The Build a Base Bundle Challenge

Just for e's and whizz (I am not expecting any base love any time soon) build a Base Pack Bundle that you would buy and you think the Dev's might actually make. So the trick would be to find the magic middle ground between something good enough to make enough people want it and easy enough to make it worth the development time. So anything totally new that takes lots of development is ruled out.

I think thats easier said than done, the three things I would definitely pay for all have "issues". Recipe storage could impact their market sales. And a market or AE interface has technical issues loading all those resources into a new instance.

Having said that I could see something like:

Super Group Recipe Storage: 800 Paragon Points:
Grants you access to device that can be connected to your base computer which grants storage of recipes. Requires control and power.

Super Group Social Items Bundle: 400 Paragon Points:
Purely decorative items from places like Pocket D and the Easter Egg room in Faultline i.e. bar pieces, pool table, darts board. Maybe some basketball and football pieces to encourage the sale of the sports emotes?

What would tempt you to part with some Paragon Points?

Vault Inventory Display (200pp):
Allows you to view the content of any personal vault of characters on the same accounts.

Vault Exchange (800pp):
Allows you to interact (place and retrieve items) from any personal vault of characters on the same accounts.

You've already mentioned possible problems with AE and Market things in bases, but I would love an NPC/Item that lets you edit costumes. Other ideas would be like 800pp for a discount on all plots/rooms/items or the ability to place doors next to eachother.

Of course, these probably require new tech so at this point I'd be happy to pay 400pp for more decorative items.

Ditto. I would not have thought a base tailor would carry the same problems as the market though, standard code rant applies. How much would you be willing to pay though?

How would this work?

Would buying a base item let you put in one SG base? All your SG bases?

What would happen to bases that had your purchased item in them if you left the SG?

I would definitely buy an "item" pack with lots more base details.

Even release small 200 point "packs" with themes: Nightclub, Sportsbar, Space Station, etc.

+1 for the Tailor NPC though it's not such a huge problem with Trainers now offering the facility. Pricing would have to be careful on this, as it's almost as easy to jump out the base and go to a trainer.

I'd like to see an expansion to the craftable Telepad, with Advanced pads that allow more than one beacon to be attached to a pad. This would help small bases and/or solo/casual SGs.

Not sure how hard it would be, but I'd like to be able to add NPCs too. Maybe a bartender, or a scientist? Even if you had to create the NPC in (for example) MA, the saved NPC file could then be loaded as an "object" in the base. Perhaps there could even be one line dialogues you could write for them too.

How about an MA access workstation? - I know you can get the accolade - would that defeat the object of earning it?

I'd also pay good points for offline invites to SG (maybe by sending a token through email now that we have that functionality?) as well as offline promotions/demotions? too. Thinking about the 1-man SG here. 200 points for 5 invites?

That's my tuppence!

I probably would too. But I'd be annoyed at the same time. Regardless of things Posi has said, offline SG invites should have been done ages ago

If you were buying base items with paragon points I assume it would work exactly like buying an enhancement. Spend the points and get 1. Use as you will, but you only get 1 unless you spend the points again. Which is why I think buying a recipe would probably work better.

Erm, actually the Basic pads take 2 each, unless you use the 50k 1x2 Teleport Pad room which can only take 1 Beacon and 1 Teleporter.

1200pp - Rogue/Vigilante Teleporters
Allows adding beacons to villain groups with destinations in Paragon city, and to hero groups with destinations in the rogue isles.
*note: requires adding the ability to get supergroup badges for opposing side.

40-120pp - individual items from the proposed entertainment pack (video games, bars, pool tables, etc)

400pp - NPC civilian model access (max 2/base)

120pp - additional NPCs allowed

I know, brought up before, obstacles, blah blah blah. Still want 'em and that's what I'd pay.

Steampunk themed power and control items; telepads, storage, etc.

For that matter, Magitech themed power and control items, even. Both Modern and Dungeon Punk variants.

A "Water" set filled with various pools and fountains. One thing I'm unsure of is how SG packs would be handled. Would it actually be pieces/character items or would it be unlocking the ability to use them?

There are times when I log on that I’ve missed the GM notifications & would like a base item that displays what the ongoing server events are & the zone/instance.

Example:

Event/Zone/Timestamp

Jurassik has spawned *Crey’s Folly *08:30pm

Zombie Invasion *Talos Island 3 *08:31pm

Rikti Mothership shields are down *RWZ 2 *08:37pm

Server Event Status base item (600 Paragon Points)

Personally...
I think the best option would be to have them as Personal Items, like the Badge unlockables, Craftable and Rewards versions are, these can only be placed from a character/account with the items unlocked, and they stay with the SG/VG.

They can be moved or deleted by anyone with editing ability, but only replaced if you have them unlocked.

Note:
Awaiting fix for the Global rewards version being useable more than once, then once that is in place these pack options could be tied into the Global Personal Items list.

base builders bundle:
Wall paper- basic themed wall papers, of various colours... nothing too fancy, but stackable to create walls. 100pp per colour/design
Carpets- as above but horizontal plane instead of vertical. 100 pp per colour/pattern.
1200 pp for the pack, not everyone will be interested in purchasing such a bundle, the cost should reflect that this is a niche market.

