haven't tested all permutations of avatar height.
On two stalker staff fighters i rolled on live server, the Vanguard boot is stretching inwards at the toe, on the left foot. This graphical error didn't occur on a staff fighting brute that i rolled.
The result looks like the metal toe-cap is melting. Avatar height for these stalkers is around 5'7", in case that helps with replication. Remaining undeleted stalker is "Hou Mi Shu" on virtue server.
Okay, just asked people to look at my left foot, and they see the "melting" as well... not a client side processing Bug

Havent read the entire thread, but:
Objective:
Gravity Control- with the changes to the way the set works, spamming propel and the Lift(?) power ends up with a really really annoying and spammy/repetitive sound, turn them down at the least, or move them into a lower frequency range so they are not as jarring over a long period of time. Throw them through a dual band filter then run a compressor with a really low ceiling on anything over 3.5k, everything under that is fine.
Subjective:
create two extra sound files to be randomly used for every similar power(blasts, melee, aoe, buff, debuff, thematic) in a set. Watch as players rejoice when a power does an unexpected sound every 20th(?) activation.
Sonic:
Sonic sounds do not actually have to be "sound based", in as much as an amplifier hum can make people think of electric guitars, activation periods for powers can be used to playback audio "set ups".
for example, take the snipe from Sonic blast(not even sure if sonic blast even exists lol :P ) having a sound file that builds in volume and bandwidth PRIOR to the power actually going off, and then cutting to a white noise fizz during the power firing animation, would be far more impressive and awe inspiring (IMHO) then having a person open their mouth and firing off the power, accompanied by wibbley wobbley zap/screech noises.
Using Sound Pressure to damage things can be achieved via both ends of the spectrum, but ultimately if you have enough Sound Pressure Level you can theoretically shake anything to pieces, so frequency range is less important then raw Pressure. Alluding to the power necessary to achieve this kind of destruction, can be achieved by actually Dropping audio volume. The ideal would be that when this hypothetical Sonic Snipe finally does go off, all players in the vicinity would be momentarily Unable to Hear, and thusly ... silence would be far more eloquent, for displaying such a power, then Noise!
Oh and if you did make a Sonic Snipe drop everyones ingame audio levels... as much as I would think it was cool I'm sure some people would feel violated somehow, perhaps over a loss of control(?) .... but in the end it would be less violating then horrible noise ... esp. horrible high frequency noise (which incidently is far more damaging to our hearing). -
>.< i took the psychic power pool for my fire/dark, Mink link and the anti mez powers being mules for LoTG global Rech IO's.
My fire/kin troller loves Spring attack.
-
My fire/dark dom is really playable, the fire aura and engulfing darkness are my damage staples, whilst i weave in ranged attacks at foes not close to me.
Also, on the subject of teleport:
Stealth and a stealth io in teleport And Fire Controls Smoke power= win for stealthing Any mob.
and,
I use Teleport to switch ranges, its something that i started doing to counteract getting shoved my MM pets or melee, there by losing position. An off shoot of combat movement based off of teleport, is my standard combo for my fire/dark dom-
Smoke, teleport to direct centre of a pack(using the one-click Teleport Bind), while Teleport is animating I queue up my Aoe Hold/Stun, then Aoe Immob, Engulfing Darkness. Take a second to ST Hold/Immob. any loose mobs, and fairly much anything outside of Bosses is dead within 8' of me. If not Engulfing Darkness is back off Rech.
Fire's ST Immob. is my ATO set mule, its rech. is down to just over 1 sec, so it allows fast stacking of the +15% damage proc, just weave it in-between every attack.
=D -
i've been getting a bug where enhancements, regardless of type, won't slot into powers sometimes. dropping them back onto the bar then picking them up to place them again, seems to fix it.
-
Base upkeep, is now an incentive towards making players go/stay Vip.
