Costume sets overhaul

So i decided to finally try out a tank character [never really been my thing] and i wanted a tank that was different to all the other tanks out there. These days you see far too many granite or shield tanks so i decided on an ice armour tank.
Decided to call him shiver me timber and so obviously was going to be an ice/db pirate character. Now i sometimes use the costume sets as a starting point for new characters costumes, thus i decided to go and look at the pirate costume set. It was the LEAST looking pirate costume i had ever seen and is one of the costume sets that is in desperate need of an overhaul.

So with that in mind the following costume sets are ones that do indeed need updating/a lot of improvement on them. If you can think of any more or think ones i mention are fine, please state why

  • Flack
  • Insect Armour
  • Pilot
  • Pirate
  • Tech Crey
  • Zombie
  • Viking
Well those are my opinion anyway, some of those are sets which do need a lot of love/new parts in my opinion. Do you know how hard it is to create a decent pirate on this game?

I think it was Noble Savage or Back Alley who asked the forumites about updating existing costume pieces with a higher resolution version. It was universally agreed that major changes needed additional content and not replacements, also that some low-res pieces worked because they were so bland they could've been anything, and high-res doesn't do that it seems.

I have noticed a few pieces look 'better' as time has gone on, it's kind of a stealth patch but in a good way. I figure they'll update one or two pieces per patch until the entire original catalogue is up-to-date. That is, if I'm not imagining things.

Crey does need a update, blurry textures bug me. And it's not like there isn't a texture quality option to adjust down if you have a low memory computer.

I don't use any of the sets you named but it's worth saying that replacing is never a good option when you can simply add an alternative. Somewhere out there, someone is using the part you're wanting to replace, and likes it how it is.

Oh! One thing I wish they'd do is add costume piece specific patterns to those missing them. For instance, Electron or whatever it's called, with the circuits. That could use a pattern so you can highlight the circuits a different colour to the base.

Medieval armour looks like it could look a lot less monotone with a pattern covering the ornate regions of the plates.

What else...? Insect Armour, Stone. A number of costume textures could use a pattern to enable natural two-toning.

Not hard at all.

The costume set in the creator was put together before several of the pieces useful for making a pirate existed.

I cite the jacket from the Steampunk pack as being a very serviceable captain's coat.

The only problem I had with it is the pirate hats have hair that clips with it horribly.

That jacket, tucked in baggy pants, either the peg-leg or folded boots, the pirate hook hand, and a pirate hat will do a decent pirate.

And the sword from the Valkyrie pack is basically a really fancy cutlass. It works for broadsword or dual blades.

I never use the costume sets as-is, but they make a good starting point for some concepts.

Circuits is the highlight pattern for Electron... it is just the only instance (I think) where the overlay has another name than the base pattern.

For females the "Tops with Skin" and "Bottoms with Skin" Metal costume parts have desperately, for over seven years needed to have gloves and boots to go with them.
I've tried everything, and nothing really fits those two costume pieces that looks well enough to be a set. I wouldn't mind some sort of head wear to go along with it as well, but they really, really need boots and gloves to finish the set.

I kinda hated it when they updated the Metallic chest and pants options...because the shine ended up screwing w/ the overall costume, making my boots seem very out of place...
