Elec/... umm

I just jumped back in as school ends for the final time and I have free time once again. The problem is that I can not figure out what I want to pair with my Elec Controller. I have alway been a /Rad fan and apparently /Kin is very good. Just wondering what others may or may not think about these two pairings.

I was hesistant to roll my Elec/Kin since I've played Kin's a few times.

I'm so glad I did though. He's a blast to play! Loving it even more than my Fire/Rad these days.

I'm still debating on SB though, I usually skip it just to avoid the SB NAO mindset some teams get in, since I'm a controller I'll be too busy to constantly reapply... but thats another story.

I'd say go Elec/Kin or Elec/Storm, maybe Elec/Sonic.

I'm about 10 levels in on each (Elec/Kin and Elec/Rad) just testing each out, though they will have to get near 20 before i decide on my own I see the possibilities that the Elec/Rad has by just jumping into the middle of a group later on. /Kin has always been a favorite though, and I really like it also, though I see more of a lockdown in /Rad, Kin seems to have more DMG output maybe...
Both /Storm and /Sonic looked good but I haven't looked hard enough to decide atm. I am soloing quite a bit though..

Try trick arrow. It's fun and fairly unique, and once you get oil slick arrow, things just melt.

I went elec/cold, and in a team, its awesome. Cold shields keeps everyone from getting hit, and static field keeps everyones endurance pretty nice, and minions/LTs from hitting back.

Problem is, solo i've seen paint dry faster then i can kill things..

I don't think you can really evaluate Elec/Rad until you have Choking Cloud fully slotted. Electric, Fire and Ice are the three primaries that can take advantage of Choking Cloud because they have a ranged "alpha," and then a combination of two PB AoE toggle auras that will make each of them better by being combined.

But then, I'm especially fond of Rad. So far, I have Ill/Rad, 2xFire/Rad, Earth/Rad, Plant/Rad all at 50, and several other */Rads in the late 30's and 40's.

Electric Control is a melee ranged set typically with the end drain aura. It relies on layered controls, some soft, including end drain, sleep, knockdown and confuse. I'd say and secondary which plays well in close and does not scatter the foes is good. Rad, Kin, any buffing set (Empath, FF, Sonic, Cold) all come to mind. I'd be hesitant to recommend Storm (knockback) or TA (ranged). As Local Man pointed out, /Rad's Choking Cloud would synergize well. Also /Rad's AM + Electric's End Drain would give you amazing endurance recovery.

I'm sorry, I call BS. Controlling isn't that hard or time consuming where you can't buff your teammates. If they are being obnoxious a simple explanation that you'll get to them and not to get their panties all in a bunch if its not on them 24/7. If they still have a problem with them: quit team and get better teammates. I hear it all the time how, buffing isn't a controllers job, blah blah blah......yes it is.....part of it anyway. You have two powersets just like an empathy defender. The argument you're too busy to buff is the same lame argument a "pure empath" is too busy to blast. Is it your primary purpose: no. But it's part of what makes a controller special and helpful and powerful. Explain up front that you'll keep the team buffed but that you'll do it between spawns as you'll be controlling while fighting. If they can't handle that, sayonara. But not taking a buff because of something a team may or may not do, is unacceptable in my opinion.

Fully agree. Yes, SB can be a bit of a pain to administer. Yes, you can run into annoying teammates who bug you for SB. And then there are the few who don't want SB. But applying Speed Boost to a team will improve overall team performance more than most things you can do. The Recharge and Recovery buffs are huge. Setting up binds can make the chore fairly minor.

When I play a */Kin, I do my best to apply SB as often as convenient, generally between engagements. Often, teammates don't wait . . . oh, well, not my fault and their loss. I do my best to get all my teammates between controlling and my various other things I can do. If I don't want to constantly have to apply SB . . . then I play a different character.

Another vote for buffing...I wasnt going to take my ice shields on my ill/cold because I personally hate buffing until mental maiden advised me to(yes I take forum advice ). It was worked wonders, and it's not that hard to take alittle time to buff your teammates. The more protection your team has the more it it benefits everyone....even if you hate doing it.

Elec/ is not a melee ranged set in the least since none of the powers require you to be in melee range. Conductive Aura is a PBAoE toggle with a 25' radius that is well outside any melee attack. You can easily leverage draining from a distance just by using Chain Fences and standing outside a group of enemies melee range. Also /TA is not a set you have to play at ranged either since the powers can be used either in melee or ranged.

I do love my Elec/Cold alot but /TA or /Rad are good secondaries to pair with it too. /Cold doesn't help much offensively in the lower levels but it helps alot later on. I ended up using Air Superiority and Boxing to help out with killing while I leveled my Elec/Cold.

Also keep in mind that trick arrow gives you a second targetted AoE hold. The set as a whole synergises quite well with elec control.

I've seen a video of an Elec/Cold soloing a pylon. The player went Mace Mastery as it's Patron/Epic pool, so s/he had a lot of pets to play with while focusing on debuffs.

An acquaintance of mine runs an Elec/Rad that she loves. I don't know how the powers would stack, all things considered. My Elec is a Dominator, and I'm happy I went that route. :P

Seen multiple friends play high level Elec/Kins. Those sets seemed like they synergized very well. One person RP'd hers as a person who was an energy vampire, sucking electricity from humans and power grids alike and then discharging it to benefit her allies/incapacitate foes.

Too many alts to list.

Was that me?

I've since dropped Mace Mastery for Earth Mastery for more damage and a heal. I've only done one pylon run since the change and the time was basically the same but I don't have enough runs to tell which is better. I think that earth will be better since Seismic Smash is up every 7seconds and is something I don't have to worry about dieing as soon as it spawns from aggro loss.
