I tried taking advantage of this last time but failed to read the actual date of the offer at the time, I thought 'sale announced' meant 'sale was on' and only got the regular 12 months without two extra free.
Now that I learned my lesson, I'll definitely take advantage of the extra months offer like I should've done. I also do the yearly pre-pay for general convenience and the discount offered.
If this offer happens more than once a year I'm quite certain I'll end up having more years paid then there will of service at this rate! -
I know the Black Friday sale of VIP starter kits for $0.99 starts on the 25th of November. I'd imagine since the only qualifier for the code is that your friend you're referring only pay for one month of VIP at least, it shouldn't matter if the month is $15 or $0.99, they'd still get a month's worth of VIP.
But I'm no authority, so I can only guess logically at the issue. -
Yaay! I suppose that means they're not counted as 'temporary powers', which might lend itself the same immunity from Arena if I may speak optimistically. My squishies may stay less squishy from now on!

A question about the accolade powers like [The Atlas Medallion], [Task Force Commander] and [Geas of the Kind Ones], not the day-job accolade powers.
I know that once obtained, the powers gained from the special accolades are 'permanent', so you can SSK down to Lv1 and still gain their benefits. But I've been curious on what degree these powers are permanent.
If I go into a Master Of...T/SF where temporary powers are disabled, or if I go into an Arena match where temporary powers are disabled. Do accolade powers count as temporary or inherent? It would be useful to know in case I ever run into a team who does the former, and the rare occasion of the latter.
Checked the ParagonWiki, I only know about the Lv1 accessibility. -
Warworks! I like the alternate designs for those clockwork and would be a nice expansion to the full-tech heroes and villains.
Trolls, mainly for my troll of course, but it would probably have to be a CoT style revamped version with a stronger theme. Horns and tusks for the win!
Crey. I like the gadgety stuff the agents use, and their tanks but once again, needs a revamp.
Primal Clockwork? They REALLY need a revamp, but would be cool to have brass/scrap robot characters instead of clean and reflective Clockwork.
Freakshow, similar to Primal clocks, the grungy/punk tech wouldn't go amiss.
Tsoo! I want guys to have sandals and funny hats!
Cimeorans, the entire population has pieces that would work with fantasy characters, though things like the minotaur only became usable in recent additions. Still things like a shield back item and leather bands to get.
Certain Primal PPD costume pieces, like the funky hawaiian shirt.
Heck, even the citizens have certain things about them not available to players, I'm not talking about the fat guys and gals, but some faces look nice on them! -
Oh! One thing I wish they'd do is add costume piece specific patterns to those missing them. For instance, Electron or whatever it's called, with the circuits. That could use a pattern so you can highlight the circuits a different colour to the base.
Medieval armour looks like it could look a lot less monotone with a pattern covering the ornate regions of the plates.
What else...? Insect Armour, Stone. A number of costume textures could use a pattern to enable natural two-toning. -
I think it was Noble Savage or Back Alley who asked the forumites about updating existing costume pieces with a higher resolution version. It was universally agreed that major changes needed additional content and not replacements, also that some low-res pieces worked because they were so bland they could've been anything, and high-res doesn't do that it seems.
I have noticed a few pieces look 'better' as time has gone on, it's kind of a stealth patch but in a good way. I figure they'll update one or two pieces per patch until the entire original catalogue is up-to-date. That is, if I'm not imagining things.
Crey does need a update, blurry textures bug me. And it's not like there isn't a texture quality option to adjust down if you have a low memory computer. -
Quote:What's wrong with archetype saturation? It isn't like Blasters can't attack. The amount of AoE cataclysmic devastation and support-based buffs/debuffs could cause some serious harm to the other mobs.Edit: Seconds after asking the question, I came up with an answer: A queuing system would almost have to involve a way to identify characters' powers/etc so that you wouldn't just have 8 random blasters on a team or something along those lines - for some of the content, anyway.... and I'm pretty sure that having an arbitrary system deciding how you should play is wrong,Wrong,WRONG for City of Heroes.

