  1. Based on his experience I'll take Silverado's word for it. I was kinda thinking that anyway, but I wanted a direct set comparrison between the ATs.

The mu mastery is good to for the whole idea of thunderstorm over a volcano feel. Similar to the pic posted by Starflier.

    DEFENDER:
Radiation Infection: -31.3% def, -31.3% tohit
Accelerated Metabolism: +25% dmg, +30% recharge
Enervating Field: -30% res, -25% dmg
Lingering Radiation: -500% regen, -75% recharge
    EM Pulse: -1000% regen

    CORRUPTOR:
Radiation Infection: -25% def, -25% tohit
Accelerated Metabolism: +20% dmg, +30% recharge
Enervating Field: -22.5% res, -20% dmg
Lingering Radiation: -500% regen, -75% recharge
    EM Pulse: -1000% regen

Now, Corruptor has a higher base damage and have access to Scourge. Granted, Scourge isn't going to happen often until your target's HP goes below 50%, but it's still useful. From the numbers above, you can see that the Defender's version is pretty much 5% stronger than the Corruptor's version. However, Lingering Radiation and EM Pulse are the same for both Archetypes and -regen is what you want for taking down AV's anyhow.

If anything, I would say that the Corruptor's version is a bit better. Being able to Scourge and deal 2x more damage is much better than being 5% ahead in the debuff department anyday.

Also, are you dead set on Sonic? If you do go Corruptor, I would say Fire is a better choice overall. The -15%res from each of sonic's attacks are nice but so is the raw damage from Fire. Fire also has a snipe which is actually pretty useful. It's got a long activation time but it pretty much does 2x the damage of Shout, the strongest power in Sonic.
Well Sonic is what I heard of on defenders and so I wanted a direct comparison to the corruptor version. And the snipe would not be as effective on those kinds of targets outside of the opening attack, because the animation time is just that long. Someone could fire off Blaze>Fire Blast>Flares and MAYBE >Blaze again before the snipe finishes animating.
  4. A willpower brute and a son/cold corr will do well together. The +hp and +def from cold will make the brute nigh unkillable. Just be sure to have the brute be AoE focused so he doesn't lose aggro, and the corr can get just about any primary you want. Howl as an opener from the corr will also turn the brute into an even more efficient killing machine since AoE -res and an AoE centric brute is a recipe for massive amounts of goodness.
  5. I like my fire/earth dom. If the lava graphics on seismic smahs hitting a fire caged enemy getting burned by your lava hot feet don't give you a volcano feel, something is wrong.

    *EDIT
And if fissure on lava graphics doesn't make you feel like a volcano themed toon, you may very well need help with your mental stability.
  6. I know for defenders, rad/son is pretty amazing at soloing AVs and GMs, but how does the corr son/rad version measure up? I assumed that with scourage, the corruptor would have an advantage against enemies with such large amounts of health, but the general vibe I'm getting from the forums is that the defender's debuff values make it superior. Is the defender version that much better, or is the corruptor version simply not brought up because fire/traps is a better corruptor for the job?

Even so, Umbral is still correct in saying Kat has better AoE due to slice recharging slower than flashing steel. And for some reason, Kat's The Lotus Drops is more damaging than Whirling Sword.

That many scrappers with that many dmg toggles will not be needing much help with aggro. The toggles and multiple spine bursts at once will kill just about anything anyway.
  9. My thinking was that he's already familiar with stone, and Shield is a bit lacking on survivability without some investment. Since he has only had the game for a week, WP seemed more user friendly. Shield will perform better damage wise, but you will also be needing some extra endurance slotting in your powers, especially with FSC and BoF. Fire also lacks the mitigation he asked for, and one of its best powers (incinerate) is the opposite of burst dmg, so he will most likely not be getting its full damage most of the time.
  10. Stone melee is pretty good for the burst damage you want as well as the mitigation you are asking for. If you are new to the game and want some good mitigation from your secondary, I suggest Will Power. It works well on just Single Origin enhancements, and is better for protection than Fiery Aura in almost every way. Since Stone melee is also very hard on endurance, WP's recovery power, quick recovery, will help you out quite a bit as well, especially if you grab stamina as well. Hope that helps.
  11. I have been wanting to try the 2 emp/sonics idea for a while. On paper it looks incredible. On SO's only you can get capped defense, almost limitless endurance, constant ~90% damage buff(20% vig, ~39% assaults, and 31% fort), and perma hasten/ra/ab. Add in tough and the epic shield, and you have near defender capped s/l resistance. If you go dark ancillary, you can get a perma soul drain up as well. It's just loads of fun.

Fire/rad is more damage, ill/rad is just safer.

