I'd seriously suggest going to the PvP forums for this. The people that can answer your questions best are people who PvP. The people who PvP are in the PvP forums.
I know they're rude. That's why I don't PvP. If you don't like dealing with rude people, then you probably shouldn't do PvP either.

Just do a search in the pvp forums, there a lot of "Hey, I'm new to pvp...." threads that get good info thrown around.
Don't get discouraged there, lots of good and useful info there.
Dechs advice is solid. If you can't handle the taunting, then PvP is not for you.
On the other hand, a good chunk of the rudeness in the PvP forum is ... Forum PvP. Don't take it any more seriously than you do someone ganking you in a zone. They compete wherever they are.
But they do have good advice to give. Alternatively, find the AT you want to try and ask in the dedicated forum.

Alright, thanks for the replies. Guess I'll check there. Pretty sure I'm going with the stalker though, it seems safer. I might try "farming" some friends for drops too, who knows.
Elec/WP Stalker, Psi/EM Blaster
If your goal is to PvP, either your Fire/Em blaster or almost any flavor of stalker will be fine, although Psi/Em would make a better blaster, and there are better stalker combinations.
But if your goal is to get PvP drops, PvPing is about the worst thing you can do. The devs' anti-farming code pretty much relegates them to those willing to set up multi-account afk farms, or to PvE farmers and marketeers willing to pay inf to those that do.

I read this from a lot of posters awhile ago and decided to conduct a "PvP IO farming experiment". About four months ago, I rolled up a Elec/WP Stalker, ran him through AE and hit the zones; I decided to give it a week to rule out any lucky drops. After spending some time PvPing (a few hours in the morning and some more before going to bed), running solo...I received 6 drops over the course of seven days.
I know I had a lot of free time on my hands, but it worked out decent and they sold well on the market. Some have said that I was lucky, so YMMV based on time availability etc.

Honestly, I'd recommend a Corruptor or a Defender and MAYBE a Blaster for PvP.

Not only do I rarly see either of those combos when I PvP on Freedom (never acctually seen a Psi/EM), but you can make any Build and PvP it as long as youv got enough IOs stacked up onto it.
Some you wouldnt have to IO at all and they would destroy other players.Such as a Elec/FA Scrapper thats built correctly.It could destroy people on SOs alone.
So before you think im Ignorant, rethink whats really the Ignorant part of your narrow understanding of the game.

edit: oh ya my narrow understanding of the game lol? coming from a guy that once claimed to be able to get perma hasten with just SOs ya I never forget anything GFTO.

Positron's i13 letter: We are trying to make PvP more accessible to new players, while giving experienced PvP'ers the advantage that comes with formulating tactics around the new systems we're putting in place. PvP from now on will be on our priority list. If something isn't working out, we'll be in there tweaking it and making it work, for the entire future of the product, not just Issue 13.

Chain Induction with BU+Fiery Embrace and 3 Damage SOs with PvP Numbers on a level 50 Scrapper can reach 1,000.Lightning Rod with both BU+FE and 3 Damage SOs point to a number of 800 Damage at level 50.Both before Crits are ever involved.
By the way Lucky666, we have already estabished that you can "Almost" Perma AM on a Rad character.A few seconds down time is close enough for me.With that being said, try to come up with a better way to argue a point with me other then trying to be like a High Schooler and getting others to rally to your side.Im not calling on anyone else to help protect me.

You know nothing about pvp but spout these non sense numbers about chain induction doing a 1000 damage yet fail to take into account base resist that every toon in a pvp gets.
You know almost as much as pvp as you do about pve so stop giving others bad advice in both fields.
I seem to remember you were leaving the forums for good it was one of the things i was looking forward to not having to read your mis information ahh well trolls will be trolls I guess.

i'd really like to see these numbers since in game and mids shows this to be false, especially after you factor in base pvp global resistance and the fact that unless you're lolfiteklubing, lightning rod is hard to hit with.
and no, a troll is someone who starts incites flaming. most commonly by giving bad/stupid information like you have just done. you're either hard trolling or have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. this is almost as good as when dahjee tryed to tell people that pvping with a sonic/sonic defender was good.

Besides, not all of my advice is bad at all,Also to point out to ou that the "Base" Numbers for that 1000 is what PvP damage is.the damage resistance that everyone gets doesnt calculate into that number.Its the mathmatical number from the +200% damage boost from both BU and FE, Chain Inductions nearly 300 damage base by level 50 and 3 Damage SOs applied to it.
And reguardless if you have friends on the forums or not.Little insulting tidbits to get other morons like PC Guy and Tamaki to chime in like little crownies that like to gang up on someone when they really have nothing to say in the first place.

I stopped reading after you said Psi/EM Blasters suck. Elec/ is awesome for Stalkers although I prefer ninjitsu or regen for secondary.

I know the first thing a few of you are going to say is, "go to pvp forums for this." However, just skimming through there, people who generally post there seem...rude. So I thought I could get more constructive feedback here.
I can't really decide on what kind of toon to make, but I have narrowed it down to either a fire/em blaster, or a stalker with some mix of dark/, em/, /sr, or /nin. I don't plan on teaming much for pvp, just some zone hunting, which is making me lean towards the stalker, but if someone thinks the blaster would be better for some reason, please say why.
The main reason for this toon will be because I want some pvp drops; the bonuses look pretty good, and I think it would be cool to get a toon slotted out with a few sets. Thanks to anyone with some good info.
