hover and fissure don't play well
hover and hotfeet don't play well (for the initial activation, less of a concern)
I suppose you can detoggle hover when you need to use those powers, fissure especially, but I don't think I've met any player that dedicated to click on click off click on click off click on click off.....
second, unless you have perma clarion going pure s/l defense will do you little good as most mezzes are ranged and don't have S/L vectors.
I built my Fire/Kin softcapped to s/l and ranged and 1 luck away from softcapping AoE. It doesn't have hover though.

Xandier I looked at your build and the first thing that jumped out at me is Dark Regen, it needs accuracy.
It looks like you took some of the ideas in my build thread about positional defense and applied it to your build, but you started chasing after recovery bonuses which took away from the positional defense build focus.
Here is my current build, I can tell you even though I didn't chase after recovery bonuses, I have no issues with endurance. For lower level content i just turn off toggles I don't need "tough, acro, etc" because i'm softcapped at as low as level 28.

I went scirocco's to get more end redux out and to shore up the AoE defense. Oblits aren't so hot in the end redux department and I know from my experience with elec/fire and rad/fire that all the pbaoes can be really taxing on the end bar.
What you have will do just as well though. -
A blaster's biggest pitfall is lack of mez protection.
Most mezzes don't have a s/l or melee vector
This puts rad/fire at a difficult position since it would benefit greatly from having s/l defense but that alone would do little good if mezzes keep landing.
I have a rad/fire myself and I think I finally found a build that I'm satisfied with.

I find that layering resist shields on top of the -to hit and the defense I stacked up makes for a very sturdy toon that can be played very, very aggressively. In summary you can make a pretty impressive tank with the combo by building for positional defense rather than typed defense as most DA builds lean towards.
End is an issue but it gets better with cardiac, and once you are softcapped you can actually leave certain toggles off to save end for all but the most demanding content. -
At this point whichever build you go with, mine or your tweaked version, gives you more than enough survivability to accommodate your current hover blasting playstyle.
If you want to be a better blaster/player though, ditch the "avoid melee at all costs" mentality and learn how to use all the tools at your disposal. -
It's nice when it happens but it's not something I depend on when I play my bane. With heavy burst, venom grenade and arctic breath I never felt the need to compare my damage output against that of stalkers
Crowd control still makes my heart tickle when I hit a huge group with it after a placate though... STEALTH STRIKE!!! -
If you want something safe, Elec/Dark/Ice Dom or Elec/Dark/Mu Troller, they both work best in melee.
Dom does more damage and has enough survivability to handle +4/8
Troller is a friggin tank, with softcapped positionals and hard capped s/l resist, can tank 4/8 but expect slower killing speed.
If you want something a lot more exciting, fire/elec blaster. Get in there and punch stuff in the face! -

Perma everything with agility
Capped S/L resist
Softcapped range/aoe/F/C (e/n with agility)

Now with rain of fire, still softcapped to s/l/e/ranged, you can even put hover in place of CJ if you prefer that. You even have a mass immob to help you get the most out of RoF, it's better than snow storm.
The fact that you are softcapped to s/l/e/ranged means you can wade into a mob and use drain psyche with less trepidation about getting killed. If you learn how to joust PbAoEs are even less of an issue and you can use them at will without fear of getting stuck in melee.

Dark Assault may not have drain psyche, but it does have solid ST attacks along with engulf darkness and a power build up clone. It has a damage type that when resisted, isn't resisted by a stupid high amount.
Anyway I highly endorse Elec/Dark/Ice. -

Ah you are right, they don't now, oversight on my part.
Just replace the membranes with def/rech IOs, the downtime is still about 3 seconds but my build is already softcapped without mind link so it's not a big deal for me. -

Your defenses are mediocre without mind link and mind link is not perma or close to perma. Though you slotted a lot of your powers for recharge the slotting schema could be optimized to gain more recharge by using better sets in different powers.
Here is my hybrid fort, I skipped the cones in favor of a stand in the middle of the group and mash buttons playstyle.

I hated my elec/stone, there is something to be said about having a few good ranged attacks in the secondary.
My elec/dark/ice dom on the other hand is a beast. -
Regarding earth's embrace, it's just personal preference. I wanted more than 4pts -kb and I like giving the team +jump so I took IR over EE. There is nothing stopping anyone from making that swap, just a default recharge in EE and you'll have perma HP cap.

Well that didn't really answer any of my questions. But to address your concerns:
It's my toon and I can spend as much as I want on it if I feel it's worthwhile, and I feel it's worthwhile. For the record it's exactly because the combo has so many tools that I came up with the two builds, because I want to take the toon into the kind of dogpiles where she can use all those tools at her disposal.
If you have suggestions to improve by all means fire away. If you prefer one build over the other please state why. -
I never cared for these performance tests.
Do I think blasters need some help to bring them on par with some other ATs? Yes, especially more so with non-crashing judgement nukes.
Do I think they are unplayable and die all the time? No
Do I think the majority of people that complain/joke about blasters citing the above are incompetent at building/playing blasters? Yes.
