  1. Ok, spent ALL morning using Iakona's spreadsheet and Word, and CoH Builder to do this.

    Step 1: Pick Powers
    Step 2: Export into Word
Step 3: Prioritize Powers most used.
Step 4: Pick Sets/Set Combos from Spreadsheet
Step 5: Put Slotting into Word for each power
Step 6: Put slots into CoH Builder (so I know how many I have left)
Step 7: Put Set Bonuses and Enh rates into Word.
Step 8: Repeat until out of slots.
Intermittant Step: Make sure no uniques are double slotted anywhere.

Before I go on, I made a decision here. When slotting lvl 50 IOs into a power that used to have an SO (EndMod for Stamina for example) using 2 was ALMOST as good as using 3, therefore giving me an extra slot here and there.
    Powers affected by this were:
    Stamina
    Accellerate Metabolism
    Enervating Field
    Hasten
    Dark Consumption
    Soul Drain

These powers were slightly lowered in effectiveness from my I8 Build to make room for global set bonuses and more effective slotting of other powers.

Some powers went from 3 slots to 6, some from 6 to 4, ect...

This was a MAJOR headache to do, but the end result I think is INSANE from certian standpoints.

    I8 build (currently using):

Now, here's my question. What are my global set bonuses? What do they add up to? I have +Recovery 2.5 a few times, does this mean if I have 3 then that's +8.5% Recovery? If there's 3 of those and 1 +Recovery 1, is that now 9.5%? How do those stack?

What is the total effect? Pollution has issues with End usually, this build seems to have Stamina unslotted 3 times over in effect. Is that correct?

Basicly, what are the total set bonuses? how does this rate in your mind? What have I missed that I should have done instead (using a Hami instead of IOs). I'm looking to be fast recharging, end efficient and have a good recovery the whole time. I'm sure some of this is overkill, but all these numbers are blowing my mind. I'm a planner guy, and there's no 100% planner out there for IOs yet. It's one power at a time as far as I can see.

Oh, this build also takes for granted that the Set Assignment bugs will be fixed before Launch (Irradiate is the big one in this build, taking TAoE Sets instead of PBAoE Sets).

I took your information and made a spreadsheet from it to make it easier to quickly find what drops a particular piece of salavge. I'll try to keep it updated with the information you have here.

It began with the first MMO, EQ

    [/ QUOTE ]

No, not NWN, 50 players at a time isn't really Massive IMO, or UO, the first was Meridian 59.

That game sucked, but was hella cool back then. You can still play it btw...

    edited for clarity
  4. I'm working on an I9 version of my Brute guide in my sig. When I work out IO possibilities, I'll post it, but until I have solid numbers on Inventions, it'll be on the backburner (thought about doing it as I8, but with less than a month left, what's the point).
  5. I will min/max the heckipoos out of my toons, given the correct information.

Fortuneately/unfortuneately, the information I can use at this point is sparse and undeveloped. This guide is the KEY to what I know I can do with some of my toons, if only I can figure out what. (I knew about the Health stuff, though not that detailed).

The SECOND someone sits down and puts IOs in a ToonPlanner I'm gonna be in heaven. I'll spend HOURS figuring out max End recovery, HP recovery, global recharges and procs and secondary effects until I feel that I'm at a sweet spot for effectiveness.

Then I'll make me a nice shopping list, and go a-killin'. I'll craft till I'm blue in the face, buy what I HAVE to, and in the end, I'll be back to I3 levels in my mind (Look at the numbers in the OP, that's DAMNED close to Regen's glory days using Regen slots if done right).

After all that, I'll quickly shelve that toon, and bring out the next one. and the next, and the next, and the next.

Then, sometime next year, I'll have finished with the 5 or 6 toons I actually care about and move on to other obsessions in the game, like the I13 content (can't wait to see what Issue 13 will do to the game, I hope it comes out on a Friday the 13th just to make it all the more hokey).

The only real negative thing I see this doing to me as a casual player (maybe 1-2 hours a day) is that I'll stop playing all my alts as much and focus on anything above 30. At which point, having my DM/FA Brute completely unstoppable and deadly to behold, I'll think about making other toons using the I12 AT/Powersets/whatever comes out till then.

I still have a level 10 AR/EM Blaster and a Sonic/Devices Blaster from when those went live. My PB is still 10, my WS is a hair better, I just can't get away from the 6 or so toons I made during prelaunch. I'm funny like that.

I don't think the casual player who doesn't read the boards will be too affected by this, but I do think that it'll be a SLIGHT advantage for those of us who do. There's no UBERENHANCEMENTOFDEATH!!! in this system, so that should help the balance a bit, and other than extreem cases of cheese the bonuses really AREN'T that great. 2.5% resist to a 100 point damage burst is only 2.5 points absorbed. Even stacking that's not so bad, and they'll suffer for having so many sets slotted.

As pointed out already, the key is to mix SO's, IO's and HO's to get maximum effect. Not all of one type.