I met Zamuel character to character one time! Sure, would be nice!

Then it's sort of official, the RMTers have caught onto the accessibility of a server-wide communication channel and are spamming the hell out of it. Sure you can remove help from your chat tabs but that just means Help gets runned-down and the new players will think less of the game for it, not to mention trick the gullible into a financially painful trap.
I think maybe I should forward this new to Zwilly and see if they could figure out an action plan. -
I'm doing my own thing on Virtue and I monitor the Help channel to help people and also participate in some conversations like the hilarious CoH slash-fiction pairings topic that got brought up yesterday (I'll spare you the details that could lead you up turning to Vigilantism).
But man, before I just saw the RMTers post locally inside Atlas' Wentworths building and once-in-a-while occasional in ads in #help, but now RMTers are posting the same ad two or three times in a row every time they broadcast. Once-in-a-while was annoying but multiple times is plain bumping off more important or enjoyable discussions and questions!
Judging by the names of the RMTers, they don't last long, but it still bugs me. Help is naturally very helpful but because it's server-wide it means the RMTers can reach hero, villain and even praetoriaside at once. Worse than Broadcast!
----
But unless a super-intelligent AI can cull them before they make an account, or if it were legal to trace and destroy the source, we'll just have to deal with the dross for now.
But yeah, there were some crrraazy pairings in the slash/fiction topic though! Anybody remember the temporarily canon Tyrant/Dominatrix? lulzy lore stuff. -
Voted CO ... H!
I'll try to get some random people to vote for CoH too since it seems to be just a simple guest-vote between three people with no sign up required.
I don't think the game's been reviewed since Going Rogue, and Issue 21 and the buggy patch of 21.1 did have some nice additions. -
I don't see why this would create chronic hoarding that otherwise couldn't be done with salvage, inspirations and the like. Plus with recent base love and base possibilities, more functional items are welcome at this point!

Wait, wait...
A user named PL_Beggar, is asking where the new AE farms are now?
Self-referential? Coincidence? Who knows? -
Ah I see! The computer lets you enter that door I saw to the left that leads to the Hydra, okay cool.
I'll have to try to organise that trial sometime, confuse the DFBers :P -
I tried looking information up on Paragon Wiki, nothing conclusive appeared. Just recently I was on my favourite brute on Virtue and jumping around Atlas Park like the happy oversized superdine troll I was and I spotted a bunch of Hellions by a sewer entrance. I remember that before there was a DFB, there was the original sewer network and lo and below, the entrance still exists!
I went in and looked to my right, there's a inspiration vendor there too, and also the door to the Abandoned sewer network.
"I'll try to be hardcore and fight through the abandoned sewers", I thought, not having ever been inside for more than a second in the past. I was disappointed I out-leveled most of it, but it only made my journey in easier. Got a few explore badges with some interesting bits of lore written in them (all on paragon wiki I'm sure)
But right near the Hades Aspirant badge there was a unique room geometry located down a short slope. And an old computer system with a NPC bound box calling it the "Access Computer". I tried clicking it, nothing happened, I looked around, seemed like I was in the centre of the map.
-----
Having not found any information on Paragon Wiki I thought I'd ask.
What is the Access Computer? Is it used for a special taskforce or mission? Or is it like those strange contact NPCs that say something but otherwise don't give missions out. Do you think something interesting could be made to use it someday?
I think it would've been cool if it was literally a computer that controlled the server, enabling you to trigger all kinds of events, change variables summon entities. A computer that controlled Paragon City or the whole game. It's certainly out of the way enough, having to be around Lv36 to even-con enemies on the outer ring. But naturally that would be overpowered to the max, funny to think about though.
So yeah, did anybody even know about this? -

