Architect edition
As long as you have not previously applied an Architect Edition retail code to your account, then Yes, you will get the Free Time and perks. I've seen Architect Edition for as little as $9.99 USD, so yes it would be financially beneficial to do this.
As said, if you haven't had an AE edition (or any of the other retail boxes...other than the GR pre-purchase) applied to your account, then yes you get a free month with the code.
However, no you can't get the booster pack for yourself and give someone else the account code. It all gets applied to your account at once.
On the other hand, the older retail boxes including the AE and GvE editions can often be found over in the "el cheapo" racks at local gameshops/best buy/etc for much, much less than even the $15.00 value of the free month. So, if you want to give it as a gift, just go out and find a couple of copies and give them to friends....lure them into the game

I can't add a second one of any of those codes, which was the point being made.

NOT correct. If you haven't applied an AE box code, you can apply an AE box code. You can then apply one of any other box codes available as well. I have City of Heroes, City of Heroes Collector's Edition, City of Villains, Good Versus Evil, Mac Edition, Architect Edition... Am I brain farting on a box set other than villains Collector's? Anyway, I have all of those applied to my account, and I got the free month from each of them.

Oh well, next time I'll get one for the cyborg pack =]
The rule of thumb, as given to me by support, is if it adds goodies to your account, you can apply it. If those are already there, it won't do any good.
Example, I found a bunch of old editions of the game, regular boxes, collector's and bootleg editions etc. I went to apply the ones I didn't already have, having never applied a normal CoH code to my accounts I figured it would work, but it wouldn't allow me to because I wouldn't gain anything in game from it.
I still have a bunch of unopened boxes and unused codes, I should hand 'em out to friends or something heh
I had no idea you could make savings this way, i'd wrongly assumed that the codes for the full editions would be used to create a new account, i learn something new every day
Just so i don't keep trying and end up with NCSoft throwing that daily limit on my account, is it normal to get an error when paying during server maintenance?
Edit - it was the maintenance that gave the error, now it's over it's giving me the usual message when you get locked out for 24hrs. Ah well, no Valkyrie set for me today.

Am I right in thinking that if I buy the architect edition from the NC store, I'll get a month of game time and either the magic or cyborg booster, for less than buying each seperately? Or does the game time only apply to new accounts?
And in either case, could I give the account key (and month playtime) to someone as a gift, but keep the booster code for myself?