Wall items and floor items might need to be thicker then nil. In any case vote=(+1) for both, as well as various window views and wall mounted decorative doors(they add to the illusion of space, even if they are only decorative). -
there is of course and elegant solution to ALL of these problems:
Reduce the variety of Salvage, cut the diversity in half, and suddenly base storage is adequate, individual character personal and vault storage is adequate, Auction house supply and demand equate at a closer ratio. -
If it helps, I can get to character select on virtue, after quing, but when i try to log onto a character, i get the "Cannot find Map" message after being booted back to login.

Quote:oh thank lordy i'm not alone!Hello! I've been having the strangest problems with CoH since last week.
-No animations for powers about 50% of the time. Mine or critters
-Critters sometimes port around the screen as though I'm lagging
-In Trials I lose my league and team windows at random times. It's like I'm not on any team yet other league members still see me on their team and I can still see and use league chat.
-I DON'T stutter when I'm moving, which makes me think it's not lag related?
-Sometimes it tells me my toggles that are running aren't. I constantly don't know what powers have come back up for use as it just tells me they are all ready to be clicked even after I just used them
-
although I'm on a mac, ive had some troubles using the launcher, fairly similar symptoms to what you're describing.
My stone age work around is to launch CoH by double clicking the App. from my programs list.
This fixed the problem ive been having with CoH not launching properly....... -
okay just logged in... so far at server select.
solution?
opened CoH via doubleclicking the program from the list of harddrive contents, and By Not using the NCSoft Launcher.
Which is something i've had to do alot recently, as a few days ago the NCSoft Launcher started being funny, and only opening CoH long enough for the Program to list as running(icon appears in the sidebar/Dock), ... before CoH would unexpectedly .... not open (thereby disappearing from the Dock (mac)) -
" You must fill out the account and password fields to log in to your account!"
is the message i get upon attempting to log into my account -.-
on a side note... this was found after the game froze repeatedly, force quitting being the only way i could try to get back into the game.
I thought the game freezing might be limited to my brute Dog Mode on Virtue, so switched to my tanker, I had the game in window mode for the brute, but kept it in full screen for the tanker... the game didnt freeze up for the tanker, well it didnt freeze up after 20 seconds or so like it was for the brute...
Attempting to relog(the successful times) incurred the "Your account is logged in" message.
After the game froze for my tank, i got the " You must fill out the account and password fields to log in to your account!" message, whilst having the named fields filled in mind you >.<
apologies if my post is not to standard. -
My Fire/Kin controller left the flight pool, for Spring attack and the immob/hold prot from CJ and Acrobatics.
What it means for my troller, is that, once every 45 seconds or so, i can leap into a fresh pack of mobs, knocking half of them off their feet, giving me a head start on debuffing them, and buffing me, with the added benefit of placing my troller at the centre of a spawn, where Hot Feet can do the most, and without alerting the pack to my presence till (for them) its too late.

Quote:Def. Sweep is the first thing i use in my attack chain (TW/WP brute, lv 47), I've stacked melee defence up towards +45% on top of my toggles, that's with 2 +DEF SO's in DSw. I'm trying to untrain that reflex for my damage spec, but the +Melee DEF buff is great for the tank spec.I can see it being skippable on some builds at 50, but the Defensive Sweep power is great for building MO. You have to do it somehow..so why not use a cone which gives MORE chances to hit something, and giving a defense boost?
As someone above posted, I now rarely notice the slow swings, momentum is announced before the attacks hit, so if it pops (or not) i know which power to activate accordingly.
The one thing i have noticed, after respeccing my tank build out of Tactics, is that +15% acc (SO'd) really helped alot >.<, but as my brute accrues more IO set bonuses, I'm slowly clawing back out of that hole.
To counter the end-pig nature of momentum, I chose WP, because of Recovery. Recovery and stamina are 3 slotted, and the energy EPP= Superior Conditioning (2 slotted) and Physical Perfection (2x END Mod, 2x Heal). Over longer fights his 4+End/second can take a hit still, but that really just means using Rend Armor and Arc of Destruction about half as much as when I'm just swinging crazy-kill-em-all.
