Fire/Kin/Stone Critique

Alright, After quite some time, I've decided to finally respec my build, get rid of the Fitness Power Pool, and chance my APP from Fire to Stone - I've been Fire since I hit 50, I was a resist build, farming council (+4 x8). I've made a stone build, with what knowledge I have over the controller AT in general, and from what I've seen from numerous builds on these exact forums. So I was hoping that I could have someone help me refine this build even further - I have perma hasten with or without Fissure proc. I have 49.2% S/L Def, but my resis is lacking I think. I'm wanting my build to still be able to farm my council farm effectively. Price isn't entirely an issue, I'm not made of money but I have quite a bit in my current build and just inf throughout my Alts. Without further ranting, my build: http://www.cohplanner.com/mids/downl...58FF07D62CF548

Is this for trials, TFs, soloing? How badly do you need the team support capacity? What's the budget?

I see some half-hearted attempts to get range/aoe def but a serious S/L/Range softcapped build is significantly more expensive than this.

A lot of attacks aren't slotted for damage at all. Generalist fire/kins need to slot for damage since there are situations where you can't melee and battles against single strong enemies where FS doesn't cap your damage.

S/L def builds can't get significant res since they typically don't have a res APP to stack with tough. You might want to forget about res entirely (use tough to mule a +3 def unique and keep it turned off to save end) and rely on softcap + capped HP to keep you alive.

You're slightly overdosed on def (drop back to around 45-46%).

The build is being made entirely for the soul purpose of doing the Council farm (+4 x8). I know my def is over the top for S/L, I was trying to reach a good ranged def but I couldn't quite figure out how to reach it. I understand wanting to drop resistance, but as I've come to realize you will always get hit at least once - so you need to have something to take it. Again, this build is for nothing more, then to farm Portal Corps. Council Farm. I have other Alts/builds for TF/Trials. And with a team you can go in as is - I Have buffs for the team, and no team says no to FS. End should never be an issue for a /Kin due to Transference. The build limit, I want to say maybe 6~8 bil. Now if anything I've said here is wrong, please correct me I've been out of the scene for a while.

Am I allowed to Shameless self bump? I would really like someone else's opinion on this. I know I'm not the best at mids, and was just hoping that someone would be willing to help my improve my build.

First off. Do NOT slot the Force Feedback proc when calculating your recharge. Mids doesn't handle it properly and just ladles on 100% recharge.

Additionally, you're depending on spamming Siphon speed, which will slow your attack chain down considerably.

This means you're not permahasten.

Also, get your hands on the PVP TP/3% defense IO.
Use those slots from Kick someplace USEFUL. Like slotting a Basilisk's Gaze quartet into Char.

Also you goofed on your Weave slotting. You put a Defense/Recharge in there instead of the Defense/Global Recharge.

I'm also REALLY iffy about slotting Oblit in Hot Feet. The endredux in Obliteration is horrific.

In Stamina. If you're going for Perf Shifter: +End, you may as well slot the other one Perf Shifter: End Mod for the movement set bonus.

Here's a slightly different look at your build.

It's a bit more end heavy (I took out Smoke and used Maneuvers instead, as debuffs get resisted, defense doesn't).

This build:

  • Keeps capped S/L defense
  • Gets you to perma-hasten OUTSIDE of Siphon Speed and the FF proc.
  • Drastically ramps up your Ranged defense. This way, if you happen to attract an Alpha at range, you have better chances of surviving (should also help for ranged/psi attacks).
And some things to consider.
With the changes to procs and PPM mechanics, a better place for the +2 Mag proc in Char MAY be in Cinders. Right now, I have a Store-Bought Lockdown proc in Cinders and it fires VERY (VERY) dependably.

But that's for future consideration.

This build is more end-heavy than your original one. And the increased recharge (combined with the Siphon and FF proc won't do it any favors), but Transference should be up every 7-10 seconds.

A well built fire/kin can do anything, much more than just farming. Even if you were to build the toon strictly for farming you are not taking full advantage of the fact that FS will cap your damage and you can slot your normal damage powers with

1) damage procs - I would proc fire cages, char, and ring of fire out since you'll be damage capped anyway.
2) non damage sets that offer better set bonuses i.e absolute amazement in fissure.

Here is my current fire/kin setup.

Thank you both for responding, I'm looking at the builds now. And I see what you mean Nemu, Since I will be Dmg Cap'd why would I need to slot dmg sets. Now Nemu, I noticed something about your build - why do you not have Earth's embrace, I thought one of the big points of Earth mastery, is getting HP cap. And for Hyperstrike, Why 4 slot Hasten? 3 slotting is over doing it for the most part - 4 is almost a wasted slot isn't it? I'm going to start testing these out.

Regarding earth's embrace, it's just personal preference. I wanted more than 4pts -kb and I like giving the team +jump so I took IR over EE. There is nothing stopping anyone from making that swap, just a default recharge in EE and you'll have perma HP cap.

And for Hyperstrike, Why 4 slot Hasten? 3 slotting is over doing it for the most part - 4 is almost a wasted slot isn't it? I'm going to start testing these out.
For farming it is easy to hit the cap constantly. For regular teaming you won't be there all the time, so it is still useful to slot damage sets in attack powers.

As for Hasten, 4 slots is most definitely overkill. 2 is standard, 3 is even debatable.

But when your in a "team" oriented Environment, your still going to be able to get FS off, and if it is against an AV - your entire rotation will change. Or at least mine does, I go full support when We are against an AV, Spam Transfusion/Transference, keep Stacks of holds from Char/SS and make sure team is buffed with Speed Boost.

I agree with you...so what's your point? Against an AV, you have an even less-soaked FS, thus you need even more reason to slot damage in your attacks to make them count.

I'm just a little unclear to what you want, pure farming or all around build. Either way, Hasten doesn't really need more than 2 slots.

The whole point, of my build originally, was to Farm Council, for drops, to further fuel my Inf. Needs. That being said I'm not wanting to Solo an AV, To be honest I've only ever heard of a Psi/ Solo AV in the Dominator/Controller AT. My point is that If I was going to make a AV buster I wouldn't make a Fire/Kin I'd go "retard strength" SS/SD or DM/SD or something more durable and more damage Dealing. I don't want to Solo an AV - I want to be able to help my Team shut one down - which with this build I have, I shut down Infernal with my 2 Pre 50 Friends. So The build, as to my knowledge - is working perfectly.
