Quote:Indeed. My country aren't in it this time but i'm closely following the England team... and of course rooting for their opponentsEngland played badly. I watched the game (first one I've watched since I was about 16) and I still wish I could turn the contradicting comentery off.
That match however will be forgotten amongst many other airings that were, just plain dull. On both sides. For all my obligatory rooting for the other side, England should have won that match but for their performance on the field they didn't deserve to, neither did the yanks.
Lacklustre showing from both sides. -
Accents in music are, for the most part, concentrated upon to make sure that they shine through and are noticed, rare though they may be. However, have a listen to songs that are sung in their own language or the music is intentionally designed to imitate the sound and you will notice a huge huge difference. Have listen to some music sang to in Gaelic, or even Celtic songs sang in English.
The common language we all now use and the influence of of the greats in the past is all that is to blame. We don't sound American nor British when we sing but rather sing like we're singing in the English language.
Edit - Im listening to some good old fashioned Gaelic just now and it is far more beautiful than anything that is offered in popular culture. The "Pop" has lost the beautiful and mesmerising component of song and music. What im listening to just now never fails to tilt my head, bring a tear to my eye or rouse me in agreement or rue with what is, was or could have been.
Here's a song i was listening to near the time of writing :http://www.megaupload.com/?d=S45O629G the rest aren't in English so would be less understood. -
Quote:I'd have to disagree with that, i have everything maxed out on a 4850 apart from Ambient Occlusion which doesn't get along with AA on Ati cards and i hate jaggies, rez is 1600x1200. Generally the FPS 30-50 with occasional dips to the low 20's, even on mission maps even in full teams with all level 50 powers flying around i've not seen it go below 30, it seems to be traveling through zones that will dip it down near 20. My CPU is overclocked up the wazoo so perhaps the new settings are more CPU intensive than people realize.I'd say say just do a search for posts by me in the Technical Support section.
The minimum starting point for Ultra Mode graphics are
ATi: RadeonHD 4850
Nvidia: Geforce 9800 GTX / GTS 250
These cards can push Ultra-Mode in low detail at about 1680*1050 with most Socket AM2 Athlon64 / Phenom processors and most Intel Core 2 Duo processors.
I'm sure some would find the FPS that im getting unacceptable, but im more than happy with it. -
Does Fulcrum affect the Creepers? My 'lil Plant/Kin is only 33 atm but i cant say i've noticed siphon power making any difference to their damage. If it doesn't then would someone mind explaining briefly where the farming damage comes from on this combo?

Quote:We did Numina the other day where the leader was 35 which meant we all got exemped down to the same level, the mobs were ranging from 39-42 with the occasional group being 43 in the first mission no matter which setting we tried. In the end we changed leader so we were all 40 apart from the previous leader who got sidekicked to 39.Actually, I thought TFs could not be lowered any more (but you can increase the difficulty)?
I'm not sure if the Imperious TF is a signature TF or not (so would not be less than 50th level) but there are a lot of TFs that are.
This is something they really need to tweak as it makes the level range of the TF rather pointless. -
Quote:I wondered this a week or so ago, but is this infamous Blue Wabbit the same person that always had different coloured animals for toon names years ago on Defiant? One thing that keeps me on EU is the chance to team with Wabbit.
I might get the chance to see if Blue Wabbit stew is as good as ordinary Rabbit stew
If so then i don't think we ever knew each other too well, but we spent a lot of time in the same teams. -
Quote:That pack and the science booster pack are the only things i'm missing from the collection so far. There's a permanent prestige power jump back in the heroes/villains combined edition pack so there is zero point in me buying a jump pack that lasts only 30 days, even if i didn't have the pack that gives the perma i doubt i would ever buy it.Another thing I wanted to discuss, or let out there was something about Jetpacks. Currently in game not only can you purchase Jetpacks from the FBZ, but there are temp power recipe drops for them too. With these two things available, what is the point of the $6 Jetpack you can buy that lasts a month. Why would anyone buy that when it's much cheaper to get one of the first two options. What I would like to see is the Jetpack available for purchase online to be made a permanent Jetpack. Maybe through on another 4 dollar, maybe even make it into a package where you could choose which graphics skin it would have. Thoughts?
It stands out like a sore thumb having something that only lasts for 30 days when every other pack is perma. It's cheaper aye, but at £3 it's a third of the subscription costs for something that potentially could be recurring for little benefit, none when compared to getting the other packs. -
In comparison yeah they do, although i throw all white recipes on the WW for 1 inf (they still sell for the same as at the vendor or slightly less), same with really cheap salvage, badge collecting while farming and doesn't seem to be doing much harm. 600mil yesterday and i don't sell the purples that drop, it seems a bit too easy especially as i spent most of the day doing Marias arc.
-
Thanks, +0/x8 it is then. The inf from the mobs seems to be a drop in the ocean compared to the inf from the drops so far.
-
When i used to farm it was before all this new fangled mission level/mob spawn settings that we have now so i just want to double check if i should be making it quicker by lowering the mobs levels.
Yesterday i was doing it with the mobs set at +2/8 but was wondering whether the drop rates would be the same at even con or -1/x8? It's on an IO'd out elec/shield scrapper so the level doesn't bother it, but if they were lower i'd imagine it would go much quicker. -