Base Npc pack:
Nurse, Doctor, Cop, Security Guard, Ghost, Butler, Pet Dog, Pet Cat. Limit 4 per base, Npc's tied to either a point in a room, a room as a whole, or set to 30 minute random Door spawn with random pathing. Bundle 1200 pp or 200 pp each.

I love the NPC ideas but i think they should be tied to the room size & types, for instance in a med bay have ability to place 1 nurse or doctor, yet in the trauma center have the ability to place 4-5 NPC's for the overall appeal of the setting.

would pay what ever they asked for this :-) even if meant say (1600pp) for the ability to place and then prestige for each individual placed say (5000 prestige per)

For the water sets: fountains different types as well as being able to place water levels in bases even dirty water, would pay (1200pp-1600pp)

If your gonna play follow the leader just make sure the leader is taking you where you want to go.

I'd pay 400 points if they took all the various items used in [Propel] and the alakazamreact emote and made them available for bases.

I would also consider paying PP for NPCs, but only if I could:

  • Edit their costume
  • Edit their name
  • Edit their default stance
  • Edit what they say when clicked on, including being able to choose from stuff civvie NPCs say such as the current time and total time played.
That would be the bare minimum needed to get me to pay for NPCs in bases. Extra stuff is good too, of course.

These are all great ideas....

I know I would buy a "fountain pack" (water stuff), a "recreation games pack" (pool tables, arcade game cabinets, airhockey table), or a "Casino pack" (slots, card tables, craps, roulette...).

However, I think the simplest and easiest "base" based thing they could sell is prest. I know they would make a fortune off me with that alone.

Maybe offer 100K prest for 20 or 40 points, 2 mil prest for 500 points. Sure to be a popular, often repeat purchase item.

Another idea I had that I have discussed a few times with some other base designers is the idea of offering personal "lairs" for points.

The way a "lair" would work is that it would be like a pre-made, one room base. There could be several themes, like "Hidden Cave", "Space Base", "Mad Doctor's Lab", "Dorm Room", "Space Station", "Fallout Shelter", "Penthouse Suite", "Nightclub", "Local Bar", etc. The lair would be a 6x6 or 8x8 room (or various shapes maybe) that would come pre-decorated with several decorative items, and could include some of the key "functional" features of SG bases (depending on the special lair type) such as salvage storage, TP pads, medical rezzer, etc. The lair would be set up with some unique decorative items not normally found in the editor. Someone brand new to editing or with zero interest in it could simply use the lair as is, no editing required, ready for use right out of the box, but as they earned personal lair prest, they could add more decorative items, storage or TP pads, and so on, or if they wanted to edit, they could re-arrange or erase items in their lair or change wall and floor colors, and such...

The lair concept could be used in many ways. It could be used as a way for non-VIPs to "unlock" bases in a limited way (a lair would always be a single room base, they could add items to it, but never add rooms - unlocking a lair would allow you to join a SG, but not make one). It could be used to promote SGs... make it so that a personal lair can only be accessed via a portal found in the entrance room of a SG, so anyone who wanted a personal lair would have to join a SG first to access it, thus promoting SGs in the process. As you play in SG mode, for every point of prest you earn for the SG, you earn an equal amount of "Lair Prest" for your own use in your lair.

Also, as a VIP perk, perhaps give all VIPs one free lair of their choice.

For those that already have access to making bases, if they buy a lair pack, than that lair room and all the items that come in it become unlocked for them to use in the editor. In the decorative rooms section of the editor, they could now have 6x6 or 8x8 lair rooms available to be added to any normal base. The lair rooms could have unique stats - for example, a Lab might allow TP pads and medical rezzers in it, A Space Base room might allow both power and control items in the same room, and so on. The unique items from those rooms would be unlocked in the editor to be added to any room.

Perhaps a unique NPC could be included with each room as an extra incentive for people to buy them. Buy the cave, get the butler. The nurse from the lab, dancers from a club, bartender from the bar, etc. As suggested already, the NPCs could also be bought seperately, sort of like costumes or emotes are. As would the unique items from the lair rooms - rock wall sections from the cave lair, windows that show "outer space" from the Space Base or Space Station lair, a fancy water fountain from the Penthouse Suite, and so on.

Introducing lairs would help SGs gain membership and prest earners, as they could only be accesed via a SG, and it would give all those players that want a simple personal base a chance to do that without having to build a whole SG base. Which just gave me another idea.. make one of the lair types "Public Storage Unit" which would be a room that could hold 10-20 storage bins and a crafting table, but no TP pads or rezzers. Likely to be the number one choice for soloists.

Probably a few kinks to work out with the idea, but I would love some suggestions on how to make it better. If we can polish it up enough, perhaps the devs might give it some serious consideration. I know they had planned on offering us a personal apartment option at one point, this would be something along those lines that could make them a lot of additional money...

I know I would likely buy all the lair packs, just to to have everything unlocked. Though, as it was my idea, I think the least they could do is throw me a total set of everything for free...

I had a great idea for the NPCs!

(Sorry if this has already been suggested...)

Rather than make them anything "specific" (Doctor, Bartender, Maid), just make them link to a custom critter creator like AE has. So we could even make NPC versions of SG members if we wanted, that hung around the base full time.

Perhaps a simple script could be added to attach an emote to them, such as Dance, or RandomWalkAroundRoom, or RandomWalkAroundBase...

Just a thought...
