Is this a good Fire/Rad/Psi build?

Hello,

I have a Fire Rad. I tried to look at different builds on the forums and the one I went with was entirely too squishy. I've played mostly scrappers and brutes, but would like to play a support role.

Below is my (extremely noob) attempt at a build.

I already have the Gravitational Anchors, Unbreakable Constraints, Absolute Amazement, and Soulbound Allegiance purple enhancements. I would like to incorporate those in the build if possible. The rest (including powers). I'm open on.

If anyone knows of a good defensive Fire/Rad build, that would also be cool. Any help would be appreciated.

Most of your slotting is very good, and similar to what I use. A couple of quick points:

Indomidable Will needs to be slotted for Recharge, not Defense. A LotG Recharge is OK, but you want it up as much as possible.

In Radiation Infection, slotting for ToHit Debuff is much more important than slotting for Defense Debuff. But by using Enzyme HOs, you can do both.

You have lots of Global Acc, so you can change the Kismet +6% ToHit to a Karma -Knockback.

And the biggest problem: With those Leadership and Fighting toggles, you are going to have a HUGE endurance problem when running Hot Feet+Choking Cloud. Look at all the toggles you have: HF+CC, CJ, Tac, Maneuvers, Tough, Weave, MoB. And that's not including RI, EF, Hasten and IW. You won't have endurance left to fight even with AM at perma. You are getting 18-23% defense for all those toggles. This is why I don't have Leadership or Fighting on my Fire/Rads -- even with the Cardiac Alpha, I still can drain my blue bar WITHOUT those toggles.

Instead, I have EM Pulse, Bonfire, Mutation, Psi Blast and, yes, even Fallout in my build. (If you aren't going for Defense, consider changing the set in AM to Efficacy Adapter.)

I made some changes to your build, but did not address the endurance issues. Take a look and think about whether that defense is worth having no endurance.

Personally, I hate the Psi epic, I'd go for fire and get the T4 Clarion for my mez protection.

Here is a slightly different take. It is built with the assumption that you will take Cardiac and Ageless Incarnate abilities to keep endurance under control. The Ageless should bump you to around perma-mezz protection most of the time. Watch out for the chance of knockback in Flashfire of that sort of thing bothers you.

Advantages are its more or less capped to Ranged in normal content (44.6), has excellent Psi defense (42.9) and decent Energy/Neg (40.6), near-perma Hasten (perma with Ageless), near-perma Indom Will (sometimes perma with Ageless). Put Radiation Infection on enemies close by you to keep their Melee chances low, while Ranged defense takes care of anything far away.

Here's the build, Ms Chernobyl, my main uses. It's very pricey, as it's my only character with purples, but similar non-purple, build could be done. Before switching to the Mace Mastery Epic, I used the Psi Epic too. Now I use T3 Clarion for mez protection. T3 Cardiac is a must for the end costs of my build. I think mez protection (Indom Will or Incarnate Clarion) is a must for the toggle heavy Fire/Rad.

RE your build:
Choking Cloud is not the best place for the Unbreakable Constraint set, esp. if you don't 5 slot it for the bonus. I can only run it due to Cardiac. Normally I recommend 4xBasilisk+Hold/End+Lockdown proc.

As Local Man said, RI wants the Enzyme Hammis, but 4x Dark Watcher set is also good+Achilles Heel proc.

AM can get by with Frankenslotting for Recharge + End Mod.

As Local Man said, Indom Will need Recharge 1st, Defense is secondary.

I like EM Pulse a lot. PLus its another 4xBasilisk set.

In general, if you're not taking a defense epic shield, then I think slotting for defense (weave, maneuvers) is wasted. You won't get enough defense, but you will get the end costs. Unless you regularly team with a FF, Traps, etc. who could soft cap you with the defense you do have.

One of the problems I have is that I haven't unlocked any of the Villain side stuff. Is it difficult to do?

My understanding is that you'd have to run 40 or so missions to get to villain side and back.

Once you unlock it for one character does it unlock for all characters on your account or is it on a per-character basis.

If I'm going for defense, Is it worth it?

If you are Hero-side, you have to run 11 missions (10 tips plus Morality) to get to Vigilante, and then another 11 to get to villain. Then you have to run the Patron arc before you can get the Patron Power Pools -- any of the 4 will open the sets. Then to get back to Hero, you have to run 11 more missions to get to Rogue, and another 11 to get back to Hero. Also, you are limited to 5 tip missions per day, so it will take a minimum of 4 days per side if you focus on it.

So, the total count is actually well over 44 missions. This has to be done for any Hero character who wants access to the Patron Power Pools -- it is not account-wide. Some folks have done it a bunch of times -- I've only done that entire process with my Traps Defender because I wanted a S/L Defense armor.

There is no single way to build a good Fire/Rad. It really depends on your playstyle. Mine are built more as team characters who work really well with other Fire/Rads -- my usual buddies have Fire/Rads, too, and every now and then we pull them all out to team together. But because mine often teams with other Fire/Rads, he really doesn't need much Defense -- a team of Fire/Rads kills everything in sight very quickly.

I will add that, even though it's over 40 missions to go from Hero to Villain and back, it's not hard at all to do. You can always set them to +0 or -1 level and x1 foes. I did them all solo on my Fire/Rad. You can easily do the 5 tip missions in an hour each night.

Eight days to complete the journey to redside (villian), do the patron arc, and to return to blueside (hero).

Not really all that difficult, and actually isnt all that time consuming either.

You can autocomplete much of those villain archs, too. I autocompleted all but the last mission on Siroccocococco, mostly because finding a team red side is such a chore, and I am very very lazy
