Okay, I've been plotting (in my own way) how to slot the click PBAoEs (Fire Sword Circle and Combustion) and also the PBAoE aura (which doesn't need recharge, so I can slot it slightly differently).
I'm using a spreadsheet of my own devising. Values over around 100% (for schedule A) hit the 95% ED cap.
This is what I've come up with so far:
Code:Click PBAoEs best defense, using Eradication and Cleaving Blow: enhancement acc dmg end rech 30 Erad a/d/r/e 15.2 15.2 15.2 15.2 30 Erad a/d/r 17.4 17.4 0 17.4 30 Erad d/r 0 21.8 0 21.8 35 CB a/r 22.9 0 0 22.9 35 CB d/r 0 22.9 0 22.9 35 CB d/e 0 22.9 22.9 0 . Totals 55.5 100.2 38.1 100.2
Code:Click PBAoEs best endurance reduction enhancement acc dmg end rech 30 Erad a/d/r/e 15.2 15.2 15.2 15.2 30 Erad a/d/r 17.4 17.4 0 17.4 30 Erad d/r 0 21.8 0 21.8 50 Obl a/d/r/e 18.6 18.6 18.6 18.6 50 Fury a/d/r/e 18.6 18.6 18.6 18.6 50 MS d/e/r 0 21.2 21.2 21.2 . Totals 69.8 112.8 73.6 112.8
For the toggle, Blazing Aura (using Eradication, Scirocco's Dervish, and Multi-Strike):
Code:Toggle PBAoE best endurance reduction enhancement acc dmg end rech 30 Erad a/d/r/e 15.2 15.2 15.2 15.2 30 Erad a/d/r 17.4 17.4 0 17.4 30 Erad d/r 0 21.8 0 21.8 35 SD a/d/e 18.4 18.4 18.4 0 35 SD d/e 0 22.9 22.9 0 50 MS a/d/e 21.2 21.2 21.2 0 . Totals 72.2 116.9 77.7 54.4

My little Justice Tanker is Stone/SS, is that smashy enough?

Quote:Earthquake cast by Possessed Scientists is not only an auto-hit defense debuff, it's an auto-hit unresistable defense debuff, as my testing shows.Are there still any ugly Thorns at level 50? or do you outlevel most of the really nasty things, the way you do with DE?
I don't know if Earthquake cast by high-level COT works the same way.
It will trash a character's defense -- even one with 95% DDR.
But that probably makes it a moot point for your purposes, since DDR doesn't protect against it. -

