Storm paired with anything. Gravity control, Illusion control, Energy blast, and Robots come to mind.
-
Congrats! That's quite a feat. I have been playing off and on since launch. I have several 50s but not one of each AT. I have been thinking of getting one of each to 50 mostly just to try new stuff. Though I'd counts VEATS as one AT, so either a PB or Warshade. Same for HEATS. Let's see... I still need a Brute, Tanker, Stalker, Dominator, Corruptor and Defender.
That's quite a few. At least I have a Defender, Dom, Corr and Brute(s) in progress. -
Best of both. Make a Plant/Fire Dominator. Plant/Fire/Fire for offense or Plant/Fire/Ice for more survivability.
-
I use the following build. Down side is it's not perma Hasten and uses Incinerate/GFS/Fire Blast attack chain. Plus side is, it's a cheap build. It is soft capped. I use the Spiritual Alpha for more recharge and +heal. I also have Rebirth, Void and Warworks. I don't have endurance issues in any normal fight. As long as I'm not AOE crazy in a longer AV fight, I am ok there too. Warning, it does not exemplar down well as most of it's attacks come late in the build. I have only one of the three Membranes but have no problems on the ITF. Three would be optimal, but that's the "not cheap" part of the build.

I think Electric Control is one of the better control sets. It offers a lot of different, layered, control effects. Sleep, knockdown, immobilize, end drain, confuse, hold. The end recovery you get from the drains is also great!
-
Quote:I used to farm Carnies with a Spines/DA. That combo seems made for the task. S, L, Psi defense and end drain resists. Only the -to hit debuffs were annoying. This was a non-purpled, pre-incarnate cheap build. I'm sure a better build is well better.Carnies. Dark Armor scrappers rip through them, especially if your primary deals lethal damage.
Now I am playing a soft capped Fire/Shield scrapper which is all around better but less optimized for certain foes. -
Quote:Great post and excellent closing quote. If Interface procs in rains and other fast dots are WAI, then the Incarnante balance point to include them will be such that not having those powers will bar access to Incarnate content. Character power selection for Incarnante content will come down to how many fast dots can I stack in my character, making the rest of my attacks mostly pointless. And if your AT or powersets do not have access to fast dots, then you are SOL for Incaranate content.Engaging games require meaningful choices. Meaningful choices require some measure of balance. One overwhelmingly powerful option is no option at all.
That's bad game design. -
I agree Grav/Traps would be fun and has great synergy. Just about the slowest way to defeat a spawn though... Great soloist. I think I'd like to try Electric/Traps. Get in close with all the overlapping controls and Trap it up. More of a Team-y build I think.
-
No, but I read into the dead silence and meaningful looks by the live chat devs when someone mentioned dark miasma for controllers....
I can hope at least. -
Mt Fire/Rad which was very very tricked out at the start of the Incarnate Trials dies quite a lot in the trials too. Being in melee at -4 levels with no defense was rough. Now she's -1 level and has smash, lethal and energy defenses and obviously does much better. My Fire/Shield scrapper was easier to play in the Trials right out of the gate, even though she did her fair share of dying. She's only got one level shift and can solo a crate in Lambda now. I think my controller would still have a harder time doing that.
Point is, stick with it. If you like the Fire/Rad's playstyle, don't give up hope. It will get easier. Mine now just ruins normal content play.In a good way.
-
Ms Chernobyl is my Fire/Rad and my main. Still is my number one go to Hero for any mission. She's an expensive high recharge build with three purple sets. Tier 3 Incarnate. She's also soft capped defenses to energy and 43.8% to smash/lethal. I have yet to find any foe she's not capable of defeating and always useful on teams.
My pal was taking a (non-optimized) team through villain side doing villain tips. I brought my level 50 Crab VEAT to help. Tough fights, many deaths. Switched to Ms C. Smooth sailing from then on. -
I would never drop RI. It's one of the better Rad powers at low levels if you ever exemplar down. It's useful when soloing tough content. It also accepts the Achilles Heel resist debuff proc.
-
I will add that, even though it's over 40 missions to go from Hero to Villain and back, it's not hard at all to do. You can always set them to +0 or -1 level and x1 foes. I did them all solo on my Fire/Rad. You can easily do the 5 tip missions in an hour each night.
-
Here's the build, Ms Chernobyl, my main uses. It's very pricey, as it's my only character with purples, but similar non-purple, build could be done. Before switching to the Mace Mastery Epic, I used the Psi Epic too. Now I use T3 Clarion for mez protection. T3 Cardiac is a must for the end costs of my build. I think mez protection (Indom Will or Incarnate Clarion) is a must for the toggle heavy Fire/Rad.
RE your build:
Choking Cloud is not the best place for the Unbreakable Constraint set, esp. if you don't 5 slot it for the bonus. I can only run it due to Cardiac. Normally I recommend 4xBasilisk+Hold/End+Lockdown proc.
As Local Man said, RI wants the Enzyme Hammis, but 4x Dark Watcher set is also good+Achilles Heel proc.
AM can get by with Frankenslotting for Recharge + End Mod.
As Local Man said, Indom Will need Recharge 1st, Defense is secondary.
I like EM Pulse a lot. PLus its another 4xBasilisk set.
In general, if you're not taking a defense epic shield, then I think slotting for defense (weave, maneuvers) is wasted. You won't get enough defense, but you will get the end costs. Unless you regularly team with a FF, Traps, etc. who could soft cap you with the defense you do have.