Quote:Hmm you're right, the toon is now 50 and the build is complete bar one LotG Rchg still to get for Phalanx fighting with 52.5% rchg atm. I've dropped a fair few purples over the past coupla days including 2 Apocalypse and 2 Ragnarok, so i'll farm a bit for the inf to get the rest of those 2 sets as i'm still not happy with the rchg, i assume no one ever isSo far your build only has 22.5% recharge and no hasten. Have more global recharge and hasten first then decide. I find that around 50% or more with hasten, I'm fairly happy with recharge. Although, my shield toons currently have 90% and 70% respectively.
-
First off, thank you for taking the time to study the various builds and for sharing what you learned here on the forum. Secondly, i come cap in hand to you and the other knowledgeable folks around here with regards to the elec/shield sets.
I'm still trying to get my head around building via sets as during the two years that i played they weren't in the game and in my few brief returns since, the knowledge garnered from them could be summed up with "Ooo + end recovery IO's!" and the same when i saw the Regen ones, for some reason i sold everything else thinking the inf would benefit me at the time... it didn't as i never renewed my sub on any of the occasions, even though i spent some time farming on a fire/kin. So this is a whole new ball game to me.
I've been following the moderate build whilst levelling this toon but am looking for some advice on getting better recharge than it gives. The toon is now 45, so will be needing a respec tomorrow or the next day when it hits 47 and can look at getting the most out of what i have (1.2bil + an unlikely 100mil bid on another LotG rchg). The jist of it is that i have no problem soloing +2/x8 (it just takes far too long due to waiting for powers to recharge) as is, nor even tanking for teams now thanks to buffs, so i want more recharge for my inf than defence. I need some more yes, but a few % could easily be sacrificed from the soft cap to recharge for my needs or how i feel the toon already plays.

The reason i'm giving the build that it currently has is simply so that any of you who feel like giving advice know which enhancements i already have and which numbers i'm starting to feel comfortable with.
One other point is that i'd be fine with dropping super jump, it's nice to be a bit faster yeah but with ninja run and the perma jump pack it's not really necessary. I just cant see where i could get the same defense for so little slots.

I honestly don't see why people think it's so poor performing at low levels, i'm playing elec/sd at the moment as my first main toon after having not played since about 2 years after the game came out (apart from 2 very short spells), i rolled an fm/sd to 31 just before i rolled this one but find elec more fun. I've have been having a blast on it since level 1 up to it's current level of 40. The only IO's it has are 2 x LotG recharge, a steadfast +3% def and a few basic lvl 35 IO's, the rest are SO's, i haven't felt particularly squishy compared to my old scrappers that made it fine to 50 before IO's were in the game.
All in all, so far i'd say i've been even more impressed with this one than i ever was with any of them, although my favourite one previously was kat/sr, and since around 32 i've found myself having to tank quite often for teams and being able to do it effectively. I doubt very much i'd have been able to solo +1 & 2/x8 as easily has this toon has allowed me to.
Perhaps it's just the power set combo i settled on but the amount of fun that is to be had from elec/sd and to a lesser extent (for me) fm/sd more than makes up for any feeling of squishiness people may have in lower levels. -
Quote:Day time UK Virtue roughly 2-300 people online, later as the Americans start getting home from school/work etc the population is high 500's to 600+, usually 600+. Weekends there are usually 3 or 400 on daytime (again, UK time) heading back up to 600+ as the day and evening wear on. Those numbers are blue side, red side has less but i hardly ever play there so couldn't give you any consistent numbers.I'm giving Union another try as i'm loathe to give up my veteran rewards, allthough to be honest it seems only marginally more populated than Defiant. If the numbers on Virtue are indeed in the 100+ bracket[even at off peak times] then i may have to bite the bullet and forfeit my veteran rewards.
When i decided to reactivate i chose against reactivating my EU accounts for the population issues alone, there are simply hardly anyone playing. -

