I'll see what I can get done this weekend Hobo.
Always glad to help a RO and former test PvPer. -
Quote:Yeah...I was lucky enough to get a set of the Targeted AoE set at level 50 for 150,000,000 total the other day (Javelin's Volley I think it's called).so if theres none to buy i HAVE to pvp if i want any. so i am..
and still they dont come.
if i go to the ww/bm and theres none there i have to go where they drop, if i go there and they STILL dont drop then theres an issue.
If you're on a low-pop server, my advice would be to get some friends/sgmates, organize some kickball or somesuch and hope for the best.
Whereas before AFK farming would generate one to three per half hour, the new drop rate is...very very low.
Perfect_Pain is right again...if we could at least get cross-server Arena this would help things a ton. -
I generally use a Circle of Thorns Guide (and perhaps another minion) while in Rest to get these. With a Heal slotted in Rest and another in Health (or a self-heal/Regen from other sources) you can generally AFK a while and get this done fairly quickly.

Quote:AE lets you make your own missions and objectives and play them.I was walked through them last night but a chap i meet, Really helped me alot with things. So i kind of get them now.
Also one last question whats an AE? Is it a place u can make custom areas for mob killing and things? I have been in one with a Team but never understood what i was doing in it lol was my first night.
Try to travel around and do contact missions before getting involved with this; while AE has some nice content (the Dev's Choice arcs are neat), there's a lot of munchkin-ism going on there too. -
Quote:You can get capes a few ways:
I was wondering if anyone could tell me at what lvl u get a cape lol I got to have a cape being a flying frost priest :-).
Your standard cape can be obtained by seeing the City Rep inside Atlas Park City Hall or Kalinda/Burke (your starting villain contact) at level 20 and doing some missions for them.
Other capes are available through the Vet Reward program (don't worry too much about this) or some of the add-on packs (Valkyrie cape from the Valk pack also gives you a mission transporter power, if I recall)
You'll want to go back to these contacts at level 30 to get your shiny Auras.
Quote:I was wondering if u pick up crafting skills like in the other mmo's "Weapons,Armor, Gems, Mining" things like that. And if so where would i go about that.
Quote:And my last question is im on the mission "Cure Lost" and i have been and tried to find them in 2 cities but had no luck. I team up with a great guy i meet online and we both was lost trying to figure it out. If anyone could give me a clue as to the location of the people we need to cure that would be really great.
Thank you in advance (even tho i always say thanks after)
You can get some in Skyway City, Faultline and probably other places.
I recommend you hit up badge-hunter.com and get the map overlay, it tells you the mob types in each city zone and their levels.
Welcome! -
Welcome to the madhouse!
Does this mean we'll see Freddie the Freeloader ingame? -
Dear CoH,
Please review some of the accolade requirements, like 10,000,000 damage taken for Born in Battle.
Please address the Merit disparity between sides. Over 200 Merits from doing the Phalanx tasks and a +5% Hit Point increase; while you can speed Villain ones like Silver Mantis, Ice Mistral and such, no one Villain SF will award you close to 70 Merits. -
I'll actually be able to make this one, now for a bikini...

