I've run numerous characters of different levels and archetypes, some with IOs, some with SOs, some with nothing at all in the slots, over the last few days with zero change in endurance burn.
If something has changed, it's definitely not affecting everyone. -
Other cool Titan weapon ideas:
- Lamp post
- Yield sign
- Uprooted tree (with buzzing beehive and yowling cat options?)
- Car
- Halberd/poleaxe

Yeah, I've seen some people with Build Up on autofire. I have no idea why. There are several reasons it's weaker and less effective when used that way, and the only positive reason I can think of is "I am an amputee with only one finger for button-pressing."

Quote:If they're better in all respects than Scrappers, what sense does that make? Good game design requires that choices can be made between differing elements, not between "this element is better in every way" and "this element is weaker in every way but exists so you can make the mistake of choosing it."Ok enlight me why is there a "nerfcall" in order? Becous brute players can overcome the weaknes of the class and and be as good or even better than the scrappers in certain builds? Hmm I think I missed the part where it's says "Every other class Is forbidden do be equal or in certain situations better in melee than the scrappers. If they are NERF THEM!!!!"
That's not really something you can argue about, it's just true. -
Well, Crane Kick knocks them back by one foot.

I have almost no experience on Incarnate trials so far, but everything I've read says they involve a ton of energy damage. I would interpret that to mean "slot for e/n defense on an I-trials character."

[grumbles]No wonder I can't buy any Kinetic Combats for my typed defense characters -- they're over here on the positional defense characters for some reason.[/grumbles]

Quote:Endorse this as an alternative, but respectfully request that in the specific case of Scrappers, the subforums be titled thusly:I would follow what someone else mentioned, place the AT sections as a subforum for this or simply split the AT sections in to Builds and Advice/General under each AT.
Example:
Scrappers
- Builds
- Gameplay/General
Scrappers
- Punching Stuff
- Punching Stuff and Yelling, "Wahoo!"
Quote:While I'm no longer part of the team that develops the software, it does still sport my name, so I'd like to make an incredibly pedantic correction to Avatea's post.
My nickname is "Mids", not "Mid", therefore if you include one, the apostrophe goes after the 's'. Mids' Hero Designer, not Mid's. -
I note with mild irony that we've apparently added a new forum yesterday (Build Workshop). That's a bit of a surprise. :P

Quote:Well, I think of /Storm as adding damage to a Controller -- Lightning Storm and Tornado. I'd say, for instance, /Rad, /Sonic, /FF, and so on do less damage, whatever the primary.I believe that Earth/Storm is about as low damage and high control of a Troller combo you can get (except maybe Earth/TA).
Regarding the OP: One of the joys of Hurricane is that, although it can scatter groups, you can't scatter one guy. As a result, Stormies of all sorts, even the lowest-damage types, completely own solo bosses. -
Yeah, funny title aside, that was my "Suggestions" forum proposal to add +resistance bonuses to IOs but create a limiting factor (similar to the "rule of five" after which bonuses stop working) to prevent the combination of defense and resistance from reaching overpowered levels.

Quote:As others have said, you're not ever going to see the damage and recharge and movement penalties go away -- unless Granite is considerably toned down.but even with great sets the damage and recharge factor is killing me please help!!!!!!!
I find it helps to adjust how I think of the character, as much as anything else. I envision an anvil, a pylon, a linchpin -- strong but nearly immobile. -
Quote:With respect, I'm talking about more than Claws. Or rather, I'm talking about other posters talking about sets other than Claws. Specifically, I'm talking about how in thread after thread, some people say and many people imply alllllllllll Brute combinations do more damage than Scrappers (at least Scrappers other than Shield.)If I hear this one more time......
Brutes have ALREADY BEEN "fixed" to do less damage than Scrappers and more than Tankers. Brutes are already tougher than Scrappers and weaker than Tankers.
If Claws is an outlier that allows Brutes to come even to (or a teensy bit more than) Scrapper damage doesn't justify yet another Brute Nerf!
Or else they're expressing their thoughts badly -- one thing I see is people springboading from a discussion of Brute Claws to make it sound like ALL Brutes are better, but maybe they just got excited and oversold their case.
It may not be true -- it may be just rah-rah cheerleading for a favorite AT -- but again and again I see people implying Brutes are better than, or equal to, Scrappers for offense and defense, and are thus markedly superior.
If that's true, a nerfcall might be in order. If it's not, maybe being clearer about the differences* would help everyone understand.

Nope.
Each attack is classified by a damage type and a position, but it may do additional damage types and not be classed that way.
Your defense is all-or-nothing against the whole attack, and only the defense types by which the attack is classified apply.
The classic example is fireball. It does fire and smashing damage, and is an AoE. Its damage type is "Fire" and its position type is "AoE." It is applied against the higher of fire or AoE defense. Although it does smashing damage, smashing defense does not count against it.
If it did, that would make mixed-damage type attacks less useful, because more defense categories would apply against them.
edit: it's my understanding that each (non-weird like Hamidon) attack is applied against one damage type and one position, regardless of whatever other damage types and effects it might carry. -
While I am a big proponent of "play what you like," I have to agree that in terms of farming, you'd be better off to start over from scratch even if that character is already IO-ed out at 50.
Inv is great. Em isn't as bad as some people say. Inv/Em is a poor-to-outright-terrible combo for farming, though. -
I have some shots to add, from KR1 I think.
Zwillnger apparently surrendering to AceMace:
A tentacle party:
My Gutter Knight (pipe wrench in hand) runs to join the attack!
OK, so, it's BIG.
I got this! Just let me loosen a few bolts.
Although my machine barely allows me to attend large events, it was great to see the Tanker-loving portion of the player community turn out in force! -
Maybe it's supposed to be a melee cone and not really a Targeted AoE. I don't know the set yet, but I'm surprise to see a street-fighting set contain a Targeted AoE at all.

Quote:Yeah, that was great! That thing Synapse accomplished.A melee/support AT would be kind of cool. Like monk or paladin classes in other games.
EDIT: I still can't get this idea out of my head. It's the first "New AT" idea that I can actually get behind. It's weird that Synapse accomplished this in about a minute where as 7 years of player suggestions have not.
Uh...what thing are you talking about? Could you link or quote something? I've searched all 3 pages of this thread.
