Katana Gun powerset

I'm pretty sure most of us have seen that from the "City of hero" Trailer. I think they should use that for a future AT. Like the Melee/support thing people have been hoping for. Well, SOME have been hoping for.

Here I thought you meant a gun that fired katanas. I was like "YES!"

That kind of killed my enthusiasm for this suggestion, really.

If they do make a melee support AT that power would actually be pretty cool. Adding some katana moves as well as single pistol moves into the powerset. The idea came up when watching the "City of hero" trailer. I'm not talking about this happening anytime soon but I mean IF they make a Melee support AT

It could work great for a Dominator Assault set. As it is I don't think Dominators have really any Natural attack sets, so something combining a sword and gun [maybe not a gunblade as Squaresoft might sue] could make a good set for them.

Eh, but doesn't the pistol/katana guy also use martial arts flippy kicks?

Yeah, he's pretty much an EAT that uses pistols, katana, martial arts and super reflexes in combination. You're probably not getting that.

Well I didn't mean all his powers, I just mean the idea of using a katana and a pistol as a set. Have some range attacks and some melee. I mean seeing what they did for the dual pistols animation they can make a pretty beast AoE attack for the set. That involves slashes and gunshots

But yeah I didn't mean a gunblade like in final fantasy.

Well in order for it to work it would have to be its own joint weapon. So it would have to be all new sword animations and what not so you don't have to redraw after each different attack. So you take the gun out when you take the sword out.

in other words... it would have to be something like the gunblade from FF. if not it would require redraw. the closest thing i can think of in game that we have now are Nemesis. and they have shooting and melee attacks that come from a gun with a big ol' bayonet on it.

No, the OP is asking for a set which uses a katana. And a gun. Which is certainly doable: restrict the gun to a single hand (eg, gun always in left hand, which I believe is how Spark Blade does it in the video) and the katana to the other hand. Then, any ranged animations for the set use only the gun hand, and any melee animations use only the katana hand.

No I mean as creating a new weapon. Where you have a sword in one hand and a gun in the other. Pretty much counting it as one weapon so that you take out both at the same time

being honest i was thinking about the same tihng.. but it wont work =[. unless you mix the melee and range of the attacks into an assault powerset for primary and have a defence for secondary... that wuld work. so itd be assault/defence...(hopefully the assaults are stronger then a dominator but weaker then a blaster)

a blaster is in the back blowing **** up, not getting hit. now if u wanna be on the front lines with melee, its a lot better to have defence. i no ur thinking how about the dominator? they get controling affects

I never said blaster. If you read my first post I was talking about this powerset being possibly used for a possible future AT. Melee/support but someone else on the thread made a good point saying this can make a good dom set as well and I think so too.

thats what i was wondering and trying to get him to say. that would be doable now.

The concept isn't out of the realm of possibility for this game. The big question is what AT should it fall under. For example if you'll look at the Blaster AT the Energy secondary set is a melee powerset. I'm sure if the devs wanted they could put something together.

It will never be it's own AT unless the devs decide to do it as a one off Epic AT like VEATs or HEATs. Your more likely to see it added to one of the pre-existing AT's

I could see it fitting into a couple of AT's, It's just how they would be balanced depending on which is the primary.
