paladin, personally I like that you get rewarded (via badge) for stopping it from getting built, and rewarded (via merits) for stopping its rampage. I agree that a badge for each would do nothing but cause conflict.
What I wouldn't argue with, badge-wise, would be one for getting Paladin, Babbage (either Boomtown or Synapse TF version) and the CW King (Synapse or Psychic version.) Potentially an accolade (doesn't have to grant anything - though a small, perma-gear-pet would be amusing.)
I got an even better idea.
Yes - in my own weird world and my opinion as being an expert of.. well my own mind. Anyhow moving on...
You know what would be REALLY cool?
You defeat the paladin.
As he topples over, he explodes into 1000 *special* little paladin-gears.
You destroy all the *special* paladin-gears.
Then you get a badge for being so freaking awesome.
And you walk away, remembering the awesome carnage of 1000 little robots zapping the jeebus out of your team.
I'd honestly love this!

Only 50 or so of them could be animated at once.

I agree with increasing the rewards for GMs I'm always having to go save low level hero groups that are trying to take down Pali and after I Rad him real good and we defeat him I hear "What I only get two Merits!?!?!" Followed by, "WHERE'S MY BADGE!?!?!"
Heck i'd even be happy if they made 'em tougher and you need 20 heroes to take out a GM like we used to get to beat up on my favorite Sushi Lusca....
Lets see for the Clockwork we have:
Emancipator for killing Psi Clock King.
Knights Errent for preventing the Paladin construction.
Gearsmsher for killing 100 Gears. (+ a Gladiator)
Clockstopper for killing Babbage.
And Synapse's Cohort for taking the Clock King down in the TF.
Do we really need another Clockwork kill badge?

With all the clockwork I've had to deal with in 5 years?
Hell, YEAH.

[/ QUOTE ]Specifically, the game would draw 100 of them, minus the number of players (and players' pets) within your draw distance.

Right, I said the wrong thing there, knowing it when I clicked post.
It's really amazing how you can see the draw distance and quantity when you're in a raid or invasion group. Back up by 50 yards and it's a completely different group of enemies.

I don't think we need another badge. Instead, I think getting Gearsmasher, Knight Errant, and Clockstopper should unlock a Clockwork Winder as a costume piece back detail. Or perhaps just Gear Smasher and Knight Errant should unlock it.
So today, while loitering in KR waiting for a Rikti attack, I joined a team fighting the (completed) Paladin. It took a little while to get eight heroes together but finally the team, ranging from level 15 to 50, defeated him. Best 2 merits I've earned in ages
The Paladin was one of the first GMs I saw when I started playing, and my initial attempt to take him on went like this...
[Broadcast]Enthusiastic Newbie: There's a giant robot walking down the street!
[Broadcast]Some Other Hero: That's the Paladin.
So I attacked it (what can I say, I knew very little about GMs at the time) and following a quick trip to the hospital rethought my strategy...
[Broadcast]Enthusiastic Newbie: Does anyone want to team to take on the Paladin?
[Broadcast]Meh, it's already built. No badge for that.
[Broadcast]Enthusiastic Newbie:
Until today every other attempt has went much the same way.
I know there's a badge for stopping the construction, but maybe there'd be more interest in defeating the completed Paladin if there was a badge for doing so? As far as I know all of the other GMs give badges.