Quote:If you remember the whole risk vs. reward cha'bang regarding players gravitating towards the quickest and easiest option for rewards, putting in-game rewards for stuff you can buy in the market will give the players with patience and time the chance to get stuff for free whilst the lazier playerbase will just shell out cash because they "WANT IT NAOW!"Yep, guessed right.
Didn't seem like something they would do. They want people to buy things with Paragon Points, seemed counterproductive if they allow in game currency to do the exact same thing.
It would do the community spirit some good for it to be a truly hybrid model and let gamer instinct handle the 'why' would people buy market versions when they can get it free. Because there'll always be people wanting to pay to win* and that will help CoH on the financial side regardless.
* IOs aren't 'pay to win', but do offer an advantage to its users -
Quote:In before,We're constantly exploring many designs for possible implementation. In this particular case, we don't have any current plans on implementing this feature, and it showing on the vendor was a bug (if you look at the tooltip, it's obviously WIP).
While I love to see you guys theorize and speculate, I also believe it's important to set appropriate expectations. In this case, do not expect to see this feature in the immediate future.
HYPERSTRIKE
DENIED...!
Just with a fancier graphic that fills the screen.
But yeah, tis' a shame it's only an experiment and not a real feature, could've helped out those pre-T7 premium players with their IO problems -
Vigor is bugged? Aww.
I wanted to put that on my Superdine Troll brute, even if it wasn't mechanically superior to his build :< -
So free players can acquire reward merits without owning any extra paragon reward tokens? I thought they had to fill tier 4 to earn reward and vanguard merits if they're not a VIP.
If that restriction is still in place, it only really helps out those who haven't filled tier 7 for Perma-inventions and pointless to get a auction-house license because Tier 4 grants you perma-auction-house anyway.
It still opens up inventions a bit more, but it's still relatively restricted and judging from the amount of merits, extremely expensive. You'd probably have to work all the Taskforces every day in order to have enough to purchase the next 30 days of Invention use. -
Quote:Aren't you taking the meaning behind the symbol a little too seriously? Plus, Arachnos, or at least Lord Recluse's motto is "Survival of the Fittest" or something like that. For those not working directly for Arachnos, if you can beat the crap out of his troops and you're not otherwise trying to take /him/ down or distrupt his plans, he finds it amusing, commending it almost.I may have misread this but I thought the new, lower red side content had us moving away from the arachnos lap dog idea. Anyway, I would prefer to have a bit more open ended origins and not just have this junk shoved down our throats.
Plus spiders are creepy, scary, menacing. The symbol of one works well as the Villain alignment symbol. I don't consider the white star on blue to be something of Stateman's phalanx reserve underling for my heroes, it doesn't apply to Recluse and his Arachnos symbol either. -
It might be culturally ideal to have a Summer Vacation/Break School's Out! style summer event. There's nothing wrong with the six to eight weeks of having the summer away from school, and for heroes and villains it could mean taking a break after saving and ruining the day to go to the beach, play in the pool or harass tourists.
If you wanted to have low-art budget, you'd just need to find the beachiest looking places in Paragon, Rogue Isles and Praetoria and add some NPCs and events there.
What about Spanky's boardwalk in Talos? If there had to be a beach party that would be IDEAL a place to start in Paragon. Pocket D's Tiki room could have some summer things going on in there, if it's accessible to all. Port Oakes could have something going though it would have to try very hard to combat the dreary atmosphere of Villainside. No idea how Praetoria could pull it off as it's mostly concrete walls at the borders.
Otherwise, you'd have to build a Ski-slope sized zone of a tropical island, accessible by all to enjoy throughout the entire duration of the summer event. Such an event could last up to six weeks if it wants to match up the average 'summer vacation' duration. -
This is totally off the top of my head and may not be 100% correct but:
cohsubmissions@ncsoft.com
Subject should contain "TIP:" at the beginning if I remember correctly. I'm pretty sure the cohsubmissions part is right, after the @ could be anything. Who knows if people even man the email account anymore. -
I'd imagine that Stretching powers isn't so much impossible as it would require the funding of premium-content to get into the game, it could possibly be a melee powerset with some nice AoEs and rely totally on the ability to stretch the model around.
Distortion is the key element to stretching powers, you'd never see Mr. Fantastic stretch into a parachute and then have a normal looking face would you? I'd imagine it could be quite fun and I would pay 800pts to do that for profit or otherwise.