I don't know why i just tried again, but i did, and for some reason it worked this time with my CC
-
This is really starting to annoy me, it's as though NCSoft simply does not want my money. I've had the 24 hour lockout between buying booster packs in the past, which whilst annoying i could live with. But this, this is just plain ridiculous.
I tried to buy the Mac edition during maintenance yesterday and it came back with an error. Fine you'd think, just try after maintenance, so i did... to find i'd been locked out and getting the usual message that you get when you need to try again 24 hours later. So i just tried again and am still locked out, there is 5 times the amount needed in my paypal account so funds aren't the issue. I even just tried it with my credit card only to be hit with "An error has occurred", again there is way more on my CC than needed for the purchase.
Is there a way round this, or do they just not want our money? I'd be fine if i was locked out for having bought something in the past 24hrs but i haven't been able to buy a damn thing. -
The launcher works fine for me, servers are down for another 40 minutes as The_Coming_Storm says though.
-
I had no idea you could make savings this way, i'd wrongly assumed that the codes for the full editions would be used to create a new account, i learn something new every day
Just so i don't keep trying and end up with NCSoft throwing that daily limit on my account, is it normal to get an error when paying during server maintenance?
Edit - it was the maintenance that gave the error, now it's over it's giving me the usual message when you get locked out for 24hrs. Ah well, no Valkyrie set for me today. -
Quote:This is how i've found it mostly too, ((everyone talking like this)) in broadcast and occasionally in teams, but for the most part i rarely come across anyone roleplaying at all, and if i do then it tends to be nothing more than speech binds set up on certain powers.Really? I must on a different Virtue then. All I see is some people ((talking like this)). Weird thing is they tend to say EVERYTHING like that, at least on PuGs. So they become kinda pointless.
Had a few casual RPers on teams as well but nothing major, mainly battle cries and wise-cracks which are easy to get into the spirit of,
Of course I do avoid Pocket D...
The thread certainly took a different direction than i had intended that's for sure. Rather than finding folks on the US servers from the EU to get with i find myself reading a debate about whether servers should be merged or not. Some things never change -
Thanks for all the info Hyperstrike, it helped enlighten me to what everything does.
Now we just need to get them to give some sort of fix to allow AA + AO at the same time without taking a huge hit on ATI cards, I can max everything out in ultra mode @ 1600x1200 but any combination of those two drops FPS to the 20-30 range just standing still in Steel. I ended up just turning off AO and using AA x8 as jaggies annoy the heck outta me. -
I probably shouldn't have put "old" players in the title, i'm one of those that type as i think and well, i was thinking about auld players at the time
I'd love to play alongside any of you, auld players or not, hell i feel like a newbie with all this new fangled stuff in the game
We're out on the lash tonight, or at least starting on it before we head out, but i'd love to team with some of you over the weekend. I've a bunch of toons hero side on virtue in various levels up to 50, current one 32 but playing on villain side atm on a 22 MM. -
Quote:If the Inf cap goes up it increases the prices for the top end items, which in turn may have a detrimental effect on the lower priced ones. The more one has available to spend the more he is willing.I wholeheartedly agree with you. However, nothing you mentioned would be altered in any significant way, shape, or form by having, not having, or changing Inf Caps or price caps.
Also, you can afford them if you find similar ones, sell them, and buy what you want.
The biggest factor hat you and others fail to add in is that the majority of people playing are ones who are the die hards and have been playing for a long time, therefore have vast amounts of inf at their disposal. In a community where 700 people is considered an above average online population you cannot expect many of those to be newer players. How often do you meet someone who has less that 1 or 2 years up to 5 or so vet badges? Not often i'd wager.
The higher people are allowed to hold and bid the worse the economy will become and in turn the less players you'll get joining and sticking with the game. It's already on the very low side. -
Quote:Since i've came back last weekend i have a scrapper to 32 and a DS MM to 22. On the Scrapper it's made 4mil more than it started with, and that's with having a boost from friends at the start. The MM is at 900k in the bank after 22 SO, with having no boost. The caps don't actually do anything besides add minor annoyances. Price caps don't keep items cheap. Price caps don't keep prices down, don't help with availability, and don't allow more people to have more items. Inf caps don't keep people from assembling vast wealth.
If you've just returned to the game and are astonished at these prices then go out into the world, find some items, (wait for the markets to come back online) and then sell your stuff for huge piles of monies.
Now look at the ridiculous prices for IO's under those levels, only people with 50's can afford them. If that's not over inflated i don't know what is, no amount of farming at low levels is going to get you the IO's until you're higher.