Quote:A hundred times this. While I'm more of a 'get up early/finish early' type of gal when it comes to work, I hated getting up early for classes. I managed to schedule most of my stuff to be late mornings or early afternoons with the occasional 7-10 p.m. class (no choice there sadly) to top it off.midnight.. So what's my advice?
If you hate getting up early or suck at it, don't take early classes. Schedule something a little later so you can at least function. Second semester was better for me cause I took 10 AM classes so I was able to get more sleep.
If you're living on campus, don't eat too much of the cafeteria food, even if it's all you can eat. Trust me, you'll thank me in 4 years when you get out of school.
Some of your profs will think that their class is the only class you're taking and will assign a metric *** ton of homework. I'd suggest talking to some other students to see who the good profs are. Keyword here is "good", not the "easy" ones. Unless you don't plan on learning a damn thing, take the easy profs.
The good profs are the profs that will listen to you, speak with you and be tough but fair. They know you have other classes and that you're young as well, so the work will be steady but not unbearable.
Quote:But the main thing I wanna stress is prioritizing/time management. It wasn't until my 3rd year of college I was able to figure out how to do this effectively. I was taking 16 credits, working part time, practicing martial arts 3 times a week, working out, hanging out with friends, studying/doing homework, and still managed to play 2-3 hours of CoV/Planetside/popular-game-of-the-week several nights out of the week. And I still managed to finish that semester with a 3.5 GPA. Basically what it boils down to is how serious are you gonna take your education. A lot of students I saw were just there cause they were coming out of high school and they didn't wanna just sit at home or their parents forced them to go to school. If you really wanna go somewhere, do it. Take it seriously, but not too seriously. Try to find some time to relax, unwind, have some fun and shake things up so you don't get burned out. You also don't wanna be one of those dudes who ONLY studies. I would definitely recommend trying to make friends.
You'll get friends soon enough. People will hang out and you'll like some of them or go meh.
You're not going to ace every class, heck you'll probably fail a few! But at some point you'll learn where you went wrong and grow from that point. Oh and...I don't know how your situation is, but if you can at all avoid student loans/bank loans for your schooling, that's the ideal scenario. I ended up with "only" 8,000 CDN in debt (paid the rest with work) and I consider myself lucky. -
Quote:Yeah Castle doesn't hate us. He's just in the unenviable position of making changes that will make an aspect of the game palatable for more people while not cheezing off a bunch of malcontents and ne'er-do-wells that have grown use to the 'old way'.I don't see where in that post Castle stated explicitly that he hated PvP. I see a developer that is trying to make most builds viable in PvP, yet competing with an engine and design left gutted by Craptic Studios (Played CO recently? lol).
Castle seems to understand that PvPers enjoy their competiton. However when it comes to the implementation of new rules for PvP that senior PvPers will tolerate and new PvPers can pickup and run with fairly quicky, they are at a loss.
I don't see why it's so difficult to implement simple changes to PvP (only implement Travel Suppression to melee attacks and that is if they hit. Travel suppression shouldn't be affected by ranged; fast-paced movement is what people enjoy in PvP. Keep heal decay but for personal heals only. Fix defense so that its percentages aren't trumped by acc and tohit. Get rid of mez suppression as it currently is. Yes, mez shouldn't last as long in PvP as it does in PvE, make a base hold duration for a fully slotted hold and allow that to be increased with set bonus holds, allow stackable mez but apply a mag decay so that BFs function as they should.) Bunch of other things that can be sighted, but i'm not a PvPer so my knowledge is limited. I'm sure there's a list of good ideas stickied somewhere...
Let's face it, the 'old way' was very much blistering speed, quick reactions and absurdly overpowered builds. We still have the overpowered builds, but now they don't need Sonics for buffs, Emps for mez protection/+ToHit etc. Inventions have filled gaps and the global resists have stripped another layer of strategy as well.
The fact we had to gather in the Training Room for tournaments and tilts meant we worked at cross-purposes a lot of the time. Obviously the TR is meant for builds and testing first. We had to go there because server transfers didn't exist and it was the only level playing field. We all had our HOs/IOs/whatever there and practice/skill was the determining factor.
It did become clear, though, that advanced groups were just going to roll over new players (they still do by the way) but if they wanted PvP IOs and other rewards...they had to change stuff. Stripping away movement, buffer roles and a lot of the 'twitchy' nature of the combat may have been a large hammer to wield.
