Farming - Which level to set these days?

When i used to farm it was before all this new fangled mission level/mob spawn settings that we have now so i just want to double check if i should be making it quicker by lowering the mobs levels.

Yesterday i was doing it with the mobs set at +2/8 but was wondering whether the drop rates would be the same at even con or -1/x8? It's on an IO'd out elec/shield scrapper so the level doesn't bother it, but if they were lower i'd imagine it would go much quicker.

The drops will be the level of the mobs (up to 50, obviously). So if you farm -1s at 50 then you'll get level 49 IOs (but obviously level 50 Purples).

So if you only care about drops and not Inf then +0x8 makes sense.

Thanks, +0/x8 it is then. The inf from the mobs seems to be a drop in the ocean compared to the inf from the drops so far.

Yea... Level 50 common IOs sell for WAY too much IMO.

In comparison yeah they do, although i throw all white recipes on the WW for 1 inf (they still sell for the same as at the vendor or slightly less), same with really cheap salvage, badge collecting while farming and doesn't seem to be doing much harm. 600mil yesterday and i don't sell the purples that drop, it seems a bit too easy especially as i spent most of the day doing Marias arc.

I know that increasing to +4/+8 reduces the number of quality drops. I have no idea why though.

BUT, I have yet to try lower than +2/+8...truthfully the thought never occurred to me.

I would be interested to knwo the results.

At +2/+8 I get about 3 or more purples per week...usually...and IF I do a lot of farming.

These days though, I barely farm.

+4/8 will be significantly harder to kill and will take considerably longer... that's the reason for farming 0/8, you can kill them MUCH faster so you can kill many more in a given period of time.

What the best ratio of mob level to kill speed may be depends on your individual character... try a run at +2/8 and another at 0/8 with Herostats running and compare which one was better on an earnings/hour basis.

Supposedly, level does not affect the chance that mobs will drop things as long as they're -3 or higher. It does affect the level of things dropped though. Farming a level 49 mission means the mobs are usually half 49 and half 50, so the recipes you get will be half 49 and half 50. Farming anything higher means all level 50 recipes. Many level 49 recipes sell for significantly less than level 50, and they move slower in the Market. The values of purples is higher than the value of all other income combined (recipes, Salvage, Enhancements, and Inf from defeats), and it seems that's what you're interested in since you keep those, so your best option is farming at -1 or +0. I've found that farming -1 mobs isn't significantly faster, since my farming chars have enough Accuracy to hit up to +2 mobs 95% of the time, and the extra 11% damage doesn't make enough of a difference. So when farming for drops, I go for +0.

Goodbye and thanks for all the fish.
I've moved on to Diablo 3, TopDoc-1304

Just pointing out that you're way, way off on this. The prices that that white (common io) recipes sell on WW is less than what the vendors will pay. Counting in the 10% fee and looking at just the last 5 sales, you're losing 18% (Damage recipes)-84% (Tohit Debuff) of the vendor sale price by doing it that way.

I'll back stargeek on this one. I drop my recipies on the market for 1 also, but for a damage that vendors for over 100k, I typically only take home 65k. But it does vary. From time to time I make more than vendor price. That's rare though.