Player Auction houses are a great example of PvP content

    [/ QUOTE ] plz explain

    [/ QUOTE ]

yeah I don't see how that's pvp either.

    [/ QUOTE ]
The whole sentence he said, "Player Auction houses are a great example of PvP content that is typically embraced by PvE players." PvP = Player vs Player competition. So, I think he means that players will be directly competing against each other in the consignment houses. Just like if they added an implementation of 2 player pong. It would technically be PvP, but not exactly what everyone expects as PvP. It's a somewhat pedantic point.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I specifically went for an example that most people wouldn't think of as PvP. "Pedantic" is, I suppose, deserved.

As for how it is PvP, say you are selling "Progenitor Goo Mk XII" for 800 Quatlu's and I have one I want to sell. I am going to price my item based off not only what the 'market' says it should go for, but also based off of what others are selling for AT THIS MOMENT. So, if I think you're selling too low, I could buy yours, then try to sell both at a higher price. Or, if I think you're selling too high, I can undercut you, reducing your chance of selling. Either way, my actions will effect you, and your actions will effect me. Thus, "PvP."

    [/ QUOTE ]

In other words, "I'm in U'r Wallet, stealin' U'r Monies!"

CH/BM is technicly PvP. I'm trying to get cheap rates on high priced items, and you're trying to get high sales from cheap items.

It's PvP in that I want to cheat you (basicly) and you want to cheat me (more or less).

He with the most inf wins!

    kinda....

EDIT: First post after Redname! (always wanted to say that).

    Continue please....
  7. [ QUOTE ]
    [ QUOTE ]
It is not allowed to put TO/DO/SO ACC in it. Well I see that the IO sets have ACC and hold. Does that mean the ACC will actually work in the power?

    [/ QUOTE ]
I've wondered the same thing, actually. Along that same line, does CC accept Endos? I've never tried it because ... eck, putting Endos in CC? I don't have the patience to gather enough data to determine if it makes a difference, anyway.

An eternity ago, before I included Tactics on all my Controllers as a standard practice, I had CC but I was frustrated that it couldn't accept Acc. Someone mentioned in a random topic that To-Hit buff should work on it though, and that's how I ended up with Tactics everywhere (not what it used to be ... thanks ED, but still).

But now, I realize I don't know if the Acc in CC is truly unenhanceable, or if it's only that the power doesn't accept normal Acc enhancements.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yes. I wrote Castle about this a few months ago and posted it somewhere in the guides section (one of the Rad guides). Basicly, it works like this.

CC can take the Hold/Acc Hami's and the end result of doing this will allow you to hold more opponants the first time the power ticks. I.E. out of 10 you were holding 5, now you're holding 7, the next tick, you may get another one or 2. at this point, you've lost some of those who you held, and now they're free to act...

It helps, a little, but slotting those in CC can be a timeconsuming thing that you may want to put elsewhere. I do it cause I think it's neat to cheat the system a little.

I've got 3 Acc/Holds in my CC and it performs slightly better than it did with just holds.
  8. you know you could bind the w key to +forwad and put the emote after it right?

Like /bind w "+forward$$em flypose1" and you'll fly with flypose1 all the time (mostly, sometimes you tap w to get from old to the one you want) and you'll have no problem running since the emote only works on fly.

Also, you can randomize or do it in order by (don't know the exact command):
    /bind w "+forward$$flypose1$$load keybind file fly2.txt"
    and fly2.txt has:
    /bind w "+forward$$flypose2$$load keybind file fly3.txt"
and fly3.txt has flypose 3 with fly4.txt, ect....

Seems easier than a macro to me.

I use the first and have a macro that says "em flypose2" and 3 and 4 all seperate. That way I can swap in mid flight without autorunning or anything like that. My default is flypose1
  9. OH, and the limit thing (24 hours)

I like the idea that it's one HO per day and one Rare Recipe per day for Hami Raid.

Considering you can also get one SHO per day from STF or RSF and one (Rare Recipe?) per day, that's 2 per of each per day.

Not too unreasonable in my opinion.
  10. Note on the 50 instance cap and SG/VGs allowing 75 members...

When's the last time you had all 75 members of your SG/VG on at once. Usually (read:: almost always) there's alts in the ranks and usually (read:: alot) not everyone is 45+ in your SG/VG.

NOW, that being said, Coolition raids do come to mind as a reason to up the value, but I really think that 50 is sufficient.

And I like the Hami-off challenge where it's a race.

    I wanna see that.
  11. I've been thinking about the dev's "intended" solution to killing Hami, and thinking about it, I don't think it would work for the last what? year? two?

They buffed him so many times that if you tried that tactic, you'd wipe in an instant.

I do like the 50 max in a zone thing though. As long as Hami got sufficiently nerfed to a level where 50 could do it with reliability (given the right stratagy).

For future reference Devs, please don't buff Hami to the point where we CAN"T beat him with your intended stratagy. That or put hints into the game where we can learn how to do it.

