"I am angry"
You and another few hundreds of precious little snowflakes who feel they are so important they each have to create a new thread instead of joining one of the many, many existing topics about NCSoft "appreciation".
Spam is spam. I'd wager people who react negatively are mildly annoyed rather than amused. -
Seems too big to be legit, but I choose to believe. Naratu 4 lyfe
-
It's kind of sad when insignificant people desperate for attention start telling themselves people hate them just so they can believe somebody cares about them at all.
-
Quote:Tell you what, a few years down the line when NCSoft is absorbed by some bigger fish for unrelated reasons you can tell me "I told you so"... Much like some of these people who proclaimed the end of CoH for every month since the start have been popping up lately to say this game obviously failed because it didn't have [feature they want].That might be true if the MMO market weren't bottoming out, in the middle of what is already a financial recession.
Meanwhile, the world will keep working the way it does. -
Servers being green instead of yellow have little to do with people not wanting to be powerleveled and doing something else - servers being green instead of yellow means there are less people online, period.
Unless you want to claim NCSoft made stealth server upgrades right after claiming they closed the game, but that'd be quite out there on the insanity scale, even by the standards you've set... -
Quote:Any business of a certain size knows angry customers who follow through on their resentment are statistically insignificant. If we all followed a rigid moral code, we wouldn't even be on the Internet anyway as many of our computer parts are made through child labor in Chinese factories.
Any business whose standard business practice is to stonewall existing customers is a business that is asking for those customers to a) never buy from them again and b) tell all their friends about it. -
Ha, that is glorious. I love how there's not a single one of them who looks bored - everyone is staring at their own screen.

I do remember Doom... Mostly because I still play it today, in higher resolution, better graphics and with thousands of great user-made maps, thanks to id releasing the source code. Not like *some* other companies who just shut their game down and take the ball home.
Picked up Deus Ex HR during the last Steam sale. Had a blast playing through it. Pretty close to the original; almost *too* close.
Also grabbed Saints Row 3. It's like a spiritual successor to the very first GTA, sheer stupidity and ludicrous carnage.
Loving the video game industry right now. Most games are terrible, sure, but there's just so many games, even the "few" great games released are still more than enough to make the main issue finding time to play rather than finding something worth playing. With digital distribution and sales, games are cheaper than ever.
I like the F2P model too, if someone else wants to drop three hundred bucks on a shiny armor and essentially pay for my copy of the game, it doesn't lessen my enjoyment any. -
There's definitely much less people on Freedom at the hours I play. At 11pm GMT+1 villainside has about 60-70 players - down from 200ish before. Heroside has about 200 players - down from 600ish before.
(These numbers are from the LFG search, using level and/or archetype filters to get relatively accurate results; give or take a few as people might log off and on during the process). -
Clicked the link. Greeted in top left corner by some emo anime avatar with poor image compression. That's all anyone should need to know to understand whatever follows isn't worth reading.

Ack! You guys already named all the cool suggestions.
To pick just one, probably the oldschool pets. Imagine having those 15 fire imps on a /fire permadom, along with the KD proc in Bonfire. -
Just started a STJ/ELA brute - wanted a STJ/DA, but Dark Embrace fades your character back and forth to black, even with "no fade or pulse" selected and /suppressclosefx 1. Boo.
PLed it straight for a hour, as to start right away with a complete attack chain and a fair amount of defensive toys. During the whole process, zoned out in deep thought as I was mechanically going through the motions - I think this is what I'm going to miss out most, this game somehow manages to be entertaining and involving to play and yet at the same time it's easy enough to allow for muscle memory to kick in and let you do some real thinking about unrelated stuff.
The current plan is to play through high-ranked AE arcs, at least until lvl 50. Now if only you could get incarnate rewards in AE. -
If it was the current game, exactly as is, except offline, yes. Ideally with mod tools, dev commands and such.
If there were any important gameplay changes, no. I'm not attached to the CoH universe, or even super-heroes at all, so if the core of this hypothetical SP game ended up significantly different than the current soloing experience, I'd look elsewhere. -
Not only it can, but it does exist. There is (or was) a Roman-themed MMO out there where everything is player constructed. You started in the wilderness with nothing but a few tools. You could only talk to people at close range, and with the size of the game and the small playerbase I actually never saw any other living soul in the 3 days or so I played it.