Quote:Uh...what?Neither was the post that nethergoat left about orange salvage, but let me guess, youre stuck up his tail like some others to only point out my post. i could care less if it was helpful, it wasnt meant to be. The first one that i left was, though, in case your ignorance missed it. Thank you.
So, let me try to get this straight -- are you saying that you made a comment showing you understand clustering in random distribution, and then a comment claiming that clustering is irrelevant to the thread, and you stand by both comments? And that you meant to be helpful, and then meant to be unhelpful and sarcastic, and also you care enough to keep replying, but you want it to be known that you don't care?
Are you trying to demonstrate randomness through your posting? -
Quote:Also, typing \k will open a window showing each of your costumes in miniature and you can click one to select it. Generally the backslash command opens a lot of menu options you can look through and play with.Additionally, to change the costume you are wearing type /cc # into the chat window. # should be replaced with the slot number, 0 is your starting costume and 1-4 are your alternates (subject to unlocking the slots as Chad mentioned).
Also, not to nitpick, but when you say "buku" do you mean "beaucoup?" -
Quote:I have a complaint about this.I'll have to disagree, the STF is probably my favorite TF in the game. Yes, it's hard... it's supposed to be hard, it's supposed to be the hardest TF blueside to challenge high end level 50 characters.
I always hear people talking smack about how they run this TF easily, and acting like it's a farm mission or something. I've been on it a few times with pick-up groups who expressed this attitude, swaggering in like they know what they're doing, expensive set IO bonuses showing in their information tabs.
This weekend we never even made it to Lord Recluse.
After finally lurching past Dr. Aeon with heavy casualties, we faced the Recluse's four signature-villain associates. Efforts to pull or isolate one were laughably bad; the response of the players was worse. Despite knowing we couldn't take on more than one -- and after it had been amply demonstrated in case there were any doubters -- each time we got more than one pulled, players would struggle to fight on, burning all their inspirations, after the retreat warning had been given and some of us had already retreated. In some cases one or two heroic souls went all-out against ALL FOUR AVs, burning up inspirations and temp powers and consuming long-recharge rezzes on a sure loss. One of our Defenders went afk for a shower during the fights. Some people dropped permanently and others crashed and had to return after file-checking.
It was a long-drawn out disaster (we quit shortly before the four-hour mark).
I don't mind it being hard, and I don't mind people being newcomers to the TF. I don't even mind trying and losing in good faith. But please don't act like you're God's gift to the Statesman Task Force, some kind of expert who regards it as routine, and then spend the TF asking what you should be doing (and then not doing it), or worse, afk, or panicking and not trying to cooperate with the team's strategy. -
Quote:Thread topic has three words: Purple Drop ChangeI once got 7 Nevermelting Ice pieces in a BM farm, too. What's that got to do with purples since that's the topic of this thread?
Discussion has been on purples, drop rates, and whether that's changed. Your example of 7 Nevermelting Ices is a good one, showing that clusters of drops are not necessarily evidence of a change in drop rates. Thanks for contributing meaningfully about how humans interpret or misinterpret random clustering! -
Quote:On Guardian I respond if I'm on a character of the appropriate level, but usually someone has beaten me to the punch. It's not often one gets a chance to be the hero for real live players.It used to be that when you sent out a broadcast like "Who left their L48 Malta by the train?" generally either the original owners would fix the problem, or some high level Samaritan would take care of 'em. Sometimes I was the Samaritan.
I don't know if that still happens, and it probably varies from server to server. -
Yes. I love the game and respect those who work on it, but Mrs. Johnson's 3rd grade class could have done a more consistent job with the power descriptions.

Quote:In fact, some actual math has been done (courtesy of poster Walleye) here breaking out how good this bonus was (apparently the second-best after the Steadfast and Gladiator unique 3% defense IOs, if I am reading his results correctly, and you could stack it, unlike uniques).Not overpowered? It only cost one slot to get a pretty sweet defense bonus. That's pretty dang powerful. What's the usual requirement for a bonus like that? 4-5 slots? That's 3-4 slots going into other powers for more results. It was a sweet ride, I won't deny I used it to my advantage. But it's hard to be surprised they would need to adjust it.

As I understand it, an enemy faction can have "good drops" or "bad drops" only in so far as the salvage type (tech, arcane, or mixed) is desirable; no enemy minion drops more frequently than a minion from a different group, in other words.
The OP is doing lots of Energy damage, which Freaks are vulnerable to, which has a bearing on how fast he can down Freaks (although calculating that isn't my strong suit).
Also, if I understand farming for drops (as opposed to merit farming), finishing a mission isn't relevant; most farmers prefer to reset the mission and run it again. Running Oro arcs for merits, of course, would make it desirable to complete missions (and as noted, there are some nice Freakshow arcs). -
I really wanted to cram Taunt into this build for the Mocking Beratement bonuses. If I could make myself drop something six-slotted, I would. But it would have to be six-slotted; once I start getting Mocking's bonuses, I find myself unable to turn down that lovely recharge bonus for the last slot(s).