At one point i had all three passive Recovery powers 3 slotted, but i have been experimenting with slots alot, trying to find a balance between recov/regen/res/def/damage. The Brutes Damage spec is alot simpler to manage... Rend and Arc both have 2xDam, 2xEND Red. Recovery Passives all 3 slotted, and IO sets aimed at +damage, recharge is handled via Hasten, as END is noo problemo!!!

Quote:I'm guessing knockbacks from jets of water, holds involving columns of water gushing down, single target/multi-target globe of water drowning(DoT+hold?),could have a tidal wave AoE stun!*Water Control - they've said no b/c of graphics requirements [cop out answer i think] but have recently added: bubble aura that is quite watery, the hydra powers from sewer trial also quite watery, and there are the several water based leviathan mastery powers. mix with a bit of the kinetic meelee/ dark aura graphics and i'd say you can make a water set pretty easily. Tunnel Rat i'm looking at you!
IMHO water would probably play alot like earth control.
Quote:*Animal Control [as opposed to Beastly Warriors potential for MM's] - the feel of this would be pretty great. holds with swarms of small animals, stuns with charging stampedes, pets from the new four-legged rigs. customization would alter the skins of the attacks from dark, woodland, desert, swamp, fantasy, mecha, elemental.
Quote:*Gadget Control - compiled from the numerous in-game gadgetry powers to create a new set. might be a lower dmg control set if they use web grenades lol.
Quote:*Weapon/Armory Assault [with potential for customizable weapons, also altered to fit blaster secondary] i already proposed this set in Lady Jade's suggestion thread a page or two back. really really easy to make following the outline i proposed. broadsword/mace/bow/dagger set. archaic feel. something along the lines of Dual Pistols ammo attacks, except with various weapons adding the status effects, Mace stun proc, dagger +rech minor DoT proc, sword crit proc, bow changes attacks to ranged without status effects.
Quote:*Artillery Assault [based off above guideline from other post but includes DP or Assault Rifle mixed with other gadgets and devices, shruiken] contemporary feel. ... not sure how would work inside buildings though
(notice how i didnt push my personal agenda by unfairly rubbishing someone else's ideas?) =D -
Quote:I thought Radiation only had the one PBAoE heal...non-targetable? Least ways that is all my Corr has access to.The only problem is that it is giving no healing OR accuracy bonus at all. None. Heal with a single generic level 50 IO is buffed at 42.4%, which is the IO alone. Same goes for every power that takes accuracy.
It is giving the level shift.
This is on a Rad/Rad defender, VIP account. -
Quote:"I" don't buy stuff that I am not going to use. The things i'll use are those that fit into character concepts. Knowing there is a Dog pet, got me thinking of a Blind character that due to psychic ability does not need to maintain their guide dog on a leash, and in fact communicates non stop with their "buddy". Seems like a nifty Psi character to me.. andi might just get the dog to make that character!!.... Prior to thinkin on such things i was not going to get thedog... but i might now.I sure won't purchase that stuff, however, to give more precise "feedback" if it matters.
The issue is NOT about having something interesting for every player every week. I don't care much if what's on the store isn't interesting for me each week, however, i'd just like to see the good stuff being released instead of getting pushed back in the hope peoples will buy the other junk meanwhile.
The only decent thing (and i mean, stuff that looks worth its price and worth a weekly release) for the past 3 weeks has been the autumn aura for me. While i didn't buy it as i'm not interested, i'm actually fine with it and it's a decent item in the market.
The undead survival kit was an insult to anyone's intelligence, the dog is almost as bad though it had at least some dev time behind to justify 1/10th of the price (as i'm sure they'll release dozens of other useless pets on that rig to make some profit out of it anyway). Vanity item ? Hell i'll sure don't forget to make fun of anyone buying them and make some comments on the beast to make sure they think twice about buying such things later. They'll have a run for their money on being the laughing stock if they want to feel unique. Good thing, i've only seen one today on my server, and most of the peoples on the server chat were already making fun of it and adding that to the pile of useless stuff to avoid buying.