Hard pressed to think of just one... But looking back, the one character I remember being broken by ED to the point of not being fun anymore, and this affecting my enjoyment of the game significantly, was my Fire/EM blaster.
6slotted Hasten and 6slotted FoN kept FoN up a lot - I think it had either a much longer duration or a much faster recharge too at the time, and you could have it perma or close to it. With Blaze being 20 feet at this point I'd get up close, at a time when people (on Vigilance, anyway) believed a blaster should play at range and only at range, and soloed AVs, despite a terrible "attack chain" of "whatever is up", consisting of Blaze, Fire Blast, Fire Ball, Total Focus and, yes, Power Thrust (I think AV regen was also lower at this time, and that it was boosted right about when the RSF was introduced two issues later), when those same people believed soloing AVs at all to be impossible, let alone doing so on a blaster. I remember being so enamored with the character I made an avatar of her using Total Focus on Dreck, even though this sort of thing always struck me as super cheesy.
In I7, my main was an EM/ELA brute. Loved it. Used to lead RSFs and act as sole tank quite often, while at the same time even the US boards were filled with complaints about this TF being either impossible or only possible with 1 granite brute and 7 rads... Ha. To be fair, we did often end up with (and even push for) numerous corrs on the team, and stacking -res on top of those high base damage numbers was possibly one of the most fun things about the combo, frequently hitting super fast 3k damage ETs on the final AVs. That character not only remained at the top of the charts for Freedom Phalanx kills (those little kiosks things scattered in Paragon City that used to give you information about number of kills per day and per month), but also managed to have more of these kills by herself than every other character on the server combined; no doubt due to the hard work of my corruptor buddies rather than anything else.
By I13 or so I made and played a DB/inv scrapper for a while. It was quite enjoyable as it was such an underdog combo at the time, either powerset considered terrible by most people who cared to express an opinion. I didn't see anyone else sporting the combo for months if not years; even better, I did get numerous people telling me they rerolled this combo because of me.
Finally, by I19 or so I played a SS/fire/soul brute. Complete 180° here as I was shamelessly following the crowd, but damn it was fun to play. Could never get into the whole "I'm punching a dude, now I'm dropping flames at my feet, now I'm throwing a skull at somebody, now I punch again" concept, but the sheer power of that character, and the convenience of it all made it a blast.
...Somehow, it seems I can only remember alts as fun not only based on their performance, but also in relation to the playerbase. I guess I'm an ego monster. :|
Awesome costume, Rylas. -
Quote:It's not everyone. I have Forbin Project, TwoHeadedBoy and EvilGeko on Ignore, and all I see in this topic is people either agreeing, having a relatively polite conversation or arguing with invisible people. It's crazy how everyone is turning on each other right near the end.
Draw your own conclusions - EG is a light troll at best, but FB and THB have a history of posting pointless garbage and turning civil discussions into a reenactment of the first World War. Ignoring FB in particular is easily the best move I ever made for forum readability, he's 100% toxic and only joins topics to insult people or spew xenophobic rants, to the point quite often he's the sole source of antagonism. -
Quote:Fellow time traveler, while you're here, could you tell us what's going to happen in the end?
I believe it was back in November of 2012 -
#0. Not being able to ogle Fasttrack while flipping purples in Steel Canyon's WW.
(I've always liked your costume.)

Quote:For his comment to be offensive, one has to make the assumption playing dress-up dolly is somehow bad... And why would it be?Didn't need that last comment... Some of us are actually artist of some degree and have used this system for inspiration for our own work. Try thinking about some form of art you have seen that you liked, something like your favorite Comic or Movie Character? I am sure you think that those artists were just playing "dress-up dolly." You obviously have no respect be for the effort and people put into the media you watch, you just take.
You are the one showing disrespect here, by being so insecure about your hobby and implying we are all like you. I'm a grown man and I have no shame in enjoying the costume creator. -
It might actually rekindle my interest with the game. I love server wipes, gives back some of that uncharted territory feeling while also being a new and different experience compared to the first time.

Devs don't read the AT forums, so it's not like the OP would have got his answer.

Quote:LOL. I had to login just to reply to this. The one real, emotional reason I have always been so annoyed with you, as much as I might try to rationalize otherwise, is because you've always been the CoH version of Navi.
For the record, I have never manufactured or exaggerated the level of knowledge and communication I had with the devs. If anything I downplayed it significantly.
Hey!
Listen!
Hey!
Hello Castle do you remember that one time in band camp!
Look out!
Listen!
I was responsible for the I5 defense changes!
Hey!
I know of at least fourteen exploits with Brawl the playerbase hasn't discovered!

There is something else at work but I cannot talk about this!
Listen!
Look at me!
Hey!
You flew around red names like you had set up your phone to ring whenever the dev digest updated, and consistently tried to make jokes with them or engage in personal conversation, as if you knew them more than a normal player would. Your "subtle discussion redirections" consisted of you spamming a topic ten or fifteen times in a row, with wording that made it unequivocally you weren't getting your info any legit way.
It was so over the top I actually believed for a long time you were like Mishii, just pretending to be an insider and got your knowledge out of pigg file diving or somesuch, because surely no real insider would act this obvious, and no devs would tolerate someone that insufferable. -
The idea human behavior is dicted by society more than biology is the real myth, if you ask me. You don't become wiser because someone tells you to - you wisen up because your body stops telling you to go frolic all the time and starts telling you it is painful to do this or to do that, and does so all the time.
-
Heh, completely forgot about that guy.
You have to wonder what drives an old man to start acting like a particulary socially challenged teenager on a video game, and keep it up for months.
I mean, I heard the story, university professor doing "research" and so on, and of course people do dumb things for fame and money even in small quantities, but it still remains baffling at some level, you know? -
So it was a text error rather than a performance one?! Even the patch notes were misleading about this, naming a tick frequency reduction of 4x but nothing else. Truth be told, I assumed the mistake was in the description because Burn is so broken assuming its current power was a conscious design choice seemed like an outlandish notion.
Seriously. Three fourths of KO blow's damage. Hitting 5 targets. For 5 endurance. In an armor powerset. How could this not raise any red flag is hard to understand; and then stacking the FE changes on top of that!
This isn't really a complaint. FA needed a boost at the time. More like surprise, given the often stated goal of striving for balance. Personally, I don't mind the idea of overbuffing things one after another to keep a game fresh, but I may or may not have been brainwashed by Games Workshop in a previous life.
It's probably easier to rationalize looking at the scrapper version exclusively, which is something devs have seemed to do many times*. The DoT being fixed, Burn does proportionally lower damage on a scrapper, and lacking aggro capabilities things wouldn't stay in the Burn patch full time.
*hopefully *this* assumption is true, otherwise... How the heck did Kinetic Melee happen?