Thanks for the opinions so far!
Quote:Interesting. However, still not ED-capped recharge, even if I slot top-level IOs (looks like 84%). That would make about a 3-second difference in the recharge time of Build Up...but get me 2% damage bonus globally. I wonder which is more effective.Level 30: Build Up -- Rec'dRet-ToHit/Rchg(A), Rec'dRet-ToHit(31), AdjTgt-ToHit/Rchg(34), AdjTgt-Rchg(37)
Quote:Sailboat, I couldn't tell for certain, but are the 6 slots in Blazing Aura and Fire Sword Circle 6 Eradication, or 3 or 4 Erad with some other set IOs? You mention 3 Erad + frankenslotting for Combustion, but don't specifiy for the other two.
If it is a full set of Eradication in those two powers, that's a really bad idea
Quote:But note that the Kismet +Acc does NOT work that way; in a toggle like CJ, you have to have the power toggled on to get the bonus.
Sure! But I have to replace it with one-slotted Fire Blast or one-slotted Ring of Fire (assuming I want to keep Fireball). My assumption is that a one-slotted immob or blast will also suck, and at least Melt Armor will occasionally increase the damage of one of my six-slotted attacks. But I'm willing to listen to arguments in favor of the other two powers. -
I dunno technical stuffs but I like the idea.

Thanks! Yeah, should have mentioned this is a 60-month "City Traveler" build.
Pairing up the two Steadfasts-- of course. It's not only a good idea, it sounded so familiar I went and looked at one of my other builds -- and I've done it before myself, on a /Dark Armor Scrapper, who also needed the -knb. Heh.
Your Build Up: Rectified Reticle suggestion sounds good too -- but I'd need another slot freed up from somewhere if I want to keep Build Up's recharge near the ED cap; Rectified Reticle only gives 16% recharge out of the 2 slots. If I put a 50 recharge IO into the lest slot I'm still only at 58.4% recharge. I guess I'd have to take that spare slot that I've been saving for a Performance Shifter, Miracle, or Numina Endurance IO. -
Yeah, they're fragile enough that they don't provide a permanent buff or even close (which is appropriate, I think, so that they're not depriving newcomers of something really good for 48 months).
I usually go with whichever matches my character's focus on defense or resistance.
There are a few situations where they're handy -- sometimes you can stick them around a corner and let them eat the alpha. Also, characters with a Taunt aura can sometimes keep the pet alive a lot longer unless the enemies are using AoEs. -
Is this happening on a specific server or something? I sometimes see people complaining that the game is dead (usually 30 seconds after spamming "LFT" in Broadcast -- I guess a full team of power-levelers didn't jump to pick you up, eh?), but I hardly ever see anyone doing what the OP describes. But there are only a few servers I can be said to frequent.

Here's yet another Fire/Fire/Pyre proposed build. Going for typed defense, but not the soft cap. This is a general-purpose PVE build.
Don't have Mids', so this is from the Suckerpunch planner output, modified in a word processor.
As is common, ignore the slot levels; had trouble replacing them in the planner and so I just cut and pasted in Word, then further abbreviated for your convenience; I don't think I did anything illegal slotwise.
----------------------------------------------------------
+ Built with SuckerPunch's Online Planner v5.0
+ http://planner.cohtitan.com/planner
+----------------------------------------------------------------
Archetype: Tanker
Primary: Fiery Aura
Secondary: Fiery Melee
+----------------------------------------------------------------
01: Scorch => 4 slots (Kinetic Combat, +3.75 S/L)
01: Fire Shield => 5 (Reactive Armor, +1.25 S/L/E/N), (Steadfast P +3% Def)
02: Fire Sword => 6 (KC, +3.75 S/L)
04: Healing Flames => 5 (Doctored Wounds)
06: Fly => 2
08: Combustion => 6 (3 Erad 3.13 E/N, then frankenslotted)
10: Blazing Aura => 6 (Erad 3.13 E/N)
12: Plasma Shield => 5 (RA, 1.25 S/L/E/N), (Steadfast P -KNB)
14: Swift => 1
16: Combat Jumping => 1 (Karma KNB or +Kismet +6% to-hit or LOTG 7.5%)
18: Health => 1
20: Stamina => 4 (or 3 and throw the other into Health for Numina/Miracle)
22: Build Up => 3 (2 Adj Targeting plus a recharge)
24: Boxing => 4 (KC, 3.75 S/L)
26: Fiery Embrace => 3
28: Fire Sword Circle => 6 (Erad 3.13 E/N)
30: Tough => 4 (RA, 1.25 S/L/E/N)
32: Weave => 4 (LOTG incl. 7.5%)
35: Incinerate => 6 (KC, 3.75 S/L)
38: Greater Fire Sword => 6 (KC, 3.75 S/L)
41: Char => 1
44: Melt Armor => 1
47: Fire Ball => 6 (5 Ragnarok + a triple to fill in)
49: Temperature Protection => 1 (SP -KNB)
This will result in about 35.5% S/L defense and 26% E/N defense, I believe.
Concerns:
Slot-starved.
No Hasten.
Low Global Accuracy bonuses. If I put a low-level -KNB IO into Temp Protection at 49, will I have it when exemplaring down to lower levels, even though Temp protection is not active? If so, I can probably slot the Kismet global to-hit into CJ.
No Burn. I wanted it for AVs, but the slots were hard to find and I'd lose S/L defense.
thanks for comments and suggestions. -
In particular, frankenslotting or semi-frankenslotting (going for the 3rd or 4th set bonus in a set and then frankenslotting in triples or quads to maximize enhancement) will likely result in some accuracy almost unavoidably.
One of my current projects slotted this way, winding up with 40-60 accuracy baseline in the various attacks....and 5 sets with the +9 global acc bonus (for +45)...and one Purple set (for +15 bonus). +60 global acc bonus is very nice when added to a moderate baseline acc enhancement. -

