Flight poses for Issue 9 (Only on test now)

The fly poses are functional on live servers with Issue 9.

Typing this in the chat window will make a Macro which is a button that shows up in your power tray labeled "Fly" and you can click like any other power. (However, the button does not change size so does not offer any kind of reference for powers that recharge.) You can change "Fly" to anything you want, but only a short word will be readable.

/macro Fly "$$e flypose4$$e flypose3$$e flypose2$$e flypose1$$autorun 1$$powexectoggleON Fly"

To make it so pressing a key will do the same thing, change the first two words where "F" is the name of any key you want to use. If you make a mistake with this, you can go into the Options menu to rebind any of the common keys.

/bind F "$$e flypose4$$e flypose3$$e flypose2$$e flypose1$$autorun 1$$powexectoggleON Fly"

For Peacebringers, instead of using "$$powexectoggleON Fly", use "$$powexectoggleON Energy Flight".

Pressing this macro/button once will turn on Fly and put you in the default, "old" pose (which is why it takes more than one press to get into one of the new poses) and set your character to autorun (move forward automatically). Pressing it repeatedly after that will cycle through the new flight poses without making you stop flying and keep you moving forward. Note that the poses execute in reverse order, which is why I listed pose 4 first. To stop moving, just tap whatever button you use to move forward or backward once.

For the Macro, you can right-click the button in your power tray to edit any part of the macro except for the name so if there are any poses you don't like, just edit it out of the macro; you don't need to delete the entire macro. If you want a new name for your button, you need to re-enter the original command and use the name you want instead of "Fly". You can delete any macro from your tray, but you cannot automatically retrieve it. (For much, much more information on Keybinds and Macros.)

The flyposes are:

flypose1 -- two arms straight forward; the "I" formation
flypose2 -- right fist forward, left fist near left shoulder; the flying "J"?
flypose3 -- both arms held forward at a wide angle; the flying "Y"
flypose4 -- both arms bent slightly and held out to the sides; he flying "W"?

The flyposes are actually emotes and can be entered as an emote at any time while flying by typing: /e flypose1. Currently, these poses cannot be activated while using Hover, but you can activate them while using Fly, then turn on Hover; Hover will not interrupt the poses. I do not know of a command for what is currently the default flypose (both arms back) but it is still the default pose.

I have no idea if this works with Group Fly or Group Energy Flight; any takers?

Thanks for the binds/macros.

Quick question, have you tested these poses with the raptor pack, goldbricker rocket pack, sky raider flight pack, etc...?

i.e. is this possible and does it work:
/bind F "$$e flypose4$$e flypose3$$e flypose2$$e flypose1$$autorun 1$$powexectoggleON Raptor Pack"

The only temp power I had to check this with is Raptor Pack from the Atlas Park Mayhem/Safeguard mission and it does work. I would expect it to work with any other clone of Fly as long as you put the exact name as it appears in your Power list. (It also works for any other toggles such as Unyielding, for those of you who are new to macros/keybinds.)

It should be like when you choose Fly, you choose your flight pose right then and there, and you can go to any trainer and change it.

that way the broadcast and Help channels wont be flooded with people asking what the flight pose binds are..

It seems that the system remembers which pose you used last and will cycle through them from the last pose used: If you used flypose3 last and you are not flying, pressing it once will put you in the "old" pose, the second press would put you in flypose4 and subsequent presses would continue to cycle through them.

you know you could bind the w key to +forwad and put the emote after it right?

Like /bind w "+forward$$em flypose1" and you'll fly with flypose1 all the time (mostly, sometimes you tap w to get from old to the one you want) and you'll have no problem running since the emote only works on fly.

Also, you can randomize or do it in order by (don't know the exact command):
/bind w "+forward$$flypose1$$load keybind file fly2.txt"
and fly2.txt has:
/bind w "+forward$$flypose2$$load keybind file fly3.txt"
and fly3.txt has flypose 3 with fly4.txt, ect....

Seems easier than a macro to me.

I use the first and have a macro that says "em flypose2" and 3 and 4 all seperate. That way I can swap in mid flight without autorunning or anything like that. My default is flypose1

This is meant for people who might not be familiar with macros and keybinds but want to use the different flight positions.

What was originally posted makes use of all the new flight positions with a single button in a power tray or a single key. It doesn't require any significant knowledge of keybinds and how to call keybind files--which can be problematic just to get them working, let alone dealing with the lag they can cause.

I tried this for awhile and it sometimes led to awkward posing while stopping or landing, so I moved the flight pose to the "r" (autorun) key instead and I prefer that. But thanks for the idea!

(Guess I should add the bind for anyone else who might want to try it: /bind r "autorun 1$$e flypose1")

I personally prefer to put the flypose on the W key itself, so it activates when I tap forward while flying. For example:

/bind w "+forward$$e flypose2"

Since the emote only activates while flying, binding it to your forward key really does not change anything at all when you're not flying.

I keep hoping that fly poses get added as an option to the Fly power...