I disagree. The "grind" to get one incarnate power to Tier 3 is pretty trivial. If (when) Reactive is nerfed, and who doesn't expect it, it's not that big a deal to just get another power to replace it. If you think it's still an arduous grind, then I doubt you have played any other MMO at endgame. This is easy by comparison.
-
Electric Control is a melee ranged set typically with the end drain aura. It relies on layered controls, some soft, including end drain, sleep, knockdown and confuse. I'd say and secondary which plays well in close and does not scatter the foes is good. Rad, Kin, any buffing set (Empath, FF, Sonic, Cold) all come to mind. I'd be hesitant to recommend Storm (knockback) or TA (ranged). As Local Man pointed out, /Rad's Choking Cloud would synergize well. Also /Rad's AM + Electric's End Drain would give you amazing endurance recovery.
-
I'd opt for a Crab Spider. Lots of ranged AOES, good survivability, pets. Or a Coruptor or Defender. Their buff/debuff powers will always keep them interesting and always welcome on teams.
-
Ok, thanks for the info. I have one in Stamina now. I just wanted to be greedy.
-
How does the Performance Shifter +End Proc work if its slotted in Radiation Emission's Accelerate Metabolism? Can it only proc at the initial click of the power and/or once every 10 seconds? Does it only affect the power's owner or everyone affected by the AM?
-
The damage cap is the cap. No point in slotting Hot Feet for damage if you can reach the cap with Fulcrum Shift without doing so. I would not build it that way, as I like the ability to exemplar down, just saying. I also prefer to have end reduction in the power even if I had Transference.
The defense set bonus from Obliteration and Multistrike is nice, but Fire/Kin/Stone can still cheaply soft cap smash/lethal without them.
But those sets are all good options. I'd generically do 4 Scirocco Dervish (acc/dam, dam/end, acc/dam/end, proc) + 2 Armageddon (dam/end, proc), unless I really needed defense. -
This is my Fire/Rad's next build. Her current, is very close, I am mostly switching Epic powers. I am running Cardiac Alpha to manage the end costs.
For Hot Feet I like a mix of acc/damage/end and procs. Some set bonuses can be had; Eradication, Scirocco Dervish and Multistrike come to mind as they have end reduction in their sets. Obliteration is a great set but gives recharge reduction not end reduction which is bad. I went with Eradication for the defense and end set bonuses. The two Armageddons are great in Hot Feet if you can afford it.
/Kins can do an all proc build as Fulcrum Shift will damage cap it, Transference will give you end, and accuracy can be had via set bonuses and/or tactics. I wouldn't probably as I want the power to be useful exemplared down when I don't have those powers, but for a level 50 only farmer, it will work.

Reminds me. I need to take my Gravity/Storm/Ice out for a spin again.
-
I have been playing COH off and on since the Beta. I'm at 63 months Veteran badges so I do take long breaks. I just came back for I20 and too am having a blast. It's re-energized my interest in the game and has given me goals finally for my level 50s. I am only doing one 50 in the Trials now, maybe I'll do an other or two. I like the Trials because they are fun, quick (except getting the team started sometimes), give new rewards and I get to see old players and SGs again (Hey Taser!).
I think I have only been on two failed Trials and have Tier 3 on all 5 slots. Maybe I'm just lucky. Or maybe /Rad is that good.
Ms Chernobyl - Fire/Rad Controller
(Though being a melee ranged controller can be ROUGH at times. Hence my new master plan to soft cap smashing, lethal and energy defenses (45% soft cap)) -
Quote:While I have no idea how a Fire/Kin farms compared to the best Brutes, the point is a Fire/Kin can do it with an SO build. A "crazy" build just softcaps smash/lethal damage with IO sets. Using purples IOs would be a waste. You can of course purple IO a Fire/Kin, but it's not going to give you the bang for the buck purpling a Brute will.I wouldn't think even a purpled fire/kin would reach those numbers.
When I have farmed, it's usually been using real missions not AE missions, which limits your ability to min/max the incoming damage. I could see how 100% incoming fire damage would help a /Fire Brute out. -
Quote:They can though with the Psi epic. Of course from 45-50 with Clarion anyone can now. I like what Warshades can do, I just find them clunky to play. Other things are just easier. And the keybind files and endless form switching...No. But that's not to say you need it. Do controllers have full time mez protection?
Another quote from the guide:
I do think a Crab Spider is an interesting alternative. Sort of like a corruptor and scrapper rolled into one. With pets.