I see questions similar to this a lot. Yes they would. In fact, just about everything in this game will stack with the exception of vengence and ally buff powers from the same person. There may be a maximum of 2-3 other powers that do not stack, but I can't think of any.
  14. Controller DPS is a little hard to figure out from what I understand. The reason is because pets don't always use the same attack chain, and because many sets have buffs/debuffs that alter the potential damage of each power. One could easily say a fire/kin has the most DPS because of maxed out damage buffing, but put it against an av and anything with regen debuffs will be killing at a much faster pace. Either way you look at it, I would say the general opinion is that fire/ will be doing the most damage, but depending on the situation, the optimal secondary will differ.

*Keep in mind I am not an expert number cruncher and this is just my opinion based on what I have read and experienced in game.

Dark consumption is an endo drain that leeches endo from mobs to yourself

Soul drain is a tohitt/damage drain similar to sunless mire.
Dark regen is a heal similar to stygian circle

Dont forget inky aspect/oppressive gloom and shadow cloak/cloak of darkness
    plus orbiting death/death shroud.

Now again, you cant switch forms as a scrapper, and a WS has many more leach/drains but a dark/dark does have alot in common with a warshade.
That is about the closest you will ever get. They still play a lot differently with range, pets, nukes, dead body mini nukes, and phase.

    DM/SR Questions

    1. MG is by far worth taking. It has a DoT portion of dmg that makes its total damage one of the best for a brute T9 power. It also has a very fast animation time for a big hitter.

    2. I can't recall the chain, but I'm sure someone will have it soon enough on this thread. I know MG is in the best one, as well as any of them that are worth while. If you have crazy recharge, I know shadow punch is out of it, but if you don't have rediculous amounts of recharge, you will still need it.

    3. On a DM/SR aid self is not needed, as you will be getting hit so little that siphon life will be plenty with it being slotted as an attack. This is for AVs as I have little knowledge on PvP.

    4. Some might say it's personal preference, but I think most people agree SD is better than BU becase it can be made perma, and because its buff lasts significantly longer. It is alos one of dark's only ways of dealing AoE damage, and with high fury it isn't that bad of an attack.

    5. I personally have no clue, but I suspect it will do pretty good, as the two sets together work quite well together. Although defense isn't as great in PvP, the -to hit is still worthwhile I think, and will make the defense more noticeable.

    -def

If nothing else, it will help out with your acc in the lower levels. On top of that, it helps out a bit on higher level mobs (+3, +4) since they require more than just the one SO of acc to get to 95%. Putting that 2nd slot of acc in proton scatter, for example, will make it hit, and its debuff will allow your next few attacks to hit easier with only the one SO in them. I still reccamend not using just SOs in the first place, but that is one tactic I used while leveling my PB.

    Farming Brute

That is because after very minimal fury is gained, brutes outdamage tanks. And once their fury gets up there at around 70-80, they are outdamaging scrapers as well.

Here are damage caps by AT:

    Brutes: 850%
Blasters, Corruptors, Scrappers, Stalkers: 500% when above lvl 21, but only 210% below lvl 21
All other ATs: 400% above lvl 21, only 200 below lvl 21

Keep in mind that base damage is 100%, so a brute will cap out with 750% in damage buffs, and enhancement buffs count towards that 750%.
  19. I am by no means knowledgeable, so don't take this as a definite answer. I would say if you keep them in range for the inherent to hit and dmg buff (the name escapes me, I think it's supremacy), one acc is fine for "standard" difficulty, but if you want to fight +2s, I would suggest adding in a second acc slot.
  20. Alright, thanks for the replies. Guess I'll check there. Pretty sure I'm going with the stalker though, it seems safer. I might try "farming" some friends for drops too, who knows.

Well the original run I posted about was one that I missed. However, I just finished one up and it took I think 54 min. There was one blaster on the team who died a lot and slowed us down, but most folks knew what they were doing, and it went relatively well.
  22. I know the first thing a few of you are going to say is, "go to pvp forums for this." However, just skimming through there, people who generally post there seem...rude. So I thought I could get more constructive feedback here.

I can't really decide on what kind of toon to make, but I have narrowed it down to either a fire/em blaster, or a stalker with some mix of dark/, em/, /sr, or /nin. I don't plan on teaming much for pvp, just some zone hunting, which is making me lean towards the stalker, but if someone thinks the blaster would be better for some reason, please say why.

The main reason for this toon will be because I want some pvp drops; the bonuses look pretty good, and I think it would be cool to get a toon slotted out with a few sets. Thanks to anyone with some good info.

Sonic will also get you the best GM soloist if you want to try for that.

Thanks guys. That was a little shorter than I thought, but that's a good thing. I'll have time to do it if we get it done in under 90. Shouldn't be much of a problem.