There are positives though. They include map selection, the PvP IOs, DR (yeah...it kinda stinks but things were silly before), caging suppression (still laugh at being Sonic Caged for 7-8 minutes, the good old days), less unresisteds and so on. It's a balancing act I guess. They need to bear in mind vets, newbies, base raiders (if those come online at all)...some of the radial settings for Arena help. A global "I12" setting would be super awesome, or at least one that grants Mez Protection/No Resists.
Wow, this got /PsyPunk in a hurry lol.
Anyway, we have what we have and at least we can remove Travel Suppression and Heal Decay in the Arena. -
Take care and thanks for the Stalker changes.
Remember to keep some time to yourself so you maintain your sanity. -
Quote:Or send them cookies! There is only one requirement for getting into Closed Beta. It's contained in an email, and will be from Paragon Studios.
Seriously, they take people that are discrete and provide timely feedback and good bug-reporting. They also invite assorted others to add to the current mix. There are users that have proven reliable and indefatigable in testing and they are likely there right now, making things better for all of us. -
Server: Freedom, Pinnacle
Location: Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
ISP: Sympatico
Lag: Freedom - sometimes insane lag spikes, Pinnacle - Not TOO bad but they do crop up. -
Peace be with him, never forget the good times.
Much strength to his family and friends. -
Woot I placed!
Blue Shield was by far the hardest to get with the roof jumping and all.
Very fun event, got defeated a ton of times and laughed all the way through.
Thanks for hosting! -
A lot of the content is indeed dated and ponderous and in dire need of fixing. A new coat of paint on hero lowbie stuff would be great as well.
One ancillary issue is that of Merits. WIth many of these long arcs awarding close to a recipe's worth of Merits, would players be accepting of quality (of content) over quantity (of rewards)? -
Quote:There's the Hamidon raid instances, where you need around 30-50 people to defeat an entity that gives multi-function enhancements or Merits. There are various 'hard' TFs like Statesman, Lord Recluse and others at 45-50
Here are my questions:
1. Is there an End-game? (For instance, at least on a PVE standpoint are there places in the game where groups of people can take on colossal tasks, like raids in WoW-terms)
Quote:2. Is the community as Elitist or as immature as WoW's?
Quote:3. It is an old game, so...how large is the player-base?
Quote:4. How in-depth is the game?
Quote:5. Finally, how much "stuff" is there to do when you hit the level cap?
Sorry for the wall of text, any help would be appreciated
(Really, I am trying to go cold turkey on World of Warcrack so....I'm just looking for a game to play for my MMO fix so I don't go back to my addiction...)
Thanks again!
I run Imperious Task Force (4 missions against Romans, levels 35-50 access through Midnighter Club in Cap redside or Steel Canyon Uni blueside)
PvP (Yeah, it's changes but can still be enjoyable)
Explore - Heroside the gameworld is pretty large and there is much to see
IO out (finding the shinies to give your character more recovery, defense)
Play the Market (You can make influence/infamy by selling your drops at Wentworth's/Black Market locations)
New costumes (Up to four extra slots are available through gameplay missions or salvage)
Rikti Raids (In th War Zone, accessible through Cap au Diable, St. Martial, Grandville redside and Atlas Park, Founders' Falls and Peregrine Island blueside...take on huge amounts of aliens around their flying saucer. Do Levantera's arc first though!)
Create Epic Archetypes, which are a whole new game in and of themselves. -
Yeah I'm levelling an MA Stalker myself, is Cobra Strike a must-have? Right now going with AS, EC, Axe Kick, the 'long' kick, Stealth Pool yada yada.
Actually, it's pre-I12 but I think there's a video on Youtube of vince on a MA/SR in RV owning people, was pretty epic. -
Rep timer counts every five minutes iirc. So once you get a rep point off your friend, no chance of IO for another five minutes or so.
Obviously, if both of you are attacking each other, this helps.
Note that from what I've seen, Infamy/Influence still drops during the delay, just not those IOs. -
Glad you are having fun, The_Coming_Storm.
If anything positive comes out of it here, it's that I'm basically levelling goofy builds and just having fun with them. It's still fun to smash people I guess.

Then youd complain bout wat Id done
And go and get your permadom
Then I would jump and you would phase

and you would jump and I would phase
And devs would think they should fix that
With loots and suits and big nerf bats
But wat I did is wat youd done
And if I didnt, youda won.
So hold me scold me tell me lies
Mes me rez me supersize
But if I jump then I must wanna
And if I got phase then Im gonna
The devs can take my jump away
Can take my speed, tp, and play
But here I root and stand amazed
That they dont also take ur phase.

This sounds like a lot of fun and I'll gladly be there.
Thanks for hosting the craziness. -
It's ok but you don't get your heavy hitter until 32.
Fire/Regen seems good, Spine Regen is always a classic favorite.
I'm rolling a MA/Ninjutsu so we'll see how that does...mostly I just want to looooooooooooooooooooooooooooock in Animation!