Though i'm just wondering what's the point currently: infuriate and alienate the VIP playerbase while making some profit on newcomers who don't realize the real value of such stuff ? Because right now releasing such "deals" while on top of that providing awful support and updates full of bugs is quite a sure way to do it. And each week i see more and more regular players disgusted and angry at the market.
So yeah for the very first time since i play this game i went from being confident and appreciating the Paragon team to feeling the same as in most other games. So now i just hope that the other new game coming out in december will drive all the free players and compulsive buyers away and bring some reality check to Paragon Studios when it comes to which part of the playerbase is worth pleasing, and where they'll get the money in the long run.
At least make some "sales" and use common sense for marketing, or just pretend to not be such a bunch of greedy marketing guys, because right now the only thing i get out of that shop is that the team behind it doesn't deserve ANY cent that i don't find necessary for what i really need. That's pretty much like these little shops were you step in, grab the only item you want then pay and leave fast with a bad feeling because you know you just got robbed and had no other choice, rather than the friendly one where you feel like staying a bit and look what's on sale because it looks nice, it's priced fairly and the seller is friendly enough. Not exactly a good feeling and hardly a viable plan once all the "buy it now" crowd will move to the next game with all the cool kids on it, imo.
Similarly I still havent gotten the CoT costume set. I'll need to see what it looks like a bit more and then maybe a week or a month from now, i might have an idea how to use it, THEN I will probably buy it.
I have certainly invested into the increased storage, and would infact love to see storage increases for Inspirations and Personal Vault storage. I have only bought the first increases to storage because of the price... but those increases have certainly made life much easier in-game ... I chuckle when a teamy has to "go sell" every second mission.
I will not rant about how this should be lower, or this should have more perks. I think it is much more constructive, to proffer my buying habits or motivations. If there was something I would suggest?
Base Packs.... lots of different flavoured base packs. I'd pay a gazillion points just for a Wallpaper pack with different prints, either double sided or made so can rotate and create Nice Thin Walls!!!.
Or Base Npc's bought as single character specific SG bound buys... make them randomly spawn in a door in-base and go on a random path every time someone zones into the base. Or tie them to an object, and give them a one-liner. You could sell different themed Npc's like Nurse, Doctor, Mehanic, Pilot, Doorman, Butler, Cop, Scientist!!!... bet people would buy Those no matter the price
Base pack: XXXX-room packs!!!.. a kitchen Pack with stoves, fridges, fruit bowls, plates in single, plates in stack horizontal, and plates vertically slotted. etc. Lounge room pack with a TV that shows the video feed of either rogue isles or Praetorian newsfeed loops..not sure if there are others in game(?). Bathroom Pack with a bath that has water in it!!.. A bed roompack with closets, beds, cushions, a rug or two!!!......
-.-
Those are things i would buy.... well those and a shapeshifter powerset

I sat back and watched some one RP berate the constant sewers teams for a good 2 hours a couple of days ago. It took me a bit to realise what really pee-d me off about this behavior.
They were cajoling the sewer teams to get out and Fight the Good Fight. To Go Save the Innocents from Evil!!....re-iterating at intervals that there was so much more to see then Atlas Park and its sewers...
2+ hours of this??....
Whilst this person was taking time out from fighting crime and saving the planet, it was kinda funny that they spent said time trying to stop other hero's from fighting off the never ending sewer invasion right under Atlas Park...
I entered conversation with this person, and they insisted that these players were wasting their time, that such players would never understand the intricacies of the greater game. And whilst for the most part I can agree, that anyone who only runs the sewers is missing out on a great deal, its possible to say that, most of the people who play for longer then a week will indeed do more then run sewers, many will join missions teams or get into the odd TF.
