Which powers 'Exempt' certain travel powers?
I think there are several Traps powers that don't work while flying, I'll double check later.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

From Earth Control, Stalagmites (the AoE stun) requires you to be on the ground to use.
From Earth Assault, it's usually the ground strike attacks. I think Fissure, Tremor and Stone Spears might be the ones that require you to be grounded. Also, yes Hurl Boulder requires you to be on the ground.
Footstomp, of course, does not work while flying.
"You don't lose levels. You don't have equipment to wear out, repair, or lose, or that anyone can steal from you. About the only thing lighter than debt they could do is have an NPC walk by, point and laugh before you can go to the hospital or base." -Memphis_Bill
We will honor the past, and fight to the last, it will be a good way to die...
"It's a scrapper. If he can't handle it, no one can." -BrandX
"Mastermind Pets operate...differently, and aren't as easily fixed. Especially the Bruiser. I want to take him out behind the woodshed and pull an "old yeller" on him at times." - Castle
Also, some powers only have to be activated while on the ground, but you can fly afterward. Hotfeet, for example.

Assassin's Strike requires you to be grounded and stationary.
Cascade, level 50 Blaster (NRG/NRG since before it was cool)
Mechmeister, level 50 Bots / Traps MM
FAR too many non-50 alts to name
[u]Arcs[u]
The Scavenger Hunt: 187076
The Instant Lair Delivery Service: 206636
IIRC, Gun Drone requires you to be in contact with the ground, while Build Snowman requires you to not be flying.
Plant and Storm summons work while flying.
Hmph, means me changing to Combat jumping on my Dom then. Ah well.
I guess standard code rant applies, but limitations like that are a minor yet persistant irritant. If anything, you should get a warning in the power description, such as 'You must be grounded to activate this power' etc. Because it IS present in some powers, yet not in others.

This may be a fantasy game, but sometimes it's nice to see that extra level of thought as to how things would work in our real world...provided there were also super-powered being running around.
Veridian Dynamics. Mistakes. We all make them. But sometimes mistakes lead to great discoveries. Mistakes are how we learn and grow... so we can do amazing things.
When you think about it, shouldn't you be thanking us for making mistakes? Veridian Dynamics. We're sorry. You're welcome.
For powers that don't actually involve an animation that has one directly contacting the terrain (i.e. punching the ground for Stone Spears or stomping the ground for Foot Stomp), I could see more of a rant about coding as the anti-flying restriction combined with the animation used to activate the power would not logically follow. But honestly, I appreciate the realism involved in needing to be in contact with the ground as a requisite to effectively utilize most of the powers mentioned in this thread.

My beef is with Grounded from /ElA. PITA! Taking out the logbow flyers is a bit rough...

I don't think you can use Shield Charge or Lightning Rod while flying.
It may be because I'm drunk right now but...
Flight pool tier 9: Levitation (float on a chunk of ground. Fulfills all those 'need to be on the ground except for summoned intities' ^^)
I'd take it on my Earth/Psy dom just because it involves loating rocks.
Started me off thinking, as just got Hover on my lowbie Stone/Stone Dom and found, to my extreme annoyance, that Stone Spears doesnt actually work with hover. At all.
I was miffed for two reasons; 1) its a key part of the attack chain and 2) the description says only that it has to be used agains ENEMIES on the groun. Nothing whatsoever about ME having to be earthbound.
Im wondering now if Hurl Boulder from the same set is bound by the same restriction, and if any of my Primary (stone) are bound by that? If so, looks like I'll need to waste a vet-spec to switch to something useful like Leaping or Teleportation.
Are there any other sets/power choices that basically exempt you from certain travel powers?
example; Stone armour (usually) makes teleportation the only valid choice, heavily penalising you for taking anything else.
