Kick...ouch

Anyone ever notice this unfortunate tendency of [Kick]?

See it? Look closer:

Issue 16 made me feel like this.

even worse if your character is bottom of the height scale. but yeah, it deforms the leg horribly. its also a horribly animated kick, it seems to draw all the force from the extension of the leg with little of a hip push for real force. one of the many things i hope for with alternate animations is to finally have a better kick for that power in fact if they totally removed that animation, i could excuse the cottage rule . yes, that power annoys me immensely, especially since i tend to take it a lot for making most of the punch heavy sets have some form of balance.

That's been there for as long as I can remember, and people have made threads like this one from time to time. I'm honestly not sure why no-one's ever done anything about it.

That said, I do like the Kick animation, minus the distortion. Sure, the power doesn't do much, but damned if it isn't cool to LITERALLY kick someone's *** and send him flying *** over tea kettle. It's also the perfect power to kick over trash cans, as well as to kick down vault doors, yelling "Little pig! Little pig, let me in!"

I see your problem. That's not the [Kick] attack, it's the [Keep on Truckin'] attack.

I think that kind of distortion only occurs within one or two frames of the attack itself, which otherwise is not /too/ noticeable during a non-cakewalk fight.

The only thing I'd wish [Kick] got changed would be the trailing uninterruptable animation of putting your leg down after the attack, it feels like it could use a bit of interruptible animation period like [Jump Kick] was given after so many years of being trapped getting yourself steady after the flip.

It bugged me that your foot not only had to touch ground but you needed half a second contact before you could take your next action, doesn't flow too well and I take kick because it adds variety to my character's attacks, if they're melee.

I've never noticed that.

Vanden, you are responsible for making me laugh so hard I woke everyone in the house up at 7 am.

That is so ridiculous it's awesome. I might just have to start picking Kick instead of Boxing on my way to Tough and Weave.

They had the animators tend to vital issues such as making Knockback work on heroes who were struck while using Hover. It only took them four and a half years or so to correct this Game-Breaking Oversight, but they persevered until it was done!

Sorry, Stretcho, you will just have to wait.

"How do you know you are on the side of good?" a Paragon citizen asked him. "How can we even know what is 'good'?"

"The Most High has spoken, even with His own blood," Melancton replied. "Surely we know."

A couple of the ranged attack animations do something similar where instead of standing on your toes (i think that's what the original mocap was) your ankles stretch up about four inches. Looks slightly odd if you're looking closely at the animation, but not very noticeable in combat.

Dr. Todt's theme.
i make stuff...

By gosh, I think you're right.

I used to fiddle with my back feet music for a black onyx. My entire room absorbed every echo. The music was . . . thud like. The music was . . . thud like. I usually played such things as rough-neck and thug. Opaque melodies that would bug most people. Music from the other side of the fence.

Stretching powers

No kidding. Using this sort of distortion on purpose might make for a fun powerset

I'd imagine that Stretching powers isn't so much impossible as it would require the funding of premium-content to get into the game, it could possibly be a melee powerset with some nice AoEs and rely totally on the ability to stretch the model around.

Distortion is the key element to stretching powers, you'd never see Mr. Fantastic stretch into a parachute and then have a normal looking face would you? I'd imagine it could be quite fun and I would pay 800pts to do that for profit or otherwise.
