I didn't find the PvP guy nearly as annoying as the woman who went on and on about not being able to find the last mob on a map when you don't know if it's a defeat all or whatever.
-
Really, really bummed that they aren't going to show the Endgame & Beyond panel on Ustream.
-
Yes. I have one on Virtue that will be drops-only until level 50. I may set him out then and stuff... but until then, only get what drops for me.

Just energy? Electric blast, I imagine. Electric control. /shrug. One of the main reasons people loved the Fire is because of Burn, I think.
Personally I'd just pick up some Freakshow and beat them down, they can still rez for extra XP :P -
Quote:MARTy stands for "Metric Activated Rewards Throttle"....yoke.I know I'm going to get laughed at for this question, but I've been away for a while am lost at this. Who or what is MARTy?

It was introduced as a method the devs can use to curb exploits without having to take the servers down immediately.
When it was first knowingly tested by players it was broken immediately. Since fixes were put into place it runs entirely in the background and you should never, ever see it in game unless there's a hideous bug or exploit. Something along the lines of you entering Perez Park, clicking on the map tab and that killing every mob on the map and giving you credit for the kills. -
Nobody is saying it should replace the in-world contacts. At least, I don't think people are saying that.

Quote:As I said, "for some of the content, anyway". And yes, single-AT teams can be fun, but some of the content would be extremely frustrating for the average player to go through with say, 8 blasters, or 8 tankers, or something like that. Keep in mind I'm saying that the random grouping of players should have a method of balancing teams, but that in itself might not be a good way to do it because of all the categories you'd have to employ and let players have input into it as to their own preferred playstyle. What's wrong with archetype saturation? It isn't like Blasters can't attack. The amount of AoE cataclysmic devastation and support-based buffs/debuffs could cause some serious harm to the other mobs.
For example, in a game released earlier this year they have a queuing system for their dungeons. There are only 4 different 'roles' that you can choose to describe yourself as: Tank, DPS, Support, Healer. There are requirements you must meet before you could describe yourself as any of them. And that didn't even account for 'ranged dps' or 'melee dps', or what type of support (buffs, debuffs, control, etc).
In CoH, there would have to be more categories for it. Tanks are self-explanatory, really. But when you get into other types of characters... say you have two blasters. One is Fire/NRG, the other Rad/Fire. Your Fire/NRG is designed to fight only at extended range, so you might flag him for ranged dps. Your Rad/Fire can fight both at range, but is purposely designed for PBAE attacks - would that count for melee DPS or ranged DPS?
The more I think about it the more I think the system would be complicated and not as user-friendly as one would hope without sacrificing something. -
New level pacts are disabled. Previous level pacts are still in play. They're out until further notice, though I expect they'll be a paid feature before too long (maybe a couple months).

Quote:That's almost exactly what I expect, though I expect more story content than just tips. I'm hoping for more, anyway.I'm expecting something structured like the Tip System ...
1) Threads will drop during these missions
2) Completing each mission will award you an Astral merit, maximum of 5 per 24-hour period
3) Instead of an Alignment Mission after 10 of them, we'll get an Empyrian Merit and a random drop from the Incarnate Salvage Table (or a choice between them). -
Quote:That wouldn't be bad. I on the other hand think that the Cathedral of Pain should be put in the queue. The way you are forced to all the team captains be in the same SG for that is really, really dumb.
In my mind, the first things that should get the treatment are the various respec trials.
I asked about this sort of thing on a UStream sometime in the past month, and Zwillinger had apparently forgotten about the Respecs, the Hollows, CoP, and the Abandoned Sewer Trial as well as the Eden Trial when he said, "All trials are in the LFG queue," in response to it. The error was pointed out but I don't remember what the amended answer to the question was. I shall have to activate my VK-signal and search for it, I presume. (Also, don't think I'm blaming Zwill here, he's a community manager and not a game designer. You don't have to remember every last detail 24/7.)
I would definitely like it to be easier to find teams, though. Really, is there any valid argument against making teaming easier?
Edit: Seconds after asking the question, I came up with an answer: A queuing system would almost have to involve a way to identify characters' powers/etc so that you wouldn't just have 8 random blasters on a team or something along those lines - for some of the content, anyway.... and I'm pretty sure that having an arbitrary system deciding how you should play is wrong,Wrong,WRONG for City of Heroes. -
Whuh? I think I queued for DFB on my preemie account a while back.

Also just noticed the new purple recipes that are account bound showing up on the market (wentworth's/black market). Well, not really 'new', just new versions of the old ones. Sign of things to come in the store, I guess.

I don't really have a connection to any of the heroes in game, none of them have very real connections to players in-game. I think that's a mistake, we seem to get far more backstory on the villains we face than the heroes we're supposed to be allies with/lackeys of.
I have a feeling it will be Statesman though, in a "No! Not another person I love! *jump in front of bullet*"-sorta way.
I would shed no tears for Synapse, though. Not that I dislike the character, I just ****ing hate his task force. -

That may just be on Beta, but I think it's the same on Live. Not positive. -
Isn't Vigor broken right now? Doesn't give any healing bonus at all?
-
I disagree a little bit here, with the changes to Keyes it's entirely feasible to run it in rotation with BAF/Lambda before you get a single level shift. It was much more difficult to do so before, but still doable when everyone did what they were supposed to (which rarely happened in my experience).

Redside has some really great ones in the mid-to-late levels. Vincent Ross (20-29) and Darrin Wade (20-30) are both pretty good. Later on you get to do Johnny Sonata's arc which I thought was awesome (35-ish, if I remember rightly). After that there's a goldmine of content when you're wearing red.
Blueside you're going to want to do Field Agent Keith Nance (and Jenni Adair) and then Roy Cooling while you're in your 20s still. After that... well, I've done pretty much every blueside arc and they just don't compare to redside IMO. They aren't necessarily bad, but villains just seem to get better story arcs IMO.

There's a whole game other than those two iTrials.

On second thought, not going to get into this. :P

I have this problem quite often when running the trial. I'll bring it up right when it starts: Badges or no badges? Sometimes there's one or two people that want them. If I have the star, I'll tell people: Badge run. I'm not a badge hunter, but I will *not* purposely ruin another player's experience if I can help it. The run is fast whether you go for badges or not. I've actually had to boot a few players that chose to be butt-ejected-projectiles and .... wait, that makes me sound dirty. They were doo-doo heads. I kicked them from the team for that reason. There were other times when we just didn't get the badge(s), and if that happens, oh well. however, when they run in with AOEs blazing on the Vahz boss to ruin other player's times... they can go find another team. I'll shed no tears for them.
-
I dunno, but if you come to Virtue there are buttloads. You are probably asking yourself, "Metric or Imperial?", and the answer is neither. They are in the 'Lopez' scale.

Vanessa DeVore seems to be set as a regular Carnival of Shadows enemy now. Doing a regular radio mission in PI I fought her 4 times in different enemy spawns. Kinda ridiculous.
And apparently Carnies have a higher-mag hold now? Getting held pretty quickly on my brute.
