Eh, this is a pet peeve of mine, didn't mean to disrupt your thread. I'd use the term "running" to say "I'm running +4 x8," or, if I wanted to emphasize the repetition, "grinding." "Farming" typically means minimizing your risk and maximizing your reward per unit of time, and +4 is not usually the best for either the risk or reward part of that formula.
Certainly there's nothing wrong with wanting to be able to muck about at +4 difficulty, as a design goal. Stone might well be the strongest defensively for that, although it will never be the optimal damage dealer. You could try a strongly-built Shield Tanker for that, maybe? -
What color is the powertray icon? The day job power has a yellow icon.
-
Nobody farms at +4. +4 is for power-leveling, or just for fun, but not for "farming."

My first 50 was Ice/Storm. She's sitting parked, slotted with a weird mix of HOs and badly-thought-out IOs (she was 50 before IOs were around, and I was just running Hami raids and shoving HOs anywhere they would fit...later I added IOs to places I didn't happen to have HOs). So she'll need massive reworking.
But she was fun.... -
I really like Hasten for helping speed up minefields AND your next use of Rain of Arrows.

Quote:And the non-Praetorian DE have been missing me all these years because they LIKE me?My bad, it's 64%, not 68%.
But you're not right about it being just lvl 50 Praetorian DE.
It's all DE.
Can you substantiate this claim somehow? Please don't take it personally, but we see a LOT of offhand misinformation tossed out on the forums, and I'd like to pin this down one way or the other.
Is it possible that you've been hit a lot because of quartz emanators and misinterpreted the cause? -
While I do like hover, perhaps on a trip-mine user some of the advantage of hovering would be lost versus staying on the ground and leading them onto mines/caltrops.

I'm curious as to why you'd pick Granite (which is what I assume you're getting at when you say stone "and the slow recharges that comes along with it" as the priamry for this thought experiment, as it it hands-down the worst primary for mob-killing.
Although I agree that one will see people on the forums plugging their pet favorites, I think it's fairly objectively clear that /Fire is intended to be the most damaging secondary because damage is its "secondary effect." I feel it lives up to that (as far as Tanker mods go, anyway), so I'll say Fire, followed by Super Strength and then perhaps Mace and Axe for AoE. I guess I should put Elec in there somewhere, but I do agree it lacks a little something in the boss-killing, single-target aspect (and rightly so; otherwise it would be Too Much Awesome). -
Quote:Long ago, before respeccing her differently, I had a Fire Tanker who hovered all the time, but had to land to plant a Burn patch. My rationalization was that she was so hot that whenever she touched the ground, it burst into flames.Like, I'm not sure why burn needs to be on the ground if various enemy fire patches can be airborne. Or why hotfeet works in the air, but you have to be on the ground to turn it on.
In the end, you just get used to the idiosyncrasies and have fun with it. The list isn't really all that long. -
Here's a good resource.
I personally recommend the work of @The Cheshire Cat (search for other works by this person in the Architect mission screen, there's one in Dark Astoria that's great and creepy) but anything on that page is bound to be among the best you'll find in Architect. -
Holy crap, you can handle x8 on Dual Origin enhancers and you're UNHAPPY with the build???
-
So, let me see if I understand this correctly:
- You've played the game 81 months
- You generally have no problems defeating foes, even other archvillains
- You defeated the other AVs in this particular fight
- You've beaten this particular task force many times
...And in all that time of rolling over everything in your path, you've met this one critter on one Task Force you couldn't defeat, and suddenly you want to quit and take up another game?
No, I'm sorry, I got that wrong. You said you HAVE defeated Ghost Widow before. Many times.
So it's just this one foe, this one time?
Do you always have to win everything to be happy? -
Quote:Just hit them over the head with one of these. That was the reason for why there's no Talsorian Hammer (now renamed Vanguard). Now, ignoring the fact that that description also makes the Vanguard Bow not work (flexible force field bow arms?), there could still be a Vanguard mace

You've confused the rioting with the mauling. Skiers riot (apparently -- I would have thought "gripe while sipping mulled cider" better described it), beasts maul.

If you're looking for a suggestion of what to buy...has anyone compiled a list of the IO recipes you CANNOT get with Alignment merits? Is there some known pattern, or would one have to look for each one and note whether it's available or not?
It seems to me that if a given recipe is out of supply at a given level, zero for sale, one could fairly easily drop an A-merit or two if one really, really wanted the recipe. But the ones thnat don't appear in the A-merit list can only be "forced" using the harder-to-acquire, more expensive original reward merits.
If you are looking to be a middleman for mid-level recipes, maybe those are the ones least obtainable. -
Really? Because my non-softcapped defense builds usually seem to shrug off the death drains, even in large numbers. I do get drained occasionally, but that seems consistent with "die rolling;" it's more frequent on the lower-defense characters. But, for example, my Fire Tanker had 0 defense and her endurance flatlined all the time when defeating Carnies (it was a crisis!); now that she's raised her defense to 32%, she only occasionally sees her end bar dip a bit when masses of Carnies scream and vanish around her. If they had a big acc or to-hit bonus I'd think it would be worse.
-
Personally, I went with 32.5, but I went with typed defenses (32.5 to s/l/e/n, less to fire/cold).

I liked Fire/Dark myself. You can pair the dual heals, and if you really want, the dual end-stealing powers, although skipping one saves a power pick. The lack of AoE in Dark is somewhat offset by Blazing Aura and Burn. Lastly, you can eventually stack Soul Drain (and occasionally Fiery Embrace) with Burn. There's a lot of debate as to whether Burn+FE or Shield Charge+AAO is a better weapon of mass destruction over time; by adding the fantastic Soul Drain to the mix, you'll at least be wielding the nastiest possible Burn (for Tankers anyway).
Don't forget to occasionally punch them with your Tier 1 attack for the Bruising debuff while they burn. -
I thought the idea was that the new players were supposed to be motivated to stay long enough to get those rewards. If they're planning on leaving before then, the idea of the rewards as incentive isn't working on them anyway...and why should the Devs please people who are planning to leave? People who lose interest quickly will lose interest quickly no matter what, in my experience.

Well, remember when the previous incarnate content was made available, and Oroborous was inundated with stutter lag for days? That's...that's all gone, isn't it? I expect this will decline too, once the great mass of pre-Incarnate 50s has run all the different WTFs once or twice.

Running my Energy/Energy Blaster solo, with knb, stuns and massive blaps in my secondary, I've had a lot of trouble with some bosses (Arachnos, for one particularly nasty example, with their defense debuffs, stuns, knockback, holds, and massive 800-point attacks). Those guys just do not go down fast enough for safety and they shrug off my controls. Multiple "awakens" ensue.
My Archery/Devices Blaster might have had the same trouble the first time I tried to take one of those bad boys down solo. But then I would have made a pile of mines, a caltrop patch, and a safety mine or two behind that, and tried again. And won.
I haven't had much experience on Blasters. Admittedly I may be "doing it wrong," but in that situation, Devices seems better than the very popular /Energy. -
You can e-mail them to your own global. When that fills up, you can log onto a seldom-used toon and pull them out of e-mail and store them on that toon. Imperfect, but it gives you some more room.