Quote:Hey Smurphy. Can't speak for anyone else, but recently I was on an ITF with...let me dig into memory here...I'm curious and don't plan on asking your reasoning nor arguing your opinion...
...but what do you and other people consider a "low damage" team?
Inv/SS Tanker
Shield/Axe Tanker
Dark/Shield Brute
?/? Brute
Empathy/Dark Defender
?/? Defender (maybe Kin?)
Some kind of Arachnos Widow or Soldier who quit partway through, iirc
Necro Mastermind of some sort
Admittedly we had some difficulty coordinating (that's a nice way of saying "some players completely ignored suggestions, advice, and desperate pleas"), but overall, we ended up unable to finish the ITF. We got to Romulus, but it took us 3-4 prolonged efforts to finish him, and we accidentally did so out of line-of-sight of the healing Nictus, so then we had to fight it. Nobody had any nukes or Shivans. We tried ganging up on the thing and felt it was healing too well, so we tried staying waaaay back and pasting it with...Defender ranged attacks and some Nemesis Staffs from the four Tankers and Brutes. Eventually we talked the Dark/Shield brute into soloing the Nictus with some taunted-in enemies to fuel Against All Odds and Soul Drain while we stayed back and plinked. Even that didn't wear down the Nictus's healing ability.
Interestingly, to me anyway, some Brute players can apparently only think about Fury; the Brute in question didn't seem to have even been aware that AAO and Soul Drain benefit from multiple enemies surrounding him; at first he pooh-poohed the idea on the grounds that he "already had Fury built up, so what's the point?"
Through much of the TF my Inv/SS Tanker (who is decently slotted for damage, sporting Rage-aided six-slotted Jab, Haymaker, Knockout Blow, Footstomp, Hurl, and four-slotted Boxing) was noticing that his orange damage numbers often seemed to be bigger than the gray numbers other players were putting up, which perhaps was an omen of evil portent.
Looking at two grown-up brutes and an Arachnos of some sort, MM pets and a Kin, if I am remembering rightly, I wouldn't have called that a "low damage" team particularly. But it was painfully slow at grinding down Romulus even when he wasn't being healed, and it ultimately failed to get the job done -- despite surviving. It was a damage issue of some sort.
No merits that night! -
"Dispatch, this is Officer Jones. He's over by the kiddie play area. No, he's just watching. How do I know...? He's wearing a shirt that SAYS "Stalker" on it. Plain as day. It's like he's daring us to do something."
"Yes, I'll wait for backup. SWAT? Great! This jerk'll never know what hit him."
