Change the symbol for Villains
Not sure why you'd think we stopped being "chosen ones." Villains are railroaded along that even if they start as heroes or Praetorians. Then everyone gets railroaded through the Well 'storyline.' Your concepts mean nothing, citizen.
Wanted: Origin centric story arcs.
If you've only played an AT once (one set combo) and "hate" it - don't give up. Roll a different combo. It may just be those sets not clicking for you.
I don't mind it. It's evil looking, sinister, and you don't necessarily have to associate it with you being an Arachnos lap dog. It's just a symbol to represent evil.
I may have misread this but I thought the new, lower red side content had us moving away from the arachnos lap dog idea. Anyway, I would prefer to have a bit more open ended origins and not just have this junk shoved down our throats.

Plus spiders are creepy, scary, menacing. The symbol of one works well as the Villain alignment symbol. I don't consider the white star on blue to be something of Stateman's phalanx reserve underling for my heroes, it doesn't apply to Recluse and his Arachnos symbol either.

What about that annoying Statesman's star symbol for heroes? Maybe my hero doesn't WANT to be "Statesman's Pal".
In case you couldn't tell, that was sarcasm. It's just a symbol. It doesn't imply anything about your character besides their general alignment.

Tell you what Jaz, Just role play that you have no choice in that matter. It's like an identification card. Can you choose what you drivers license looks like ... no? Then why would your hero/villian/vigilante/rogue ID be any different.

Seriously though, both symbols are tied to something. In the case of villains, at least it's an entire organization with multiple sects and many different goals. In the case of heroes, it is one single man. If anyone should complain it is the heroes in this case.
But really, doesn't' matter. It's just a symbol that doesn't have any bearing on gameplay or RP or anything once you're in the game.

But yeah, it's just a symbol. It's not that invasive in-game. In fact, I don't even think it shows up in-game barely at all.
GG, I would tell you that "I am killing you with my mind", but I couldn't find an emoticon to properly express my sentiment.

Yep. That's right. Can we get rid of that annoying arachnos symbol attached to villains? I thought we stopped with the idea of being 'chosen ones' for arachnos. I have no desire to have my toons associated with arachnos (for the most part). I really think it stifles our character ideas to have them lap dogs for someone. Give us full artistic license to make our toons. Having a 'villain' symbol for villains would be nice instead of that arachnos spider.

My point is that I don't think this criticism is constructive. It asks for change without giving some suggestions.
More to my point, though, is that there will never be one symbol that pleases everyone. I still remember the numerous complaints about the Rogue and Vigilante symbols. And in the CoH universe, the most recognized symbol of notoriety is Arachnos. Even if you're not part of the organization, you're still probably setting up shop on their soil in the Rogue Isles. From an RP standpoint, it could be considered a national flag, as opposed to membership to an organization.
Just my opinion.
I don't use the Arachnos symbol.
Arachnos uses MY symbol.
What should we change the symbol to? A knife? A gun? Those might not fit with someone else's theme. What would be a universally recognized symbol or villainy? Can you think of one that most players would agree with? A handlebar mustache? A stick of dynamite?

Anyway, since you asked, the sky is the limit for symbols that could replace the arachnos spider. Your examples were an effort to support your point and I can't take you seriously when you make such suggestions. So, how about something like a skull? Or something else somewhat sinister looking. The devs did a great job with the rogue symbol so, yeah, I am sure something could be put into place.
I think you've missed the point of the entire post here. Having an arachnos symbol as the 'symbol' for villains implies we are associated with/to arachnos. It is more is a theme complaint than actual look of the logo. The arachnos logo is cool looking and all but being tied to them isn't something I think is necessary. Also, if you're arachnos why are you always attacked by arachnos NPCs in various villain zones?