The fact is, for me, that most people want to see an appreciable experience gain/minute. That if you don't offer them an alternative, they will take the path of least resistance.
When i said as much to this person, I was told to shush.... repeatedly.....in partial caps.
It seemed that they preferred berating players for perceived bad form, then actually helping them to find good form.
Experienced players aside, as they will have a game plan, how new players play and learn a game, is a combination of get go and peer influence.
Don't sit around telling people how to play ... show them what it is you want them to see. -
base builders bundle:
Wall paper- basic themed wall papers, of various colours... nothing too fancy, but stackable to create walls. 100pp per colour/design
Carpets- as above but horizontal plane instead of vertical. 100 pp per colour/pattern.
1200 pp for the pack, not everyone will be interested in purchasing such a bundle, the cost should reflect that this is a niche market.
Base Npc pack:
Nurse, Doctor, Cop, Security Guard, Ghost, Butler, Pet Dog, Pet Cat. Limit 4 per base, Npc's tied to either a point in a room, a room as a whole, or set to 30 minute random Door spawn with random pathing. Bundle 1200 pp or 200 pp each. -
just put a limit on the number of Npcs/type of Npcs:
say limit of 4.
now you can inhabit the entry room, medibay, controlroom and one other room.
or..
make one of those 4 into a patrolling guard/pet animal/ghost.
wouldn't tie up too many resources and the limit would make people think hard over placement.
.......
then all the devs need to do is port over the type options, and allow us to tie the Npcs to a location:
type Medical-random spawn male/female nurse or doctor
entry room- butler/receptionist/hologram greeter
control/power rooms- scientists or overalled technicians or either gender-randomly changes or set gender/type.
workshop- same as control/power rooms
patrolling Npc's- night watch person, police officer, pet dog(or wolf)/pet cat (house or lion/tiger/panther).... The main problem with a patrol would be getting stuck on geometry of not being able to find a path. Perhaps, instead of the "tie to map point" of the other Npc's a Patroling Npc could randomly shift from doorway to doorway every 15 minutes, and have a random path... thus allowing it to appear in allparts of a base with out the hassles of getting lost inside geometry.
Needless to say each Npc Model should be bought either as 1600+points for the pack or individually for 300-400 points, from the Paragon Market - the price reflecting the Dev time that would be needed in such content.
Also whether or not these would be personal base items or reuseable generic base items.. I amnot sure :/ -
imac here,
same issue of Screen Flash, it only happens if i am moving around a bit, or if i load onto a new map it will happen a bit at first, then only if i move around.
I managed to get the flash to change from black to purple/blue to white by adjusting various graphics settings, none of which actually stopped the flashing.
On my Kin with sprint, ninja run and siphon speed all up, the flashing takes on strobe intensity. -
2/3 times when i have the paragon market open ingame... my mac will freeze up,, this Never happens using any other program or game ..... sometimes it will even freeze up from the character select screen when i have the Market open..... really really annoying...

everything runs fine whether windowed or full screen, until i open safari, and run in windowed mode, then, if i tab over to safari- like when looking up exploration badges(using http://wiki.cohtitan.com/wiki ) ... when i go back to my CoH screen, the graphics freeze up, this never used to happen. It certainly makes looking for exploration badges tedious, as i have to write everything down, THEN log into CoH, to get it all done.
The graphics freeze up, the game is still running happily otherwise, after a split second of coming back to CoH from safari window. -
in praetoria...seems everyone in Imperial city (at least) got disconected.

as of date of posting:
had huge problems logging in today- lot of lag between the login page and the server page and the character select page, tested my connection, and the issue seems to be on your server side of things.
during any step of the login process a random disconnect with the pop message "Lost Connection to DB Server" is likely, posting this after i finally got online, did a few missions, then got disconnected leaving a mission. Where upon it took another 10 minutes to relog.
