I agree that anniversary badges should be global badges so they are awarded to the account rather than an individual character. Those badges are an indicator of how long the player has been playing the game just like vet badges.

Of course if your account wasn't active during the anniversary then you still shouldn't be able to get those badges.

Then they should quit making such useful things like the market slash command vet rewards. The fact that seven year vets are the only people that get this is a joke. And whoever made that decision is an idiot.

edit: Your second line is nothing more than semantics. They are being thanked for spending money. What you said is nothing more than spin, and it is dishonest.

Some days fridge logic grips me, and I think of all the times people have told me how many-year veterans are no longer the target demographic and that I should take breaks or leave the game entirely. And then I remember this, and chuckle to myself. Yeah, every time I think they're finally done making really useful things ever more exclusive, they add something like this, and I'm reminded of exactly how strong a grip this game has on its long-term veterans.

But, no, buying back lost months is pointless, to the extreme that it makes veteran rewards unnecessary and obsolete. Besides, I'd much rather have the Vanguard pack, since those are items I'll never see otherwise.

I'm a 32 month vet. I'd love to have been playing back when the game went live, but I wasn't. I'd love to have the anniversay badges from back then, but I don't. I'd love to have a shot at get the 5th Columnist Gladiator Badge, but I seemingly never will.

Love to, but I do not meet the requirements for them. Should someone who served in the military from 1995 - 2000 be eligible to wear a Korean War era medal? Should someone who served in the military but never saw combat be able to 'earn' the Purple Heart? Should a boy who first joined the Boy Scouts in the 6th Grade be able to wear badges associated with being a Cub Scout?

No, and these event & veteran badges that vex you so are no different.

Yes, I think there should be other ways to get a /market power. Yes, I think there should be ways for newer toons to earn the 5th Columnist gladiator badge. And yes, I would love to be able to have a non-combat redcap pet on my toon RIGHT NOW. But none of these things are game-breakers; they're rewards being offered to people who've done the TIME.

Maybe they will offer some of the vet-only rewards as accolades you can get some other way. Maybe they'll add some of them into later Incarnate materials. But realistically, it does a disservice to the people that actually have been playing the game for 81 months to think I or anyone else deserves the badges assocated with being an 81 Month vet without having paid and played the game for 81 months.

If you want the benefits, make intelligent arguments about why and how this should be done. If you just want the badges, stop. Just... stop.

I agree with this to an extent, but partially disagree based on having to miss several periods of game time due to deployments. Honestly though, I've not really thought much about it, and can't see bringing myself to expect special treatment. I brought this up more as a case in point of a circumstance that is out of a person's hands.

The rest of the stuff, I don't care about.

The market is at most 2 minutes away from wherever you happen to be. It is a convenience and does not add any additional functionality. It is an appropriate award, though it is one that I will probably never reach.

And that's fine because I can just fly to the freakin' market if I need to sell anything.

Just because you can't figure out how to make it incredibly useful, that doesn't mean others can't.

WW or BM teleporter, Oro Portal, Pocket D porter, Base porter can all be used to get you there within a minute or two.

I'm sorry but I disagree with you on this. The players aren't being thanked for the money they spent, they are being thanked for the time they spent staying a loyal customer.

A player can just as easily spend the same amount of money on character slots, server transfers, name change token, respecs, booster packs, new editions, expansions, and AE slots and will never receive a token of appreciation.

The person who came up with the /market command is someone who needs to get a damn pay raise.

The person who actually allowed it to be implemented needs a pay raise and a vacation.

The person who decided to make it a SEVEN YEAR VET AWARD (so that only ~50 people in the whole *BLEEP!* game can actually USE this highly useful QOL improvement and due to current dev mentality removes the possibility of it ever being offered to people with less than 7 years of play time in another form) needs to have their ******* brains beaten out with a rock.

I am totally with Fleeting Whisper (and I have posted elsewhere) that vet rewards are a thank you by the devs. Since you have forgotten, respecs and character slots are also vet rewards. They don't have to give us those since they are loosing money. If it was all about money like you are implying, then they could make more by selling various packs for powers or costumes.

This vet reward is no big deal like some are screaming about. Those that play the market already have inf to spare, those that don't use the market ever or barely won't even care.