....OHHHHHHH storyarch idea! "How to Beat Hami 101" Requires ALOT of work, and you could even tie it in somehow like some other games do where you have to do that arc to even ENTER the hive/abyss.... You know, like getting a Key or something....

Nah, people would most likely complain about that if you did it.
  12. The "only in sprint" idea I'm against. I was planning on putting one of those into Quickness and one into Sprint. I I could get more, I was shooting for putting one of each in Quckness, Sprint, Superspeed (hehe even MORE stealth) and Combat Jumping.

I REALLY hope these don't get pulled, I can put up wiht not being able to solo an escort mish if I have one in Quickness, that would be my own fault.

The solution is to just have someone on a team escort the npc. I honestly think that if you want to put a +stealth in a power that's ALWAYS going to be on (like an auto power) then you should be ready to pay the price until a workaround is available. I was ready to, to me it's like a blaster complaining about agro on a team when he's using all AoE or Cone attacks that hit all the mobs.

If you want to play that way, you're GOING to get some negative side effects. Work around it.

Just my opinion, but I do like some of the ideas here, like NPC's ignoring stealth by having a HUGE perception bonus. Shouldn't be TOO hard to code I'd think. Then again, I don't know how NPC's are coded anyway. Do they even have stats?
  13. My only real question is what is the +stealth bonus?

is each set like having the power (gasp!) stealth?

So 2 would be like Invis? 3 would be stalker level? 4 would be OMGBBQWHERE'DHEGO!?!?!?!
  14. My FA/EM Tank thanks you for your post.

Nope, sorry, that's like saying that only African Americans can say the "N" word.

Nobody should say the "N" word.

Back on topic of the toon, it's a 50/50 IMO. 50% of me thinks it's funny and/or ok to do. 50% of me thinks it's in poor taste and/or shouldn't have been done.

Therefore, being of 2 minds about it, I say leave the toon alone, and ignore it. It's either in memory of (i.e. dedicated to) that individual, or it's a cry for attention. I say giving it more attention is not needed as that's what the person wants in the negative view, and it's ok in the first view. So, ignore it.
  17. Pollution

    "Moral Combat"

I thought that was a really inneffective use of Statesman. They should have used the Nerf Punch from the CoV trailer if they wanted to help prove their point. Out of context it looks pretty violent.

The one they used looked....kinda patriotic (go figure).

I give that video a 1/10 for effectiveness. It was stupid.
  18. Athlon x64 3200+ 2.0 processor (Overclocked with H2O cooling at 2.75)
Geforce 7600 GS (BFG Overclocked stock)
1Gig RAM (DDR400 clocked at 404 from CPU OC)
    19" LCD Screen
Game directory installed on a 160Gig SATA HDD (45% full, fully defragged every day)
    Windows Pro x64
Latest drivers on every piece of hardware in my rig.

Average at 15FPS running at 1024x768 with Nvidia running 4x AA and 8x AF.
    Settings at reccomended otherwise.
Turned on LoD and got a full 3 FPS outside increase.

I'm not running a cheap PC and I have to say this is rather ANNOYING.

BTW, the windows install is FRESH (like yesterday fresh). Nothing is killing performance on the OS or software side.
  19. There is no Acc Penalty in DM.

Most of the powers have the standard 75% accuracy rating.

It just FEELS like it misses more often than other sets.

I tested this (again) after reading up on these numbers this morning with Hero Stats. Fighting +0 mobs (minions) The average hit for all the powers was 75% (I removed the Acc's from each power). ToF had like 89% accuracy.

It FELT like I missed alot, but truth be told, I didn't. The statistics showed that I hit 3/4 of the time which is spot on the accuracy.
ToF missed a whole 1% more, but since I only tested it for 100 hits instead of 200, I'm comfortable saying it's correct as well.

SO, without doubt in my mind, there is NO Acc penalty for DM.
  20. Funny you should mention that. With finals over, I was actually working on mine already (started yesterday).

It's liike your psychio or something.....

  21. I'm still getting debt

    And I activated the power

    is it broke
  22. I miss the old one. Joe Chott's CoH planner was the bomb. But yeah, Sherk's is the best for installation use. I like SuckerPunch's for when I'm at a net cafe with the guys playing around in CoH or something.

Only problem with Sherk's is that for some odd reason it uses ALOT of graphics power. It takes a long time to start and load characters. I'm pretty sure it's the enhancement pics.
  23. I put 2 in my CC and let me tell you right here and now, it works.

There's a DEFINATE difference. After about 15 seconds, all the mobs are held in any spawn I jump into, including the bosses.

SO, it's definately something to consider.

I assume it is a bug. Would be one hell of a nerf.

I have 3 taunts slotted and can stand in a group of grey mobs without them caring a whit.

    [/ QUOTE ]

Yeah, I've tracked down the source of this bug and am working on a fix. It's fairly insidious, though, and is going to take a couple days of work to get it straightened out.

EDIT: FYI, it affects all auto-taunt effects from Tankers and Brutes with only one or two exceptions.

That explaines why BA wasn't working to keep agro off my team last night.
